Went to Eye Care Optometry yesterday because a friend referred me & I'm very glad I did! I've seen SO many optometrists, ophthalmologists, & just healthcare providers in general. I experience a lot of unusual symptoms that don't seem to fit into a clear textbook diagnosis so it always feels like my concerns are dismissed & no one cares. I went in just to get new contacts, and everyone was incredibly friendly, calm, and kind. Being 100% transparent about pricing (which is VERY RARE.) I saw Dr. Bond Perry and she was incredibly kind & actually listened to what I had to say. I was able to get the monthly contacts I wanted despite all Optometrists trying to force their patients to all wear dailies. They ordered my contacts in the office & Dr. Perry was transparent when I had questions. It's a family owned business & it definitely shows! So thank you! read more

From the outside, it's a crisp clean looking building. Once inside it's a little hectic. Reception desk, chairs to wait along the walls and patients working with technicians on glasses in the middle. The area to take contacts out/put in is a sink next to a cluttered counter. Discussions with the staff vary in professionalism. The Dr who saw me didn't explain what contacts were being recommended and why - just told to put in a pair and try for a week. I couldn't see distance at all and felt like I was being gaslit when I asked for my new Rx in my original brand. If you have other options in eye care providers, do it. read more

I had an appointment with Dr. Bond today and ended up walking out mid-exam -- something I've never had to do in my life. I will never return and feel compelled to share this experience so others can make an informed choice. Dr. Bond was shockingly unprofessional: arrogant, confrontational, and condescending from the moment he entered the room. His attitude wasn't just cold -- it was outright disrespectful. I've seen many doctors in my 52 years across a wide range of specialties, and I've never encountered such a disturbing lack of bedside manner or basic human courtesy. The interaction was so demeaning and uncomfortable that I felt I had no choice but to leave. It was that bad. If you care about being treated with dignity, compassion, and professionalism -- qualities every patient deserves -- I strongly suggest going elsewhere. read more

My husband was trying to make an appointment because he's been having problems with his glasses. He doesn't need a new prescription as he went recently to the VA for one, but was open to getting an eye exam through his normal insurance. The man who answered the phone was so rude - my husband had him on speaker and I couldn't believe how condescending he was. I have never ever heard staff respond as this man did. This was the worst experience I've had with any medical visit in my life. All of the staff was rude, belittling, unwelcoming, and unprofessional. I don't even have words for how arrogant Dr. Bond was and how stupid he made me feel. They were also pushing services on me that I didn't want or need and the whole interaction was just beyond uncomfortable. read more

i called eyecare optometry associates p.c today to follow up my frame. One of associates answered name ( Eric). i told him, i just want to follow up my frame. its been 2 weeks ago now. i expalined that he ordered a new frame bec. when he replaced my new lense got scratches and cracks. he said i need to be there and explain it again on what happened 2 weeks ago,so i went there . the front desk lady was rude . i was upset .. she start to screamed and did want me to explain. I told her, im not going to watse my time to come over here if i know my frame is not ready to pick up but Eric told me to come here. She screamed...... then eric said i did not talk to him.. (liar)... i don think i gonna come back in this eye clinic anymore.... not good experience at all....:( read more

I walked in first thing I noticed after saying hi, both receptionist had a very nasty attitude. I booked 2 appt and was told only 1 was made, older woman tried to argue with me. She is very unprofessional, should be fired. As a business owner if you know for a fact individuals on your staff are a problem those are the ones you get rid of. The doctor said nothing as he looked on and walked to the back office. My advice to anyone is go somewhere else!!! read more

Eye Care Optometry took over my previous Optometrist's practice. They are absolutely the worst optometrists! I went there to get anti-glare glasses made for night driving. I already had the prescription from my eye surgeon so they did not have to perform any exams. They just had to order the glasses. I was stunned at the appearance of the staff. They appeared totally unprofessional. I did order the glasses which came right before Christmas. First, there was a mix up in which of their locations had the glasses so I ended up going to both. Second, I got the glasses and wore them to drive at night and they were useless. They did not prevent any glare! I phoned the office and it was explained that all sales were final and they would do nothing to fix them or make me a satisfied customer! What product do consumers purchase that comes with absolutely NO Guarantee?! This business is horrible. I'm stuck with glasses that don't work and will need to purchase other glasses from another optometrist. What a waste of my money!!! read more

My glasses broke yesterday morning. It was Sunday, and almost all optometrists' offices were closed. It was also New Years Eve. I was in Richmond visiting my parents when it happened, but I could find a single optometrist open there, so my dad helped me superglue my glasses and I drove all the home to Virginia Beach to Eyecare Optometry Associates. Fortunately, they were able to get me in fairly quickly. I am very nearsighted, and optometrists don't keep lenses in my prescription on hand. Dr. Bond and his staff recognized right off the bat that this would be the case and found an inexpensive frame to fit my existing lenses while I was having my eyes examined. I always feel foolish reading an eye chart during an eye exam. It's all a blur to me, and past the third line or so I'm mostly just guessing. I've always felt like most optometrists are satisfied when they feel like the correction is "good enough", but Dr. Bond really pushed me to try my best. Hopefully that's reflected in the final result. Either way, I really appreciated that he didn't seem to be reading off of a script. And if you're like me and hate having your pupils dilated, you're in luck. Dr. Bond is "new school", and uses a special machine to scan your retina that doesn't need your pupils to be dilated. He even emailed me the pictures. There was another gentleman working that day as well. I didn't catch his name, but he seemed to be doing many jobs. He checked me in, found the frames that fit my existing lenses, advised me on what kind of glasses I should look for, and measured my pupillary distance. After all was said and done, Eyecare Optometry Associates turned what could have been a really bad situation for me into a positive experience. I ended up paying a very fair price for two frames, a new pair of polycarbonate lenses and the eye exam. Seeing as they had basically no competition on New Years Eve, they could charged me full for everything, but Dr. Bond and his associate both spent time trying to find a way to get my costs down, and they succeeded. I will definitely be coming back to these guys in the future, and I will be recommending them to friends and family. read more

I was tested for contact lenses. My issue is that the cost I was told verbally by the receptionist when making the appointment was much less than the actual. I was charged an additional $38.00 for photography, which the doctor went ahead and did without explaining it was option, or subject to an additional charge, which is unacceptable. read more

They are super friendly and fun! The office is aesthetically pleasing! Dr. Bond has been my optometrist for years! They also have a lab in their office so usually you can pick up your glasses the same day! I would definitely 100% recommend them to anyone! :) read more

My husband and I have gone there for three check ups and won't be back. It was a series of issues that botherd us and we have decided to spend our money elsewhere. Dr. Bond's condescending attitude towards people and when he realized we had great insurance the up selling and pushy attitude was just too much. The prices are quite expensive and when they tack on all the "extra" fees even with great insurance it was quite high. We would rather go to a doctor with a better attitude and not all the double talk, high pressure selling. read more

Saw "Dr" bond at Kroger. I said how ya doing? As we approached each other. I said "my glasses are still messed up." He laughed at me and kept walking. This is the guy you deal with at this office. I DO NOT recommend this Optometrist. Front desk receptionist is hard to deal with. Dr. Bonds is aggressively blunt, very opinionated, and impressed me as just plain rude. Our family of 4 has been going to EyeCare Optometry Associates, PC/Dr. Bond for at least 10 years. My wife and children have always tried to convince me that his practice is good and that Dr. Bond's condescending attitude was ok and against my better judgement I gave them the benefit of the doubt and continued to spend my hard earned monies with this practice. NEVER AGAIN! Last year (2013), my wife and I had the full service with eye exams and new glasses and we spent over $600. My pair of eyeglasses just a couple of months after purchase, detached from the frames cleanly (unwelded), a clear manufacturer defect. I took them back to EOA and they replaced them. Then it happended again and again, the exact same problem with the exact brand of frame. The third time they refused to do anything at all. I suggested since it happened to three pairs that it is an obvious manufacturer problem and that we should try another frame and of course they said I would have to pay for it. I said if that was the case my family would take their business somewhere else and it was then that they said that they would order a new pair and to their credit when I picked up my eyewear and walked outside I noticed that they gave me transition lens. Very nobel, but truthfully the damage had been done. I wish that was the worst of it all. The next pair detached from the frame on both sides and I still wear them with crazy glue because they are only 1 year old. yes, this happened all in less than 1 year. Against my wishes, my wife bought a pair of eyeglasses from them 2 months ago and today they broke. Eric, who we guess is part owner, said he could not do anything because my wife's 2 month old glasses were not under warranty and Dr. Bond just stood right there next to him, we knew he could hear everything and said nothing with no acknowledgment. Coincidentally, Dr. Bond did the same thing each time I returned with my defective eyeglasses, too. We wanted out of there however it was late in the day, my wife and I had a schedule we could not divvy from and my wife's poor vision needed attention immediately. Their answer was your 2 month old glasses are not under warranty however if you want to upgrade to another frame pay the difference ($60). I reminded Eric about my experiences with their practice and showed him my eyeglasses. He copped an attitude and Dr. Bond stood there and acknowledged nothing. My wife has a new frame out of necessity but NEVER AGAIN! Dont go here! read more
