Since joining Fit to Be, my outlook on working out has improved drastically!!! I love coming to the classes and the instructors are all knowledgeable, encouraging and upbeat. I tried Pure Barre for about 3 months, but was seeking variety in my workouts. F2B offers that with a plethora of classes and times! My body (and mind) have been challenged and I love seeing how my strength improves each class. If you're looking for a small studio with great vibes, definitely come check this studio out. Let me join the growing chorus of devotees of the intimate yet challenging classes offered at Fit to Be. First, the logistics. Fit to Be is located in the same building and on the same level as American Roadhouse. There's plenty of parking in the lot behind the building, and the studio has a small lobby area to wait in before classes start. They have a single room for classes, but it has a sliding barn door in the back, making it possible to conduct private training sessions at the same time a larger class is going on. Other reviews note that classes are capped at 15, but I've never had more than twelve. I have yet to take a class with Julie (the owner, acclaimed in many other reviews), but that's because I'm such a huge fan of Bryn's Ballerobica class at 9am on Saturdays. Barre or ballet-inpsired classes are a dime a dozen these days, but Ballerobica is the best I've found. It adds an aerobic element to the standard core exercises, so you feel like you've gotten a much bigger calorie burn. Plus, Bryn is a phenomenal teacher- she pushes without yelling and she is continually upbeat without being fake. Everyone -from students to teachers - seems genuinely glad to be there. I leave class feeling upbeat (and sweaty) which is exactly what I'm looking for. Though I discovered Fit to Be through Classpass (which is awesome, by the way), these are classes I might actually pay extra to be able to attend more of them than the three per month Classpass limits you to. At just $15 for one drop in class (and packages that go down in cost from there), Fit to Be is also one of the more reasonable gyms I've found. I can't wait to try more classes, because Fit to Be is certainly as good as it gets! read more

I cannot say enough good things about this studio. The classes are tough, and the instructors are really amazing. I've taken both Bryn and Meaghan's classes and both were super welcoming, great at explaining proper form/technique, and helped correct & support everyone in the class. While studios themselves aren't that important to me, it's worth noting that this is a great little boutique studio. There's a parking lot behind the building (I've never had an issue finding parking) and the studio is impeccable. There's a shower, towels provided, fruit infused water, free coffee, and they provide all props, mats, etc. If you're looking for a less uppity, tough yet laid-back Barre class, this is the studio to try. I've been to Pure Barre & Exhale and not only felt more welcome at F2B, I also got way more out of the class itself. read more

Have been going for a few weeks now. Really great classes that are geared a bit more towards women - barre/pilates style workouts. The studio itself is very well-maintained and immaculate. There are towels, a shower stall, and citrus-infused water all the time. The classes themselves are definitely challenging in a good way - the exercises focus on muscle groups that are a hard to target otherwise. The studio itself is not large, so there is usually a cap at around 15 (sign up early online!). The instructors go around and make adjustments, which I really appreciate. There is nothing worse than doing something wrong for weeks until someone tells you. I have taken classes with Julie and Bryn, and I really appreciate that they take the time to remember every person's name! I've taken Classic Sculpt, Stretch and Tone, and Ballerobica, and I enjoy all three. If you want a little more cardio, I'd go for Ballerobica. Classic Sculpt is great for targeting those muscles - you'd feel at home if you have some Pilates background. Of the three, Stretch and Tone is probably the most approachable for someone new. read more

I found this place on Yelp, and I'm so glad I tried it-- the rave reviews were spot on. The studio is on a quiet street and street parking has yet to be an issue which is nice- never have to worry about finding a close spot. I've been going to "trio" sessions (3 person class size) for almost 3 weeks now (about 6 classes total so far), and already seeing fantastic results (i.e. stronger core, more defined shoulder muscles). The trio classes are great because they allow individual attention as well as a bit of a community feel- and the price can't be beat. You pick 2 body areas to focus on at the beginning of the class. Most importantly, Julie is great- she will happily work around any injuries or sore muscles or weak areas or limitations in flexibility or athleticism (I'm a tad out of shape right now). She emphasizes listening to your body when certain areas start to hurt, and builds in brief periods of stretching throughout the class for leaner muscles. She pushes you to do more than you think you can, and I end up surprising myself somehow in every class. I leave each class feeling "good tired" and yet refreshed-- there is flavored ice water daily (yesterday's was mint, lime, and watermelon!) and there are hot eucalyptus towels at the end. The music is great, and the stretching at the end is as effective as it is relaxing. read more

I have NEVER felt comfortable at a gym, UNTIL NOW because the vibe at Fit: To Be is so different. It is the opposite of that fishbowl feeling you get at other places. I actually like going there! This is a good little workout place. The equipment is all new and it is an intimate gym. The classes only hold about 15 people total. The classes are very targeted, i.e. arms and abs class or a thighs and butts class. There aren't many gyms that have classes that have such specific classes. The shower they have there is very nice, however it is just one shower in the same area as the bathroom, i.e. if you lock the door, noone else can use the restroom. They have towels and product and the area is nice and new. The classes are good for a basic group workout class. Only complaint is that the instructors often get distracted in the middle of counting reps, so as an accountant, this is quite annoying. Overall, great little gym. read more

Julie and Fit: To Be is great! Her new space is beautiful and conveniently located. The best part about it is how fun it is! Sure, you might want to scream out of pain from time-to-time and body parts might go numb, but miraculously, you still manage to have a good time while getting your butt kicked. Julie is unlike so many other teachers/trainers. She wants to push you to your limits, but she finds that sweet spot. Many trainers will make you push through something that causes injury, while others don't push you enough. Julie respects your limits while pushing them a little more each time. A rare find. Bryn's workout is a killer! You will be challenged and at times it feels like you're pushed to your limits, but it's well worth it! You leave feeling accomplished, sore, and happy! The facility is clean and modern with parking included! I took the arms, thighs, and glutes class... Admittedly there was not much arms incorporated into the workout, but my core, glutes, and legs received one hell of a workout! Class size was small (max of 6 if I remember correctly) which allowed for a more intimate and focused driven workout. She even remembered our names! I took this class with classpass because I function well with diversity, but I will be sure to incorporate a few of these classes into my routine! I am in love!! I have been a member of Fit To Be since July of this summer. My goal has been to go to at least 3 classes a week so I have been able to have a variety of teachers. All of the teachers are welcoming, do the workout with you most of the time and are upbeat. I think my favorite class is Abs, Thighs & Glutes which I am ALWAYS sore from afterwards. I like this studio because the classes are smaller (maybe 3-12). The teachers take the time to remember your name, compliment you on form and help you if you aren't doing something correctly. The workouts incorporate a lot of different items that you use which keeps it interesting. There is flavored water that is delicious as well. The energy is just overall awesome. I love Fit2Be! I love the ballerobica class with Bryn, as well as her stretch & tone class. It's not easy, not even remotely close to the concept of easy, but you can really see improvement if you commit to it. I already slept well and ate well, and these two classes managed to improve my physical and mental self even more. I also am a regular at the Wednesday night Yin Yoga with Ashley, who is equally fantastic. Yin Yoga focuses on joints, not muscles, and it is really great for me because I have some pretty tight hips (and I don't mean that as cool). Plus Bryn and Ashley both really take the time to talk to you and can find alternatives to those with, uh, less than fantastic shapes ;) If you're paying for a gym membership but you feel like you're not getting much out of it, give F2B a go-- first class is free! The classes will push you to your edge, and you'll find that its much easier to commit to working out when you're in a room of people who are suffering right there with you! I could go to a gym close to my home in Cartersville, but it's worth the 40 miles of driving to go to Fit to Be! read more

Fit: To Be is the BEST. Every class feels like a personal training session because Julie is so personal with everyone. She knows everyone's strengths and weaknesses and helps them through it! All while being a super tough and intense trainer, helping us feel the best (/ worst) burn possible! I've been to her Boot Camp; Arms & Abs; Abs, Thighs & Glutes; Body Sculpting; and Cardio Barre--all of them are so different, but AWESOME! I especially love the new Cardio Barre class- it goes by so quickly because you're always doing something different! Julie brings people together in a way that is very rare for a gym. COME TRY THIS GYM. I have never been a super athletic person but I have loved reaching new fitness goals here and have felt a major improvement in my body. The classes are fun and unique but also very challenging. I have a friend who completely changed her body by coming here and was a total inspiration to me. I have been going to the gym for years, but wanted something guided to really make a change. I tried Pure Barre, but I felt like they spoke in code and it was very corporate. Not here! The classes are always different, even if you take the same ones every week. Laura Dee is my most regular instructor and I love how she changes stuff up and seems to genuinely care about your workout. They often have specials, making it affordable if you're willing to commit to a package. The owner Julie and the instructors are incredibly friendly and work hard to make everyone feel welcome - they will remember your name after one class. Fit to be is absolutely my favorite exercise studio around for barre classes, etc. The studio is small, so everyone gets a mirror and so everyone can see the instructor at all times. The instructors make sure to suggest modifications if a positions isn't working for you, and offer challenges if it's too easy. The class times and variety are excellent, and there is a shower, which makes this studio the best option for classes before work. I simply love Julie. She is the ultimate in women's motivators. Her bootcamps are great, her body part specific classes (re: abs, thighs, & glutes) are even better. She incorporates Pilates and ballet exercises into her classes for a fantastic workout everytime. You will walk into her class thinking...pssh what is a max of 8 pounds in free weights going to do for me? You will walk out wobbling, yet feeling a total endorphin rush that will leave you coming back for more. Her studio is beautiful and totally worth the 30 min drive for me. Fit to Be is an awesome studio! The classes are varied and you can find cardio, weights, toning, and stretching. I have been working out for years, and it was exciting to find somewhere that still regularly challenges me, and I can see a difference in my body. I can't tell you how much I love this place. After a year away from Atlanta (my home town) and after moving to a new part of the city I was totally unfamiliar with, I felt so lucky to find FIT:TO BE. Every day I am so excited to step into the studio. They made me feel amazing and welcome the second I came in to ask about classes. Since that first day I have been totally hooked. I can truly say I love every class and each class has something special and unique about it that I've never experienced in any other fitness studio. I really wish I could make it to every class!! The trainers here are just as special and unique as they classes they teach. They'll make you work hard. You'll sweat and your muscles will burn like heck but the trainers here will make it all worth it. Each and everyone of them makes me (and everyone else there) feel special, welcomed, and strong. I've found muscles I didn't know existed and seen myself do things I never thought possible thanks to the encouragement of the trainers here. Seriously! I mean I would see people do some of the things I do here and thought they were super humans but now I'm doing them! Julie is AMAZING!! I have been going to her classes (mainly boot camps) for about 8 months and don't want to ever go anywhere else. I have been to every type of class from Physique 57 in NYC to Pure Barre to Crossfit and Julie's classes are better than any of them. It is the perfect combination of toning and cardio. I found Fit: To Be when browsing Yelp for a fitness studio in my neighborhood back in summer 2014. I booked my first Trios class with Julie for the next day (semi-private personal training session). Trios classes were a great option for me when I first started because I got to know what kind of exercises I could expect in group classes, test my body's limits and really learn how to keep proper form to avoid injury. I started mixing in group classes with Trios sessions regularly and pretty soon I found myself coming to Fit: To Be at least 3x a week - and wanting to! The group classes are fun and challenging. No gym-timidation whatsoever. I signed up to take BodySculpt /Barre and Abs, Thighs, & Glutes classes with Julie whenever I could come in at first. Since then I've also added Bryn's Ballerobica class and the new Burn Barre class with Stephanie to my favorites. Even though I sort of have a weekly "routine" of classes I like to take, it doesn't feel routine or rehearsed like other barre studios, because the instructors switch up the exercises or introduce new things in every class - in fact, I've found that the classes get more fun and challenging as I continue to get stronger and more mindful every day. Julie was excellent in really listening to me when things didn't feel right in my left shoulder by suggesting modifications to the exercises that worked for me while I was healing / getting therapy. I had injured my deltoid some months before and had ignored the slight discomfort in my arm up until coming to Fit: To Be and being encouraged to take care of myself and my body by going back to see my doctor - she was right! What I thought was just a minor injury/annoyance for months ended up requiring 6 weeks of therapy and re-training of the muscles around my injury to correct! The studio is a hub for brining community together and I've met and become connected to so many fabulous women (and men) - all because of Fit: To Be. This is hands down my new favorite studio. I just discovered it a few weeks ago, decided to check it out on a whim and am already a huge fan. It offers a great variety of classes at scheduled times that work well with my weekly schedule. The instructor I've had (Karen) puts an emphasis on personal attention which I love, it's like getting personal training in a small class. I found this gym through Classpass and have now been a member for about a month. I have really enjoyed all the classes and everybody is so nice. When I first joined, I had an injury and all the instructors made sure that I had the correct modifications to work with. Each class is different and challenging enough to make it interesting and fun. All the instructors make sure that you get the best workout possible, but in the healthiest way possible. This is a fantastic boutique fitness studio located right in the heart of the Virginia Highlands. I've taken Ballerobica twice with Bryn and it is a great workout. It's like a barre class but HARDER. Bryn is a great trainer. She'll push you to work hard but is kind and encouraging. I'd recommend her classes to anyone. I've been going to Fit to Be for two months now, and can honestly say that I've never felt happier or more confident in my body. I thought I was in decent shape before, but every one of these classes kick my butt (in a good way!) and are still challenging and fun even after coming here regularly. I've taken a few pilates & barre classes elsewhere but none of them have been as transformative and supportive as the ones at Fit to Be. Julie and the other teachers here are so helpful and the encouraging, as are the other women who attend the classes. It really feels more like a sanctuary than a gym. Plus, the space is beautiful. Of all the classes, my favorites are Body Sculpt; Abs, Thighs, & Glutes; and Ballerobica, though all of the ones I've tried have been wonderful. read more

One of the distinguishing features I love about this studio is the small class size. The instructors really focus on every student in class and I've loved the classes I've taken with Bryn, Julie, and Meaghan. I tried out this studio through my class pass and after my second class today I decided I'll be coming much more than the 3x per month the pass allows. I'm blown away by what a great workout it is! I've taken classes with both Karen and Nicole and they are FANTASTIC. I have been skeptical to try barre because I'm not the most coordinated and usually stick with spin and running- but both instructors put me at ease and really helped me with my form.
