Hidden Brook Winery is a hidden gem! Can't say enough good things about this winery! I love the relaxed atmosphere, customers are welcome to bring kids or dogs. Food, wine and service were excellent. Might I add this is 1 of the 2 shaded wineries in the area. It was like a log cabin retreat in the woods. It felt like the wineries I used to go to back in Malibu. If you would like a break from the packed wineries where you struggle to hear conversation and are longing for a more intimate laid back experience, look no further! My husband and I came here after a really fun spontaneous date day spent at Lost Creek Winery and Barnhouse Brewery right down the street. Hidden Brook was close by so we figured we might as well check it out. It was the perfect place to just relax - cozy login cabin vibes and a huge stack of games. We came here 17 years ago during an pre marriage celebration with our friends. It was a brand new winery, one of very few at the time. We rediscovered it today by chance, exploring the area, and were elated to see time hadn't changed it one bit: just as quaint and precious as it was then. Unlike the larger ones that lost their attractiveness over the last few years in a commercialized expansion on account of service and offerings, this place kept its intimacy, quality, and value. We were also excited to find two outdoor fire-pits for cold days seating out in the beautiful surrounding tree stand. Wines are just as good or better than average, club offering is very reasonable, and food quality is way above what is normally served at these establishments. To top it off, they are very people and dog friendly, which is hard to find anywhere nowadays. We live in Leesburg and always drove down to route 50 to enjoy an afternoon of winning and dining. If you're looking for a cozy, intimate wedding venue with fall vibes, Hidden Brook may be the one for you. Here's why: 1. When we toured Hidden Brook, the managers Angel & Dan put us at ease & we knew that they were going to be the best people to work with among all the other venues we toured. Hidden Brook was also the only venue that pitched to both my husband & me, not just me as the bride. 2. Throughout the planning process, Angel & Dan were extremely communicative & helpful with addressing any concerns that came up. These included catering, furniture rental, sound, weather, evolving guest needs, etc. 3. In the weeks leading up to our wedding, they put their best foot forward. The floors were re-polished & the gazebo where the ceremony would take place was power-washed. They also worked with us to come up with contingency plans, as we had an evolving situation. 4. On the wedding day itself, the Hidden Brook team (owner Eric, managers Angel & Dan, & another team member Nora) were helpful with problem-solving various issues with setup. We were able to do a mixed indoor/outdoor reception, with our guests enjoying a beautiful sunset over the fields next door. They were also proactive with teardown, taking care of the outdoor teardown while we were inside during the reception, so the teardown for us & the bride & groom party took less than an hour at the end of the night. All in all, we could not recommend Hidden Brook enough. I visited Hidden Brook Winery one hot and humid Sunday afternoon. Thank goodness for good air conditioning in the tasting room! I opted to taste the entire slate of wines - whites and reds. I had two different wine pourers during my tasting. Overall, the wines were enjoyable and the staff was friendly and answered my questions about the winery and their wines. Friendly service, pretty location with lots of winery neighbors. Maybe not my first stop, but I'd repeat it as part of a wine trail. They have an impressive selection of older vintages, and serve excellent Panini sandwiches. Hidden Brook and neighboring Lost Creek were originally part of the same winery family but several years ago Lost Creek was sold. Fortunately Hidden Brook is still going strong, with an emphasis on fruit forward Italian style wines. A full tastings is $12 for 10 wines, using locally sourced grapes. 2500 cases/year & 22 acres of vines. I liked a few from my tasting, but overall fruit forward wines are just not my style. But that probably says more about my palate than their wines. 2010 Chardonnay; pretty decent, fermented in both steel and neutral oak. 2012 Reserve White; off dry 2012 Vidal Blank; honey nose and somewhat honey on the palate Reds; 2010 Merlot; dark fruit 2012 Reserve Merlot; very nice (and I had a glass). 2012 Reserve Chambourcin; another one that I enjoyed, and not quite as fruit forward as I'm accustomed to for this grape 2012 Reserve Cab Sauvignon; very fruity nose, drinkable but didn't do anything special for me 2010 Cab Sauvignon; much softer than I expected for a vintage from a stellar year; maybe the tannins softened it up quite a bit 2012 Reserve Red; very nice 2011 Chambourcin; bad year for VA wine but this was excellent, and unexpectedly peppery read more

Great place! This was our last stop on our 3 winery, wine tour. The employees were super friendly and welcoming. We were rolling with a group of 12 and most did the wine tasting. Myself and 2 other ladies purchased a bottle of sweet wine and sat at a table while the rest of our group was tasting. The atmosphere is cool. Picture a rustic log cabin inside...that's what it was. Cozy, warm, welcoming. It wasn't busy in here either since it was getting later in the day. Definitely would come back here again! read more

I'm with the other reviewers wondering where the grapevines are at Hidden Brook Winery. Are there any? Unfortunately the girl doing our tasting didn't mention anything about the winery itself and its workings. She was supremely pleasant and lovely, however. Our winery-freak friends who were escorting us around on a Potomac Circuit wine tour have been to Hidden Brook many times and know her quite well at this point, so all 8 of our tastings (a "dry" and a "sweet" for each of us) plus three bottles of wine were all comped! She told us the owners of the winery don't mind at all... The wines themselves here aren't super impressive. Included in the Dry Tasting were an '08 Chardonnay, '08 Reserve Red, '07 Cabernet Sauvignon, and '07 Merlot. None of them particularly stands out in my mind, although the Merlot was probably the best of the bunch. In the Sweet Tasting (I shudder just thinking about sweet wines) were an '08 Rosé, '06 Reserve White, '06 Vidal Blanc, '08 Sweet Amber, and '07 Late Harvest. The last four tasted like simple syrup to me, with the exception of the Late Harvest which tasted like watery simple syrup. Of the lot the Rosé was the most palatable. Wines themselves would get 2 stars, but the people working here get 5, and the setting gets 3. The tasting room is a rustic log-cabin building set back in a pine grove with enormous trees. There's a porch and a patio area where you can enjoy your wines and cheeses or charcuterie -- available in the tasting room for purchase -- in a shady clearing...next to the neighbors' above-ground pool. At the time of our visit, their bathroom was out of commission, tho: not at all convenient when the whole reason you're there is to get your drink on! Probably the best winery we visited on our recent tour. Friendly & welcoming service which started our day. One of the few places to offer me a free water as I was a designated driver to what would become two very tipsy ladies. I am basing my review solely off of the winery's Harvest House, which is used for private events such as the wedding I recently attended. The House is beautiful, spacious, and well decorated. There are two bars located within the house and several dining/seating areas for socializing. The vineyard is a short walk from the House and also provides excellent scenery for a wedding. There is a patio area with limited seating but several high top tables. My biggest complaint regarding the House is the fact that there is only one downstairs bathroom. There is also one located upstairs, but it can be difficult to find if you're not exactly sure where to look. Usually for private events such as weddings, the upstairs area is reserved for the bridal party which can make it difficult for regular guests to find. The service at the bar was wonderful and the waitstaff was friendly. The House was air conditioned, which was perfect for a summertime event! read more

Not impressed with either this vineyard or the Lost Creek vineyard next door (and I believe they're owned by the same people). The wines were a bit too heavy on the sweetness and the reds (eg. The Chambourcin) were too acidic for my taste. Not sure why a glass wasn't included in the tasting with the fee paid--seems a glass imprinted with their name is good, free advertising for them? Staff was disinterested/annoyed--I was trying to find out where to pay for my tasting and a staff member gave me a dirty look because I was apparently in her way. Last straw was that they didn't have a bathroom and sent us to a stinky Port-A-Potty! Cabernet/merlot were pretty decent but I have gotten better bottles of both for half the price at Calvert Woodley in Van Ness, and probably Trader Joe's too. Would not return. read more

I visited here with a group of friends for my birthday. We had a great time! The place was surprisingly still empty when we arrived for our 1 pm tasting on a Saturday. I won't complain though. They took us to a corner as we were a group of 14. The lady doing our tasting was well versed with their 7 different wines. Our groups favorite was the reserve white! She warned us this would be the wine you grab and wonder where it all went. It was sweet and full of fruity flavors, mainly apple. We ordered 3 of those, 1 rosé, and 1 Chardonnay to drink there. Loved that they were all available chilled. They let us know we could bring outside food in to eat so that's what we did. They have a dining room feel inside with a lot of tables and chairs. Our group was able to enjoy an hour there. Loved that there was live music playing. By the time we left there were many groups coming in. If it weren't for the heat, we would probably have spent more time outside. They have a few corn hole sets available for all guests. There was no view as it looked like a cabin in the woods, but overall a wonderful place with friendly employees and tasty wine! read more

In the corner (kind of away from the other wineries) of the Leesburg winery stretch is this cute log-cabin-looking establishment. There is a nice little outside area where you can sit and enjoy a bottle of wine, or there is plenty of space inside. It was fun walking around looking at the merchandise. I felt like it was so empty, though! There weren't a lot of other people tasting, and the floor was wide open. It didn't feel as home-y as I thought it would be, given the exterior! If you like sweet wine, hit this place. After tasting of 10 for $3, which starts with sweet wines and gets sweeter and sweeter, you will have a double buzz from alcohol and sugar. We bought a bottle of Merlot, a nice table red with a hint of oak and probably the least sweet. The lady (her husband is the wine maker who is a son of the owners of Lost Creek Winery next door) was nice and charged two of us for only one tasting fee. This place is a cute little log cabin in the woods that serves wine. Nice and quiet and secluded. We came here when they had live music and it was pretty nice. So my swaying from all the wine could be set to music. Nice! Everyone that works here is nice and knowledgeable. If someone doesn't know an answer to something, they're happy to find out for you. The standout wine for me here was the Rose. You have NEVER had a rose like this. Ever. It is light with a slight lemony taste that made it go well with some salmon that I made. The wine itself was horrible, easily the worst Rose I have ever tasted and I love Rose in almost its forms. The reds were flat and the dessert wines were actually offensive. No aromas, lots of sugar in most of them, a little oak, no fruit profile with the exception of the Chardonnay, and that's just barely better than one-dimensional. We came here after visiting the Tarara Winery and it was like night and day. I would actually give this place three and a half stars, because the wines were not the most amazing, but still good. We welcomed this place with open arms because of the intimate//cozy setting of this place. We were at the Tarara Winery forever for one tasting because they were too big/busy, so when we arrived here (hidden away, hence the name), we sighed a big breathe of relief. We walked in and were only one of the 3 small groups in there. (Groups meaning 2 or three people, including a family sitting outside at a picnic table). The outside is small, humble but very pretty. The flowers that welcome you as you walk up to the building are picture worthy. We were greeted immediately, but a lady on her first day of the job. She did a pretty decent job, although reading off of the cheat sheet, but we don't fault her for that. There was some guy playing a guitar, quite well may I add, and it was just relaxing. Although, I wish the echo would have not been so loud. We enjoyed our tastings and then used the bathroom, and let me tell you, as far as bathrooms go, this one is top notch. It is about the size of our bedroom. lol. We would have stayed longer, but wanted to make it to one other place. I am glad we could check this one off of our list. They have been around since the late 90's, and seemed like a tight-knit group of people. read more

We had been here about a year ago and weren't incredibly impressed with the wine, but the service was good, so we decided to give it another chance. Wine was meh, service was meh. We were the only people there (probably for a reason), and the woman pouring was far more interested in her cell phone than her job. I understand that occasionally an emergency may come up and you need to step away to handle it, but her conversations were not indicative of such, and instead just seemed to be chatting with friends to catch up. None of the wines jumped out at me, and the prices for bottles weren't worth it. Given the multitude of vineyards in Northern Virginia I would think that, to be competitive, one would need to have good wine, affordable pricing, or good staff, but this one didn't check any of those boxes. read more

I hadn't been to Hidden Brook for years. I'm glad I revisited! Simple and quaint tasting room. We were greeted immediately with a smiling wine lady, Nora! She was very welcoming! She helped us through our tasting with knowledge and fun and a leisurely pace. The wines were quite palatable and I was surprised at the smoothness and complexity of some of their reds. Hidden Brook? Hidden treasure! We had no idea they were even there when we drove by. Nice tasting bar and even space for a musician. There are a number of tables outside to relax with a picnic or bottle of wine. The best part about the place is the fact that every wine they offer is smooth - not necessarily sweet but definitely smooth. Their Chambourcin can stand all by itself as a varietal. We were completely bowled over by the subtle flavors in their rose: mild and quite fruity. Very nice. read more
