Being a regular for eyelash extensions at Robin Erb is sort of like dating a really, really good-looking but complete douchebag. Ladies, Let me explain. At first, they make you really feel beautiful. You receive a ton of positive feedback and you're obsessed. Naturally, you go for the two week fill-in, and decide it'll be a summer fling. After a while though, they start draining your wallet, and make you feel super insecure without them. You know you inevitably need to break up, and that the relationship isn't healthy and can't last, but for whatever reason you keep going back, spending more money, and making excuses why you need them past Labor Day. Once it finally ends, you look at yourself in the mirror, and feel really ugly. You try to rebound quickly with Sephora, but it isn't the same, and you'll miss Robin Erb. Luckily, time goes by, and you eventually accept your natural lashes once again, and eventually feel pretty without your extensions. You go back to your drugstore mascara, and your real-life relationship will thank you for it. P.s- it is true. Robin is really, really pushy and does not accept "no" for an answer. She does do lovely lashes and this is a lovely salon, but take this as a cautionary tale. read more

I bought a groupon to get my lashes done, and I went in three days before my wedding. The experience was pretty relaxing- I almost fell asleep on the table! I think it took about an hour, but the appointment started about 20 minutes late. The lashes looked great- beautiful, but not so long that they were obviously fake. They look amazing in the photos from my wedding. However, I ended up getting them removed about a week and a half later because some of them started falling out and they were getting really annoying when I was wearing my glasses (normally I wear contacts) or sunglasses. I loved the way they looked, and they were definitely worth it for the wedding (especially with the groupon price). However, it's too much maintenance and cost for me to deal with on a regular basis. For that price, I would rather just use Latisse and grow my own lashes, so I don't have to worry about getting them wet! read more

I doubt that Robin is properly trained to do eyelashes, and her main priority is only money. She does not care about her clients or prioritize their health and wellbeing. In addition, she asked me to come to my appointment 15 minutes earlier but ended up having me wait until 30 minutes after the original start time, so I waited 45 minutes for her. During this wait time, I overheard a conversation between her and the client before me where she was pushing the client to do more botox, against the client's wishes. This conversation alone made me very uncomfortable and I should have just left then. She takes about 30-40 minutes to do a full set when the industry standard is an hour and a half to two hours. In this case, speed is most definitely not a positive attribute. Her rush through the process left me with both eyes glued shut, which has not happened to me before. Upon later inspection of my lashes, the isolation that she did is so poor that many of my natural lashes are glued to one lash extension and many of the extensions are stuck together. With proper application, each natural lash should have one extension attached. The poor isolation means I cannot wear makeup or brush through my lashes after application. I've been getting my lashes done for nearly a year, and have never had a lash tech tell me that I shouldn't brush through my lashes, but Robin did. She also told me I could not take hot/steamy showers after application as the "lashes will fall off in clumps". This is 100% not okay, and not how eyelash extensions usually work. This makes me very concerned about the type of glue she may be using, as I have never had this experience anywhere else. After my lash extension was complete, she was very pushy about asking for a tip and extremely dismissive of the concerns that I presented after looking at my lashes. She pushed very hard for me to book a fill as soon as possible. I will not be booking a fill with her, nor will I ever be returning. Robin should look into completing a certification class, as she does not know how to properly apply extensions. read more

Only one word can describe Robin....AMAZING!!! I found her by chance, and am now a "lifer". I went for lashes but mentioned how dry my skin had been with the harsh winter weather in Boston. She gave me a few samples of some of her skin care line....OMG!! I immediately bought all products on my next visit. My skin has never been happier and glowed so much. My eyelashes and eyebrows are amazing as well! I cannot say enough how happy I am to have found Robin, her amazing services and products!! read more

Robin became very belligerent when I, a potential first-time customer, asked for her license. She also told me to pay her directly in cash and when I told her I was uncomfortable with this before having gone to my appointment she called me 'crazy' and 'argumentative'. SKETCH CITY read more

I initially bought a Groupon for eyelash extensions at Robin Erb and continued to get 3 refills with them. Pros- Nova was very pleasant to work with. She was kind and gave great advice on how to take care of my lashes. The place has a unique look to it and seems clean. Located right off Newbury st. Cons- They will charge you half the price of your appointment if you cancel within 24 hours, even if you have an emergency. Robin is the owner and although I never had her, she is the reason I don't plan on going back to this place. While getting my lashes done, Robin and Nova would have conversations (which I don't really mind). Except when Robin would talk about her dating life and the conversations she's having on tinder. It made me feel extremely uncomfortable when she started talking about trans-gendered people and how it was disgusting. Another time I had a cough and her response to me was "Are you sick? Ew..." I'd like to emphasize that Nova did a great job on my lashes and I enjoyed going to her. But I cannot continue to pay money to an owner (Robin) that disgust me. She is rude and has no manners on how to speak to people. read more

I bought a Groupon for a spray tan here. I was excited to try a new place for a reasonable price. They seemed to have good reviews, so I went for it. The appointment immediately started off badly as they were running behind. Not a huge deal, it happens, but it seemed they double-booked appointments as the girl I was waiting with (also for a spray tan) was booked at the same time as me. All in all, my appointment started close to 30 minutes after it was scheduled. While waiting, I also witnessed an exchange between the receptionist, the owner, and what appeared to be a friend of the owner. The friend arrived to grab a quick coffee with the owner- no big deal, sounds nice. The receptionist reminded her she had an appointment arriving any minute. The owner's response was "well too bad she will just have to wait then. Stall for me when she gets here." Not a great impression on customer service- especially coming from the owner. I should have known that the appointment would not be up to par with other salons in the area when the technician did not even ask me what look I was going for. She did not ask if I had a shade preference and gave me a hard time when their cheap foot coverings would not stick to my feet- this wound up being an issue due to how filthy the floor and tanning area was. The salon is small, but uniquely decorated and appeared clean. However, when stepping in to the spray tanning area, which is a tiny pop up booth shoved in a corner behind a curtain, I realized how disgusting the area was. I have received MANY spray tans before and it is not uncommon for the technician to advise you not step on the floor without foot coverings. However, this floor was covered in a thick, sticky layer of spray tan residue. It was so bad, that while I was drying (aka being asked to stand in front of a rotating fan- most places will use the air from the spray machine to dry you), the technician was actually swiffering the floor because even she could not walk around. They clearly do not regularly clean during appointments- the stuff was everywhere. The tanning booth itself is so tiny that unless you are a very small person, you will not be able to move easily, or at all, into the various positions the technician asks you to. The technician will also tell you to be careful not to actually touch the booth itself, which is next to impossible in the confined space. All in all, with that unprofessional and unclean experience, I still hoped for the best. Sadly, my tan was insanely dark... Donald Trump on his worst day dark. My face was the darkest of all, which was ironic- most places pay special attention to that area knowing how the face absorbs color and they take special care to avoid that issue. My feet also came out horribly dark due to the floor being so slippery and absolutely covered in tanning solution- you could barely walk or move without sliding. Showering helped a bit with the color, but not much unfortunately. Needless to say, after the appointment starting very late, the room itself being filthy with tanning solution, the technician not asking, or even caring, to know the client's expectations, and the undesirable results, I would never return and would not recommend this place to anyone for a spray tan. It is clear the salon added it as a service in an attempt to bring in new revenue, but spent no time or money to actually make it a nice, or even worthwhile, experience for the client. My only positive is that I paid a Groupon price and not full. read more

I got the lash and brow groupon awhile ago and finally went for my appointment last week. You can book your appointment online, which is very convenient. However, beware that Robin books up very quickly! I booked mine about 3 weeks out. First off, Robin is a very sweet person. She was fun and easy to talk to. Robin works very efficiently. She was done with my lashes and brows in about 50 min. Places where I've gone before would take more like 1.5 hours. I LOVE my lashes! It makes my eyes look bigger and totally brighens up my face. Robin's has some very restrictive rules for her lashes. She even wants you to wear goggles when showering. Other places I've been to was not nearly as restrictive. I didn't follow the goggles rule but did get face wipes to wash my face. I was also very careful in the shower to not wet my face at all. However, the lashes started coming out after a few days. I think she did a better job on my left than my right eye as well. The left ones have so far stayed mostly in tact but the right one is not doing well at all. I'm disappointed that the lashes are falling out so soon. Given the price she charges, I would have expected longer lasting results. I've been to a place half her regular price and it lasted for 3 weeks before anything fell out. Even though she is a sweet person, it's very difficult to recommend this place due to the disappointing results and high prices. read more

I have had my eyelashes done before, but was looking for something closer to my 'hood and was really hoping that Robin Erb was going to be the one. The first time I visited, I got a lash lift and tint. I have asian lashes, and I know they're not amazing (but I don't think they're bad). Robin spent half the time telling me that I barely have eyelashes and she didn't even know if the lash lift would take due to how short my lashes were. Why would you even proceed to do it on me if you felt that way? The lift was fine, but when it came to the tint it burned a little. I liked that I didn't have to use an eyelash curler anymore, so I thought it was fine. I could have done without being told my eyelashes were awful though. After a lift and tint, I wanted to try extensions again because I felt like I was lacking the drama extensions provided. Again, Robin commented on how I didn't have lashes and she didn't know if i could get extensions (I have been told the exact opposite at 2 other places in Boston). When I walked out, CLUMPS of extensions were glued to HALF my eyelashes. The other half she left untouched. When it came to my inner corners, she literally glued them on my eyelid and everytime I blinked, I could feel something there - not supposed to happen with extensions. I had to get them redone a week later because they were just clumping and forcing some of my lashes to fall off. Extensions are made to be glued one at a time to your real eyelashes, I will not be returning because I do not want a bald eyelid. FAIR WARNING - Use caution if you have thinner eyelashes, Robin can't seem to know what to do with them? read more

I had a Groupon for a brow shaping/waxing session and was SO excited to try Robin. Online, she touts herself as a brow expert, shaping your brows to be the most flattering for your face. Sounds perfect, since I'm no brow expert. Let's leave it to the pros. When I walked in, I was called out to by Robin from the room she was with another customer, and told to have a seat and get comfortable. I ended up waiting about 25 minutes...so my 7:30 p.m. appointment didn't get started till nearly 8 p.m., after listening to Robin and her previous customer chitter-chatter about life, clear as day (no privacy). The first thing Robin says when she sees me is "I turn away 90% of the people who come here for brows" because apparently she refuses to work with what you have, and wants you to grow completely unkempt eyebrows before she can begin her work. Unorthodox, ok, but obviously my brows were unkempt since that's why I was there to begin with. I barely passed the test of unkempt-ness, but did, so then she proceeded. The entire time it felt like Robin plucked about 6 hairs, all the while saying she was the only person in the area who was capable of doing brows, going so far as to say she does not trust her junior staff to do brows and "half of Hollywood" has completely wrong, messed up eyebrows. Ok, eccentric, but the true test lies in how I looked. She gave me the mirror and my first thought was "I can't tell a difference." Yes, a few strays were cleaned up, but the entire process was 3 minutes long and I looked at her questioningly. She said she'd see me in 3 months when my brows had grown back fully. The kicker, (and I quote verbatim) "Do not pluck ONE SINGLE HAIR or else this has all been messed up, I will know, and I will not work with you." So at this point, still confused, I asked if this even counted as a session, seeing as how she had barely touched my brows or if the real session would be in 3 months. That question was answered real fast when she took my Groupon AND cash tip, and spent the next 4 minutes giving THE MOST pushy sales pitch I've ever heard for a brazillian wax, going so far as slight vulgarity. Needless to say, I was not impressed with the experience, the salon, the personality OR the "work" done on my brows. Luckily I saved a few bucks with the Groupon...if I had paid full price I would have been beyond disappointed. read more

I was half an hour late for the appointment, because of no parking. Its nice that they still took me. But that's not an excuse for doing a bad job on my eye lashes. Eyelash extension is supposed to be done by glueing the fake lashes on my natural lashes one by one. They should be one by one, each on one of my real lashes. However, she just glued the lashes randomly, some on my own lashes ( they are all stuck together), a lot of them were glued on my eyelid, which really hurts and burns. All the lashes with the glue were so hard and were poking my eyelids, which makes it worse. If there were not enough time, they could just gave a half set, but they still need to remove my leftover lashes first and do a good job with the half set. This was literally the worst lash extension ever. I went to another place to removed all of them, didn't even trust them to remove them. read more

Went for eyelash extensions. Nice office very clean. When I arrived I has booked an eyebrow consult with robin and a lash extension. Apparently they didn't put me down for an eyebrow consult - but I called to verify week before. So I got my eyelashes done by someone from her staff. I was hesitant at first because I never once read her name in any reviews and she was the only one in the shop. (My first thought was its a side job) My eyelashes looked great the first day, but the extensions were glued in clumps and most to my skin! I could tell right after. But what could I possibly do she used medical grade glue. So it was painful the first few days. As my eyelashes grew out they twisted because some eyelashes were glued properly, and some still glued to my skin. So most of my eye lashes have been ripped out and are hanging on the the extensions glued to my skin. Now it's super irritated and painful. And embarrassing! It's obvious I had a bad lash extension done. HUGE REGRET wish I would have never done it read more

Good, not great. Got a groupon for eyelashes for my wedding here, which was nice, but I should have spent the extra money and gone to my usual place on Boylston, but you don't know what you've got til its gone. First off, I requested Allie, got someone else, a new girl. She was really nice, but the general atmosphere of the salon was pretty unprofessional. The owner was barking orders at the receptionist, and they were all changing the music and joking pretty loudly-not relaxing at all. The eyelashes were alright. Not super natural looking, but I asked for more volume for the wedding. The glue was very irritating to my eyes, and continues to be on occasion. I had never encountered that before, the other lash place I've gone to isn't like that. Also, they said that I needed to have the lashes removed professionally, which I believe, but didn't encounter at my regular place. Basically, If you want lashes, these look nice and last quite a while, but if you want a nice experience maybe look elsewhere, read more

I'm surprised at the negative reviews because I had a phenomenal experience with Robin! I had a lash and eyebrow appointment through Groupon. I have trichotillomania (I pull out my eyelashes) so I wasn't sure what Robin could do for me and I was feeling pretty self-conscious and anxious. I'm thrilled to say that Robin was friendly, professional, and empathetic. She was familiar with trichotillomania and had great suggestions for helping me deal with my spotty lashes. She worked very hard to fill in the spaces I had and my eyes look amazing! So exotic and dramatic -- I've never felt so excited about my lashes. The eyebrow wax was quick and painless, and again, made me feel and look amazing. I'm a total convert -- thanks, Robin! read more

I got my first lash extensions done here. I've gotten them elsewhere so I have something to compare to. Allie was nice and quick with my lashes (70 mins). However, the way she placed the tape pads made my eyes very uncomfortable and painful. The glue ended up being clumpy and bothered my eyes for a few days; and I could still feel them until they were removed to get my next set at another lash place. I asked for the most natural looking lashes. She did a great job on one eye but the other eye -- the glue was placed clumpy with multiple lashes clumped together, the lashes kept flipping upside down and looking terrible and obviously fake, and I lost chunks of lashes on one side before the other. They looked Ok the first few days but were uncomfortable. The lashes became uneven after a week or so. read more

I bought a Groupon for the airbrush spray tan. Very cute spot with an antique French vibe. The service provider was very professional but they did not provide barrier cream or a hair net for protection. I got a blowout earlier that day for an event the next day and it was all sticky by the end of the service so that was a bummer. The tan was okay. Most washed off with the first shower (12 hours later) even with carryover of their spray tanning techniques. read more

1 good thing: the soy wax did last for a solid month. But that was where the positive ended. I showed up on time and still had to wait 15 minutes for my appointment to start. My waxer left in the middle of my appointment (brazilian wax) to go move her car because the lot where she parked was going to close, and sent some other girl in to continue my wax in the mean time. Then she missed the ENTIRE back part of the wax, so after I went to the ATM to get cash for a tip (because they only take cash tips), I had to have someone do a touch-up. Also, people aren't kidding when they say this place has no walls, only curtains. You can hear EVERYTHING. Awkward. Wouldn't go back. Nope. But hey! how about that soy wax! read more

They let me buy the Groupon deal directly from them so I got a full set of lash extensions for 99$! Nova was amazing and even discussed my options before proceeding. She suggested I do the lash tint/lift or the extensions because my lashes are pretty decent. Given I am getting married in a month I chose for the more dramatic extensions! Def would recommend! Your eyes will sting during but nothing too severe and it took about an hour and a half. read more

I first saw Robin for a Brazilian almost a year ago after buying a Buy With Me voucher. It's obviously a big deal when I say that I've gone regularly since then (because, ow! who goes regularly to get their hair ripped off?). Finding someone with whom to entrust one's lady business is no easy feat, and Robin's casual attitude put me at ease. I'm not sure I can attest to whether the soy wax "hurts less", but it most certainly washes off easier. Another important Robin-perk is her accessibility - on multiple occasions I've texted her last minute & she always comes through! read more

BEST LASHES!! I have been getting my eyelash extenstions from Robin for about 3 years. I bought her living social 3 years ago and just haven't stopped going. I came here for a Brazilian wax with a groupon. The girl who did the wax was friendly and made me feel comfortable so the procedure was quick and easy. The only thing that stopped me from giving it 5 full stars was that the facility smelled of very, very, very strong perfume. I could not breathe, it was overwhelming. I usually wear just two spritzes of perfume and this was just too much, you could not escape it. It smelled like a really strong soap. read more

After spending a good amount of time doing research on eyelash extensionists in Boston, I realized that it is incredibly difficult to find a nice salon at an affordable price. Then I stumbled upon a BuyWithMe coupon for Robins! It was the best lunch break I had ever taken! After having a bad experience at one of the other extensionists down the street, I came to Robin asking her to salvage what was left of my eyelashes. She warned me immediately that if anything were to start bothering me this time around, to not mess with them, and to call her straight away so she can fix them. This was not said to me at the other place where it felt more like I came in the door and then I was bustled out asap so they could take the next customer. The way Robin greeted me off the bat and how she took her time with me assured me that she is 100% accountable for her work. Also, I found Robin to be very personable, making the whole experience wayyy more enjoyable. After learning that she also does bridal make up, we made plans to get my cousin, who is to be married in July, in her studio for a trial application. While waiting for my eyelashes to dry, Robin asked if I could open my eyes quickly to see if I was happy with the result. After taking a quick peek, I asked her if she would be able to apply several longer ones to get an even bigger effect. The salon down the street never asked me if I was satisfied with the result until it was too late and all the lashes had been placed. Although her next appointment had already arrived, it was clear that Robin wants every client to leave happy and will allocate the appropriate amount of time to each. Also, while I was waiting for the adhesive to dry enough for me to sneak a peek at the mirror, Robin insisted that she help shape and cleanup my brows. This was so great! PS - to the girl who said there are certain ways to deliver any kind of message, relax!! and learn to take a joke!! I'm pretty sure Robin said the same "You gotta let me fix these up!" type thing to me and I found it funny and told her to please go right ahead!! As I said this was on my lunch break from work, and given that I work at a large financial firm in the financial district, I warned Robin that I did not want to return looking like a drag queen! (my lovely roommate told me I looked like a drag queen when I got it done before, at the other place, so I was a bit nervous lol). Not only did I not come back like that, upon my return, several of my co workers asked me to forward them over the BuyWithMe coupon so that they can set up appointments as well! Robin took time to understand what I was going for and made sure that I was satisfied with the result and that's just about all I could ask for! Oh and on top of that, I made my appointment that morning, causing Robin to change around her schedule so she could squeeze me in and save my lashes! That was pretty amazing :) Be back soon! read more

I received a gift certificate for a set of lash extensions, and my cousin highly recommended Allie, so when I had a black tie wedding coming up, I decided to finally get them done, I was pretty skeptical going in -- I am a very low maintenance girl most of the time, and I would never have done this for myself, but I had the gift certificate, so off I went. A system error with the computer mixed up my appointment and scheduled me with a different lash technician. When I called to fix this, Allie was able to adjust her schedule to fit me, which I really appreciated. She obviously values her client relationship and wanted to make sure I was happy with my experience. Allie's a miracle worker. I am completely obsessed with my lashes. I haven't stopped receiving compliments on my lashes, and I can't believe the difference they've made in my daily routine. They make my eyes pop and even with my most minimal makeup, they make everything look more pulled together and polished. It's been over three weeks since I had them done so they are growing out, but I'm going back this week for a fill before vacation. I never expected to want to maintain these, but they really are worth the expense. I feel like I look more awake and alert with these, and people really do notice the difference. Allie is sweet and personable, and I thoroughly enjoyed my appointment with her - she had such a great personality. Highly recommend seeking her out! read more

I just moved to Boston and I was looking for a good place to get my eyebrows done. As a college student I have a crazy schedule between my classes, work, and internship so I knew it would be hard to find an appointment when I needed it-at night. I heard about Robin from a friend and when I checked her website to make an appointment (so convenient) I saw she was available up until 9 pm! When I arrived at the salon it was beautiful and stylish. Robin took me right away and started explaining her "brow wow". Instead of laying me down and waxing, she sat me straight up and went at my brows with tweezers. It hurt way less than I thought it would and didn't leave my eyes red. I like a strong brow, so I'm always nervous when it comes to getting them done. I was amazed when Robin held up the mirror. My brows looked sculpted and the arch was perfect, but I didn't have that pencil thin look. I would recommend Robin to anyone who is sick of having their brows waxed into two tiny lines and having to schedule appointments in the middle of a busy day. Robin is a sweetheart and I'll never go anywhere else to get my brows done again. read more

There's no other way to describe the experience and service you get as a customer at Robin Erb than amazing! I went to Robin to shape my eyebrows, and not only was she quick, but they were done perfectly. While I was getting them done she explained to me how most beauty spas don't actually do eyebrows correctly, and she was quick to point out the asymmetrical differences on my last brow job before fixing them up. To say the least, I was thrilled that she not only did my eyebrows, but she also explained how to maintain them between visits. My eyebrows were a disaster before- but Robin somehow managed to tame them; they look awesome now! I will be back! read more

[edit: WARNING!!!! My lashes, after 1 week, were stinging and itching so bad I couldn't stand it anymore and my eyes were PERMANENTLY watering. Robin did not answer ANY of my emails or calls pleading for help so I just dosed my lashes in makeup remover and ripped them out myself. It was INCREDIBLY painful, and HUGE chunks of my eyelashes came out all glued together. DO NOT COME HERE. My friend, who also used a groupon, is suffering the same fate but doesn't want to rip out her eyelashes so she's just going to suffer in silence. I regret coming here so, so much.] Oh, Robin, Robin. Writing this review almost breaks my heart, as I think personally she's a very nice lady and offered me wonderful personal advice during my entire appointment. But Yelpers must know the truth. I went in with a groupon. Now, the first time I ever got eyelash extensions was in NYC, at Wink, also with a groupon. [AMAZING, btw. see my review.] Maybe they just don't do it that well in Boston anywhere, and maybe I went in with too high expectations. But I also did online research to make sure that my following complaints were legit: -the most important problem: instead of one eyelash being glued onto one of my eyelashes individually, I have huge chunks of eyelashes/glue on both eyes stuck together. The same thing happened to my friend who went. It looks pretty awful and feels terrible too. In a few weeks, if the lashes don't fall out, the clumps will end up pulling out my REAL lashes. This is indicative of fast and uncareful work. -she finished in less than half the time it took the other company to do my lashes. Waaay less than half. -She told me I can't get my lashes wet...EVER. Whereas most places say that after 24 hours, you CAN get them wet and they won't fall off. -as I was getting my lashes done she told me about this amazing wax she has for brazilians. It was soy based, she said. I asked if she used strips to pull it off. She said no, she used "some kind of space-age technology." That's word for word what she said. Why, how incredible sounding! I was lured into asking her if I could tack one on. She said yes. Almost literally as soon as we started, her next client came in, and she went into panic mode and started going SO FAST. It was by and large the fastest brazilian I have EVER gotten...and not in a good way. It hurt SO bad. The "space age technology" she was talking about...was...REGULAR STRIPS. I felt like such an idiot for believing her. As we finished the lightning speed dealio, she said that "normally she was very thorough..." but not today because she was in a rush. Maybe it's just me...but you should never say that to a first time customer. Who wants to feel like they've been shoved aside for someone else...ESP with something like a Brazilian? Ughhhh. Also, twice, she didn't pull the strip right and it snagged and ouch ouch ouch. I totally understand trying to make money, but if you didn't have time to do one, you shouldn't say "oh we can do one today!" and then do it shoddily. -She doesn't tell people how many lashes she used. My friend had asked, and I didn't, but either way, I think it's good business to be transparent. She refused to tell my friend. At WINK in NYC, they tell you exactly how many lashes they used, and if you want more or less, the price reflects that. Here, it's just take it or leave it, which is fine, I guess, but if someone asks, why wouldn't you tell them? -when I went in for my appointment [on time], she spent like 10 minutes dealing with personal business, showing me how she discovered this new website, etc. I mean, in retrospect, I shouldn't have been worried since she did everything SO rushed, but I was so worried my meter would run out. I didn't say anything because she seemed extremely flustered but if I was in a rush to go somewhere I would've been really pissed. People. These are not what eyelash extensions could look like. the problem is all these first time people come here and they think this is the only way it's done. With huge chunks of glue. IT'S NOT. THERE IS A BETTER WAY!! Also, I'm a little miffed because I went in telling her how much I loved my lashes the last time they got done, and she asked how much they charged ($110) and she laughed dismissively and said her materials were soooo much more expensive and how that place probably sucked. Well, that "sucky" place had 110% more meticulous work, and a glue that could withstand water. Unfortunately I have yet to find a great, inexpensive place in Boston. I might have to deal with the bus ride and Yankee fans and go back to NYC next time for my next lash appointment. read more

I used Robin's services after purchasing a Buy With Me voucher for an eyebrow and brazilian wax with her last fall. Not a good experience. Although her salon is tastefully decorated and she was very friendly, I left there with with no intention of ever using her services again. Immediately upon starting the appointment she started in on how horrible my eyebrows were and whoever had waxed them previously had done a lot of damage. Now I know my eyebrows are not great after years of overplucking and difficulty with growing them in, but there is a way of saying things and there is a way to not say things. Then came the Brazilian. There was not a full disposable covering on her waxing bed- just a very small piece that barely covered my butt which did not get point in the sanitary column. The waxing itself was very painful- more than the average Brazilian- and by the time I got home I was very red and literally bleeding which has never happened to me before. Also- midway through the waxing- someone rang the doorbell to her salon- she left the room midwax, left the door OPEN, and had about a five minute conversation with someone while I laid there, fully exposed, and very unhappy. Never again. read more

Oh how I hate to write this comment, but since I rely on Yelp reviews so much and I know other people do as well, I have to. I went to Robin 3 weeks ago with a GroupOn. The day after getting my extensions, one eye was extremely irritated, watering and completely red. I called Robin and asked her to remove my lashes. She said she really didn't want to remove them as they "looked so good" but to come in and she'd look to see what the problem was. When I got there that night, I rang the bell 5 times and finally called her - she was having dinner and would be there shortly, so I waited on the steps. I was a little annoyed, but she stayed late to see me, so it was no big deal. She ended up taking two of the lashes out (plucking with tweezers) and it seemed to have fixed the problem. Great ... so I thought. I wanted to get a second opinion so I went to see someone else who my hairdresser said is the best in Boston. She said that there was so much glue on there that she didn't even know how she would get them off at that point, which is probably why she didn't want to take them off. Two and a half weeks later most of the lashes were still on although some were starting to fall off and dangling which looked very awkward. I went to yet another salon to have them removed and a new set put on. Normally it only take 20 minutes to remove lashes ... these took an hour and 15 minutes to remove as there was so much glue (two and a half weeks later)! This lady also told me that they were put on incorrectly and that she had a few other girls come in asking for theirs to be removed as well. She said I was lucky that I didn't lose too many of my own lashes from the improper application, but other girls hadn't been so lucky. Long story short, I paid for the real deal this time and couldn't be happier with the results. I wish I didn't have to go through what I did the first time with Robin, but it was a learning experience I guess. And I now know what extensions are supposed to look and feel like. Oh yeah, it also took this lady more than twice the time to apply them (2 hours as opposed to Robin's 45 minutes). read more

I went to Robin after buying a Groupon-like deal. That's how I found out that it pays to invest in brazilian waxes... First of all, I had an appointment with Robin-but I ended up waiting about 15 minutes past my appointment time anyway. Seemed like she just took people as they came and didn't heed appointments at all. I agree with past reviewers who made note of her waxing room and it's general lack of appropriate sanitary measures. Not much on the table itself. No baby wipe or anything offered for you to clean up-before or after. The wax itself- this was my first EVER brazilian, which I told Robin. All she kept hounding me about was why I hadn't used my deal earlier (I used it in the last week it was valid because I had forgotten about it). The wax was incredibly painful, and Robin didn't seem to be paying attention. When I expressed concern over it, she told me I could go home and put an ice bag on the area. I've since been to a much better salon for waxes, and ice should NOT be necessary after a brazilian. My entire....lady area was red and inflamed. Literally inflamed-I happened to have an appointment with my gyno the next day and there was still enough inflammation for her to notice. Of course, as anyone who goes here can attest, Robin will try to talk you into re-booking three appointments with her. Only if you commit to all three do you get a discount. Needless to say, I did not go back. Robin herself was friendly but not my idea of a professional. Maybe I'm expecting too much here...but I expect salon professionals (especially the owner) to be timely, pay attention to me (instead of chatting with her receptionist) and not bombard me with her cleavage. She also made some off-the-cuff comment about how I could thank her with a tip. That's tacky, and also, it is not customary to tip the owner of a salon/spa and everyone knows this. What I've learned is that, with Brazilian waxes, you do indeed get what you paid for. Choose wisely ladies! read more

I'm not even sure where to begin. I'm writing this so that you don't make the same mistake I, and others did too. I purchased an eyelash extension with Robin on buy-with-me. I was very excited by the deal. Well, you get what you pay for. After I purchased the coupon, I read less than favorable reviews about Robin and her salon but I made the mistake of ignoring them. When I arrived at Robin's salon, practically the first thing she asked me was if I minded if she ate her subway sandwich in front of me. "Kind of, yeah." That should have been my first tip to run away. But I didn't, I stayed. I expressed concern over the treatment and asked her some questions about the process. She seemed annoyed more than anything else. Nevertheless, I allowed her to clump glue and lashes on me and clump and glue she did. After she was finished she asked if she could do my brows. I said "no thank you" that I prefer to do them myself. She responded with a very rude "Wow!" Sorry, Robin, you already screwed up my eyelashes, I would like to keep my brows at least. Since visiting Robin several days ago, my right eye started twitching. I called her to see if she would take the lashes off, as she promised she would do if I did not like them. Suddenly, Robin was "very booked" and would have to squeeze me in. When I said, that was fine, she then claimed not to have any of the solution to take them off. Really professional--way to go "out of your way" to make clients satisfied. I went to see someone who does eyelash extensions and does not offer buy-with-me and groupons to build clientele. When I told her I went to "Robin Erb" she said, (and I quote) "that's so strange, two other women came here with the same problem and they had gone to Robin too." She looked at my lashes and confirmed they were incorrectly applied. Robin had glued several of my lashes together--instead of applying them individually and also used too much glue. They were clumpy and crisscrossed. Do yourself a favor. If you have a buy-with-me coupon or a groupon to see Robin, tear it up. You'll be crying if you don't....and it's not fun to cry with crisscrossed mangled eyelashes. read more

The treatment I received from this place (not the front desk, they were very pleasant!) was so horrendous that it is prompting my first-ever yelp review! Don't go here unless you want to pay buckets of money to get treated like crap. Robin is by far the least professional esthetician I have ever encountered -- a delightful combination of rude and self righteous. Within seconds of entering the room she told me I had horrible eyebrows and that she is the only person in the greater Boston area who knows how to properly shape an eyebrow. I tried at first to chalk this up to a loud personality; however, as the session went on, things only got worse. In the middle of plucking my eyebrows (all the while telling me they were horrible) her assistant came in to ask if she had time to fit in another appointment. At this point, she stops plucking my eyebrows to chide the assistant for telling another customer she had time and complaining about how she needs to eat. She then left the room to talk to the other customer for 10 minutes. Normally, this wouldn't be much of an issue, except that I had been very clear that I needed to get out of there as soon as possible to make it to a meeting. After barely plucking my eyebrows, she then said I was done. As far as I can tell, I was about to pay $30 for her to pluck a few stray eyebrows that I could have done on my own. I was slightly irked and in a rush so I began to pack up my things. Instead of understanding that I was in a rush, Robin proceeded to berate me and tell me that I didn't understand eyebrows (not true - if she wanted me to grow them out, she should have said that from the beginning as opposed to extorting me for a sham session). As I walked out the door, she yelled to the front desk that I shouldn't even pay and I then heard her telling her next client that I was merely incapable of understanding how eyebrows work. I'm sorry, Robin, that I wasn't planning on spending $30 for 5 minutes of being insulted and condescended. For the record, I paid her $30 out of principle, but I absolutely did not tip her. read more

This time I decided to try out Robin's pumpkin peel. She made me feel very comfortable and walked me through the entire process. First she took off tons of dead skin on my face, and then used the pumpkin peel. It felt great and made my skin feel fresh and soft. Afterwards she offered to shape my eyebrows, which I readily accepted since she does such a great job. Without a doubt I'm going to keep going back to Robin read more
