Bryan and I got out this weekend to Fabbioli Cellars, a local winery which was reccomemded by a friend to be a great Covid-conscious place to visit. We have only been out to eat or drink twice since March, once on a restaurant patio, and once at another winery doing strictly outside service. Both of those times we have been uncomfortable and uneasy, not confident in the safety of our experience, and have been left disappointed and feeling as though we had done something wrong. I cannot say enough good things about our experience at Fabbioli. We felt comfortable, confident, safe, and overall just releived to be out somewhere together guilt free. Below details our experience, for anyone who would like to be able to enjoy an outdoor winery experience in the unsure and stressful atmosphere COVID-19 has created. Fabbioli is welcoming guests by reservation only on weekends. We called last minute (Saturday morning) to see if they had any available "time slots" for that afternoon. We were told they had avaialability later that afternoon at 2:30. A few hours and a beautiful drive later, we arrived at the winery. We of course brought Goose along for the adventure as well . (10 plus bonus points for being dog friendly!) When you arrive, you check in at a white tent they set up outside the tasting room. While they have some availability indoors, we opted for an outdoor table since we had the puppy with us. We were given a table number and general direction as to where our table was located. We walked around to the backside of the building, and to my delight discovered that the table spacing was very generous (way more than 6 feet) and most of the tables were empty. When we found our table, the closest table to us was a good 12 feet, and the closest occupied table was even more than that. It was hot, 85 degrees, but there was a breeze and we ordered a bottle of chilled Rose and got comfortable. You order inside the building, at a cash register. All the employees walking inside and outside were wearing masks, and the floors were clearly marked to help guests maintain social distancing while inside the building. We brought a bowl of water for the pup, as was suggested over the phone, since they are not giving out dog water bowls at this time (due to safety). They have canopies installed outside so the tables are shaded and comfortable even on a hot summer day. Although it was in the 80's, the breeze and the shade made it feel great but I'm sure the Rose helped. What I was really impressed with overall was the cleanliness. When you depart, you check out as well. A couple tables checked out while we were there, and immediately you see a staff member come out wearing a mask to bus the table. They also thoroughly wipe down the tables AND chairs with disinfectant. know that most restaurants have these type of measures currently in place, but the detail felt genuine and with purpose. It was so refreshing to feel taken care of. My feeling upon leaving was that we were carefully considered as a guest. Overall, outstanding experience. I can't wait to return! Goose also had a blast sniffing around and trying to figure out were the cows were. read more

Disclaimer: we came on a quiet weekday and were the only customers, which meant that we got the full Fabbioli experience (minus the tour but we still really enjoyed our tastings). Each tasting is $15 with food pairings, such as biscuits with mango chutney or quinoa basil pesto. These pairings supposedly change monthly, and the pairings for Thanksgiving included stuffing and a pie varietal (so sad I missed out on that!). At most wineries I visit, I have a distinct favorite and few non-memorable wines but each wine at Fabbioli is so unique and delicious. (Even still, raspberry merlot is marvelous as everyone noted as a raspberry wine & merlot blend.) In addition to the wines themselves, we also got to hear about Fabbioli himself and his journey to craft and perfect his wines. The pictures on the bottles as well as their names are quite special and personal to Fabbioli and his family (this I won't spoil so that you can hear about it on your visit), although my favorite pictures were the Rosa Luna and Tre Sorelle. Did I mention that you get to sit down for your tastings? I've never quite learned so much about a wine maker during a wine tasting before so Fabbioli's Cellars really seemed like an invitation to an artist's home to partake in his creations. We will return many times! read more

I had heard good things about this winery from a friend and I decided to take her advice and give it a try after brunch with some friends one day. The decor in the winery was... interesting. There was an affinity for cats... Be advised the winery is not child friendly. The winery was doing girl scout cookie and wine pairings, which we all opted for. We also did a regular tasting, so we had 2. I was unimpressed with the complexity of the wine and it had a "homemade" taste. It was possible that the wine had been sitting in plastic dixie cups waiting to be served for a tasting for some time, but it was not as good as I had hoped for. We sat upstairs as a group and there was a tarot card reader that was a lot of fun for us to all try! We had decided to get a glass of wine on top of the pairings, as the tastings were small dixie cups. This is my fault, but I should have looked at the prices prior to ordering a glass. Apparently I chose an expensive glass of wine and paid $22 for one glass of wine, that in my opinion was mediocre, but the best one they had to offer. We were enjoying ourselves, deep in conversation and not caring about the cost.... unfortunately, we were told they decided to close early for the Superbowl (despite any posting). We were asked to leave early and so was a group of about 8 people beside us. There are so many good wineries along Rt 15 that I would probably not stop here again. read more

I felt this was a bit overrated for me. It was my friend's go-to and I am glad she loves it as much as she does. We have differing tastes though, I guess when it comes to wine tastings. Fabbioli is very commercialized. They price for their tastings is very outlandish, and the food they pair the wine with is so minimal that it doesn't even make a difference if it is there or not. For $15 you get a taste of 6 - 8 wines and bites that go with the wine. You pay before you participate in the tasting. Your full group has to be there or they won't seat you to try the tasting. I feel like I am pretty much repeating what Dave H. said in the fact that they seem very scripted when talking about the wine. Our particular host was talking about how they were short staffed that day and how she wanted a break. I was already a bit turned off at this point which probably didn't give me the optimal experience due to my feelings of being overwhelmed with how they handled the crowds. Were the staff nice? Yes. Were the wines good? Yes. Did I enjoy the minimal small bites? Yes. Did I feel rushed like we meant to be in and out within a certain time so they could seat more people? Yes, and I felt that the experience would have ben more enjoyable if I didn't feel like they were herding cattle in and out of the place. My friends bought a wine membership, and my significant other bought 3 bottles of wine for $73 - they were running a special. I won't be rushing back. It's not the kind of place I would want to go for a wine tasting when I want a relaxed and enjoyable experience with a personal touch. read more

We've been back a couple of times since my previous review and had very different experiences. Still have small pours and tiny bites of food, but everything was very good! The staff are very friendly and helpful, too. There's a very nice outdoor deck to enjoy your wine (or cider) on. They also have a couple of very friendly cats that you may need to step over if they decide to nap in the middle of the floor. It was adorable! read more

We showed up at 4:15pm and the general manager was abrasive and not welcoming. We had a group of 10 and wanted to buy a couple bottles of wine. The GM greeted us with saying that they close at 5, which we knew, and that because we didn't have a reservation (when no one was there) we weren't welcome. When we continued to tell her we'd be in and out- she became more combative. Her workers are suffering from her rude behavior and losing out on money. read more

One of my favorite winery's in NoVa. Great wine and a beautiful venue to sit and sip

The property was nice and inviting. The warm welcome didn't happen which was shocking since we had 30 people or $450 in tastings plus any purchases. I expected better. The wines were okay; the petit manseng was awesome. The tasting paired with small bites was innovative and tasty; the pours were laughable - barely enough to taste. Now for the real shocker - when I asked about taking wine to go, I was laughed at by one of the employees. Then when I said I was serious, it was assumed that I wanted to drink and drive with my wine - where they do that at?!?! I simply wanted to take some wine and cups on the party bus which I've done every year on prior wine tours without judgement. Overall, I will not return. read more

I was here with friends and family this past weekend for wine tastings. Our group was sent down to the actual cellar for our tasting -- the host was glad to chat with us but on a mnumber of specific questions she had to pass, and there did not seem to be anyone else we could ask. We moved through the wines along with tiny, tiny bites that were fine for what they were. I found it a bit depressing that so many of the libations were made with grapes or other fruits shipped in from elsewhere. OF the two tasting venues we visited, the wines here were somewhat better, but the bottles available for sale were very highly priced, even higher than Zephaniah. And somewhat deceptively priced -- the drink I thought hardest about buying was a desserty raspberry merlot, a combination of raspberry juice with wine, but it turned out that the bottle price shown on the price list we saw during the tasting was actually a HALF bottle. I was so disgusted that I just left the bottle sitting on the counter. As opposed to the atmosphere at the tasting itself, there was a pleasant outdoor sitting area where we enjoyed a "cheese plate" that we bought as well as a collection of fruit and nuts and crackers that we had brought along. Very very pleasant. read more

Fabbioli, you gave me my first food & wine pairing tasting... and boy was it awesome. $15 for a tasting gets you 6 or 7 wines and some food samples to pair with it. My favorite wine is their Zinfandel followed by the Tre Sorelle (bold red). If you're a huge fan of white wine you may want to consider going elsewhere as this winery boasts one, named "Something White" since the owner Doug Fabbioli had a longtime focus with reds (so great news if you love reds!). The tasting room gives you lovely views of their vineyard, of which you are able to walk around after your tasting. Makes for a good Instagram or Snapchat opportunity, right? Overall, such a sweet and pleasant time at this winery! The future looks even brighter as they seek to expand their winery and add a deck! :) read more

So sad to give such an awful review- I love Fabbioli's wine and food pairing and they have good wine- apparently recently they have made the winery 21 and up only after 2:00 pm. We've been coming here for years but just had a baby this year and weren't aware of this (maybe) new policy? We were outside with our 9 month old- who was playing on a blanket in the grass and were told we had to leave. The winery was mostly empty. We won't be coming back. read more

Long been our favorite place to order from, they had a 10% case discount for the holiday weekend, so we decided to visit the actual winery for the first time in 4.5 years. In that time, their tasting price has gone up from $5 to $15, and the pours are much smaller. But they now include a small bite of food with each wine, encouraging you to sip, eat, and then sip again to taste the difference. I loved that. And the bites were delicious, too! So I'd say it all works out for the better. The tastings are still run in small groups, so that you get personalized attention, and our girl was very friendly and knowledgeable. The first wine was Una Pera - a sweet white made with Asian pears (they actually place the bottle around a young pear and let it grow inside the bottle, it's pretty cool). This was paired with a pea puff topped with honeyed goat cheese and a sweet potato crisp. Next was Something White (a joke from people asking the owner when he was going to start making "something white") - a Viogner and Vidal Blanc blend, paired with mascarpone and sea salt caramel on a cracker. The first red was a light Sangiovese, that is good for hot weather and as a table wine - pared with grilled asparagus and garlic cheddar, wrapped in prosciutto. Next was a dry Zinfandel (our least favorite), paired with a roasted beet crisp and salted ginger thyme butter. The Tre Sorelle was also dry - Jasper liked it, I didn't. It was paired with goat cheese, rosemary, and smoked sundried tomato on a saltine. The first of the dessert wines was the Raspberry Merlot, made with raspberries grown on property. I'm fond of this sweet table wine, Jasper is not. It pairs beautifully with chocolate, and the bite they provided us was, in fact, a dark chocolate truffle. Last was Jasper's favorite (he orders it by the case, and has been known to drink a whole bottle in one evening) - Rosa Nera, a black raspberry port. They served it with a lemon honey truffle - I wouldn't have thought to go with such a bright lemon flavor, but it really worked. I love the small bite tasting idea, it makes me really want to host a tasting at my house and do something similar. We brought some salami and cheese with us, to have a picnic lunch outside, but you can also buy food there. read more

Voted ad winery of the year 2016 in Loudoun County wine award ceremony last August, I thought I should check it out. I particularly wanted to try the cab franc 2012 that won the gold during that award ceremony but it was sold out. We settled with the 2013 reserve- it was okay a little lighter than medium body- it lacks the peppery or strong aromas I was expecting but overall a very fruit forward wine and easy on the palette for its smooth texture. The winery charges $15 per tasting of 7 varietal, which is a bit higher than most other wineries in the area so I recommend either getting a glass or a bottle to enjoy instead. The price ranges from $20 to $40 depending on the varietal. This visit, the 2013 cab franc was $35 and because I was in the industry I was given a 20% off so that was nice. If you're new into Reds, I'd recommend the Chambourcin for $20 i is worth the price for a light bordeaux style wine. A solid 3 for me for a lot of other easons i dare not enumerate at this time... read more

This winery does it differently than all the others I've been to before. They have themed tastings and the one we went to was Star Wars themed! They also provide "bites" with their tastings so you sip, bite, sip again to enhance the flavor of the wine you are trying. The bites are all different and prepared to compliment the wine you are tasting and they are even numbered for simplicity! The experience alone was enough to sell me on this great find but the wine is top notch! read more

This is a really cute winery in Leesburg. I loved the decor inside and the views of the vines and landscaping are very impressive. On to the tasting...my husband and I were seated with three other people after waiting a few minutes (no big deal). We paid $15 per person to sample 7 wines with food pairing bites. It's a very fun tasting experience. However the sad part is that my husband and I both enjoyed the food bites more than the wines. We were both in agreement that we didn't enjoy any of the wines enough to purchase any bottles. Our wine steward was nice enough but it was very obvious that she did not have a passion for her job or the winery. In conclusion, you could have a nice time here but with all of the rules and regulations you have to be prepared to spend a lot of money. The rules are clearly posted everywhere, no outside food and drinks. I would recommend going somewhere with live music instead. read more

My favorite winery in the area! The wine is absolutely magnificent. I generally prefer a nice Cabernet, but I love trying the variety they offer as a part of a tasting. They also have the perfect pairings! Each wine sample comes with a small bite of food that compliments the unique wine flavor. Makes for an amazing tasting experience. I also recommend their delicious custom cheese boards and chocolates. The choice of wine really depends on your taste buds but personally I enjoyed their Una Pera, Something White, Petit Manseng and Ladies Man. The outside area is very cozy. In the winter and fall they have heaters and fire pits. However, something for parents to be aware of, families with children are not allowed on the main patio. There are picnic areas around the ranch where the families with kids generally settle in. read more

I keep wanting to like Fabbioli, but yet every time I go there, it just seems "eh". The biggest plus is that all of their tastings are paired with food bites (a vegetarian option is available). The staff are friendly, but inconsistently educated about their wines and some of their staff is a bit snooty. However, the biggest thing that annoys me is a recent change in policy. They no longer allow children inside their tasting room. It is irrelevant if the child is 6 weeks old or 12 years old. The wines (not a part of my rating): some are good, some not so much. The pear wine is super interesting - I just wish the bottle with the pair in it was less money. read more

I love cider! I had to take a drive when I saw a recommendation on Northern Virginia Magazine's website for "Berry Good Friends Strawberry Cider." It was worth the trip. The cider is mighty tasty. But that's not why I'm writing this review. I stopped at the Wine Tasting Room first. They directed me to the Speakeasy across the parking lot. I want you to know that the staff at the Speakeasy is AWESOME! The two ladies were friendly, helpful and very patient with a cider novice like me. Check Fabbioli Cellars' website for upcoming events. Crowded, rushed, thimble sized tastings. Skip this one. Better yet, go to France and see how REAL vintners do tastings. This was our second visit after a year, seems things are sliding the opposite direction. Very high volume on weekend, so the business plan is more production based, move then in and out @ $15 pp kinda a rip off. Also wines we wanted to taste were unfortunately not available. Prices too high for quality = gouging. Better experience and larger pours at other less known operators in area. read more

I first went to Fabbioli about two years ago. The people at Tarara Winery recommended it when I asked for another vineyard in the area to try. I prefer the wines from Tarara but they are more expensive. The tasting at Fabbioli is a better value than the standard tasting at Tarara. For $10 at Fabbioli you get to try 8 or so wines and they are paired with either chocolate or cheese (I went with the cheese). The food pairing is a newer thing and I rather like it. Fabbioli now has a white wine called Something White - named because the owner kept hearing, "I like your reds, but don't you have something white?" The white is a nice refreshing wine - a great accompaniment to some fresh veggies, olives, and cheese while enjoying Fabbioli's outdoor seating. My friends and I have gone through a few bottles on our past visits. Fabbioli is a nice casual winery to visit on a nice day where you can take advantage of their outdoor seating after enjoying the tasting. read more

$15 wine/food pairing tasting fee for 7 wines and the teeny, tiniest, most delightful tasting, thumb sized bites. A little over priced? Why yes, but the food really complimented the tasting so I'd pony up for it. The only stand out drink was their Pear Cider, made from Asian pears on their property. Their wines were decent....the whites more so than their reds. The location was nestled by suburban homes. It's not ideal but if one has enough to drink, it won't bother. My wife and I are novice enophiles. I took a chance this afternoon one seeing that this winery offered food pairings with the wine. It's a little pricey for a tasting ($15) but definitely worth it. So smart to give you a real idea of how you might use their product. Their tastings are conducted while you are seated and the sommelier is quite knowledgable. After sampling seven wines we decided to take home their "bridge wine", the "Paco Rojo" which is a blend of white and red grapes. As the winery had live music out on the lawn and the weather was perfect only half the bottle made it to the car. Fabbioli changes up the wines and food pairings monthly. We're going back. read more

I enjoyed a visit to Fabbioli Cellars! Pros: - The tasting was $15 and included 8 wines plus 6 little bites of food that were nicely paired with the wine. It was also a seated tasting, which was different and nice! - The property was very cute and had lots of seating! There are three levels of seating plus tons of chairs and tables outside. - We were greeted upon entering and didn't have to wait for our tasting. - They have a ton of variety in their wine offerings. From sweet to dry to ciders, there is something for everyone. They shared that their tasting menu changes monthly, which is great for repeat visitors. - They have wine flights and food available for sale. Cons: - They asked if we had any allergies before preparing our snack bites and despite sharing that my fiancé and I have nut allergies, our plates arrived with a pecan included. Thankfully we noticed and were able to have this swapped out. - They don't allow coolers. They told us we could eat our cheese and crackers downstairs, which was fine, but they went out of their way several times to tell us that smelly food wasn't allowed to the point that we felt awkward. Our cheese wasn't funky, I promise. We also felt like we were in the employee break room, which was kind of weird. I'm happy we were able to eat, but they didn't make us feel very welcomed with the cooler in hand. read more

The grounds of this winery are very nice. It was an early Fall morning when we headed over to Leesburg to visit a few wineries. Fabbioli is impressive. They have a nice upscale tasting room. The greeters are the door enforce the tastings. Your party needs to be complete before they will escort you to one of their tasting bars. Tasting were about $15 for a food and wine tasting. The food was very minimal. It was so small and relevant, it really wasn't needed. The price point was too pricey for the experience. The staff performing the tasting seemed to have memorized a script. The wines were ok yet pricey. There are so many wineries in this county. With high prices for tastings and bottles, it would be a while before I returned here. read more

Wines - selection was nice, wines were good but the pours were tiny. It was more expensive than other wineries and seems like it's a "people's" favorite. They had food pairing there and that was okay. I only really liked 1 or 2 of the food pairings and didn't care much about the other ones. Scenery - it was average. Staff - Nice and knowledgeable, if you go on a weekend, they may seem a bit rushed in order to minimize wait time for groups. We stopped in after another area winery suggested we give Fabbioli a try and as soon as we entered were greeted by a counter and someone at a register, as if to sell tickets. We were explained that they do things alittle differently here, as they sell tastings with pairings for $15 each, we pay then and they will take us back into the tasting room when a table opened. We actually liked how this was set up, as it will help prevent the "pushiness" that occurs at popular vineyards when there are too many people gathered around the tasting bar at one time. The pairings they offered were nicely done and really did accompany the wines quite nicely. Overall, we enjoyed the entire visit, except that the tasting is rather over priced for what you get... they could very easily do this for $8 - $10, instead of $30. In fact, we could have gone to other wineries and gotten a bottle and two tastings for the same price. The bottle prices here are average and they offer nice, local treats in their shop as well. read more

He makes exclusively red wines here. He does market the 8 Chains North white wines made by a friend of his as well though. His red wines were good, but none of them really jumped out at me. The tasting was also way too long. Very nice surroundings, an actual vineyard that they said could be toured if you give them advance notice. The wine tasting (and cider!) was pleasant, and the food bites were also nice. They were polite and friendly. There are quite a few places in the area to visit if you have time. The only minus is the last minute where they speed talk all the ways you can spend more money at their establishment. LOVE the food pairing with the wine. For $15 that's not bad at all considering other places offer a regular tasting for $12. There are also vegetarian and I think gluten free options. The drive in was a bit treacherous, especially for a car. The melting snow made for a very muddy mile plus drive and the parking area was a bit tricky. Good thing I wore riding boots. My friend drove an suv that almost got stuck in the parking lot and he ended up wading through a water hole soaking his shoes, socks, and pant legs before we even made it inside. We will wait to return until the weather gets better and they put down more gravel. Once inside we ordered and paid and were whisked away for our tasting and pairing. The sommelier was great and the wine and snacks were amazing. I highly recommend It! They also had a complimentary Girl Scout cookie wine pairing to try after in a different area. Very cool! But, it left us with a hankering for Girl Scout cookies, which they don't sell.... Come again? I thought that was odd. Could be a great way to support them but might conflict with business permits, etc. We each bought a bottle of the raspberry merlot. Very unique and delicious, which was surprising. Pairs well with a dark chocolate truffle, as well as in brownies, from what I hear. They also have a $95 bottle of pear wine, where they literally grow a pear on the vine inside a bottle of wine. So cool but too rich for my wallet. This one was not part of the tasting. Once finished with our two tasting, and after already visiting another winery, we had had our fill. We were hoping to get a box of girls scout cookies to sit and munch on but felt bad taking up space (even though we bought two bottles to go). There also wasn't any free seating, maybe we missed something but it was slim pickings. So, we decided to leave and head back into Leesburg for some coffee to wake us up. Lovely place though. read more
