I had a fantastic experience with Eyestarr and specifically Casey. They text me back after leaving a VM and we were able to figure out a time that worked best. Even squeezed me in before the holidays since I had a bunch going on and limited availability. I recently got a lash lift from EyeStarr after purchasing a Gilt City voucher. I typically get my eyelashes permed but have been reading about lash lifts and decided to give it a shot. I have really short and straight lashes. I get the perms because it gives me the illusion of length and the look of having my lashes curled and looks extra long when i apply mascara. My lash perms typically last me 5-6 weeks. Its been 3 weeks since my lift and my lashes are looking barely curled at all. Putting on mascara doesn't really help either. I am a bit disappointed in the lift and wish the technician had been a little more meticulous about making sure my lashes were "combed" as much as they could be. She told me the lift is much prettier than perm but when i looked at the finished product, i couldn't help but be a bit disappointed in her job. I wish I had said something at the time but was pressed on time as I had plans afterward. So I said they look great and left. Although I am not sure they would have been able to do anything much more. The space is very small open. You don't have private rooms which is fine. Conversations are constant and if you are looking for something relaxing, this isn't the place. overall, I wil stick with my usual place for perms. read more

If you, like me, have bad reactions to eyebrow waxing, this is the place for you. Their brow shaping is amazing. They have used tweezers and scissors to shape my brows and to be honest, it's the best. I get a very natural look, but they completely clean and shape your eyebrows. I go before any big event (my wedding, my sister's wedding, and anywhere I might be heavily photographed) and I feel like a total star. You will also feel like you're getting the Starr treatment because the space is quite small with only 2 chairs/beds. An appointment is necessary! read more

Andrea is a miracle worker who transforms your face armed with nothing more than glue and a pair of tweezers (luscious mink lashes help). Having lash extensions put in is one step in your beauty regime that you do not want to scrim on and Andrea is the real deal. Her skills were honed through years of experience. She is quick and thorough and listens carefully to what you tell her (whether specific requests or just concerns and fears) and uses lashes of various length, thickness, and curliness to customize the perfect look for you. The result is a twinkly smile and eyes that sparkle even for someone with the shortest, thinnest lashes that point straight down normally (why hello there!) A couple of quick tips for newbies- shower in the morning on the day of your appointment so you don't have to risk getting your new set of lashes wet within 24 hours; if you're a contact lens wearer, you might feel some discomfort in the shower as water can get trapped in your new lashes (weird but true) so do not wear lenses in the shower if you can help it. Contemporary and trendy decor, amazing smelling candle and magazines to read while you wait, you can't go wrong. I went for a brow shaping/wax and they did a great job. They took lots of care to wax in portions so as to actually shape my brow, finishing with tweezing and filling in with pencil. Pricey, as far as brows go, but I trusted them to do it right and they did. Check Gilt City for any deals -- that's how I found them. read more

There was a Gilt city deal so decided to give this place a try. My technician finished a full set in 40 mins, which means she rushed through the process because it usually takes 1-1.5 hrs to complete a full set. On top of that, her technique was off. She put way too much glue so you can see small chunks of dried glue at the root of the lashes and some even stuck on my eyelid, which hurt when I brushed my lashes. When lashes are applied correctly, they blend in with your real lashes so you can't even tell there are extensions. Most importantly, when she was done, i couldn't open my eyes because there was so much glue stuck on my lashes. She had to help remove some of the glue/brush my lashes so that I can open my eyes. I removed them within a week to not risk losing too many of my real lashes. What a bad experience and would not recommend read more

I can't speak for the lash extensions, but I have gotten three lash lifts here over the past couple of months. Two out of the three times, I felt as if I didn't even get a lift done. I really wanted to give this place a chance because both of the technicians are so sweet. However, if you are looking to get a lash lift done, I would recommend to look elsewhere. read more

I honestly feel bad giving one star for the lash lift...because it doesn't even deserve that. I went today for a lift and tint, seemed to go well during the appointment - she didn't talk at all while it was developing so I thought that was kind of weird. But the kicker for me was when she said "normally this works by the second or third time you come" AS SHE SCRAPED THE SHIT out of my eyes because she painted my whole damn lid with the tint. Loved walking out with lashes that we're straight as nails and two black eyes because she didn't get the tint off....don't worry though! You can definitely get them wet after 24 to 48 hours (because "sometimes it still lifts when you leave"). Lash lift + tint, $130. Some lady on bus giving you a pep talk because it makes you look like you cried off all your makeup, PRICELE$$. I do have to say, some lady's eyelash extensions by Andrea looked great...just don't get the lift and tint... unless you think it's worth $130 to walk out the with the same eyelashes as before and only the slight addition of two raccoon eyes. read more

Andrea (former manager of Luxluash) says that lashes can transform the face and it's completely true. I can't imagine my life without my lash extensions and I don't want to. I've seen other "lash extensions" that look clumpy and unnatural, her work is nothing like that. I love that I can wake up and not really need makeup, and my eyes look 100% better in photos. The lashes are also easy to care for and stay looking fresh for at least a month. Made an appointment with Kacey who was friendly but not happy with her application technique. The lashes were not striaght and glue was clumpy. Andrea was pleasant and professional, rescheduled my appointment free of charge. I have over 3 years of experience getting my lashes done. Not a quality experience, and overpriced. Environment is awkward, cramped, and unwelcoming and stylists do a poor job isolating the eyelashes which results in clumpy extensions and damage to natural lashes. There are competitors on the same street that offer better services at half the price and are far more welcoming. Luckily, Rise was able to fit me in on short notice and fix my eyelashes after a bad experience at Eyestarr. read more

I have been a client of Andrea's for almost 2 years now, and she is the best in the business. I decided to try lashes in 2013 since my natural lashes are blonde, and I usually have to load on the mascara and curl them etc.. After my first installation by Andrea I was HOOKED! I wear significantly less makeup with my perfect, soft, full lashes, and feel beautiful from the moment I wake up in the morning! Not only do I not have to apply loads of mascara anymore, I also don't have to wear eyeliner. The lashes photograph beautifully, and really make your face more youthful, and your eyes big and bright. Eye Starr really is in a league of it's own. I used to go there regularly for brow waxing when I lived in the area and Andrea was always extremely friendly and accommodating. She's good at keeping relatively on schedule (and for having only one person working at a time, that's pretty impressive). Her decor is beautiful and classy. She really tries to remember the details from her regulars and makes the effort to get to know her new clients. I hadn't been there in a while since I moved, but saw a Gilt offer for a full-set plus touch up that I bought on a whim. Unfortunately, I completely forgot about the voucher until about two days before it expired, and Andrea couldn't get back to me with an appt until after it expired. She still honored the voucher, even though apparently Gilt does not honor her portion after its expiration (its at her discretion to still let me USE it, but she will not be compensated for it by Gilt). My eyelashes feel light as air and look so amazing. I'm super thankful that she still let me use my voucher, and I'm so impressed with my lashes! I have gone to EyeStarr for two lash extensions, which I was thrilled with. One was for my wedding, and I could not have gotten more compliments on the long natural look of my lashes. I have also had my eyebrows done by Andrea, which I was very happy with!! Each time, I felt like it was a very enjoyable, personal experience. EyeStarr's space on Newbury Street is cozy and they have tasteful decor with lots of sunlight. But what I am most excited about is their recently launched beauty product line!! I recently purchased Eyestarr's Lash Growth Serum and their Coconut Rosewater facial mist. I have already noticed a difference in the length of my lashes but what I also personally find incredible is the softness of my lashes. They were extremely dry prior to using the lash serum, so I'm looking forward to continuing this regimen. The Cococut Rosewater is so refreshing, it smells so good and you'll find yourself spraying it on your face whenever you can. It keeps my skin hydrated and fresh! I apply it every morning and before bed. You HAVE to try it!! I've also learned there will be a kids line of skincare. I will certainly be interested in those products for my daughter! read more
