My husband was referred to Ezra Paul by a friend who had used them for his wedding tuxedo, so we made a point of stopping by the studio while in DC last summer. My husband has an incredibly hard time finding clothes that fit (he's tall & slender), and his aforementioned friend has a similar body-type. Though the pre-made suits looked better on him than any he'd found before, they would still have required a bit of tailoring. In the end, we opted to have Ezra make my husband a custom suit as well as a few dress shirts. The number of different fabric choices bordered on overwhelming; with Ezra's help, we were able to narrow it down to a few a great options. The shirts arrived quickly and look great to boot. The suit, unfortunately, took a little longer than we had expected. Apparently, the Italian factory that makes them shuts down for a couple of weeks in the summer (lucky them!). Ezra had expected the suit to ship prior to the closure but it ended up not being finished in time. The good news is that the suit looks super sharp and fits my husband perfectly. In fact, he likes it so much that he's planning to wear it to all 3 (!!) weddings we're attending this month. read more

When we started our wedding planning, I knew I wanted a custom made tuxedo. A DC gem! I used Ezra Paul for a custom suit for my wedding this summer, and I could not recommend him more highly. Ezra's attention to detail, meticulousness, and instincts are all spot-on. He is also EXTREMELY knowledgeable and loves to communicate that knowledge, and I always felt like I learned a lot when I went to consult with him. Finally, Ezra was very sensitive to the date of my wedding and was always on top of the factory to make sure everything was ready on time. So working with Ezra was delightful. As for the product: the suit Ezra made for me is far and away the best suit I own. Ezra's custom program is terrific--Ezra can customize almost anything to meet the client's vision, but he is also very straightforward about the limitations of what he can produce. The process was surprisingly quick too--measurements did not take long at all, and Ezra has a lot of great resources to help clients decide on their design (fabric swatches, samples of button options, even different options for canvassing). Ezra Paul Clothing is a truly welcome men's store, not only to 17th Street, but to all of the metro DC area. I have now had a few shirts and a beautiful suit made by Ezra and I couldn't be happier. I have had custom suits and shirts made by Barneys, Paul Stuart, Suit Supply, and a great tailor (who I miss) in NY, but Ezra has now made some of the finest. Ezra has brought in some great fabrics and styles to choose from, has set a very nice and fair price point (for both shirts and suits), and has a seemingly endless amount of patience to help you select some great clothes. He is also all about good classic fit and styling, which has been lost today. Plus, he is a knowledgeable and great guy. I can tell that if at any point I am not happy - Ezra will make it right. I live a few blocks away, which is going to be dangerous. I will be heading back in a few weeks to make an overcoat for the winter - can't wait. Ezra is a throwback: deeply knowledgeable, service-oriented, understated, and classy. His products are timeless and updated; his store is welcoming and no-pressure. Last year Knot Standard burned me with terrible service after repeated promises (see my review for more information). Their company is a bunch of twentysomethings with the keys to a Ferrari they have no idea how to drive. Ezra is totally different. He knows his products inside and out. It's clear this is his life's passion, not just something to do for a few years before grad school. His factory is in Italy, not in tiny-handed Southeast Asia. His prices are competitive. He makes you feel like you are his only client. He communicates well throughout the process. I am very happy with my navy blue wool overcoat, which included a custom lining that took him several extra hours to locate. I wear it with satisfaction and look forward to future visits. read more

Ezra made a custom suit for my wedding a couple of years ago and I could not be happier with it. Initially, I was shopping for an off-the-rack suit but was put off by how poorly they fit and the boring styling. When I discussed my needs with Ezra, it was immediately clear that he is very well versed in men's fashion and enjoys helping his customers. Someone has to be extremely great for me to go through those steps and Ezra is just that. I went there because it's the best place to buy a suit in DC, period. For my wedding, I knew I wanted to do something special and he helped me craft the perfect outfit. Unlike my wife, I knew I would wear my jacket and slacks for other events after the wedding. People always ask where I got it. I say, "Ezra Paul, only the best." It might be a few years before people realize how talented this dude is. I purchased some custom shirts from Ezra Paul and couldn't be happier with the shirts, the buying experience, and the service. I have purchased custom shirts from both local and online shops (Cottonwork, Proper Cloth, Modern Tailor, etc.). The shirts I purchased from Ezra Paul have a better fit and higher quality than other custom shirts I have purchased. The fitting process started by trying on one of the off-the-rack shirts and making small tweaks. I liked this better than "starting from scratch" and having all measurements taken at the initial fitting. Lots of fabrics to choose from, every option you could want, and plenty of guidance from Ezra to steer you away from questionable style choices. Plenty of other fantastic looking items in the store including some amazing fabric swatches. You can rest assured that you will leave Ezra Paul looking great and feeling great as well. read more

I bought a custom suit from Ezra for my wedding. My experience was phenomenal. Ezra did not apply sales pressure when I first walked through the door. His relaxed demeanor allowed me to comfortably discuss my design goals after which he explained how he could deliver the right suit for me. The materials and craftsmanship - all sourced from Italy - are top notch and do justice to Ezra's classic design aesthetic. My suit was delivered on time and needed very few adjustments. Before ordering I was able to make a few customizations such as adding a ticket pocket and choosing the color of the lining and inside pockets. I wanted to have a beautiful suit for my upcoming wedding and went to one of the many "made to order" companies that have sprung up recently. They did a horrible job and the suit they produced was unacceptable. With little time to spare I found Ezra Paul. Thank goodness. Ezra has an amazing eye for fit and spent a great deal of time working with me to ensure that the suit fit my decidedly not off the rack build. The result was a gorgeous suit that required almost no alterations when it came back from the tailor in Italy. It is well constructed (full canvass) and perfectly tailored. At the time I had already ordered a custom suit online that didn't fit right so I brought it into Ezra to take a look and used his expert advice on addressing the issues with the suit. This store is around the corner from my house and I pass by it nearly every day and finally popped in last month since I was in the market for a new sport coat and some shirts. The place has an old-school feel to it and I was expecting the clothes to be more conservative but the style was definitely more modern. I recently lost about 25lbs and a lot of my clothes don't fit that great. I wasn't planning on buying anything that day but the cut of the jackets/shirts was nearly perfect and the prices were not as bad as some of the other stores I have dealt with in the past, so I pulled the trigger. My boyfriend and I were a little skeptical because of the high ratings of this store, but we stopped in last weekend when we were in the neighborhood and it's a cool spot and seems legit. The shirts fit him perfectly off the rack and he was super happy to be in and out so quickly and off to Hank's Oyster Bar. The salesman was nice, but not pushy, and recommended a couple of shirt/tie combinations that were fun but still work appropriate. Unfortunately my boyfriend doesn't have much of a reason to wear a suit very often, but there seemed to be some nice options there as well. My husband purchased a custom made suit from Ezra Paul for our wedding a couple of years ago. It's still the best suit he's ever bought. Sharp and well-tailored the suit is flattering and hip but still a classic. My husband wanted a blue suit which can be a tricky color sometimes and Ezra picked the perfect fabric which is really timeless and elegant.
