I've been coming to this LensCrafters for years. They always have new styles to choose from and the tops brands you know and love. If you schedule your eye exam with the doctor next door they offer to take $50 off plus any additional discounts or insurance you may have. It's easy to schedule an appointment online and you can save time by completing your check in documents before hand. Plus, free adjustments for the life of your glasses!

Absolutely rude customer service. Snarky way of answering questions. Would not recommend dealing with any of the employees in there.

Since this is located at the mall, parking can be hit or miss depending on when you come here. It wasn't too bad on my visits here. My visits were on May 27, 2025 (to look for glasses and such) and June 5, 2025 (to pick up glasses). I had never been to a Visionworks until this first visit as my prior coverage was through EyeMed, so they were not in network. Now I am on a VSP plan, so they are on that plan. I had looked around at several places at reviews and such to make a decision of where I would go, and this is where it led me. When I came in on the first visit, it wasn't busy, though I came in at a time when kids are still in school and such. I was immediately greeted by Iris and went over to table with her. The first part was going through the prescription and what was covered under my VSP plan. She also told me that there was an offer for 50% off a second pair of glasses after using insurance benefits. After that was completed, she gave me time to look at frames for my new glasses. There were so many options to choose from. I did find some good ones that were not too much more in cost than what was covered under the VSP plan. After that, she reminded me about 50% off a second pair, so I looked for prescription sunglasses too. I found some really good ones too, and they still work great today. After getting everything ordered, she said it could take up to two weeks for them to come in, though it would end up coming in sooner. For both pairs of glasses, my total cost was less than $500. A little over a week later, I got a notification that both pairs of glasses were ready for pickup. I came in on June 5, 2025, to try the glasses on, make sure they were right, and ultimately bring them with me. Iris was here on this day too, so I was able to work with her again for this last step in the process. She made the process smooth and easy. She also adjusted them to make sure they fit properly. They also have a 100- day guarantee, so if you don't like the glasses for some reason, you can come in and replace them with another one in that timeframe. Overall, this was one of the best experiences I have had at any place I have gone to for glasses. Iris was great to work with through the entire process. She was very transparent throughout and no stone was left unturned. The selection of frames for both the glasses and sunglasses was abundant. If you are looking for a place to get glasses, and Visionworks is in network for your vision benefits, this place is definitely worth going to.

Great experience - from inquiring about my insurance coverage, to making my appointment over the phone, to my eye exam today, trying on my new pair of contacts, ordering them, and even choosing and getting fitted for new glasses. They accept a lot of insurances, just ask! There are always specials going on, and they change so I recommend you ask. In November, I had my annual eye exam at a doctor's office (not here). After looking at different…read moreplaces, I ended up getting my first set of glasses here. It's that darn astigmatism that made me get glasses. I was not in a rush to get them same day, so that was no issue for me. I wanted to get them done before the benefits reset at the beginning of the year. On the first visit, I was just looking for glasses at that time. When they tried to access my benefits, it was still locked at that time, but that happens. Even with that, they did attempt to sell me glasses that same day without using the vision benefits. That wasn't going to happen. After a few days and a call to the insurer, everything got cleared up. Once that was all cleared up, I came back into the place to look at glasses again and finalize what I was looking for. The place was a but busier this evening. Gloria was the one that worked with me on getting everything set up. The only thing that made it last longer than usual was that she was the only one there and the phone kept ringing almost one after the other. Once everything was set up, she said that it would be about two weeks before they would be ready due to the year-end rush (as many were trying to use their benefits before they reset in January). Fast forward a few weeks later. I got a call just under the two week period that my glasses were ready. Later that afternoon, I headed over to get the glasses. Once I put the glasses on and was fitted, I was able to see a lot differently than I was without the glasses. It's amazing what you can see when you get to 20/10 vision. I had some questions about some of the total amounts in the end, since it seemed like something was off. They indicated that one of the additional options wasn't factored in when I got the explanation of benefits back from the insurance provider, even though every charge amount was listed on that statement. To this point, I'm still not sure if I was really overcharged or not. Overall, this is a good place to find glasses. There isn't anything that would cause me to place a rating higher than the three rating given. You'll want to go somewhere else if you're in a rush to get new or replacement glasses.

UPDATED AT THE END The issues with JC Penney Optical at…read moreLynnhaven Mall amount to more than simple dissatisfaction. The place, and Chad, the optician there (I don't know his full name unfortunately) are dangerous. I am not exaggerating. My daughter has strabismus and astigmatism, so it's important that her prescriptions are executed correctly, especially as fas as measuring the center of the lens and the positioning in the frame. We always watch out for that and have never - for 10+ years - had a problem. Somehow, Chad managed to do the measurements so grossly wrong, that my daughter's eyes would not allign properly, the lens pulling them inward, towards her nose. Her vision was blurry and she got headaches. If you understand strabismus, that can absolutely destroy her vision and cause long-term problems with her treatment. To be sure we know exactly what's happening, we went back to my daughter's ophthalmologist, to get her lenses checked. It took them less than a minute to see how awfully they were put together; center off by almost an inch! With that information, and the correct measurements marked on the glasses, we went back to JC Penney Optical at Lynnhaven Mall, honestly hoping someone else rather than Chad would be there. No such luck. While he agreed to redo the glasses free of charge (as per JC Penney policy which we had established by calling their customer service line earlier) he tried to argue that it was our doctor who was wrong! At this point, we were trying to be patient and polite, hoping that despite everything, we'd get the glasses properly redone. Too optimistic, as it turns out. After about a ten day wait, we received the redone glasses. They were not blurry and didn't cause headaches and eye misalignment, so we thought everything was OK. I noticed they seemed a little crooked, but that happens sometimes, so I asked my daughter to keep an eye and adjust as needed. A couple of weeks in, they looked completely off on one side, so I took her to a different optician near home to adjust the frame, which is usually an easy fix when done by a professional. Well, maybe so, if you don't have an all-fitted frame! The moment the optician heated up the frame to do the adjustment, one of the lenses popped out of the frame! She said that she'd never seen anything like this - the lens on the crooked side was larger than the frame - by 3 millimeters! It was pushed forcefully into the frame, being too big to fit otherwise, thus twisting it. That's why it was sitting unevenly on my kid's face - the lenses were different sizes and wrong for the frame. So, now we are going to call JC Penney Optical customer service again and try to handle things from there. I'll update this review with the results, but in the meantime I go back to my initial point - that place, and their optician, are dangerous for your eyes. They will cause you weeks of unresolved issues and back and forth, and ultimately you'll still have to find someone else to correct everything. Especially if it's childrens' glasses you need - please go somewhere else. UPDATE: We contacted customer service and they were wonderful - quickly organized a refund for the broken glasses and approached the issue with care and understanding.

The staff also is great on email, even on days they are closed. They also are great at fitting both children in together and getting us in last minute. Only negative is that sometimes the wait is a little long and inside the room, there's nothing for kids to do (a puzzle or book would be a nice addition). Last time, in the waiting room, someone turned on the local news on loud. My 8 year old now has questions about how a child's body was found and couldn't sleep!! We don't let then watch the news yet and that's not an appropriate channel to have on with children in the waiting room. They have been in the same shopping center ever since I began seeing them which was (roughly) 14 years ago. They are still in the North Mall shopping center but they moved their practice a few business down (right next to Value City). It seems that the move has opened up their office and allowed them more space for frames and such, with the upgrade it appears that they have a great deal of new Optometrists working there which most likely means more of an open availability for new and existing clients. There are still a few Optometrists working there that were there when I was kid which is great to see. They may not always recognize me because they see so many faces in a day, but it's really refreshing to see the same people every year. Consistency is extremely important to me. Whenever I schedule my appointments with them they are always flexible. And what makes it even better is that they actually call you when your annual is due to remind you and to set an appointment. Their customer service is always on point. They are extremely helpful with any insurance related questions and even prescription questions that you may have. They have a WIDE array of frames to choose from during your appointment. I would encourage you to look around before you are called back and take your time looking around after your appointment. It's never a bad thing to browse until you find the "one". They have so many name brands, almost all that you could think of and they do very well in regards to staying up to date with whats currently trending. They have come a LONG way with their selection! They are helpful in regards to contact lenses, how to wear them and such if you are a beginner. The ladies that work behind the middle desk that work with you while your purchasing your glasses make sure you are totally comfortable during your visit. The level of professionalism from them is what stands out to me. They make you feel like you are in great hands, not just another number. Once I got my eyes and my vision checked, I was off to look for some frames (which I picked out during my wait to be seen) and before I could even start cherry picking all of the frames off of the wall that I wanted to try on Lucia came up to me extremely discreetly and advised me that I should try to stay away from metal frames and head over to the plastic frames because of how thick my prescription will be. She was extremely quiet as she whispered it to me. She was very kind and informative of what what the lenses will look like and what I should expect. My vision is 20/200 without lenses, so with them I will have good vision but without them I am nearly blind. Once I found my glasses Lucia and I sat down and she helped me pick the best ones. She was extremely kind and patient with me. She gave great opinions on which ones would look the best on me, which ones would look good with the thick lenses and even encouraged me to take some photos of myself so that I can see it as well, because I can't see what they look like on me. She went on to tell me that one of her close loved ones also has the same vision which reassured me that everything that she was telling me and trying to help me with was genuine. Needless to say it was awesome not only getting the help that I needed, but also getting to speak to someone who could relate to my situation. Sometimes the best help comes from people who have been or are in your position. There is plenty of parking. They sharing the parking lot with the shopping center so it is huge and there is always a spot open when I visit. Looking forward to coming back in the future!

I've gotten both glasses and contacts from here - contacts are my preference though. Even without insurance, the eye exams and prices for contacts are not too bad, depending on brand and quantity of course. When I called just a minute ago, I was told the routine eye exam is on promotion for $99 and is normally $145.
