I paid $200+ for a full contacts exam in November 2024 to get my prescription refilled for the total 1 contacts I have worn for over 3 years already. The doctor confirmed thru the exam my prescription had not changed and gave me the prescription. She suggested I try some different contacts and gave me a sample. I tried them the next day but did not like them and went back to my original total 1's. Now in July I would like to order more of my total ones but Eyeglass World and the doctor will not sign the original prescription unless I pay an ADDITIONAL $200+ for an additional NEW EXAM even though legally the original prescription is good for a year. This is extortion forcing me to PAY for a 2nd another exam. Fraud. Calling my lawyer. Unethical. I am willing to come in for the "follow Up" visit but I refuse to be blackmailed into paying for another exam when clearly this one is good for a full year and it has only been half a year. Total Fraud. They refuse to give me my prescription I PAID FOR ORIGINALLY without paying in FULL again. Horrible Business. Do NOT Recommend. This place does not respect its patients nor puts its patients foremost. I recommend going elsewhere. My wife went in for an appointment with this place. My wife politely requested the doctor (an older Asian woman) that the glaucoma test not be done. However, the doctor forcefully declined the request and told my wife she needed the test done. My wife is an alternative health practitioner who knows about the glaucoma test. She knew she was in a low-risk profile for it and that the test itself required usage on many, many people to find one existing case. My wife had no reason to suspect this condition. She asked again to decline the test. The doctor told her that unless the test was done, she couldn't be seen. So my wife left, and it wasted our time. I had a conversation with the manager who just repeated the same BS lines over and over again of "It's a different company," "the doctor says it's necessary," and "it's the standard operating procedure." Standard operating procedure? What BS. We all know that the glaucoma test has nothing to do with getting an eyeglasses prescription (which was all we wanted). We all know that glaucoma mainly affects the elderly (which my wife is not). Not respecting patients' wishes is unethical, condescending, and rude. I hope the management of this place holds its doctors to a higher ethical line and makes needed changes. read more

Absolutely horrible, DO NOT GO HERE! I paid a lot of money for an eye exam and steeply overpriced plastic glasses, and when I first called asking what my prescription was they easily gave it to me over the phone, no hassle. Today I called again and they REFUSED to give me my own prescription information, using the excuse that it was against HIPAA laws. I have worked in three different jobs that required annual HIPAA training, and I know the law backwards and forwards. Giving patients their own medical info is NOT against HIPAA, but if they really want to claim it is them they broke the law the first time. These people only care about your money, not your rights or your health. They are all smiles when you purchase from them, but the second you walk out that door they refuse to COMPLY with the law. I'm reporting them to the BBB. Leroy will only do his best to deny you service you are entitled to and then lie about not giving it over the phone before. Come here if you want to be treated like a cash cow and then kicked to the curb like trash. I pity all their other customers who are falling for their scams like I did. And I never lie and never write one star reviews, but this level of antagonism towards customers is outrageous. Lying about the law and about what they've done before. Check out Leroy's vague and untruthful comment below, still lying while claiming to "be happy to help." And I will be very curious to see if he breaks HIPAA again by sharing details about me and my health when he's afraid that his bottom line might be threatened. I have been going to this location for over 4 years for the whole family and the experience has always been great! Doctor G. is awesome with kids and she explains things in such a way that they understand and look forward to their exam and new glasses. Danielle, the manager, is amazing. When my daughter needed her glasses the same day for school, she went out of her way to call the other location and get them ready for us to pick up later that day. On another occasion, she fixed my missing nose piece on a pair of glasses right away with no wait time. The staff at the front desk are always polite and helpful. Will continue to go back. read more

Here's how it works...., everyone makes it so simple...: First, Maria checks you in and does initial triage, prepping for the exam with Dr. D. The Doc is very nice, mild manner and was very professional. After the exam, you get your prescription, then you head out to the retail side of the store, and find a couple of pair of glasses. I couldn't make up my mind on what to buy, and that's when Olivia came to the rescue, made a few suggestions, which my wife agreed with, and that was that. I also got my sunglasses "re-lensed". RayBan wouldn't allow their lenses in their frames (weird), so Olivia recommended a different brand of lenses. I picked up my glasses today. Everything fit great, Erica offered prompt and courteous service. Lastly, thanks to everyone I didn't name, who helped everyone I did name. read more

Both my husband and I had our eyes examined by Dr.Natasha Gaukhshteyn and it was the most fun I've had seeing a doctor. She was a joy and had a marvelous sense of humor but knew when to be serious. We browsed to find the perfect pair and the price with additions like no glare was higher than the $78 for 2 pair but we knew it would be and it was still an great price. My husband needed his glasses in a hurry because his current pair got broken. The folks in the front handled everything fast and with an excellent attitude. We picked up the glasses the next day. As with any retailer, don't be seduced to a dealer based on an advertised offer such as "same day" or "two for one", etc. This gets you in the door. While same here is possible, it may not be available for certain types of scripts. Two for one doesn't include certain extras on the 2nd pair, like the anti glare strip. Would have been an extra $50. This should be common sense but felt compelled to point this out. The staff was very helpful and the process went well. I think waiting over a week for my eyeglasses to be ready, was too long at an establishment where one day service is available. The eyeglass wipes that come with each pair is the best wipe I have ever used. These do not leave streaks, and clean the lenses thoroughly. I checked with the store to get more of these, and found out they are not for retail sale. The store could not recommend a brand name that offers similar quality. They could only share with me what to look for. A product that contains "high density microfiber cloth". The search begins. Hopefully the store manager reads this and sends me a box of them. DON'T to go this one unless like you like to be treated poorly. Especially don't go around closing time. I usually get two pairs of glasses each year -- prescription progressive sunglasses and progressive clear lenses. They just lost about 250.00 in business after insurance. I had written an unnecessary review because I was having some problems seeing out of my glasses after I had the lenses remade. I still had problems seeing. I went back a third time and Eric ,the manager at the Clearwater/Dunedin store , went out of his way to help. He was very patient even after I was loud voicing my complaints. I had my eyes reexamed and got a new prescription that I could immediately see out of while driving. He even called to make sure everything was oK with my new prescription. Super Service! The lens from my prescription sunglasses came out due to a missing screw. I'm from out of town visiting here and choose Eyeglass World for help. I went ahead and made an appointment online and I'm so glad I did. The online process was easy and fast. Once I walked in the door, everyone was very welcoming. I went and got my eye exam and was in and out in to time. I didn't feel rushed but because it went so smoothly. After I got done, I went and picked out my glasses. Today I had to get new glasses as both pairs of mine were broken beyond repair. Amanda and the whole staff had me back in business in no time at all! When I was told the glasses would be ready in a few hrs I mentioned I had to work earlier, she got mine right in and within I'd say an hour I had 2 finished pairs. Granted she had to give me lens options (understandable, they are an investment) I went with the stock ones and the two pairs came to exactly $78- just like the ad says! Bought glasses on 12/12, service was fine, salespeople helpful & polite- We were told a $25. amazon gift certificate would be sent to us, due to our having bought glasses from this Eyeglass World earlier. Two (2) months has passed & still no $25. Amazon gift certificate. We have called at least 7 times. I was told by a young woman that this issue would be reconciled, I called several more times, spoke to her again & to a man who also assured me that the manager, & who is above the manager would straighten this out- still no Amazon gift certificate ! Yesterday I called the corporate office & spoke to a Teresa who said she would call the manager & get back to me- no calls have come from Teresa. Whats going on Eyeglass World? An absolutely horrendous experience. The staff has no clue how to process insurance and obtain what I co pays are. I ended up having to call my insurance on multiple occasions during my initial visit to give them information. So I got my eye exam, 2 pairs of glasses, and a year of contacts. First pair of glasses came in a week later, they were my eyeglasses but made as sunglasses. A week later, sunglasses ordered came in but no eyeglasses still. Finally, store decides to make them in house and contacts arrive. Go in to pick up glasses and contacts, they won't give me the contacts because I need to be "rechecked" and the dr had 3 patients ahead. Come back a week later to pick up contacts, and they only ordered me a 6 month supply of contacts. Clerk starts to correct everything and suddenly somebody else (I assume manager) steps in and starts getting snappy again about my insurance benefits and what I'm entitled to. At that point I'm fed up and just want to get my contact refund and take my business elsewhere to which the manager suddenly has a change of attitude and says she will correct everything. A week and a half later, I have the other two boxes. All in all, it took a month and a half, a lot of arguing, and 5 trips to get everything. This place was a sheer disappointment and I'll be looking elsewhere next year when I need new glasses/contacts. read more
