I love this pet friendly winery in northern Virginia. The staff is so welcoming and friendly and their white wine and sparkling is really good! They also have food pairings which I love and a mini dog park outside! The views are stunning and the taste room was warm and cozy. This is a great weekend visit from DC and I'll definitely be back

I had an excellent visit to 8 Chains today. I was their first customer arriving at 1230 shortly after they opened. I was immediately greeted by the 2 staff working (Juliette and Kat) and given their menu. I showed them my Guide to Imbibe book and then we proceeded to have a conversation of other wineries nearby that I should visit. I opted for the flight board of 4 wines. The pours were great for sampling and I decided to add some salted caramel chocolate with it. The chocolates were yummy! They have plenty of seating indoors and out with a beautiful view of the winery as well. They also have a separate dog park area where dogs can play freely. They stamped my book but I didnt do the tasting, just got a flight so hopefully they honor it when I come back! I really enjoyed my first visit to 8 Chains and look forward to coming back.

8 Chains North was an unplanned stop but we are so happy we stopped here! First of all, even though it is winery and I should write a review about wine first, but I want to start with the fact that this winery has a secluded area where dogs can be off leash and run around and play!!! What a phenomenal additions to a winery for those who brings their dogs with them. Second of all, yes to their wines and amazing staff who are super friendly and very knowledgeable. We will come back!

My fave winery in the area! Such a cozy area to hang out, both inside on the couches, at the bar, or at the tons of outdoor seating. The dog park is also a really nice touch! Always a fan of anywhere that allows pups to join To top it off, the staff is super nice and the wine is DELICIOUS! I even brought my mom once who's fairly picky and she loved everything Oh, and def check out the view from the top deck. Ps don't like wine? They have local beer as well

It was such a beautiful place. But I definitely had regrets about going here.... My regret was I forgot to bring my dog . It was amazing. The wine AND atmosphere was amazing!!!! I can't recommend enough but please don't make the same mistake I did and bring your furry friends with

Had the best time at this winery. The music was great and entertaining. I didn't taste a wine I didn't like, the outside space is beautiful, the food was more than small bites as well as delicious and their members program gives your free bottles and tasting. I really wish I lived closer so this could be my home winery

I cannot say enough good things about 8 Chains North. The fact it's only a 4.1 as I write this is disappointing. The tasting experience we had was delightful. The staff was impressive in their wine knowledge, personable, and frankly hilarious. The wine was delicious, I especially liked the Tannat and the Lo Co white blend (the one with Chardonnay). The view is of the vineyard, and the patio was lovely along with some snacks we brought with us. Overall it was a fabulous experience, one of my favorites from our 9 winery tour of Loudoun!

This place is money. Not only are the views fantastic, but so are the wines. Talked to owner as I was sampling and so informative on what to try. Came for a glass and left with four bottles. This is wine you want to drink and take home. Well done. I'll be back - often. :)

We have been to eight chains several times. Really love the live music when we come! When the weather is nice, there seating is superb. They have open seating, covered seating, fire pits, something to accommodate every preference. The wines are varied and of good quality. The servers are knowledgeable and fun.

Located just outside Purcellville, this small winery offers some very drinkable wines with a family and dog friendIy atmosphere. There's ample seating both indoors and out on the covered terrace, where you also have a view of the vineyard. There's even a separate fenced area outdoors where your dogs can make some new pooch pals. Dogs are welcome inside the tasting room as well. There's live entertainment most weekends and a fireplace to curl up next to on chilly days. Basic nibbles including salamis, crackers and cheese are available for purchase. Or, if you're lucky you might happen on a food competition day and get a free cup of chili. They offer a special tasting featuring wines paired with chocolates from The Conche for a very reasonable up charge, which I highly recommend. A very pleasant place to while away a weekend afternoon.

Super short version: Great winery with good service that is also not rowdy. Fantastic place to…read morego for a glass or three of quality wine in relative peace and quiet. Short version: Casanel, a small family owned winery, simply put our favorite winery bar none. Notable for their Cabernet Sauvereign (hard to grow in Virginia) and their Petit Verdots, all of their wines every year have been good to great. Service is good, pricing is fair and reasonable considering the market, and the atmosphere is welcoming and warm. They do allow dogs and food outside, but do enforce a no dog and no outside policy indoors, in part to ensure that there always is a place that is quieter for those who seek it. Long version: My wife and I judge wineries on three scales - quality of the wine, quality of the service, and other (which includes the views, value for price, food options, etc). Wine Quality - Casanel wine has been consistently good to great in spite of difficult years. Although they have had a change in wine makers, the samples we have tasted of the product that their new wine maker Adam has produced, I believe, will continue their reputation for quality. While many of these produced by Adam are not yet available for sale, they also have a strong library of wines that are well worth checking out and, we believe, value for money. That said, our pallet tends to lean toward the dry reds (PV, Cab Sauv, and others), but they also produce a Chardonnay that has gone through malolactic fermentation and lightly oaked, producing a flavorful wine that is not a butter bomb. They also produce a few other whites and reds that are also worth a visit, including Norton (both still and as a bubbly), a Carmenere (an all but lost burgundy grape), and Pinot Gris in several styles. In the warmer months, they also have several roses including last year an orange wine (based on a white wine made like a red). And that is about half of their offerings. If I had to say that they had a weakness in this category, it would be that they don't have that much to offer sweet wine drinkers, but they do have an option or two. Service - The Casanel winery team does all they can to create a warm, welcoming environment to their guests and, being that we are frequent visitors, they have become our winery home away from home. Notable is Theresa, the operations manager who with her team handles the front of the house. Victoria does a great job keeping interesting events going on. Nelson, the owner, is a character with great passion for the US - while you may not always agree with his views, you certainly will never question his love of what his hard work and the opportunities of this nation have granted him. Elliotte does a thousand jobs including helping with communications and the website. And one cannot go on without mentioning Anna - the general manager who quite literally is the glue that keeps everything going. Hers is a thankless job of putting out fires, dealing with difficult customers, and ensuring that her team (mentioned or not) have the resources to have all run smoothly. If Casanel had a weakness in this area, it would be that this is not a place for loud drunken parties nor a place for children and animals to run unrestrained or without supervision - but to us, that is a strength and not a weakness. Other - As noted above, this is a catchall category for us. Casanel's main tasting room was hand built by its owner, and the secondary tasting room is a historical structure. Both are lovely as are the grounds. While the wine is a bit pricey, the quality is there and therefore in our books represents a good value. Further, there are a number of efforts that occur behind the scenes that also contribute to the experience. Be it from the vineyard crew who manage to keep the vines healthy and attractive in spite of weather and pests thus allowing quality fruit to be had to the production staff ensuring that quality never fails, there is significant effort that goes into the bottle before it is labeled. In closing, when one considers the consistent quality and superior customer service this small winery provides, it certainly should be on your list of wineries to check out.

The Bordeaux, Cab Sauv were very good, and the Norton was almost like a port, which I really enjoy. The Petit Verdot was the weakest of the batch by far and one I would never touch again. On the other end was the Carmenere which was an excellent wine I would absolutely come back for. Its quite a pleasant winery with some very good wines to try.
