Power outages from heavy winds and rain slowed down the show but it surely didn't stop the power house of fun! The tasting experience was a great combination of personal ( I am forgetting his name unfortunately as I am doing this review a few days later and work on the brain. Tall from Frederick) down to the paring tasting that comes along with the curated list of wines. I would definitely recommend trying it at least once! We spent about a week in Loudoun County exploring different vineyards. This was our last stop. The gate separating you from the vineyard is open so I assume that means you're free to meander into the vineyard which is pretty cool since most vineyards don't have that option. They had a unique offering of pairing flights with international snacks, which isn't something we saw at other vineyards. However, the ingenuity of this idea was ruined by the cheap presentation and meager serving. The flights literally came in these cheap condiment containers like the ones McDonald's has for ketchup. One of the snacks was a type of Lays potato chip that apparently is made in Canada. The serving was a single chip and it was stale. Another snack was Pocky, which is a Japanese cracke the serving size was half a stick of Pocky. With so many vineyards to choose from in Loudoun County, I doubt this is one we'll return to. Unique ideas but terrible and cheap presentation. read more

Have had their trademark pear wine many times and has always been delicious. Was in the area and stopped by to pick up some bottles and was disappointed. The taste was OFF, started fine but ended on a weird bitter and very sour note, yuck. What's worse is the staff tasted it and totally agreed but shrugged it off as a bad batch, said that was how that particular run had turned out (!). It was undrinkable. They did not offer a refund nor did they say they would take the offending bottles off the shelf. When I asked how many bottles comprise this 'batch', they said 'a couple stacks'. So just be warned if you are buying their pear wine around the holidays. Bad wine aside, the outdoor seating area is nice. They also have a large open room upstairs but it can get very noisy with only a couple of tables. read more

We came for the first time during their Harry Potter event. The whole thing was poorly run and there was no organization. They had us wait in a line that snaked around the tasting room to purchase anything whether it was bottles, a tasting or food. It would've been much more organized if they had separate areas to purchase tastings, and food and bottles. Instead there were workers at tables where the tastings were poured (into plastic cups) after purchasing in the long line just standing there doing nothing. I only tasted the white flight and only one of the four was palatable. We also ordered the special cocktail flight which tasted like it had zero alcohol in it and were ok but was basically fruit punch. The Diagon Alley Market was a joke. 3 of the booths were sold out at 3:30 when the event was supposed to go to 5, and the booths that were there were goofy, nothing I'd want to buy. Oh yeah, the tasting room was also out of butter beer at 2:00. Ridiculous. Clearly no one here knows how to plan and run an event. I will not go back to this winery. It is a gimmicky joke. If you want good wines there are many other options that are better. Oh, and the parking and line to get out of this place.... Don't get me started. This was not a fun event. read more

I had a good time here with a small group of friends. There is a decent variety of wines and fun ways to try them. From wine only tasting with 2oz pours to a snack pairing menu and another tasting options. I decided to go for the month special - April Outlander Wine Tasting Menu. This option comes with 1oz pours and an accompanying cellar made snack so that you can experience how their wine will elevate the food pairing that they created. I must say that there were some interesting snack combinations, for example #4 includes a tasting of their new 2019 Petite Sirah (yum) and it is paired with a Bourbon BBQ quinoa chip with balsamic cheese, artichoke asiago, Chik-Fil-A sauce and Jacobs cream cracker... and it actually worked together lol. It was fun experiencing some creative snacks and enjoying the wine as suggested - sip, snack and sip. Their in-house menu included the usual vineyard pairings, cheeses, charcuterie, meats, etc. I like that there was a food truck available on the premises which provided another option outside oft he usual vineyard snacks. Our party enjoyed food from the truck as well as the host cellar. The tasting room under the main level has some interesting decor and plenty of room for guests. We haven't been here in several years...not a lot has changed. There is no warm greeting as you arrive, just the people who work there who say, "What do you want". The guy tried to talk us out of sharing the tasting due to small bites and small pours. Well, with visiting other wineries and the cost of their tastings at $20 each, we will stick to sharing, thank you very much. And we shared very well...small bites and pours aside! On Sunday January 22, 2023, my wife and I took a trip to Fabbioli Cellars. My wife loves this place and we decided to take a random trip post Covid. This place is one of a kind with there food paired wines. This weeks menu was a tailgating addition which structured wines around the foods you would normally see during a game. We loved every single one and the way they were paired together was amazing. This is a family business and the owner was wonderful with genuine care and dedication to her craft. We went in the cold time of the year just to see how things were and this place is jaw dropping, the views of the grape vines and open space was really peaceful. We stopped by here one afternoon during their Harry Potter event. Lots of HP themed decorations and even some vendors selling themed wares outside. They offered a few different types of wines- we went for a red wine flight along with their special selection of food and wine pairings. Some of the reds were quite good for the area and worth another try. But the food pairings was where this really shined. It was a little odd with the Styrofoam boxes and plastic cups, but the wines with the different cheese, crackers and fruits all worked amazing well- someone really knew what they were doing when they assembled the groupings. When I tell you I had the absolute best experience ever , I came here with a friend and we had a fabulous time. The host gave us a list of what we were tasting and the pairings of food that go with each selection of wine . Mind you these are small bites but they have so much thought behind them and they pair so nicely with the different wines . My favorite out of the many we had was the Una peara , it was undertones of crisp pears and had a few notes of spice . The thanksgiving bite is what we had with this one , cranberry and a cracker and something else it was so delicious . We ended up going up stairs in the restaurant, it was a beautiful view of the winery big bay windows . We ordered some more of the bites for that month and got a whole bottle of the Una Pera . Prior to leaving I mentioned to the host that my wife died , he gave me a snowflake cut out of her name . It was the most beautiful kind gesture . This was above and beyond the call of duty and the fact that he took the time to listen and do that speaks volumes about the level of customer service and just human kindness this man had . This place isn't intimidating, the staff is friendly and they do themes every month which is super fun! When I went our server was Dam who was very nice and personable. Hands Down, BEST WINE TASTING I'VE EVER ENCOUNTERED! Our wine guide, Gayle (sp?) was a blast to be around and she knew her thing about the wines she poured up to this excited group of about 25 wine enthusiast! Located in Leesburg, Virginia, the wine tastings are paired with gourmet food pairings to compliment the wine. We did a "sip-bite sandwich," if you will. Sip the wine, take a bite of the food pairing provided, repeat. No lie, each food pairing enhanced the flavor of the wine 100%! Delicious! Our wine tasting was held in the basement of the facility where wine barrels are located, but they have wine tastings in other areas on-site. We tasted 7 wines, with 7 accompanied bites, all for the reasonable price of $15. They have other packages and prices, inquire within. You can of course purchase bottles of wine, glasses, glasses of wine, wine charms, other knick-knacks, and food to accompany your wine. While you sip and chill you can either stay on the main level, where tables and chairs are provided, sit on the porch to admire the 360 degree view of the vineyards or go upstairs. On cooler days, fire pits are operational for guests to snuggle up around while toasting the evening away. Love was in the air yesterday (Monday) at Fabbioli Cellars . Bae and I decided to celebrate Vday a few days before the frenzy! I chose Fabiolli because of the titanic theme and the food pairing. I love the decorations and the view of the vines from upstairs is beautiful! We arrived around 3pm and was greeted by a gentleman ( Jason or Justin i believed) . We had a choice between sitting in the barrel room or upstairs , we chose upstairs as I wanted to enjoy the view, there were only two ladies . We chose the flight with the food pairing which was $15 for a total of 7 wines . Only one of the wine did not have a food pairing. We had a blast trying to figure out what were the different type of cheese, how to pronouns certain words such as "Manchego Michita cheese" lol. Oh I was forced to stop taking pics as I was trying to enjoy us so sorry for not many pics of the winery. Bae enjoyed pretty much everything , he decided to get us a bottle of Sangiovese to enjoy. Our two favorite were the Sangiovese and Carmenere. I decided to get a bottle of Merlot to take home. We had a very nice time here! The outside was dog and kid friendly. We did a few 3 wine flights that we picked ourselves. You can also do a tasting menu with 5 sips and 5 snacks. The PB&J was a favorite snack. I ended up buying the cider, pear wine, and pear cider. I visited Fabbioli Cellars for the first time earlier this year for a wine tasting. It was a hot and humid day out - so the tasting room air conditioning was a welcome respite! This is a nice winery in an area with many. We visited for the 1st time recently after receiving a recommendation to come here from another nearby winery. It was quite busy on a Saturday afternoon and we actually waited outside for a bit until some of the other customers checked out. After a few minutes, we went inside and were showed all of the options for the day - buying bottles, doing a self-guided tastings, snacks, etc. We opted for the tasting and were given all of the samples at once to take outside. It was a beautiful day and we were happy to snag a spot at one of the tables right off the main house. All I can say is Fabiolli is one of my all time favorite wineries. I went here for the first time for my birthday (summer 2019). I loved the wine and food pairing/tasting. Staff were welcoming and very knowledgeable of the wines. I can't recall how much the tasting was, but it was worth it. We were also there for the girl scout cookie pairing, which was fun. My favorite wine is Una Pera. Its a white wine with a slight sweetness, but very refreshing. The raspberry merlot was also another favorite. Delicious red wine with a fruity sweetness to it. My husband really loved the rosa nera, which is a port wine...really delicious. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, with beautiful scenery. They also offer snacks and options to purchase bottles and glasses of wine. Generally they have a drink of the month as well. During COVID, they have instilled necessary precautions. Plus they have plenty of seating outdoors, which is even better. On the weekend they do require reservations and they have a limited schedule as well. The wife and I love this place! The rolling hills are beautiful and the landscaping is done well here. There is outdoor seating and 2 floors where you can hang out after a tasting. The wines are fine (its Virginia, not Napa) and while I do wish they poured more during the tasting, their innovative food pairings is what keeps us coming back. The staff has always been very friendly and accommodating of our large groups. Everything is on the pricier side but we always enjoy ourselves here. I suggest bringing some games to play with friends and buy a bottle or two and relax! They had a pop up patisserie this weekend which had some great desserts. Every month they change it up so you never have the exact same thing twice. Their raspberry wine is still our favorite!! read more

Thankfully I'm not the type of person to allow the stars given for my review to reflect one moment of a whole experience but if I were that type, Fabbioli would get minus stars if it were allowed all because of Caitlin. Since I'm not.... If you are a millennial - this place is totes for you. If you like the smell of cow dung and the accompanying sound of moos - this place is for you. The lovely cows are right out back by the watering hole on a neighboring farm to greet you and add to the outdoor acoustics and aromas. Luckily, or sadly depending (thanks Caitlin and neighbor cows), I found three wines that I liked. The '18 chard, the '18 rosé and the '17 Cham. Didn't buy any - because Caitlin. Unlike most vineyards I've visited recently, Fabbioli does not have the ability to have a "tab" so that you can pay for your tasting, food (if available on site) and the wines you want all on one receipt. Prices?? What you'd pay at Giant, Safeway, Target or TW&M. That's a good thing because the other vineyards I've visited and purchased from start at $18-$20 for their not so good stuff and the good ones or more popular wines start around $28. Now, if you have it like that - fine. But I write for everyone - bougies like me and bargain hunters - like me. I'm not yet "wealthy" and the wealthy can afford what they want when they want so they don't look at prices (unless they're the cheap wealthy and they can refer back a few sentences). [Insert smirk and lol emojis.] What drew me here is that they pair their tastings with small bites. My only negative was this weekend was Hawai'i themed and the alleged teriyaki chicken almost made me vomit - seriously. I wiki-ed it - teriyaki isn't even Hawai'ian sooooo. [Insert side eye gif.] If you've read thus far, despite Caitlin's ruining my visit from the word "welcome", I say visit if you want to taste average wines at normal prices amid cow sounds and smells in an otherwise inviting and peaceful setting after a tedious drive on a gravel/dirt road paired with dubious tiny bites. Nice, classy atmosphere at this winery. Me and 11 of my friends were on a winery tour and we made this our first wine stop (after a brewery). 9 of us were signed up for the food/wine pairing tasting which was held in the basement. I did not do that, so I can't say whether it was worth the $20 or not. Me and 2 others decided to just buy a bottle of their Rose and sit at a table downstairs by the rest of our party while they tasted. It seemed like a nice tasting. The dude talked a lot and they were laughing a bunch. Our Rose was ok, dryer than we expected but nonetheless, good. They also have another option for a tasting if you aren't interested in the $20 food option. They have just a wine option where they give you this cool carrier...like a wine glass tree. So I guess it's probably a flight of wine, other than a tasting. The atmosphere at this winery was cool as heck. As you can probably tell from other peoples pictures, it's a round building. Like a glorified, sturdy yurt. The employees were very friendly and it was pretty busy in there while we visited. We visited in December so it was too cold to hang outside but I can imagine when it's nicer it is probably a nice setting outside as well. Very cool place!! read more

Fabbioli Cellars is a lovely winery in Leesburg, not too far from the Leesburg Outlets. They offer a different wine tasting experience, in that they pair bites with their tasting. If you want to do a tasting, you first prepay for your tasting and then wait to be seated. They also red, white, and custom flights, wines by the glass, as well as food. Since it was our first time, we opted to do the full tasting. The wine tasting was fantastic. Our wine educator was awesome and was knowledgable of Fabbioli wines. Our tasting included 7 wines, 6 bites, and a bonus wine. Two of the wines did not include a bite. The tasting was a mix of red, whites, and port wines. Fabbioli produces a variety of Italian inspired wines, as well as others. The bites paired really well with the wines. Many of the bites were a mix of savory and sweet. The tastings are themed and they change the bites and tastings monthly. I was impressed that the tastings changed monthly. After the tasting we decided to each enjoy a flight of four wines. From the pictures and previous reviews I was expecting a relaxing tasting experience and some tasty bites to go with it. The actual experience was quite different... first off, the winery is accessed via a twisty, narrow, packed-dirt road with several blind turns and a single lane bridge. After a couple of hair raising encounters with people apparently bent on causing a collision, I was more than ready to relax at a table and enjoy a nice glass or two of wine. Unfortunately, walking into the tasting room was akin to walking into a sardine tin. People were lined up all the way to the door waiting to check in. There were a couple of tables in the middle of the room but the edges were lined with long group tables filled with tasters, that I had plenty of time to observe as I waited my turn to check in and pay for a tasting. 15 minutes later I was finally checked in and clutching a glass while waiting again to be directed to a tasting location. The monthly tasting theme is Paris, which I thought sounded quite promising, and this helped to restore my spirits somewhat. The second wait was mercifully brief, roughly 5 minutes. At this point I was directed along with a large number of other people to a tasting area downstairs. There my hopes of a separate table were completely dashed as we were herded to a long C shaped bar where our tasting platters were already being set in place. Taking my place along with the rest of the group, we were presented first with a cider (not a wine... I thought this was a wine tasting?!). The cider being only average, I had to ask for a dregs jar to dump the rest. Then we were presented with a petit manseng, the only white wine for the tasting. It soon joined the cider in dregs jar. Following the manseng were 3 very acceptable reds, a chambourcin, a meritage blend and cab forward blend, these were all paired with specific bites, some more successfully than others. And then we were presented a raspberry merlot, very sweet and completely overwhelming the flavors of the Merlot, and yet another cider (this time a strawberry cider). So, here's the thing, when I pay $18 for a wine tasting, I don't know about you, but I want to taste WINE, not a fruit blend and not cider. And if you're going to advertise a Parisian theme, then I'd expect the food bites at least to speak to the theme. Hummus and apples and shortbread just don't read "French" to me. Also, if you're too crowded to offer groups their own table experience, it would be better to say so up front. I didn't enjoy being squashed in with larger groups. The wine I did taste was nice, but the tiny tastings were not worth the $18 I paid and probably didn't give me a real feel for the direction the winery is pursuing with their winemaking. It was stuffy, crowded, and decidedly not fun so I won't be back. read more

Great vineyard and a must! This vineyard was beautiful and their tasting for the month was outstanding. They kicked in an extra tasting to their package because of Father's Day weekend. The attendant, Kim, was very knowledgeable of the entire selection and was very entertaining for our group. Such a great winery. When you walk in they greet you and tell you the spill of how it works. It's a decent size inside. When we arrived, the cattle came with us. All of a sudden when they open 20 some people ran in with us. They have a really great way to try wine. They had 3-4 different stations set up. Each station had a different pairing of wine with different food items. For example, one area had wine pairings on girl scout cookies. It was $10 per person in each section. They did a wonderful idea and provided me an idea on a winery event that I'm involved with at the University where I work. They provided a dry white and worked the way to a dessert wine. You look at the taste, then indulge yourself with a treat, and then more wine. It was the perfect method. Our hostess was very good at her job. Recommend checking this place out. I read a few negative reviews about children, but Fabbioli allows them in the downstairs barrel room, as well as outside...this accommodation is preferred for me at least, so that I can find time to relax quietly while families can also enjoy the atmosphere. I've been here plenty of times and the constantly changing food pairings and wine menu keeps me coming back. Definitely one of my Top 5 favorite wine destinations. The $15 tasting fee is on the high side but worth every cent. As an unabashed red wine lover, this winery is akin to paradise. To give you an idea of Doug Fabbioli's focus on reds, it took years before he grudgingly made a white wine. And when he did, is named it "Something White". I like this guy's style! They also have a good assortment of fruit-inspired wines. Fabbioli Cellars also has a huge focus on food pairings; really just tiny bites served with your tasting. As the wine menu changes, so does the pairings. My favorites include the Rosa Nera port-style with lemonchello gelato, the Rasberry Merlot with a truffle, and the pear wine with an apricot/goat cheese/cranberry marmalade mix on a cracker. I take copious notes on these pairings to prepare for the time when I eventually decide to host, and need to do my own parings. Their current wine-lineup is always posted on the website, so pay attention for when a particular favorite is available. Here is a selection of favorites from my own tastings: 2013 Sangiovese - a BIG favorite. Nice color and nose, yet still on the bold side. 2012 Padrino (98% Tannat). Nice cherry palate Rose Nera - Black Raspberry port-style. Royalty - Possibly my favorite port of theirs Raspberry Merlot - even better chilled 2013 Chardonnay - Notes of lemon, not buttery at all 2012 Cab Franc Reserve - Not as earthy or green peppery as other Francs, but liked it a lot Pear wine - I'd have never thought of pears as a wine, but they make it work. While I've never tried it, I love looking at the Port-style pear wines with an actual pear in the bottle. It's been years since I've had their 100% Tannat so I can barely remember it. But yes, they have two Tannats here! One recent change is they are getting ready to open a new tasting room (important because the old one is kinda small). They let me take a peak at it and it had some wonderful views of the vineyard. Special "Thank You" to Sarah, my server. She snuck me a taste of something that happened to be open, but swore me to secrecy regarding what it was. I promise Sarah, no telling! read more

This place is all about volume and bad wine. The "winery" consists of a single building dedicated to running tastings and selling stuff. I can get past the commercialization if only the wines were even the least bit drinkable. With so many wineries around and you should be able to find something better or at least more enjoyable. On the plus(ish) side, the wines are accompanied by a plate of paired "food nibbles". These are half-crackers topped with a small dollop of something or other (and in one case a small chocolate truffle) that goes with the wine you are sampling. I was impressed that they were able to accommodate my girlfriend's gluten allergy (if only to remove those items that contained gluten. That said, the worst parts were the wines, there were more than one, that contained raspberry flavoring. The high point was the chocolate truffle that accompanied the atrocious port at the end of this ill-advised flight. read more

Hey have fire pits and we loved it! Seems like it is nice inside but we stayed outside at a fire pit and loved it. We got their equivalent of a pink noir and a cheese board. They were also selling Girl Scout cookies and had a seafood food truck outside. We called about an hour ahead to make sure we had a fir pit space but it was snowy and cold so we were fine. We came here after the holidays on a fairly nice winter day to sit outside and try some wines. They had a decent amount of outdoor seating, plus some spots with fire pits so we had a nice little bonfire to keep warm and someone constantly coming by to check on the fire. I did the wine and chocolate tasting and it was great, as the chocolates paired so well. We got a bottle of cab franc which was tasty and a bottle of the white wine as well. The wines were simple but tasty, nothing I would drive out specifically for but none the less, reasonably priced and great for casual drinking. This winery is spacious, I was shocked to see how well they set up the social distancing situation. I highly recommend to book a reservation in advanced (indoor or outdoor). My friends and I were seated outside at table #45. Our table had shading and was more intimate than the large fields near by the parking area. It's amazing Fabbioli stayed creative with their tasting menu consisting of 5 drink and small bites pairing! We had the pleasure to experience the James Bond 007 theme. I would Fabbioli definitely worth the trip from DMV area. Overall rating 4/5: when you first walk in, they asked you if you are interested in doing the tasting and then you will have to pay at the register first. You get seated at a table of 5 to do a group tasting. It's actually very efficient that way. I like that concept. Food& Wine 4/5- I love that they have seasonal and rotating menu. Each month they change the menu theme. Tasting is $15 come with seven wines and gourmet nibble pairing. One of my favorites is definitely the 'Una Pera'. It's their white wine made of pear and it's so refreshing. However, I don't recommend the cider tasting at this place. They are available at the speakeasy. After your tasting you can order a bottle and kick it off at the back, where you get to sit under the pavilion and overlook the vineyard. Atmosphere 3/5- This place has a lot potential! Great spot and view here. Live music or just music was missing. Staff 5/5 - the staff were super friendly. read more
