Very long wait time, with appointment staff changing times, canceling, providing different doctors…read morethan scheduled, and not seeming to know what's going on from one minute to the next. The care quality is up in the air based on who you see, and what their specialty and experience is for that type of care. One time I went in to have my eye photographed by a large machine and the teenage staff members there seems inexperienced and unable to figure out how to use the machine. One young lady was looking at her phone while eating a bag of chips a few feet away while the teenager male kept pulling my head and trying to position it in different ways and eventually had to ask the teenage young lady to put down the chips and help him try to figure out how to photograph my eye. It took them several times to figure it out. Considering that patients go there for very serious, often life-altering medical conditions that can be life-threatening if not treated properly or cause them to lose sight, it's disheartening and depressing to see teenage staff disorganized, disinterested, and seeming to be out of touch with what they need to be doing or how to schedule simple appointments.

This was my first appointment with Dr. Wagner, and I deeply regret going. Patients in the waiting…read moreroom were sitting for an average of two hours just to be seen for ten to fifteen minutes, which I found unacceptable. Still, I waited patiently for my turn. The nurse who checked me in tested my vision by holding up her fingers and asking me to look in different directions. No machines were used to assess the health or vision of my eyes, even though my optometrist had previously detected high pressure multiple times over the last six months. After numbing my eyes, the doctor came in, briefly examined me, and said my eye pressure was normal at 18 in both eyes (which I was very happy and also my optic nerve was fine). Unexpectedly, the doctor made comments about my weight. I explained that my A1C is perfectly normal and that I am comfortable in my size large clothes. I am a big breasted women so he seemed to assume I was overweight based on appearance alone. I did not come for unsolicited opinions about my body. I came for a medical evaluation of my eyes. I stood up for myself and asked him to stop, but he was loud and dismissive throughout the visit. After the appointment, I was shocked to receive a bill for $358. Other ophthalmologists in the area charge around $175 for a comprehensive exam that includes proper machine testing, like at Virginia Eye Consultants. When I contacted the billing department, I was told the wrong billing code might have been submitted but that it could not be changed because doing so would be considered fraud. However, it seems unethical that an incorrect code benefiting the provider financially was submitted in the first place. That's a fraud! I wrote a letter directly to the doctor and gave it to the practice manager, but she repeatedly ignored my follow-up requests. I do not know if the doctor ever saw it, or simply chose not to respond. I do not recommend this practice due to the excessive wait time, the doctor's poor bedside manner, and questionable billing practices.

Maybe I should just be editor of all these businesses! Who keeps entering all these names…read moreincorrectly?? Anyways, this should be correctly named Virginia Beach Eye Center. Although they do do surgeries, they do more than that. There are 2 doctors here both very well known in the area and in the field of ophthalmology. I've had a great experience with them individually, but the biggest negative thing about their practice is the wait. Be prepared to be here for at least an hour and 15 min. They have so many patients packed in that they inevitably fall behind. However, they do spend the time talking to you once it's your turn. Also in the same building is their affiliated optometry center. Instead of an ophthalmologist you can opt to see an optometrist. Then just walk right over to the other counter and get your glasses prescription filled! I often like to come in to get a few candies which they have a big bowl of by the counter. shhhhh

First and foremost Dr. Aris Delianides is rude and I believe there's always someone higher up than…read morehim to complain to. I don't like how I was treated or spoken to concerning a situation with my eye I'm assuming is a stye but I've had it now for 9 months . I'm doing the necessary treatment provided by the doctor but my eyes haven't gotten any better. Upon my visit he suggested updating my medication to 100mg instead of 50mg after already taking the medication for months now. Also I pay out of pocket 25.00 for this medication after my insurance is applied. He didn't know the end result if I took the updated medication and didn't tell me what other options I had. I had to google it and ask questions. I inquired about the steroid eye drops and I'm not sure if he made a racial comment or not but he said that wouldn't be good for my skin complexion and he rub his hand back and forth I guess implying my black skin tone because he said it would cause different coloration in my eye. So I did more research online and asked if he could drain the eye, he then goes to say that would be surgery here done in the office. I wouldn't suggested that as we're cutting the eye and scrapping it out but it may come back. What may come back ? What's going on with my eye if it's not a stye what is it? He was short with words and due to my insurance and what they charge every visit 50.00 would be applied on my bill owed as I didn't have the 50.00 upon my visit. I was grateful to the head manger for doing that's as 50.00 is due upon every visit. With the options presented to me and lack of communication and compassion the Dr. Rudely suggested that I get another opinion and see someone else. I felt disrespected and as if he was pushing me out. I left out of the very emotional because I thought we would at least have a solution to what's going on with my eyes after no results no changes within 9 months. I wish there was someone higher then him to complain to other then writing a review. I will take this further as his rudeness wasn't called for and still today I don't know what's wrong with my eyes just to keep taking the medication prescribed to me!

Isn't it every patients dream to have your doctor's full attention and to leave not feeling like…read moreyou were just another number in a long waiting room line? Well, I finally received that care with Dr. Le. Hallelujah! At the end of December 2025 I had an appointment at one of Beach Eye Care's locations. My initial complaint was glare when driving at night, my eyes watering spontaneously, plus it was getting harder to read fine print. Welcome to middle age. One very important detail you should know about me is that I have a STRONG phobia of anything coming at my eyes or put into my eyes. I DESPISE IT!! Unfortunately, an Optometrist's office is the mecca of doing just that. Deep breaths. At this appointment they expectingly tormented my eyes with drops and machines until settling on a prescription for eyeglasses. Huh? I was unprepared for that outcome. Honestly, I felt a little bullied into buying them. Nobody really explained anything to me, and it all felt very transactional. Still, I picked up the eyeglasses the first week of January 2026. And sadly, I didn't notice any difference and my symptoms continued. I also got headaches at the end of each day. Not fun. Needless to say, my feelings of confusion and anger from my December appointment carried over until I was seen again the last week of February 2026. This time at a different Beach Eye Care location where I met Dr. Le. I admit, I was frazzled and threw mini tantrums in the doctor's chair. Both at the idea of spending money on eyeglasses I didn't think I needed and at the tests she was doing to my eyes. I know she was just doing her job, but again, my phobia can't be reasoned with. It's the worst! Although Le's patience and communication was surprisingly soothing and tampered down my ridiculous bitching. I've had dry eyes since my mid-twenties (I'm currently 42). In the past, doctors just prescribed drops (never over my dead body would I use those liquid torture bottles) and surgery on my tear ducts (which I did have, under heavy anesthesia, yet it wasn't successful). So, you can imagine my amazement when this doctor FINALLY explained my condition in a way I could understand with an approach I could actually use. Turns out I did need glasses I just wasn't trained how to use them properly. That statement might make me sound like a total dummy, but being my first pair, nobody told me the top half was for driving and the bottom half was for reading. How was I supposed to know?? Dr. Le continued to pull out all the stops! First, by holding a model eye where she pointed out different parts of mine that were being affected. Then she explained each of my conditions at length so I could understand what was actually happening with my peepers. She also used an iPad of images that my eye looked like from the inside and what it could look like if I didn't start warm compresses twice a day. Furthermore, her assistant put two videos on my phone to watch later (which was embarrassing for me because I had to have her do it. Technology, am I right?) which was helpful. What I'm trying to say is cue the singing choir and release of doves under a glowing light because these two were magical. If you ever need an eye doctor you MUST see Dr. Melissa Le. She is by far the best out there. She works at their Kemps River location on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday and their First Colonial location on Thursday. You won't be disappointed. (And again, I apologize for my outbursts. Sigh.)

Currently I come at least once a year because I am required to have an annual Plaquenil exam by my Rheumatologist. I've never had long waits. There are waiting rooms in the examination room section of the office specific to each doctor. You sometimes have relatively short waits for additional tests administered by a different technician. There is also a short wait for the dilation eye drops to take full effect. But I can assure you that this is the "Cadillac Practice" for those needing specialized care. If you have an eye trauma they will find an immediate appointment for you, even if it's at another of their offices. Dr. Newsom did both my eyelid & cataract surgeries. The cataract surgery was a miracle. Needing astigmatism lens, he told me I would have to choose between far or near vision. The first eye was done with a distance lens. I was shocked when I stopped afterwards for brunch & could read the menu without glasses. I could actually see all distances. Having been extremely nearsighted, I've been wearing glasses or contact lens since I was a child. At my recheck the morning after the first surgery I told Dr. Newsom about being able to see all distances. He asked if I had ever worn one far & one near contact lens, which I had. He responded that we wouldn't even have to do the other eye unless I wanted sharper vision. If that was my choice he would do the other eye with a near lens. That was my choice. Being able to see all distances without glasses has changed my life. Driving, reading, piano music, television, computers....... It's all great with no glasses. Every year at my Plaquenil appointment I offer to kiss his feet. Once I asked why everyone's cataract surgery wasn't done this way. His response was that your brain adjusts & not everyone's can. My friend sees Dr. Pavilack, who she absolutely loves. He found a terrible problem created by a botched cataract surgery at a different practice. I'm here today to drive her home because of the difficulty in seeing with dilated eyes. She had to wait no longer than 5 -10 minutes. The office is large, clean, nicely decorated & has plentiful parking at its Republic Road location, which runs between First Colonial & Laskin Roads. If you want quality, caring eye care this is certainly the practice to choose.

I just gave me positive vibes when researching. They are doing what the can in regards to covid. I do wish they mailed or emailed the paper work to me. I love that option. That way I do not have to fumble in a chair filling out all the paperwork. I went for my first appointment. They took photos of my eyes and did a whole bunch of other things including dilating my eyes. I have not had that done in a while. I was totally not prepared for it. My eyes were so sensitive afterwards that I could barely keep my eyes open. I walked through the office without my contacts in so so could not see where I was going. After all was said and done and it was time for me to go home so sat in the car trying to figure out if so could even drive. I doubled up on my sunglasses and was able to see better. I was laughing to hard at this with a friend on the phone. I told her so feel like so was drunk... which it's been years since I was. But, I was just all over the place in my head that I came home to nap. While in the office Dr. Wagner introduced himself. He was so patient and kind and a jokester. I could hear him in the other room with a child and he was doing amazing in there!!!!! I go back early May for a procedure. I'll update more shortly. MAY PROCEDURE 5/5: I walked in for a late afternoon appointment. I was taking within 5-7 minutes, not long at all. The staff was friendly this time as well. They are so good at explaining what they were doing and if I had questions they were helpful. I was really enjoying the waiting room music. Very old time, made me think I was at Disney in one of their parks. One song was One O'Clock Jump by Benny Goodman. It was a nice distraction since my eyes were dilated. The procedure was great. I was nervous but, Dr. Wagner did well explaining everything's long with his staff. I love Dr. Wagner's style.. bow ties!
