The girl did not use a stencil, she did not measure, she didn't put the normal dots on my face where they should start by the bridge of my nose where the arch should be or the end. She just started waxing. I asked if she was going to do any of that and she said no. My eyebrows are crooked. I asked for light brown tint and I got black. I said. That looks black. She said no. I have gotten eyelash extensions and a few lash lift and tints at Maxi! I have seen both Kate and Amy. They are very gentle and accommodating. The entrance is hidden and they are currently doing construction on the building that Maxi is located in so do not be alarmed. It's so cute inside, always clean and the beds are comfortable, I fall asleep every time I'm there. I am unfortunately allergic to eyelash adhesive so I can no longer get eyelash extensions. When I was fighting the allergic reactions, Maxi was always sure to follow up with me to see how I was doing, giving suggestions on how to deal with the reactions. Kate always offered to have me come back in for eyelash removal but I wanted so badly to keep them. After the third reaction, Kate ultimately told me it is probably not a great idea for me to continue with eyelash extensions so I moved on to lash lift/tint! I have had lash lifts elsewhere in the past and they were too curly which made them look short. I told Amy this before my first Lash lift at Maxi and she exceeded my expectations, I have gone to her three times now and they always come out great. Also, using castor oil a few weeks before the appointment helps your lashes grow longer and stronger! read more

I had a lip blush appointment with Corina and oh my god, my lips have never looked better. I used to have asymmetrical lower lips and darker colored upper lips. I never went out without lipstick. She fixed all that and now I can go outside my apartment without worrying if I had lipstick in my bag. I have attached a picture that was right after the lip blushing so it looks darker red and pictures of my lips now without lipstick on them. I got a classic full set this past April 2nd. Over the next couple days, some of my extensions fell out each day which wasn't supposed to happen so quickly. Maxilash "fixed" my lashes for free this past April 15th. Both times, the technician Moon hurt my eyes and when I said "ow," she kept saying "shh it's okay" instead of apologizing. I got my lashes done twice at another place afterwards and both times, it didn't hurt. After my "fix" at Maxilash, my extensions looked shorter than the first time Maxilash did my extensions. Music that was too relaxing played the entire time. I get that they were trying to create a relaxing atmosphere but it made me fall asleep a couple times. When Moon was telling me how to take care of my lashes, the way she was explaining it to me made me feel like she thought I didn't understand what she was saying. read more

Entrance is a little hidden - you walk up the stairs and walk along this little alley next to a Thai restaurant. Don't go into the building labeled "Babcock tower 270" because that's residential (despite their address being 270 Babcock). Overall not happy with my results. I came here for lash lift & tint with Amy, and and here is what I'm not happy with: 1) while you can definitely tell that my lashes have been lifted, I don't think they did a good job because it doesn't look neat. There's a gap in the middle of my right eyelashes because some lashes weren't lifted the same as the others so the surrounding lashes are higher than this gap (see photo) 2) I do not notice the tint at all. You can see from my photos that it's only slightly darker than my bottom lashes, but that is what it looked like before the tint (top is always darker since my bottom lashes are very thin) 3) when I told the stylist about how there's a chunk that wasn't lifted the same as surrounding area plus don't really notice the tint, she kinda just sat there in silence - perhaps it's the language barrier but very awkward. I guess maybe there's not much she could have done about it at that point since she already messed it up She also left some piece of film on the inner part of my eyelid which you can see in the photo - the least of my concerns at this point. I just feel like I wasted my money. I was gonna try a different boutique today but decided to give MaxiLash a shot because I really liked the one picture they have on here of their client who got the lift & tint but I feel a little tricked. Mine looked nothing like that, perhaps due to lack of experience by the stylist. I wouldn't come back here. Gave them 3 stars because everything else was fine (appointment time, cleanliness, etc). I was going on vacation so i thought i would get my lashes done. They had great service and was very nice however my lashes looked really bad. I got wispy hybrid it was $210. They were way too full it looked like a volume set which I hated. They were very long and super heavy it was coming down at the ends of my eyes. I had eyelashes done with Amy and it was a great experience! Reminded me of nice Japanese/Korean eyelash salons. Don't be fooled by the janky looking exterior.. it's part of an old building in the BU area. Inside it's very cute and clean though. The beds are very comfortable and soft, and they change out the sheet between customers. Amy was very gentle and professional. She was so gentle that I fell asleep! Definitely pricier than other lash places but definitely worth it for the quality. Updating my review: it's been one week and my lashes look just as good as when I got them! None have fallen out! This review is just a word of caution about lash extensions. I read a lot of cautions before I got mine, however, and I still did it, but now I'm really regretting it. I had an appointment for a 2D set with Kate. And I think she's wonderful! She's super kind and she did exactly what I wanted. However, while it was happening, I felt a slight burning. Before the appointment, she said it might feel like cutting an onion. That's what it felt like, so I thought it was normal and didn't say anything. When I opened my eyes, she seemed surprised at how red they were and said, "why didn't you tell me?" But she said it happens and it'd be fine. As for my lashes, they looked perfect! But the next day I woke up with REALLY red eyes, just on my bottom half. I went to the eye doctor and they said I had chemical pink eye, which is basically a chemical burn on your eye. Luckily, it went away, but for two days, I could not wear contacts or leave the house. After that, I thought my lashes were great! They looked gorgeous, but they fell out fast. While they told me it's normal for 1-2 to fall out a day, I was losing about 10 a day. And I was being very careful and following all the guidelines for care of them. No oil products. No makeup on them. Not even any eyeliner or shadow whatsoever. And then things got worse. On day 8, with about half the lashes gone, my eyes started to have big globs of pus. I know you're probably thinking I didn't clean them well enough, but I used the baby shampoo they told me to use, and I cleaned them thoroughly every night. I really wanted my $200 to be worth it! By the 9th day, I had two full blown eye infections--the worst of my life. It was really scary and painful. Back to the eye doctor, and they said this is really common. As your lashes grow out, there's a tiny crevice between the glue and your natural lash where bacteria can get trapped. He said I had to remove the lashes immediately and start special eye drops. Between the cost of the lashes and health care costs, I was too broke to go spend another chunk of money to remove them, and the doctor said I probably should not have any more harsh chemicals near my eye anyway, so I used coconut oil, which thankfully worked, (and there were not many lashes left anyway) but I barely have any lashes left now. Today marks two weeks since I got them done and my infection is just now clearing up. I'm hoping for no permanent damage. Of those two weeks, I only had pretty lashes that I could show in public for six days. And the total I've spent on this issue is about $400. So, I would not say the prices are worth it. If they'd have not gotten infected, I would have needed a fill before the two week mark, because they fell out fast, which, again, doesn't seem worth it price wise. So, just proceed with extra caution. And make sure the risk is worth the reward. Also make sure you have great health insurance, just in case. For me, I'll never do this again and I pray my lashes will grow back now. I feel really silly for having gone through so much just to have lashes that no one really got to ever see much of. read more

My first experience with MaxiLash left me excited but a bit disappointed. My lashes all fell out so fast, but it turns out I hadn't gotten the manual they normally give out. After sharing my experience, the girls at MaxiLash went out of their way to schedule me in again at a time that worked for me. Walking in last month they were quick to apologize again and provide a really comfortable experience. The process was warm and fuzzy (they have super soft blankets!) and the lashes looked amazing. This time I got very useful tips, like not brushing the lashes for the first 48 hours and not using oil-based makeup that have helped tremendously! She's also super delicate when applying them on (plus have you seen her lashes? On fleek) While lashes in Boston can be expensive (and MaxiLash is no exception) their Instagram is always running awesome promotions that no other lash boutique in the area can beat. LOVE this place! Everybody is knowledgeable, professional, and kind hearted. I've had my lashes done by Kate, Shawna, and Hong. They are all super gentle and I practically fall asleep in their comfy beds while they work their magic! All of these amazing ladies ask what type of style you want and do their best to accommodate. I typically go for their Classic set of lashes and it makes them look natural and full. They recently added a Hybrid set and I absolutely adore them! It's like an in between version of a Classic and Volume set. I take really good care of my lashes and the Hybrid set still looks great, going on two and a half weeks. I have really fluttery eyelids whenever someone comes near my eyes so when I first started getting my lashes done here I was worried they wouldn't come out as great, but trust your lash technician! Amy does the best lash lift in Boston, hands down. I've been to probably a dozen different lash shops over the years and no one else measures up. Amy's lifts last for well over a month with a beautiful natural looking curl and she is so gentle I find myself falling asleep on the table. The shop is cute and very clean and the tables are comfy. Even though MaxiLash is SUPER out of the way for me it is the only place I trust for a consistently excellent treatment. I have had my lashes tinted and permed here twice. During my first visit the woman did a fantastic job and I was really happy with the results. I couldn't have asked for her to do anything better. During my second visit a different employee permed and tinted my lashes. She essentially permed my lashes straight. Both employees were super nice and gave great customer service. That being said I would have liked if my lashes were permed so that they were actually curled. I basically damaged my lashes by chemically treating them for nothing. read more

Upon arriving to Maxi lash I was warmly greeted and the girl at the front desk was super nice. Cameron ended up taking me back early and while I could tell she knew what she was doing, I felt as though she was possibly having a bad day. Besides the constant deep sighs, she leaned against my forehead so much that I ended up with a headache. I'm sure this was by accident! I tried to readjust my position from time to time but it was pretty uncomfortable. I also ended up getting the adhesive in my left eye. It burned like no other! When I sat up to open my eyes, my left eye was super bloodshot. I was then told I could not have my free waxing done because she does not wax and they had not planned for it, even though I had called to ask prior to my appointment. I ended up having my wax done by another technician who accidentally dropped the wax on to my hair. Again, I'm sure this was an accident but after trying unsuccessfully to get it out she sent me on my way and advised me to use baby oil at home. I tried to pull the box out with the baby oil and ended up completely waxing out a huge chunk of hair on the side of my head. Needless to say, I was not happy as I was attending my husband's fancy school ball the next evening with a bald spot. A couple more things. Cameron ask me if I wanted to make my eyelashes longer or to have more volume and I answered most likely longer. This would be great except that once I got home and really took a look at my lashes they were incredibly hard to even see! Yes, they were long but they did not show up in any pictures at all! This was beyond frustrating. Also, most of the lashes have started to fall off. I waited the 24 hours and did not use any oils or makeup on my eyes at all. I'm giving two stars because I believe the people that work at Maxi lash are kind people. I just know I had a pretty rotten experience. I tried calling Cameron yesterday and I never received a phone call back. Pretty dissatisfied with customer service at Maxi lash. I will not be back. Don't spend over $100 here. Kate is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Ive booked many appointments with her and Im always satisfied with my experience. First of all, she is soooo very comfortable to talk to, informative and detailed. What I really appreciate about her is the fact that she pays extra attention to the shape of my eyes in order to find the best flattering look. For a bit of a hooded eye girl myself, the last thing I want is my eyes to look more heavy. Instead, Kate makes them effortlessly POP and I notice I get so many compliments on them. I surely love how it makes me feel more put together even without any makeup on. The last time I got my lash extensions from her it lasted an entire eyelash cycle (about 3-4 weeks). Keep in mind, I live an active life style and it still looked kept together sweaty and all! It also beats having to apply mascara everyday or having mascara run into my eyes during heavy workouts after work. All in all, I definitely feel like I got my moneys worth and on a reasonable price too. So even after reading rave reviews for this place and seeing the great pics I was still VERY skeptical. I got my first full set and fill done with Ryann; Camryn did my most recent fill and all my experiences have been perfect. Ryann worked with me to determine the best lash length and curl to achieve my desired results. Even the eye pads they use are of a higher quality than the past places I've been to (comfy and soft not itchy). My lashes last, and I can tell that my real lashes are still in tact and not prematurely falling out (as they should be). Both Ryann and Camryn are so gentle (and the seats so comfy) that I usually fall asleep within 10 minutes. The customer service is also impeccable. From the front desk staff to the specialists! The issues started when I made my appointment on their website. I selected my service, which listed 1 price. I then selected my technician. I've never been there before so I just selected a time that worked for me, rather than a technician I really wanted to work with. After I did this, I never got a confirmation email/call, so I decided to call and make sure everything was confirmed. Here they told me that the stylist I chose did not work on the day I selected so I needed to be assigned to someone else at a completely different time. I decided to give it a try regardless of this..I should have gone with my gut and gone elsewhere. I have had my lashes done a few times with varied results. I've learned that you really have to say exactly what you want, don't go off the technicians recommendation. So I told my tech that I wanted natural looking lashes. I stressed that I didn't want any extra length and lots of volume. The service itself was fine, some instances of glue getting stuck but it happens. The issue really is how sparse my lashes still look (gaps in the lashes) and how long they are. No one would think these are natural. Overall I'm pretty disappointed and won't be returning. read more
