This has got to be the absolute best gym I've ever been to in my life. I am legitimately not kidding. It's also the most expensive gym membership I've ever paid for, but it is TOTALLY worth it. EVERY. SINGLE. PENNY. I have the fitness unlimited membership and let me tell you, the Build & Burn classes are a MUST if you have fitness goals you are trying to reach. I've been going for about a month now, my body is looking better than ever, and I have not done the same circuit twice. They are constantly switching it up, and the trainers are so knowledgeable and have such great attitudes. It's HARD, but it's doable and only 45 minutes. I burn at least 500 calories each class. COVID News: The classes aren't packed at all. Everyone social distances and cleans everything after use. Trust me, you're safe. I cannot say enough good things about this gym. After a one week free trial at The Refinery, we knew this was the perfect gym for us. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed. The facility is absolutely stunning: brand-new top of the line equipment, great flooring and finishes, well-appointed locker rooms, and even an outdoor workout area. We tried a variety of classes/programs and the common theme was trainers who genuinely care about your progress and being the best they can be at their jobs. Macy, who ran my morning class today, asked before class how things were going and was genuinely interested in any feedback as she explained that the gym is very receptive to adapting to its patron's needs (I didn't have anything I could think of to improve the gym). Speaking of classes, they have a few formats. Small Group Training (SGT) is classes of 4 people maximum, which is nice if you're looking to improve your form or want a little more of a personalized experience. On top of that, there's group classes. So far I've done the Scorch (Cardio) and Gauntlet (strength) classes and both have been absolutely incredible. Unlike other group fitness programs, The Refinery keeps you moving through the workout so you don't end up doing one exercise for 10 minutes straight, which makes the workouts seem so much quicker. Additionally, they have two trainers on each class, which is helpful as they guide you through proper form with the huge selection of equipment they use for these classes. The result is you pushing yourself harder in new ways, but feeling comfortable and confident because trainers are always there to make sure you've got proper form and are motivated (music is always awesome too which helps). In addition to their classes, they have a "Bio-Circuit", which is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. After an initial setup with a trainer, I can go to the biocircuit anytime, scan my phone, and be guided from machine to machine on a workout routine that lasts 24 minutes. These machines aren't your typical machines, they automatically adjust to your height and reach as you walk up, they have touchscreens that count your reps and ensure you're extending as far as you need, and they push you to remain "in compliance" based on your strength abilities. This is GREAT for a quick full body workout when you don't have time for the classes. I'm so happy The Refinery has joined the Westside Community, and I can't wait to continue to improve myself with the help of the incredible trainers and staff. read more

I've been a member here for the last three months and I'm a huge fan. Staff is friendly and refers to me by name, the gym and locker room are spotless and the biocircuit is an incredible way to get a great workout in real quick on the way home from work. I never felt like I was being sold like traditional gyms and can honestly say that is worth every penny - I genuinely look forward to going. I'm far from a six-pack but a heck of a lot closer than I was three months ago. The Refinery is a great addition to our growing neighborhood and I'm glad they're here. read more

Great staff and a responsive team that listens to their members. They've taken and incurred expenses to remain open through covid and provide effective, practical safeguards. The equipment is all top notch and if they don't have something you need ownership is responsive in getting it ordered and adding it to the equipment. One of the few gyms with a legit outdoor turf training area with sleds and other field equipment which is some of the most effective legwork you can do. Also for members who go to work after they have great clean locker rooms, clean showers and disposables. read more

I've been going to The Refinery for about a month now and so far it's been amazing. As someone who just started their fitness journey, I was worried that their Group X classes would be too high level for me but as it turns out, while they are in fact difficult, the trainers are great at helping you modify to your level of athleticism. I also started the small group training classes this week which are great for focusing on building overall strength. Everyone on the Refinery team is very knowledgable, supportive and helpful. They make you not only feel at home, but also help to motivate you to do your best. I loved that after only two days, I came in and members of staff already knew my name. I cannot express how wonderful Mary is for Pilates... she is the best Pilates instructor I have ever had!!! I have had multiple back surgeries and Mary worked with me at levels I was comfortable with, while still getting an amazing workout! Within one visit, when I went to work the following day, I had so many co-workers ask what had changed with me, because my posture was soooo much better. She also has great knowledge of physiology and truly understands how the body works. If you are not using Mary for Pilates, you are missing out!!!! read more

Nineteen years ago, after many years of being a business road warrior, at age 50 I found myself sadly out of shape, feeling unhealthy and looking older than my years. A good friend had started going to the gym and using a personal trainer. When he introduced me to Neal Garner, my life changed. At 6' 5", I was a basketball player in high school, played racquetball several times a week, did the Peachtree Road Race multiple times, but still carried extra pounds that I knew were unhealthy at "middle age". I won't lie, the first few weeks of training with Neal were brutal. My body wasn't used to the routines, and programs he was running me through. But I was encouraged by my friend and the complete body transformation he was going through. Neal, a professional trainer with more certifications than I had ever seen, was patient, encouraging and designed a program for ME. A program that started off slowly and gradually ramped up as my body got stronger. Within several months I had dropped over 25 pounds, had boundless energy, and looked better physically but more importantly felt like a different person. And I looked forward to my sessions and actually felt bad physically, if for business reasons I had to miss a week or two. For 19 years now I have continued to train with Neal Garner. Not only has he inspired me to take better care of myself but he has become a good friend. And over the years, as I have aged , recovered from shoulder surgeries and bad knees, he has adapted my training regimen to accommodate my age as well as my previous injuries. And during that time my goals have changed. At 69, I not looking to do as much weight as a younger man, but want to concentrate on flexibility and overall strength. Neal has (and continues to ) train many professional athletes and young men and women involved in college sports. His knowledge of exercise physiology continues to amaze me. He continues to further his knowledge with updated training and certifications. If you are looking for a professional to help you on your journey of "total body fitness", I can't think of a more qualified and capable person than Neal Garner. A consummate professional and genuinely nice guy.
