The stores that I have visited have a good variety of items for selection. My complaint is with their website, it is not useful at all. Aldi's if you are gonna have a website post the prices for your items. Web site sucks. read more

I like national brands.. I grew up eating/consuming national brands. Granted, we used coupons to save money, but we never purchased items in black and white boxes. Remember, that's how generic use to be packaged!? Anyway.. my husband has always been receptive to generic and over the years I've come to appreciate some Kroger brand items as well. But I never considered shopping at Aldi. I incorrectly perceived them to be one big generic store. My husband began working for a company with an Aldi close by. He'd stop in and grab little things at first... right around the time we really began reading labels on our food. He mentioned to me that many of their items contain minimal ingredients and often times the high fructose corn syrup that is in national brands isn't present in items at Aldi's. He got my attention with those revelations. I began visiting my local Aldi and there are several items I LOVE!! I won't list them, but I encourage you to find your own. I will admit that it's sometimes a nuisance to bring your own bags but we have to start being kinder to the earth anyway so it's a welcomed inconvenience... and you save a ton of money. I'm a sucker for a good deal. I don't always shop at Aldi, but when I do, I there's always a good deal to be had. Be sure to bring two things: a quarter get a cart (you'll get the quarter back) and reusable grocery bags. If you've never shopped at Aldi, the first thing you'll notice is that you won't find the huge variety of brands that you do at most of the big box stores (the ones that carry all the big name brands at least). The lack of variety is made up for by the great savings! The savings are undeniably noticeable. I also like that I find new brands that I haven't tried before - it's always great to try something new. Returning your own cart to the store and bringing your own bags feels like a small price to pay to keep costs low and support a more sustainable way of living. I'll definitely venture back to Aldi soon to score some good deals. read more

I love shopping at this Aldi because of several reasons. 1) must bring or buy (cheap) reusable shopping bags. You bag your own groceries which for me I like to do. 2) as a single person, I like this because I can buy a variety of smaller packaged items that won't expire before I can eat it! Though if you have a family to feed, you can get that too. 3) it's smaller so it's not as overwhelming for me like that of Kroger or similar. read more

I love shopping at Aldi, and specifically this location in Newport. Every time I come in there are new foods on display and all of the Aldi staples are always fully stocked. You cannot pass up the prices Aldi has - my most frequent purchases include zucchini (3 for the price of 1 at Kroger), cauliflower (cheaper than Kroger), onions, blueberries, strawberries, almond milk, eggs, etc. basically all the staples you would need at much cheaper prices than other stores. I also have to add that most of the produce I have gotten from Aldi has had a longer shelf life than that at Kroger or other stores - and by shelf life I am referring to how long the produce lasts fresh once I bring it home. Aldi has opened me up to some of my new favorite foods as well, I often try new things due to the low prices - some of my new favorite finds include rice cakes, apple butter, gluten free pretzels, almond butter, etc. Checkout is often very fast and the cashiers are super efficient. I also appreciate it is all reusable bags here and that you have to use a quarter to get a shopping cart - helps make things efficient, more sustainable, and helps the company out with preventing carts from being stolen. Would recommend anyone give Aldi a try if possible - just know the selection is smaller so if you're looking for something very specific Aldi most likely won't have it - everything they have is very basic / kitchen and cooking staples. If you have yet to discover how amazing Aldi is you have to check it out. An Aldi essential is making sure you bring a quarter for your cart (you get it back), and reusable bags. The money you can save here is unreal and the quality of their products is great. Some of my favorite things to buy here are meats and cheeses for charcuterie boards, they have such an awesome variety. I also love the chocolate hummus. It sounds weird, but tastes delicious! They also have their own version of Girl Scout cookies that are just as good, if not better. I recently bought a pair of their velvety leggings and they are incredibly comfortable and they were only $8. If you are a first time Aldi shopper I recommend going in the store the first time without a list, that way you can see what they have. Now that I'm a regular Aldi shopper I do almost all of my shopping here and can plan my meals based on things that I know they always have. read more

I love coming to this Aldi! It has amazing prices, delicious produce, and just about everything you need. Not the same kind of customization you find at Kroger (for example being able to buy a couple of bananas vs having to buy a whole bunch) but the value and quality far outweigh the negative. Don't come with a specific list, come flexible. Highly recommend swinging by if you are looking to peruse or be inspired for a meal based on what's available; you never know what you might find. Only inconveniences are the quarter for a shopping cart and bringing your own bags but both make sense with their business proposition, just makes it difficult to stop here on a whim sometimes. read more

As I am helping my dad out recently after his discharge from the hospital and had some furnace problems at my house I have had the opportunity to return to this store several more times. I was always impressed by their good prices on basic food items but especially on produce. Also I always received good customer service. The other day I was helping my dad run some errands and was pleasantly surprised when I ran in there to get bananas and berries. There was a "new lower price" sign on the bananas and they were loose not bagged in the bin. My biggest criticism has been about all the prepackaged produce. I want to pick it out myself. Now I can. So if there is anyone out there who feels like me I suggest that you too go to this Aldi store and encourage them to continue this new approach to selling produce. Oh dear Aldi, you may have won my heart for weekly dietary necessities away from Trader Joe's --- honest! I stopped in armed with a quarter (you need it to secure a grocery cart) and my own hippie shopping bags (you need those too and also a mind for bagging your own products) on a Saturday afternoon when I knew Kroger's and TJ's would surely be packed. I didn't exactly know what to expect but I knew I needed the basics. People, it was amazing, no lie. Produce was fresh (avocados, lettuce, grapes, apples) and the selection of other items I enjoy was on point (block cheese, yogurt, turkey bacon). The prices were seriously a kin to me feeling like I was stealing from the chain --- I was impressed. Usually I spent $60-$100 on 7-10 days of groceries and I managed to snag everything this week for $40 flat. This place is my new jam, y'all should give it a shot too! read more

Aldi is a small store, so it is FAST. That's why I love it. You can always park close. Once you get to know the store layout, you zip through and get everything you need. Checkout is FAST. The checkers actually are in competition to see who scans fastest. I love that bags aren't given out at Aldi. Your checked-out groceries are put back in a cart, and it is your decision whether to buy bags, bring your own, or go without. The prices are the best of anywhere and the quality is great. read more

Great prices and quality of products is very good too. When I first started coming here I too was a little apprehensive with the layout/ set up and also not having brand names but when I started coming regularly I realized what great stuff they have! I love their salsas, hummus, cheeses and gourmet dips so much cheaper than the big stores! Meat selection and produce has a nice variety and quality also. Aldi in Newport is our new go-to for groceries. While there are a few brand name items we can't get here, all of of our weekly staples are here and for half the price it costs us at Kroger. The fruit is always fresh and the fresh meat section gives you so much more bang for your buck. If you've never been, being a quarter for your cart (you'll get it back when you return it) and remember to bring your own reusable bags... if you forget, no biggie- they cost 10 cents! If you've never been, I'd 1000% recommend going and seeing what the hype is all about. read more

Aldi is a discount grocery store. it's selection is limited but the prices are great.

Terrible customer service. Manager refused to help me. Corporate response is slow. Issues aren't easy to resolve here.

If you haven't been here, you don't know what you're missing. Best organic items and produce, you don't pay the price of superfluous marketing, packaging and other things you don't need. read more
