Inside the workout room. Rows of treadmill.

Service: used classpass Ambience/Review: boujee. Lounge area (where you check-in) has athletic wear available for sale, some chairs and full mirrors. A corner with fresh juice and healthy food offerings. At the counter, there's hair tie, gum, ear plugs, parking validation ticket and other essential things. The staffs are hit or miss. Some staffs are super nice/helpful while others are snooty. At the entrance to the workout room there are towels available. Around the corner from the fresh juice bar are water fountains and lockers. The lockers are good size and they also have USB ports to charge your phone. The bathrooms are also on that side. I've tried OTF and now trying Barry's bootcamp. A quick analysis for you: 1. Pros. Workout routine is rigid and more effective. You run on the treadmill for a fixed time and do floor workouts for a fixed time. You can adjust the workout "level" by running at speed or using weights that works for you. Fixed timing is a good practice for me particularly because if I'm told to do x reps I cheat. 2. Pros. Instructor gives you levels of workout. Example: run at 6-7-8. Allows you to go at your pace. Same for weights. 3. Pros. Dark room with red light. Helps you focus and get in the zone. 4. Pros. The treadmills are legit and super stable. Can handle super fast running or force. Easier on knees. 5. Cons. Dark room so hard to see the instructor demonstrate the workouts on the floor. The room is narrow and long, again hard to see the instructor demonstrate workout on the floor. 6. Pros. Music is perfect. Beats match the workout and good transition between routines. 7. Pros. The weights are good quality. 8. Cons. There are no disinfecting wipes or no one to clean the equipments while we move from treadmill to floor (and vice versa). 9. Cons. No mats available to rest knees or back while doing routines on the floor. 10. Cons. Instructor doesn't fix your form. 11. Pros. Instructor is focussed on carrying out the class, no jokes or extra talk. 12. Cons. The instructor does not fix any one's form. But overall it's a good spot for folks who get more workout in a class setting.

Definitely go to Barry's with a friend! I went a couple of weeks ago with a few friends and it was much better the 2nd time around than the first. Also, I think Bradley at the front desk made the experience SO much better. The workout was amazing and I had the same instructor as the first time. He was super high energy, funny, and clear in his instructions. I would definitely go again. It's also super clean!

The best way to describe Barry's is chaotic energy. I tried this workout for the first time and am personally not a fan for several reasons. First, I signed up for a class with a group, but they had difficulty finding my class registration when I went to check-in. Most of us with the group were new to Barry's and I found it disappointing that there was no proper introduction to the studio or class format. The room is so dark and music is incredibly loud, so the lack of introduction by the instructor made it difficult to keep track of what was going on. I didn't even realize when we were transitioning from the floor back to the tread because no one explained the class flow. Also, since the instructor is leading a treadmill group and floor group at the same time, it's hard to follow the right instructions especially with the loud music. There were no modifications provided for the tread or floor. I run regularly, albeit not on a treadmill, and fell during a high speed sprint, badly skinning both of my knees. The instructor barely checked on me then or throughout the workout. I wasn't the only one who struggled either. Finally, there was no correction to form for the floor workout or guidance given as to number of reps. This caused more confusion and makes for high injury potential, as illustrated. Barry's is honestly such an overrated and impersonal workout. It felt totally corporate and not even like a good workout to be worth the astronomical price. I don't think I'll be back or recommend Barry's to others especially with plenty of other better HIIT studios in the area like Bach, The Training Room, etc.

Next time, we’ll hit up Barry’s New York. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bz6MSagJV-d/

I have only been to Barry's once, purely because I was skeptical of the entire process... I did not like the idea of someone "bootcamp style" yelling at me to run faster. Some friends convinced me to go and I absolutely loved it. Sure, there are loads of people in the class that are really in shape but the instructor, Korey, just pushed you to do the best you could do. I did not feel pressured to go further than my body should go. Truly enjoyed Sunday School and will be back for a workout and a smoothie soon!

A really great workout! The instructors and staff are very friendly and helpful. I really like the cold towel at the end and their smoothies are really good.

Barry's Treadmills. Rooms are pretty dark with a reddish light. Instructors brighten/dim to fit the mood.

I've since moved out of the area, but was back in town scoping neighborhoods for when I return to ATL. I decided to stop at the Blast Buckhead location for old time's sake. Unfortunately, my experience didn't live up to my memories. The class that I attended was a 5 min block class which I never cared for in the past and didn't care for this time bc there's not enough time to work up a good sweat at each station before transitioning since the clock keeps running during transitions. This location also has zero COVID safety protocols: because of the constant switching, there is no time to wipe off the shared equipment and wipes aren't even provided on the floor. My biggest gripe, though, was the instructor and his music. I enjoy boutique fitness classes and the playlists usually get me pumped for a great workout. This instructor played LOTS of pop and rock and a handful of 80s/90s R&B songs. By the time there were 20 mins left in the class I hadn't heard a single hip hop song so I asked if he would mind playing some. His response? "Umm... we have to play stuff for everybody." I responded "yes I know. I just haven't heard any [hip hop] so that's why I asked." His response rly annoyed me. I am not a fitness class newbie. OBVIOUSLY most instructors play a variety of music for "everybody" but completely excluding one genre of music doesn't seem like you're playing music for "everybody." Am I not a part of that number? Also, I've been to countless studios-- OTF, Solid Core, Barry's-- and the instructors there ALWAYS welcome requests from participants bc we are the ones working out! I don't plan on joining when I move back. Ugh what a bummer.

I arrived a few minutes early for my first class and was warmly greeted by the front desk. She checked me in and gave me a tour of the space. The restrooms and shower area was fully stocked with goodies in case you left something at home. Good to note if you are headed to work after a workout. I dropped my keys into a locker and waited for class to begin. The instructor, Denae, called me into class a little early and showed me the equipment and treadmills and how everything would flow during the workout. These treadmills go up to 30 incline, woah! Cold water bottles and towels are provided too, so amazing! Class began and we warmed up. I was already breaking a sweat and feeling good when the first block began. The class is broken into smaller blocks of floor and cardio work. After the intervals on the treadmill, it was time to swap to the floor. A super intense workout with long and short resistance bands were killer. I needed to change my band for a 'beginner' band, which the instructor noticed and assisted me so I didn't have to move from my station- Thank you! Fast forward 60 minutes and we were finished, cooling down with some stretches and lite ab work. I left feeling awesome, it was a great experience.

Simon, the front desk associate, was super helpful. He walked me into the studio before class started and gave me a good rundown on the machines and how the class operates. I'm familiar with gym equipment for the most part, but it was nice to see some of the newer machines that this place had. The instructor's name was Carly. Carly was great!! She was motivating and was good at providing guidance throughout the duration of the class. She introduced herself to me before the class started as well. The class itself was INTENSE. But I am a fan of intense, so it was right up my alley. I burned 500+ calories in just under an hour, which is way more than I burn when I just go to the gym. They continued to charge me for months after they moved and I wasn't even coming in. Why would they resume monthly memberships after closing down and moving to a new town to begin with without consent? I signed up again this month not aware of these charges, then AFTER I paid 80.00 to start a new membership, the front desk lady says she needs to talk to me. Accuses me of not paying my old balance and it's my fault because I must have called the bank to stop the charges. I explained I wasn't there the last several months of my membership due to having a baby and them moving to a new town. She tried telling me I need to also pay that before I work out and they won't waive that fee, even though they never told me at sign up 2 days prior. I feel this gym is predatory and doesn't treat their customers well, they only care about the money. I've never written a poor review about anywhere but felt I needed to say something after how I was treated.
