The layout of the store was easy to navigate since it was reminiscent to other locations I've shopped at. They had some deals going on here that weren't being featured back at my usual location. Always fun to check out grocery stores when traveling. It was late and I needed to get dinner so I was excited to find a natural food store in this area. Love that many of the items are organic. A decent variety of plant-based foods and gluten free items. Big downside, the prices are very high. Sure the food is organic, etc. but this is Newport, KY and the prices were Los Angeles, CA prices. Fresh Thyme is a great little market to check out when you're tired of going to Kroger every other week. I wouldn't recommend doing your entire grocery shopping trip here ... but when you need some fresh produce and a few odd items, this is a nice spot to stop. I've never known this location to be very busy ... which is a nice change of pace from other grocery stores nearby. I've found some of the employees to be extremely helpful - the gentlemen who work at the meat counter in particular are always friendly and ready to recommend what's fresh. Some of the cashiers are warm and welcoming, others are just trying to get you through their line quickly so they can get on with their day. I suppose you'd find that anywhere ... but when you're spending a good deal more for organic, all-natural groceries, I'd say a smile is the least you can ask for. Their selection is also pretty diverse ... I've never walked in and not found something I was looking for. They even have items your big box grocery store might not have, like Canned Jackfruit. The produce section is probably where I spend the most time ... the quality is comparable to Whole Foods, while the prices are just a little bit less expensive. Their meats are always a good quality, and if you're looking for grass-fed, organic options, they typically have a good selection that's not too picked over. If you're eating Gluten-Free or Vegan, this is definitely the place for you. I also love their vitamins & supplements section. If you're into natural healing, you'll find a variety of offerings to fix whatever ails you ... although be prepared to pay a nice chunk of change for whatever you select. I shop at plenty of natural/local/etc. food markets, and I had trouble picking this one's niche. They do have some of the sorts of organic brands and special diet items that I come to these sorts of places for. They didn't have as much local as I was hoping; it was mostly big brand stuff. They also had a lot of stuff you'd find at a conventional grocery store. The best that could be said of them was that there was a lot of produce on sale, so I had a good excuse to buy actual fresh vegetables. There are a couple of things I was hoping to find there and couldn't, but it was a nice enough place to buy food. read more

This place is really pretty cool. It's got a pretty great selection at decent prices. However, while looking over the ad, it became clear that some of their prices are very, very reasonable. I spoke to one of the employees who worked at the meat counter, and she informed me that they hand prepared the sausages there daily. The theme here is quite cute. It's an indoor store, but it is themed like a farmers market and a Whole Foods/Earth Fare had a baby. It's a very positive bunch that work here. Everyone is smiling and in a great mood--even on the rainy Sunday I was here. I purchased some produce that was great quality and also some Tikka Masala sauce that was really wonderful. I try fresh thyme periodically because I like the products but I always forget how terrible the customer service is. And I'm very hard to upset or fluster (I was in customer service for ten years so I have a lot of forgiveness for retail workers). But the customer service at this FT ALWAYS ranges from uncomfortable to straight up mean. I always feel like a burden for existing there. And this time I got chastised for handing the coupon to the guy rather than making him take off the coupon himself. I did not realize what a faux pas it was. But he made me feel terrible for doing it. He then made me feel dumb for not having the app but entering my number in the pin pad. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I would honestly rather get the non existent customer service at Kroger than the rude service at fresh thyme. read more

I LOVE Fresh Thyme. Cincinnati has sorely needed a grocery store like Fresh Thyme. Not that there's anything necessarily wrong with Kroger's, but we as a city needed a Whole Foods quality store with Kroger-esque prices. Walking into a Fresh Thyme for the first time is a calming experience. Maybe I'm exaggerating, but for someone like me whos main gripe with Kroger is the over saturation of shoppers at any given time or day, the space between patrons at FT is a breath of fresh air. Their store is differently set up but easy to navigate. Baked goods to your right, followed in the northeast corner by their prepared food/bars and their deli/meat counters. Produce is in the back, and your frozen and refrigerated items are in the northwest corner. In front of that you'll find your pantry items, and in the front left there's healthy vitamins and alcohol. I like to work my way around starting in the baked goods. Pricing is excellent for the quality here. My Mike's Killer bread is typically half the price of Kroger's. Seafood and meat are competitive to Kroger prices and are much fresher. Plus, if you're an avid salmon eater like I am, they have pre-cut fresh filets ready to buy! Their produce is exceptionally priced as well. The only place that beats them in pricing is ALDI, but FT's produce quality is second to none. The people working in the store, in every department, seem to be genuinely happy to help and enjoy their jobs. One woman was very eager to assist me in finding frozen scallops. The cashier greeted me with a large smile and quickly gathered my items for me to leaves. Fresh Thyme is now #1 on the places I shop. I may stop by ALDI or Kroger in the rare event FT doesn't have what I need, but that's only happened once since I switched over. Fresh Thyme has a grocery store convert! read more

If you're not having fun while grocery shopping, you're wasting your precious time. Fresh Thyme is a great compromise between Whole Foods' trendiness and Kroger's prices-- with a much smaller, much less annoying crowd than either. Though smaller than your typical grocery store, it really packs in the options! I was so delighted to see a truly ~comprehensive~ ice cream section, and a produce section spanning nearly half the floorspace. But by far the greatest feature of this adorable chain is the ability to buy the exact amount you need of certain bulk items-- spices, teas, and fresh ground nut butters can be measured into their own containers and priced by weight. I found this extremely useful for bizarre spices you might only need a few teaspoons of for certain recipes. It's also a great way to get a small taste of something you're not sure you'll like! Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to down my midwest-sourced coconut ice cream so I can have a good excuse to come back here. A+ read more

Great store but the employees have serious attitude issues. They are rude and dismissive. Once I was trying to bring up my app for their store and asked if it had a scanner for the items on sale. She replied, I don't have any idea and rolled her eyes. Really? Today I tried to return a $5.00 loaf of bread which had been cut open inadvertently probably when opening the box. Didn't notice until I got home. Again, I was treated as if I was being ridiculous and a great imposition. There was no one in line and very few people in the store. I did not have the time nor patience to be treated this way. I spoke with a manager and he was very nice and apologized for his staff. (He's the reason for any of the stars). I am unsure whether his staff realizes that customers are their paycheck, or are sorely underpaid, but I will stick with Kroger or Whole Foods for now. I prefer being treated nicely. read more

When I go into a super market, I'm a tough critic. That's why I was super excited about Fresh Thyme. I thought to myself "finally, a specialty food store close by that I can enjoy". I usually go out of the way to actually go to specialty super markets when I have time - especially when I'm preparing a meal for a special occasion or just have extra time on a weekend. That said, I was a little let down by my fist experience at Fresh Thyme. First, let me clarify that I'm the type of person that will be immediately enamored with any super market that struts out top notch "exterior" isles. This would include produce, meat, deli and bakery. These are the items I usually buy, and I tend to focus far less on the store's innards. What I found at Fresh Thyme was that none of their "exterior" departments were all that formidable relative to other supermarkets, let alone specialty super markets, and I actually found the meat department to be grossly lacking. Their severe lack of red meat, pork and chicken were actually extremely surprising. A lot of times when I go into a specialty store, I go in with no intent other than to make a dinner, which for me evolves around a meat centric main course - doing that here would be an issue. I'll be a patron here, I'm just less thrilled about it than I was. Kudos to them for carrying some things I haven't seen since living in Charlotte. Also the store is clean and well stocked it seems. For those that don't like crowds, I'd wait for the I grand opening to die down. read more

Woooohooo. I moved from Kansas City and I had been shopping at sprouts out there. It was a huge difference shopping in Kroger, so I ended up asking for suggestions about stores on talk. Thankfully I was recommended this place. Found everything I wanted here. Loose walnuts, raisins, dairy free alternatives, tempeh and the best could was being able to grind my coffee coarser to use in my French press. Highly recommend this place for those who want to eat healthy but at reasonable prices. Ample parking in the front and clean premises. read more

POOR TREATMENT OF EMPLOYEES! I am a teacher and visit the dollar tree very frequently to pick up cheap Necessities for my classroom. I have always loved this dollar tree it's the largest and most organized in my area, plus I've always had great customer service. Tonight I was picking up a few containers to store snacks in. I was at register 4 I believe and Ashley was the cashier. There was an elderly lady in front of me with about 14 items and she was adding the bags to her cart. There was NOTHING to separate our items on the check out belt. So I was standing close to my items but the sensors to detect when an item was close to the scanner were in need of an update because my items went crashing into hers. Neither I or the elderly women warned the cashier that our items were not together. She scanned my containers unknowing thinking they were the woman's because as I said the sensors did not work properly and there was no bar to separate our items. The old lady then said oh that's not mine! I said I'm so sorry I thought she was already cashed out or I would have said something. Ashely apologized deeply and said let me get my manager to take these items off. She retrieved her manager and explained what happened. Her manager said I have to void these and you know what that means. Ashley then had a look of despair on her face Then her manager, in front of not only myself and the lady in front of me but the line of people now behind us, said you're going to get written up for this. Being a child of a single mother who used to work at a dollar tree and it was her only source of income to support her two children. My heart was broken. I immediately told the manager it was an honest mistake and it was my fault for not letting her know the items were separate. The manager rolled her eyes at me and then shrugged her shoulders and walked away. I was appalled as well as many other customers in line! Ashley repeatedly apologized for unconvincing us and spoke to myself and everyone involved with in a genuinely polite manner. If being human and making a mistake, which many of us have done just using self check outs and ringing one item a few to many times, will get an employee in trouble at this establishment then I will not be returning. Not only to this dollar tree but any. I understand they want their employees to be efficient. I am not sure how frequently this happens to her. But this situation was out of Ashley's control and her register needs to be fixed and have separation bars added to allow her to avoid issues like these. read more

Dollar Tree is a great place to find party supplies. From matching plastic cutlery, table clothes, paper plates and napkins to paper streamers and balloons. They also have a decent selection of mylar helium balloons. My favorite is the greeting cards that are two for a dollar. Perfect for stuffing money or gift cards in. Also, cleaning supplies and small candles are a good find here. My only complaint is that the customer service isn't consistent and sometimes the lines are long, but it's worth the wait to save a few bucks. read more

Fresh Thyme is my grocery of choice these days. The produce is so fresh and there is always a deal going on, especially for the items that are in season. The prices are so much better than Kroger and the quality is usually better as well. I also utilize the deli and am pleased with the quality there. They offer fresh thyme brand deli selections which I do not like. But they also offer Boar's Head products and a different meat and cheese option is always on sale from week to week. Usually the deli is operated by one person, so expect to wait. The meat and seafood department is also wonderful and the sale prices here are incredible too. The selection isn't quite as wide and varied as it is at Kroger, but everything is fresh and the quality is top notch. The check-out lanes aren't run as efficiently as at Kroger and I often spend quite a bit of time waiting in line, but in saving so much money by shopping here that I don't really mind. read more

I absolutely love this Fresh Thyme location! I am here at least 2-3 times a week to hit up their amazing salad bar at lunch time. I work on the west side of downtown and there isn't much in terms of affordable lunch around that area so I usually drive to Newport. The selection in Newport is fast food or take out, but I am usually just craving a delicious, fresh salad. Once I discovered the salad bar here I was hooked. They always have tons of freshly chopped toppings and usually always have an assortment of protein such as chicken or turkey. I have also tried some of the soups they offer and all of them are delicious! When I'm not feeling a salad I will usually grab some prepared fruit or a protein bar from the grocery area. The employees are super nice and it's a really convenient way to stay on track with eating healthy! Whenever I bring my salad back to work my coworkers are always asking where it's from - I tell them about Fresh Thyme like it's my own little secret! read more

Well organized, friendly, tons of selection, and some great deals! Prices are as expected for organic/specialty foods/gluten free but there were quite a few great deals. Blueberries and blackberries only 77 cents per container!! Large salad bar, fresh pizza/calzones, juice bar, good meat selection, lots of gummys. I liked that there are a ton of grab and go options like pre made salads, picnic "baskets", egg rolls, pre made meals, Etc. Can't wait to come back and try more stuff. So I often buy things at the dollar tree that can't possibly be a rip off. I.e. dishwashing liquid, a cheap broom to use outdoors, etc. After today though, I am never going back. First off, I was checking out the cleaning supplies and was treated to a VERY loud, VERY inarticulate employee talking about some details of the store I didn't really care to know. Yes, I know the Dollar Tree isn't a top shelf sort of a store. But I didn't need to know how "nasty" their breakroom is, or how many rats are in the Mason store. I strictly buy cleaning supplies there, period. The (unwillingly) overheard conversation put me off so much that I didn't browse anymore, just took my soap up to the front to check out. Then, even though they "accept" Mastercard, I was told that they only accept Mastercard when run as a debit card. I have a bad habit of forgetting my pin number so I always run my card as credit. I have worked in retail extensively and have never heard of a place accepting Visa, Discover and American Express as credit, but Mastercard only as debit. It just doesn't make any sense. The whole experience was disgusting and aggravating. I urge you not to waste your time. read more

This is by far my favorite grocery store in the area for deals. I literally always look forward to Tuesday, when they email me their weekly deals. I rush to make a list to get the best deals on Wednesday because if you go that date, you get the deals from the previous week's ad AND the upcoming week! AMAZING!! The location is always clean, all the workers are crazy nice, and I am more than often surprised at the quality of the produce (especially for the price!). The only downside is I have found that produce or products that aren't on sale are usually higher priced than other grocery stores. So I usually shop the weekly ad, then I head to another store to get the cheaper, every day items. But all in all, this store is glorious, I LOVE shopping here! read more

I'm consistently impressed by the quality and availability variety of the produce. They also offer some of the best bath products. I used to stop in for only a few special items but I find myself going for more and more since I find the store small enough to not consume hours of my time just walking from one side to the other. And they consistently have the produce, snacks, and frozen products I actually eat. Last time I was in I decided to grab a whole roasted chicken (seasoned) and OMG GIRL it was SO good. I was really impressed. Flavorful, juicy, and tender (not to mention fresh and cooked all the way through!). Dollar Tree is my go-to place for greeting cards ($.50 each!), cheap seasonal & party decor, and random stuff like cheap picture frames. Lines always go fast and staff is friendly. Of course it's not one-stop shopping, but its close proximity to Remke, Kroger, Target (and future Dick's & TJMaxx) make it worth a quick detour if you're already shopping at one of those places. read more

Love this store as it gives more options. Often the produce is better quality and even less expensive. I think they have some work to do though as I must STRESS, check expiration dates... I have purchased two products that were past their expiration date. First item was ravioli and I hadn't kept the receipt so I tossed the 5$ pasta. Next item was pirate booty.. had receipt and store was awesome about refunding and giving a free bag. Dollar Tree is the only dollar store that truly sells everything for only $1.00. Each branch tends to sell a different variety of goods too; this one I find myself buying office supplies, gift bags, holiday stuff, storage containers and travel items. Of course, they have aisles and aisles of everything. There is just more of the aforementioned goods than other stores. It's amazing what one can get for a dollar, and even more astounding how much money is wasted on overpriced goods elsewhere. Some of the staples I've picked up include: - a broom - giant gift bags with tissue paper - two large shipping envelopes - a three-pack of travel sized bottles - extension cord - car visor CD holder Each of these cost only $1.00...can you believe it!?! Dollar Tree is a no-frills store where you can find essentials or just some random items that catch your eye.They do have an odd credit card policy, but they accept all debit cards and they can be used as credit. I love the selection here, especially the wide variety of produce and bulk items. One big downside, though: the baggers are terrible. Every time I come here my groceries are packed horribly. Last time it was cans of beans on top of a loaf of bread; this time it was a carton of eggs on top of a bunch of parsley. If they could figure this out, Fresh Thyme would hands-down be my favorite grocery in the area for price+selection. read more

I got 2 packes of batteries, Christmas window clings, candy, chap stick and it was all so cheap. I was especially excited about dollar batteries! This has a great selection of natural personal health products (hand soaps, shampoos, deodorants, etc.). And it is has a great layout for a grocery store. There is a lot of space and it is very organized. But of course it is expensive compared to your regular grocer and I was disappointed in the bakery and fresh meats departments. I think Trader Joe's has more bakery goods and does not have as much space as Fresh Thyme. BONUS: They carry hundreds of gluten-free items. That is a big selling point. read more

Great bulk selection, organic produce, store brand deli meats that rival Boar's Head, a huge wellness section, and much more. Their store brand stuff is delicious and inexpensive. No it's not a one stop shop (I'm sure it could be for some people but not me) but Kroger is right across the street for the rest of my needs. I'm a big fan and you should check it out. read more

This is the other Fresh Thyme store that I shop at. When I am in the Newport area it is very convenient to run in here. It is just off the I-275 exit at Carothers Road. Today I was running some errands with my dad and per their email 16 ounce packages of strawberries were on sale for $0.99. Parking was quick and easy. The produce items on sale are displayed near the front door. There are always baskets near the entrance for small shopping trips. There were plenty of strawberries with a limit of 2 per customer but a lot of them were overly ripe. Since I planned to take some to work today and freeze the rest this was ok. Remembering that I also needed a green pepper I search for this also. The store was not busy so checking out was fast. The cashier was friendly. Fresh Thyme always has great specials on produce and meats like chicken and sausage. I recommend that you give them a try. They have an app and an email program. This is a great place for a farmers market grocery. Went there today and got a lot of really nice produce and wanted to pick up some other vegan/vegetarian items. Overall they have a pretty good selection of health food options; however, the prices were pretty expensive compared to items at the Newport Kroger. We ended up making a list of the items they had there that were also available at Kroger's that were less expensive, and made a quick trip after to Kroger's to get those items. Overall this place is great for local and organic produce, pretty good for sea food. Other than that there are better options for everything else. I will definitely return for the produce and would recommend it for that. read more

Pros: Fairly decent selection. Pre made healthy meals and fresh juice bar are a plus. Fresh baked bread that you can slice yourself. Con: Prices are about 20% higher than my regular grocery. This will be a good drop in for a few choice specialty items but I'll stick with Kroger for my weekly trips! read more

We visited this market for the first time this past Sunday. I had high hopes but many of the meats and seafood looked a little gray and old. The bakery area was pretty small. I liked the wide selection of personal care items. This market is not for me. Frozen and freezer burnt selections are not FRESH. read more
