Unfortunately I had the worst customer service experience of my life here yesterday. As a brief background, I've been wearing glasses for 27 years. My parents both wear glasses and we had previously been going to the optometrists and retail LensCrafters in MacArthur Center once a year every year for as long as I can remember and always have had a great experience. That store has now relocated and the closest to me is Lynnhaven Mall. I had previously walked into the retail side and a lovely woman named AJ helped me adjust my glasses that my toddler broke until I could replace them. I was looking forward to coming back to her to help me pick a style after my exam. I scheduled my appointment yesterday morning for that afternoon at 4pm. I arranged for my husband to get out of work early and watch our son to accommodate this appointment. I showed up at 3:55pm. At the front desk were 2 women one 20s/30s and one was older. The younger one greeted me and then proceeded to say and I quote "...yeahhhh we didn't have a phone number on file for you and your email didn't work so your appointment was canceled." The form did not require me to input a phone number or insurance. It even said on the confirmation email (of which I received THREE confirmations to the same email that "didn't work" for them) that I could fill out forms and provide insurance in person at the time of my appointment. They continued to tell me they could reschedule me for another day. I'm a very patient and understanding person, I don't enjoy confrontation. There was no apology for wasting my time. No effort to accommodate me. The lady beside her was her supervisor as I learned when asking to speak to someone else. She also met me with attitude, rolling her eyes and refusing to look at me, typing on her computer while I was desperately trying to seek resolution. Unprofessional, disrespectful and just downright rude. I wasn't yelling or cursing I was just upset at the situation and honestly, even a simple apology for the mistake would have gone so far. But not once did they even say sorry, in fact, blamed me saying I must've spelled my email wrong or there was a problem on my end. I received various spam emails and work emails to my same email after booking. Aside from this, I don't even understand why the appointment had to be canceled. I could've provided this info on the spot. My appointment was confirmed as BOOKED multiple times via email. I suggested perhaps there was an issue with their email host. Again met with blank stares. Disappointed is an understatement. Neither one of those women should be in a customer facing position. I'm disheartened to take my business elsewhere for my eye exams however AJ and the other gentleman working the retail side are absolute customer service rockstars and tried to help me afterwards. read more

This LensCrafters is located inside Lynnhaven Mall. It's basically just outside of JC Penney store. It's pretty easy to see the place as you come out of the store or from the parking garage. There is an independent eye doctor next door, but I already had my prescription for this year. My visit here was on October 30, 2023. The business was nice and bright when I came in. You can tell it was well maintained. You can see all the different kinds of frames available along the walls. When I came in, I was greeted by Amy, who I found out afterwards that she is the general manager for this location. I wanted to look around a bit to see what type of frame may work for me. After looking around for a little bit, I wasn't sure what type of frame I wanted to go with. Amy took the time to show me different frames, and she found one that I liked. After that, it was getting the process started to complete the purchase. It's a great way to use FSA funds too. The overall process was pretty straightforward and quick. She also checked to see if they had the lenses available there on site. In the end, they did have them available, and about an hour later, I got a text message that the glasses were available. I came back in later that afternoon to pick them up. Everything worked out and all was good. Overall, this was a very good experience for my first time getting glasses at a LensCrafters. The staff are friendly and willing to help too. Whether you have vision insurance or not, this is definitely a place to look into for getting glasses. There are so many different frames you can choose from. This place is definitely worth checking out. read more

Literally the rudest woman at the front desk ever. I was late to my appointment, yes my fault I completely understand, but when I first walked in - no smile, I asked "how are you" and got no response and I continued to say I have an appointment and barely got though my sentence before she snapped "you need to reschedule you're late. " I completely understand that, it was on me that I was 12 minutes late I accidentally walked to the wrong side of the mall. She never offered to help me reschedule just kept that same nasty look on her face like "not my problem". It was my first time ever going there and will absolutely not be back. Again, I totally get not being able to be seen today but the delivery was horrible and the attitude was horrific as the "front desk" person of an establishment. read more

I believe that he is a very valuable asset to the company. During our conversation, he expressed that he had been with the company 30+ years .. WOW! I easily booked an appointment online for an eye exam at Surge Eye Associates on 1/31. I parked in the garage by JCPenney and arrived 10 minutes early to fill in a few new patient sheets. At first when I got there, I walked into LensCrafters but Surge Eye Associates was a door to the right/to the left of Kids Foot Locker. I've never noticed it before, but the staff at LensCrafters nicely pointed me to the right direction. The waiting area was clean and had a small monitor with the show Friends playing. One of the front desk staff did 1/2 of the exam with me and Dr. Barnett did the other half. At one point of the appointment they notified me that a part of the exam was optional but isn't usually covered by insurance. And I appreciate them notifying me about that instead of doing it anyways and just charging me for it. Before my appointment I wasn't sure what to expect, but I felt pretty comfortable throughout my exam. After my exam I paid my co-pay, got my prescription, and then headed back to LensCrafters. Trung approached me and said picking glasses can be overwhelming at first, but he gave me a tray to put glasses I was interested in and helped me throughout the whole process. He asked me a few questions to help me figure out what kind of glasses I should get and informed me about my options. I'll be back to pick up my glasses when I get a text from them. I came back to LensCrafters lynnhaven mall location again to get new sunglasses with my updated prescription. They were so helpful with everything, especially with the frames I really wanted! Huge shoutout to Taylor who was so patient with me and helped me with the sunglasses I wanted and she even worked with her manager for the prices to match online, which has dicsounts going on right now. The manager was friendly and also nice. I really love the staff here! Taylor was also the one who helped me the last time when i was buying my eyeglasses. Kudos to this team! New frames come out every Thursday! This is one of the larger locations in the 757. The staff here is always so helpful. Even if they are with a guest they pause to acknowledge you and rest assure they will be with you shortly. The store has cases for you to walk around with in case you see any frames that interest you. If you don't see anything you like, don't hesitate to ask them to check another location. They are super nice and helpful at all times. It depends on your prescription, but most can be filled within an hour. So say you arrive at 6pm, more than likely, you will walk out with a new pair of frames by 730pm or earlier. This is my favorite "love" about them. One "super nice gesture" that stands out...new frames come in every week. However, the day I arrived they didn't put the new stock out. As a result, I sat right there with the lady and she went through ALL OF THE NEW STOCK (frames). Needless to say, I walked about with a fresh pair of frames :) I was soooooooo happy!!! I get tons of compliments on my frames when I'm out and about and for about 6 years now, I have been a lenscrafters customer...so love them!! If necessary, they do offer credit. If you qualify, I believe if you pay the card in full within 6 months no interest is charged...great perk!!! Gain credit and you can pay monthly. Have fun...see you around :) read more

The woman who was handling the actual eye exam had technological issues with all the equipment. It took at least twice as long as it should have, per her statement, and she continually apologized for it. Thanks for the apology, that was cool, but it didn't make the appointment go any faster. Then approximately 3 days after the appointment I called back to ask for a measurement of my pupils (PD), and they refused to provide it to me, it wasn't on my prescription, and I wanted to buy some back up glasses for cheaper than I could get them at an over priced retail location. They stated it was the doctors choice to provide it to me. I asked to speak to the doctor. I was left on hold for 15 minutes with no one checking in on me, or speaking to the doctor. I will be reaching out to my insurance, indicating that the doctor refused to provide me information about my exam, and ask them to not pay for the services rendered. Also, I'm curious what the $40 photographs they took of my eyes are actually for, because they did not provide me anything at the time of the exam, nor did they provide me any information that could be used for future reference from those photographs, so I will be disputing that charge with my bank due to to lack of services or products provided for the amount that I paid. I will also be sharing this on google, yelp, and any other review site I can. read more

They were able to fit me in same day for their last appointment. I was very impressed with the professionalism of the staff when there was an issue with my insurance being held up by another appointment that I had scheduled elsewhere a few days later. Dr. Singh took the time to listen to my concerns with double vision and eye strain, and I felt like she put in extra effort to get to a prescription and diagnosis that would help me correct my vision problems. She was very thorough in explaining her reasoning behind the prescription change. LensCrafters had a surprisingly wide selection of designer frames (Burberry, Prada, Versace, etc.) and I was shocked at how quickly they were able to fit my lenses into the frames I chose. It was less than an hour from choosing frames to walking out with a brand new set of eye glasses. It took me awhile to get used to the new prescription but the difference in clarity from my old pair is amazing. I highly recommend Dr. Singh and LensCrafters and will likely make this location my yearly go-to even though I live in Northern Virginia! read more

This Lensecrafters location was able to take my prescription (from the 5-star Optometrist next door) and I had new glasses in under 2 hours! And on a holiday weekend! Great people, wonderful service, and no hype up-selling. They gave me what I needed and didn't try to push more than that. Yes they listed the options, but there was no hard sell. I highly recommend them! I also highly recommend Surge Eye Associates next door. The staff there were conscientious, caring, and kept on trying until they found a way to make my insurance work! I'm concerned about the cleanliness of Eye Surge while COVID19 is skyrocketing. When I addressed the eye assistant and receptionist about not having any hot/warm water to wash my hands, the eye assistant didn't feel it was important. Then, after checking my eyes, she placed the utensil back into the container with all of the other pieces of equipment without using any cleaner or sanitizer, and slammed the door upon leaving. She then sent the next patient to the same sink that had only cold water. The doctor and the receptionist did state they would call maintenance about the lack of hot water. Unfortunately, it only takes one person to continue the spread of the virus keeping us from going back to school, work, and normal life. read more

My son doesn't "look" autistic. But the staff kept on smirking at him when he spoke. They where unprofessional. Bullying a disabled person is wrong. How is this store still in business with this " professionalism". It was the assistant manager that was bullying and disabled person. This happened at the LensCrafters in Lynnhaven in Mall in Virginia Beach. I will keep going to LensCrafters in Chesapeake Virginia. They are very professionals. read more

I sure miss the olden days when the customer was always right. If a customer has an opinion- why can't staff just smile and nod? How is staff's opinion more important than making a paying (paying quite an outrageous amount!) customer happy? Esp older staff who should remember that the 'customer always right' concept. They got me in for a same day eye exam. I barely had to wait. Dr. Chan was efficient, had a good table side manner, and got me in and out of there quickly without compromising any part of the exam. She also pointed out something (congenital cataracts) that I had never been told by an eye doctor before, so I appreciate her paying attention! read more

This review is for the optometry side of this business, not the side with frames/eyewear. My understanding is that the two operate somewhat separately, at least at this location. My previous experiences at LensCrafters optometrists at other locations have been very positive. I made an appointment for 12:15 pm on a Wednesday and was not seen by a doctor until 1:45 pm. The receptionist was lovely and she did my glaucoma test with the air puff machine and the autorefraction quickly and in a friendly manner. Waiting for the optometrist was another story. An hour and a half after my scheduled appointment time, I finally got to see her, receiving a very cursory apology for the delay. After my contact lens fitting, she asked if I wanted dilation. After confirming that it would take another 20-30 minutes for my eyes to dilate, I demurred, saying only, "I think I will save it for another time since it's getting late." She then said, "Well, I'm working through my lunch." She paused. "But that's not your fault." I found the comment somewhat off-putting. She seemed to have very little respect for my time. Because I was never given a reason for the hugely long delay in being seen (no, "had to squeeze in a patient who was having an emergency," no, "there was supposed to be another doctor today but he got sick"), I have to assume that they merely overbooked, not allowing enough time for each appointment. In December I went to another eye care place in lynhavven mall, only because Dr. Ferrara's office was packed and my experience there was nothing compared to my experience with Dr. Ferrara. At my visit this month, in june he was very personable and didn't rush through with seeing me. Very accommodating and friendly environment. I am happy that I decided to go back and give them a try. Great selection. Fabulous job fitting me for my frame and my lens. I have a very round, very large face, with no nose bridge, I'm hard to fit. The selections at LensCrafter are far greater than most places. Love that they will take a picture of you in whatever frame(s) you are considering buying so you can see what you look like. Love the new-fangled device that they use to measure the position of your eyes on the lens; gives them a more accurate measurement, especially for progressive lens users. The only negative and it is a HUGE negative, and the reason I didn't give them 5-stars, is their outrageous lens price. I didn't get transition lens, but I got progressive, the high-index, teflon, etc. etc. It all came to over $800 retail, that's just plain crazy; lucky for me they were having 40% off lens sale. But the frame is the perfect size for my face, it's stylish with a bit of color, and the progressive areas are spot-on. read more

Not going back here for exams or glasses. Staff is very rude. Came in for eye exam so I could get new glasses at 11:45 on Saturday. Promptly called into first office to use eye machines and then tried to be sold a "retinal image" for an extra $40 not covered by insurance and not fully explained why it would be needed. After those tests were done, I was shown to a room to wait for the doctor for the eye exam. I waited 25 minutes without anyone even coming by. When the older woman doctor came in we proceeded with the exam. She asked me what I did for a living and I told her that I am a programmer during the day and run a 3d printing company at night so I'm on the computer then as well. She told me that I should "get a life" and that I'm "probably Vitamin D deficient too". Super rude. At this point I'm done with small talk and just try to get through my test. We obviously have some miscommunication here because she tells me to say when things get clearer but then flicks to a new lense that makes it blurry and I try to explain what I'm seeing to her and she tells me she knows what she's doing and has done it for 42 years. I wont even get into how rude the staff was next door when trying to pick out frames and lenses. I'm not going back there and will be pursuing further actions if the new glasses I get with perscriptions lenses are blurry. read more

I recently purchased a complete pair of progressive lens eyeglasses, complete with tint and UV protection, from this location, and the experience was exceptional. The price was reasonable, and the optician named "Susan" who assisted with my selection of frames was very knowledgeable and helpful. When I had difficulty choosing between two frames, Susan took my picture wearing first one frame, then the other (with my permission first). Then she showed me my comparative photos on her tablet... which instantly confirmed which frame I truly liked! I was not rushed. Susan was an exceptional "listener" when it came to hearing my preferences and needs. In addition, my glasses were ready for me in one hour! I've been wearing them for over a week now, and they are wonderful. The lenses are perfect for my needs, and skillfully done.
