Over the month of January I noticed I preferred the class structure and times over working out at a local gym on my own. I cancelled ClassPass and joined MAD with an unlimited membership and haven't looked back. Being new to ATL it can be overwhelming finding a new gym where you feel included. Rae and her team genuinely make an effort to get to know every new client and make them feel comfortable. This gym has a range of gender, age and ability level but no matter where you are on the spectrum of fitness, it's a great workout if you are willing to push yourself. Walked in knowing no one and now I go to the monthly socials alone - I even drag my friends on a monthly basis to join me :) Definitely check it out if you're into group fitness!

The new facility is sparkling and definitely worth visiting if you haven't seen it yet and becoming a member if you swim work out regularly. We paid about $250 for the family to join for the year and the bonus is that it gives the whole family access to all Atlanta public pools. The building is very open, bright (lots of natural light come in through the glass), and beautifully built. While ATL isn't the Northeast, winter is still somewhat more of a period of hibernation for a lot of people and the opening of this center provides a very nice public option for continuing to be active. It seems like they offer a wide variety of classes and activities for kids. While I can't speak to the basketball gym, workout facilities, and indoor running track on the second floor, the pool is great. It's helped our toddler develop an appreciation for the water and we haven't even tried their infant swim program yet. Some highlights of the pool are that the water is very warm, they have a beach front walk-in, a separate family changing room, a variety of aquatic toys for kids to enjoy, and a few fun sprinkler type poles in the pool. For parents looking to entertain their kids this could be a great drop-in option too at just $5 a visit I believe. My only complaints are 1) We've waited months to get our membership cards and the machine that prints them is always down or unavailable for some reason. This is obviously not such a big deal but 2) As this "undiscovered" gem is no longer so undiscovered, we've seen more and more swimmers come to the pool and it can be difficult to find a free lane to swim in now (especially around peak hours weeknights after work). This may just be what happens as you become a victim of your own success. The pool is huge but it's unfortunate that the way they built it the lanes cannot be expanded or added easily because the free swim section has a giant physical barrier from the lanes part.

Never judge a gym by its equipment…read more First of all, I didn't even read the directions. I showed up in fish flip-flops with socks because I thought I signed up for Pilates. Turns out we were doing a full-body workout, and I definitely should have worn sneakers. That's on me. Then I walked in and they were fumbling with the TV. I immediately thought, "Lord, what did I sign myself up for? Are we about to watch a trainer on a screen and work out?" Little did I know, the trainer was standing right there. She was incredibly nice, welcoming, and helpful. Don't let that fool you, though. She worked us HARD. She was like a wolf in sheep's clothing--in reverse. Sweet as could be, but she had us working like dogs. I had so much fun. They incorporated equipment I had never used before, including resistance bands and other training tools that challenged me in a good way. I booked through ClassPass, and when I finished the class, I immediately wanted to take pictures and leave a review. That's rare for me. Usually businesses ask for a review. This time, I wanted to leave one on my own. The studio is well organized and clean. The dumbbells and BOSU balls are neatly displayed on the walls. In the back, they have steps, kettlebells, and additional equipment. The bathroom was nice and clean. Across the hall, they have another room with Pilates mats, blocks, and equipment. The space almost feels like a refurbished ballet studio with ballet barres along the walls. Parking was easy, the workout was excellent, and the trainer was fantastic. Overall: 10/10. I will definitely be back.

The site shown # weeks at a special introductory price, whilst attempting to book the only option was for two weeks at said rate. I took a screenshot of the website (as advertised for 3 weeks) and messaged the studio.... someone then explained ton me that it SHOULD be for 2 weeks (which i understand). Here is where the problem comes in, 1) That is the studio's mistake, not mine. Thus they should honor the price that they had advertised on their website. 2) They did not. This was incredibly off putting to me and not indicative of the type of character that I would look for in a place of practice or anywhere that I would be spending money. Overall I just felt like that was a dishonorable way to handle a customer that was looking to become a new member. Even though its farther away from me than the bigger, more popular and established studios in my neighborhood, I wanted to support this studio. It appeared to be small and a more intimate vibe, however, once met with this unprofessionalism I quickly signed on for a much more expensive, yet conveniently located Bodyrok. Super professional and by the book, i'll pay more for that any day.

The class was so active and engaging that the time flew by so quickly. Tiffany was very patient with me and literally showed me the ropes/cords. I'm fairly new to reformer Pilates but this was the best studio I've been to. It's such a bonus that there is free public parking in the adjacent garage next to the AMC and they don't require you to wear grip socks for the workout. I must come back here again. This studio is welcoming to newbies and seasoned vets alike.

Woah, what a workout…read more I'm a (trying to be consistent this time around) member of Classpass and really enjoy a good pilates class and figured I'd explore a few around the city and found my faves. And I ended up at solidcore one afternoon! This wasn't my first time at Pilates, but my first time at solidcore. I'm no pro by any means, but definitely a fan. Located in the Madison Yards shopping/retail area, solidcore is right next to a (free) parking deck and a few other fitness and beauty spots. The parking deck was super clutch as I didn't luck up on the great, but limited, spots right outside of the door. It was easy to park and walk only a few steps to class. So important if you're about to get your butt kicked in a pilates workout and need to hobble out to your vehicle, lol. Upon entry, there wasn't anyone at the front but I was obviously at the right place. I love that the door is actually locked and those signed up for class receive a code in advance. Love security measures to keep folks safe. It's an intimate space, so it was easy to see where to go and upon entry, I met with Sarah, our enthusiastic instructor. This class was packed, not a reformer was left out! I'll say that this was a great workout, but it wasn't for anyone who hasn't been to multiple solidcore classes, not even just pilates, Sarah was fantastic, but I absolutely noticed that I was the only person in the class who seemed to be new to solidcore. They do traditional pilates, but the dim lighting, the pacing, not for me. Being that I still consider myself a beginner because I don't immediately know the names of each move (like in Yoga) and because my body doesn't immediately flow into the movement because I'm still computing the instructions, lol, I was not on track with the others. I reallyyyyy wish I would have known it wasn't a beginners class or that it had been labeled as such on Classpass (idk if it is on their website, it very well may be). Luckily for me, I'm no quitter and I really don't even think there would have been a clear moment for me to slip out anyways lol. Sarah was kind, as at a few points when she saw that my form was incorrect she corrected me. I would have loved more guidance but don't blame that on Sarah in any way, as it really was dark in there and she had 6+ other students to pay attention to lol. But I'm big on getting my form right and found that to be a little struggle due to the pace and my usual 4-eyed self not having glasses and unable to see my form in the mirrors due to the lighting LOL. Very much, personal issues that I won't put on solidcore. Overall, a great class taught by Instructor Sarah and my body ached the next day in the best way. Although I had a good experience, I think I'll return once I have more consistent pilates classes under my belt so that I can keep up, or I'll be back when I can slip into a lower-level class until then!
