Visited this brand new gym with my friend on Friday. Since I am battling with jetlag and just woke up like 2.40am, a little tidbits about this new gym located at the Buckhead Atlanta where fine shops and restaurant like Dior, Louboutin, Hermès, Le Bilboquet are located. Note the gym is located off Pharr Road; the entrance is on the side and not on the main road. So what is this F45 Training? The "F" stands for Functional Training. The "45" stands for the total time of every of their classes, ie 45 minutes. So each F45 studio all over the world offers a 45 minute high-Intensity, circuit training workout class for the members. There are supposedly 27 different 45 minute workouts and more in development. F45 training was founded in Australia in year 2012 and boasted a list of celebrities like Hugh Jackman as their member. Ok, so much about a little info about this new F45 training in Buckhead. Upon entering this brand new sparkly gym, we were greeted by the friendly staff at the reception. We told her we would like to take a look, she said she was happy to show us around. The whole place looked very bright, fancy and high tech to me. Equipments looked great (so said my friend; what do I know?). There are two bathrooms with shower facility. I am exceptionally impressed with the lockers. One can charge their phone when storing it inside. I know, I can be such a cave person, lol!! Towels are provided for free. Schedule of the classes is displayed on this huge flat panel tv next to the reception counter. Currently the gym is giving out free two weeks passes and I highly recommend anyone who cares a lot to keep fit and healthy to check this place out. Parking is validated and free for three hours. Disclaimer: not like I don't like to keep fit and healthy, I just not sure if I can survive under any intensive workout sessions in any gyms. For the time being, yoga is my thing. If I ever plan to go to a gym, F45 will be my choice. This definitely looks like a 5 star gym!

The best gym, for so many reasons! The work-out: each class is 45 minutes long. There are stations that you work your way through. Each station is set up, equipment organized and easy to use. Video displays help you remember what to do at each station. The instructors: everyone I've met has been so friendly, so helpful, and so knowledgeable! They push you to give it your best effort, modify if you either need to accommodate an injury or if you want to challenge yourself, and they monitor the group the whole time to ensure you're doing the movements properly. The gym: state of the art equipment, kept clean and orderly. State of the art from the bathrooms, to the lockers (your phone can charge while you work out!), to the heart rate monitors that track your workouts and then email you a personalized report after each session. It can be intimidating going into a new gym. But after my first class it felt like I made a group of new friends... where everyone knows your name. XO

To our surprise, there was just 3 of us total. I didn't mind, because it gave us way more room and felt like a private session. Before starting, they make sure you have the proper gloves and wraps, and even help you put them on. I fortunately had my own gloves and wraps from previous years of boxing. I believe if you don't have any, it's like $25 or so? They give you the wraps and lend you gloves in this case. The general makeup of the studio is boxing bags on one side and weights with small benches on the other. They set it up so that it feels like a party, with loud music, hyped up chants, and black lights. Our instructor, Jamaal, was awesome and very energetic! The class itself was challenging, but definitely doable if you workout pretty regularly. We started on the bags, with a total of about 3 rounds of boxing. The instructor (standing on a small platform) usually calls out the movements/combinations before each part of the round. I love that they also have a projector showing the movements and timer on the top of the wall. For the second half of the class, we did a mini HIIT workout with weights and small cardio moves in between. This part was even tougher for me, because it's not as choreographed as the boxing portion. I still enjoyed it and felt great afterwards! All in all, I would definitely consider doing another class at some point. My one suggestion is that they either get better mics or turn down the music slightly so that you can clearly hear the instructor.

They continued to charge me for months after they moved and I wasn't even coming in. Why would they resume monthly memberships after closing down and moving to a new town to begin with without consent? I signed up again this month not aware of these charges, then AFTER I paid 80.00 to start a new membership, the front desk lady says she needs to talk to me. Accuses me of not paying my old balance and it's my fault because I must have called the bank to stop the charges. I explained I wasn't there the last several months of my membership due to having a baby and them moving to a new town. She tried telling me I need to also pay that before I work out and they won't waive that fee, even though they never told me at sign up 2 days prior. I feel this gym is predatory and doesn't treat their customers well, they only care about the money. I've never written a poor review about anywhere but felt I needed to say something after how I was treated.

Hunter has always communicated with me over the years and although I've never committed to Crossfit 404 he's always been there regardless to answer any questions I may have. The only reason we choose to become members of our current Box over 404 is because over a year ago when we were looking at the best fit for us was because at 404 there was only a 7am & 12pm class that we were interested in. NOW, 404 has a 8am & still has the 12pm which has made it super appealing! Crossfit 404 is nestled conveniently smack dead center of Buckhead and super convenient! We like that we can jump into this location without allowing our head to play games on us because of our current location we are members at being so far away with the Atlanta traffic! The inside of the gym is very clean and equipment is labeled with no confusion as to where it goes! They have coffee, shakes, food, sitting area, phone charging decks and they are pet friendly! I have been fortunate to…read morenot had too many bad CrossFit box experiences across the various places I've lived, but 404 is special and I'm happy to be part of the community. Onboarding was super easy, Hunter set me up with a week's trial period to test out if I liked it and everything was smooth sailing from there. The insides: The gym is clean, maintained, and conveniently located with lots of parking in the back. The equipment is practically never broken and the community is good about cleaning up after itself and keeping it neat looking. The programming: There's a ton of variety at this gym, seven regular CrossFit class time options during the week, three on Saturday and a Sunday WOD; an option for 'misfits', for those who are not looking to engage in as intense a program as CrossFit, two sessions of foundations classes, two weekly 'endurance' classes, and a kids program. Bring a friend one of three times a week to the basic classes and get them started. The skills-build rotates in series, meaning, that there will be a focus of building two particular movements slowly to a one rep max over the course of about a month to six weeks. The two movements are complimentary in muscle groups and then complemented with gymnastics movements such as pull-ups, handstand pushups, muscle-ups and double-under rope jumps, etc. The cycle rotate upper body strength with lower body strength so a member doesn't experience the same movement focus on an on-going basis. Lastly, 404 conducts skills workshops periodically and a barbell class every Saturday at 8am to work on specific skills, which I think is awesome. The trainers: All trainers are very knowledgeable at 404, making sure to go over the correct way to perform a movement to stretching and 'afterparty' recovery movements to keep you healthy and from hurting yourself. If you do hurt yourself, they help to ice you down and walk it off if need be. I personally have been hurting myself a whole lot more as I gain in age and stupidly now cannot gauge well what I can (and mostly cannot do anymore - when your mind tells you that you're done with deadlift - do NOT try to pick up 200+ lbs again). The member ages range from early twenty into the fifties and the trainers accommodate and adjust across any skill set. The community engagement: The members at this gym care about getting involved and giving back. Throughout the year 404 will engage in community events: volunteering events at soup kitchens, fundraisers for various causes, social media give-away contests, and holiday WOD and some parties (bowling and boating anyone?). Additionally, the gym is dog friendly, so bring your four legged friends along.
