I did not use their service, I only drove a friend here for their eye appointment, he reports that they were very nice, they took his insurance (The Medi-Cal VSP) for the exam, but did not have any glasses that were covered in full by the plan, so he was unable to get glasses that he desperately needs. I told him to ask for his PD measurement so we could order him some online for cheap, and they wanted to charge him 35$ for this measurement. I took him home and looked up how to do it, and got his measurement fine in no time. So just in case you are curious, it's very easy to get the measurement, if you have a metric ruler. You have the person look straight ahead and you measure the distance in millimeters between the centers of their pupils, double checking that the center of the bridge of their nose hits in the middle. If the nose hits off center, then you have two pd's the one from center left eye to center nose and the one from center right eye, to center nose. If they are even, you have one number, and that's the total from pupil center to pupil center. It literally would have taken them two seconds to give him this number, they just want to force him to give them 35$, to pay a fee for not buying glasses from them because they will not take his insurance for the glasses, when he clearly does not have 35$ as he is on Medi-Cal. So that was pretty awful of them. read more

I have been a patient at this location since 2023. I haven't been back since last Friday (1/15/2026). Unfortunately, the Dr I saw back in 2023, left. The Dr. I saw on (1/15/2026) she was sweet and very informative. Teresa and Dao were great! Teresa was so helpful and easy to talk to. Teresa is from the Story Rd location. Dao was so good at getting me ready to see the Dr. Back in 2023, the front desk wasn't that nice. I don't remember her name, maybe because she didn't make an impact on me. read more

This place has a wide selection of frames with many options and brands to choose from. My whole family goes here, and they all have great things to say about the staff. I just picked up my new pair today, and they did a fantastic job, especially considering I have astigmatism. read more

WORST place to get your glasses!! Think twice before going there, I paid $393 for glasses that were the worse quality. When I was doing my order they charged me many fees for the glasses to be high index, uv light, and transition. When I got the glasses they were not high index even if I pay for it, the glasses looked horrible and cheat. I tried complaining and they just send the glasses back to lab for weeks and when I got them back they look the same they just grind the edges of the lens but that's it. So basically I paid for something I didn't even get read more

They tried to upsell $1200 RF therapy (not covered by insurance) for dry eyes. They used scare tactics that its absolutely required and if not done, you will need eye surgery. The doctor was reasonable with pushing the RF therapy but the assistant was very aggressive to upsell it. Last year I went to see EyeC at a different location and they didn't even mention about this. If other businesses are upselling I can understand, but not from a medical facility. You shouldn't push for something that is not required by scaring the patients. read more

This place is a scam. I took my daughter here because we live nearby. After examining her, the doctor (who is also the owner) told us she had myopia and needed glasses. He also pushed us to buy corrective lenses that were not covered by our insurance, fortunately we didn't end up buying. For the next three years, my daughter wore glasses based on their prescriptions. On ourlast visit, a different doctor conducted the vision test and told us my daughter was actually wearing overpowered lenses and prescribed a weaker one. That immediately raised red flags. I then took my daughter to a completely different clinic for a second opinion. The doctor there told us she does not need glasses at all. So for three years, my daughter was made to wear unnecessary and overpowered glasses. This place wasted our time, money, and potentially affected my child's vision. I would not trust this office and strongly recommend getting a second opinion elsewhere. read more

Horrible customer service! After over 30 mins was told to leave the exam room and that the dr will get me in 5 mins. Had a 4pm appointment and wasn't seen until after 4:50. Was over charged on top of everything else. Do not recommend! read more

We live local so I called EyeC Optometry to schedule an eye exam for my mother and picked option 2 for Camden location and I got on the phone "mal" as she introduced herself an office manager. She was the most unprofessional, rude and unpleasant person that i have came across, especially for someone claiming to be an "office manager. Her real name is Malik and im waiting to get in touch with the General manager Lauren to express my dissatisfaction and the experience to her. I have requested the Lauren's contact info but I'll doubt they'll provide it to me, given the fact that when I asked for it she simply pretended that she could hear me any longer and hanged up. I would give "Malik" the office manager based on her conduct a 0 if the rating was available. read more

This place is a joke and simply money hungry. I took my 4 year old and they scared me and had me worried sick the Dr i saw claimed that my daughters vision was so bad and that i needed to get her glasses ASAP THAT IN THE FUTURE SHE WOULD NEED EYE SURGERY IF I DIDNT ACT FAST first time parent worried sick im agreeing to all she is saying then i come to the register and shes telling me her insurance wont cover anything but theyll give me a "discount" she then proceeds and says that i have to get transitional eyewear and that i must have 2 pairs in case one breaks because my daughter must not go a single second with out they wanted me to pay 560 for two pairs i told them i was financially unable to do that so the doctor then just walked off and i was left with the receptionist i paid 280 for one pair ... well now i just took my daughter to another place for her routine check up and it turns out that she has a simple astigmatism!!!! And the optometrist assured me she was fine that yes glasses are needed but no where near as severe as to what this place said! Oh and guess what my insurance which is the same as before covered the full exam plus a pair of glasses!!! DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOURE LOOKING TO GET SCAMMED! And yes the experience at this place was in 8/2023 but it is a experience still so vivid in my head because she left me worried sick for days from what she said i remember even crying to sleep that night I would give this place 0 stars if i could! read more

This review is for the Camden location. I haven't been to the other ones. Avoid this place. We tried them for the entire family because of their location. At first glance they seemed promising because they have a wide selection of frames. However our positive experience ended there. They completely got my husband's prescription wrong and he had to go back 3x to get this addressed. It took several weeks!!' My glasses I'm still not able to wear. They were progressives and I couldn't use them for computer work. Not to mention the frames were never fitted so they fall of my face. My son's was a CRT lens and we were told we needed to go to their other location on King road after his hour long visit on the Camden location. I told them no go because the whole reason we switched to them was because of their location. Then they said ok... but it was too late. After several weeks of back and forth. I'd rather pay $900 to get out of my contract with them because they are so terrible. There's more I could explain but you get the picture. Save your time and money. Go somewhere else. Location isn't everything when it comes to your eye sight. read more

Very rude customer service. Gave me attitude for not showing up to an appointment that the doctor told the scheduler to cancel because it wasn't needed anymore. Not my fault that she forgot to cancel it. Also, I've been to many places that are more like family like businesses. If you need some sample contact lenses to hold you over till your order comes, they usually help you out. This place didn't even want to talk it out and hung up on me while I was still talking. Guess I'll just be blind til my order comes in. Pretty crazy. read more

My glasses broke and I was in desperate need to purchase a new pair of glasses, might as well purchase some contact lenses while I'm here. I initially chose this place because it was close. For what was supposed to be a painless TWO-THREE weeks turnaround time for such a simple purchase -- turned out to be 2 LONG MONTHS of cat and mouse. Forgetting to take eye measurements, having to reorder my entire order multiple times, having to continuously call them to get any sort of update, and not ONE thing done correctly and on time. All they had to offer was a mere $30 for my wasted time, money, and gas. There were hundreds of different options I could have chose from and I made the grand mistake of choosing here. Today (5/31) I came into EyeC to pick up my glasses around 5pm, the worker handed the frames and said "here". Not acknowledging that a customer had stepped foot into the clinic, she also did not offer to adjust my frames to ensure they fit. Overall I am extremely UNSATISFIED for how the entire clinic has handled my situation, they DO NOT CARE to meet deadlines. They understood my frustrations but still chose to stay UNPROFESSIONAL. Upon picking up my frames the worker had also informed me that the Practitioner Manager "Milly/Millie" will give me a call me either today or tomorrow to discuss my situation. Not sure what justice this call will do for me unless they are discussing some sort of refund LARGER than just $30 out of my total purchase of $511 (including contacts and frames). This clearly tells me how EyeC values their customers for such a FRUSTRATING and TIME CONSUMING EXPERIENCE. Heres my Timeline: 4/8 -initial visit -after leaving, they told me to come back because THEY forgot to take eye measurement 4/11 -second visit to take eye measurements they FORGOT 4/20 - called for update on order - thuy passed the message on to me that someone forgot to put in my order 4/25 - received email confirmation for order 5/18 - called for an update. eyeC informed me that they lost my order 5/20 - went to go pick up contacts (they only gave me one box: 30 day lens) but i paid for 90 days ( 3 boxes of lens total ) 5/23 - they had to REORDER the missing 2 boxes of 30 day contact lenses and asked me to provide a TON of proof that i only received one box 5/26 - received text informing glasses arrived 5/30 - received text informing missing 2 months contacts arrived - made an in person visit JUST TO FIND OUT glasses were in gilroy read more

The doctor and assistants were all very helpful and professional. Shopping for eyeglasses had a hiccup where the frames they had on display (to try on) were technically no longer available by the manufacturer... but didn't stop me from them. When the glasses came in with different frames than I expected, I was not happy... but to fix that they allowed me to switch my lenses into their discontinued demo frames (on the same day) and also give a discount for my troubles! Overall a good experience for getting my first pair of glasses. read more

Visited this location by first time while traveling. Monique, Dr. Du, and Kim were absolutely amazing and took great care of me!

Stepped in for an appointment and although it was busy at the moment I was acknowledged instantly. Within a couple of minutes of checking in I was in doing my exam. The optician was very nice, and super helpful while running vision tests, thanks for being patient lol. I was taken into the exam room and greeted by Dr. Le. He made me feel super comfortable and was very friendly and knowledgeable. He gave me a good recommendation of new contacts which I'm finding great so far. Monique was very knowledgeable and broke down my insurance plan with such ease. Any questions I had were answered. I can safely say I have a new optometry! read more

Despite the bright and sunny reception area, it feels cheap and unwelcoming walking in here for a new pair of glasses. The all white display cases along the wall are all locked up as if petty thievery is a common problem in this Cambrian neighborhood. I can totally understand if they chose to lock up a pair of Gucci or Louis Vuitton glasses. But most if not all of the glasses here are ordinary and just cheap. I can't be by myself for more than 2 minutes when someone walked up to me and said: "Can I help you to pick out something?". And without even asking for her opinion, she randomly picked out a pair, handed to me and said: "These will look good on you!". That was so insincere and snobbish! Who is she to say what looks good on me or not. Let me decide what to buy and what to wear. That is how anyone can earn my trust and my business. read more

Dr. Hong is simply the best!!! The biggest thing that stands out is that he actually talks to his patients and listens. I have never had a doctor take so much time to make sure I got what I needed. It was my first optometry visit since moving to South San Jose, and my initial experience wasn't bad. Although my frames broke after a year, I considered it normal wear and tear. However, my second visit was disappointing. After the exam and selecting frames, I was informed that I had to pay over $600 even after insurance coverage. I'm convinced they overcharge for glasses and lenses. I didn't feel the doctor provided a thorough exam and seemed more focused on sales than on quality service. read more

Now since my last review, 2 weeks has passed and they missed their promised date again and I still haven't got my glasses back. Update 9/23: On 9/16, right after 2 months of waiting, I got my glasses back. Two things I want to highlight: - The staff at the shop has been very communicative and keeping following up with their lab about the progress of the glasses and they understand my frustration. In general I'm satisfied about what they've done to handle my situation. - My frustration mostly comes from the lab not able to keep their timeline and pushback the ETA several times so I doubt their professional capability. read more

This was my first visit since this location was sold to EYE C. I enjoyed the previous establishment. My experience didn't start well when I walked in the door and the first words out of the person sitting on her computer with out looking up were "Check in at the IPAD over there." after that I sat and waited for about 15 minutes for my appointment which I arrived right at the appointment time for. The office manager seemed annoyed about having to start my testing, came to find out her name was Monique. Then the technician, Kim ,in and took over and it was a bit awkward as she kind of snapped at Monique. I went through all the machines and had pictures of my eye taken. Came to find out at the end of that the pictures were not covered by insurance and if I didn't pay extra they would have to dilate my eyes and the day I tool off would have been basically ruined. So I agreed to the extra charge to use the pictures they already took? The doctor then did my exam and prescription didn't really change but not totally sure because it was not reviewed against my with me. The doctor brought me out of the exam room and showed me some eye drops she suggested. I thought they might be a free sample the way they were presented. Monique wanted to jump into me buying two pair of glasses since that was what my insurance covered. I asked to reschedule since it took longer than I expected. She seemed real annoyed but scheduled me for the next day. Then she told me the doctor wanted me to get the drops when I asked if they were covered she said no and it was an additional 49$ charge! I said no thank and as I was looking to see if there was anything special about the drops (wondering how much the cost on amazon) she took the drops away and hid them behind the mirror on the desk. I reached around and took a picture of the drops. Came to find out I could buy them on amazon for about 18$!. I came back the next day for a glass fitting and told Kim that I was not interested much in style as I am on a budget and would really like to get glasses that are covered by insurance pretty much fully. She looked up what my insurance covered and it was up to 190$ for the frames. I said great what do have in the under $200 range. She handed me multiple pairs of glasses between 250-300+. I had to reiterate multiple times I was on a budget. She finally goes over to a drawer and says these are all we have that would be covered, 3 lousy styles of frames. I was luckier with the sunglasses as she finally handed me a pair that was under $200 and it was covered. We then sit down to go through the payment and she starts talking about the regulars pair of glasses I asked for (I was not happy with but thought I need some extra glasses and at least they will be covered) and she tells me the additional charge for them is 73$ ? as I ask what was not covered by Insurance she says the material charge for the lenses. Having purchased glasses on line I know there are different materials and generally there is a free material. She had added an upgrade to poly carbonate material. I told her a gain I didn't want any additional upgrades just basic on a budget. She removed the upgrade and the glasses had a 10$ co-pay. I was fine with that. then the sunglasses. Again frames are covered by insurance, I ask for the covered lenses. That will be just an additional 75$ charge! I ask to see again and point out she added polarization that was not covered by insurance (all of this because they charge 3 times what you would pay on line at glassesusa.com). I asker her to remove, she has to call her manager Monique to figure it out. They get it figured out. Some how I missed that she added color to the lenses and that was 12$ charge. I finally got out the door for 32$ for what should have been a 20$ co-pay. When I got home I realized I could have gotten glasses I actually liked covered through insurance through an online company that had better options and prices. I went back down to just cancel my order completely feeling like it was Saturday an hour had passed and it should be able to be undone. I was told the policy was all sales are final and nothing can be done. Kim called Monique and let her know I was not happy with the glasses and the only offer I got was I could call to talk to Monique on Tuesday (Labor day no one was in on Monday). I call on Tuesday and Monique tells me they already started my glasses and couldn't stop the order. I find that very unlikely as there is like a 2 week lead time on glasses. She said she talked to the insurance billing as well and I am not believing that either. They didn't have time call me and they don't feel like they are doing everything they can to make you believe you have to pay the extra money out of pocket when you don't. This optometrist has completely lost my trust and business. This was paired with a very negative experience my wife and daughter had as well when it came to get her contacts. don't trust this place!!!! read more

Very bad customer service, I do not in any way recommend EyeC Optometry. I went in for an eye exam and took the doctor's recommendations and ordered contacts. Later that day I realized that the lens for my right eye really wasn't doing anything to improve the vision. So first thing the next morning -- less than 24 hours after ordering-- I called to cancel that part of the order and was told that their office policy is that they don't allow cancellations, period. Less than 24 hours after placing the order, an order that was not customized in any way, just a standard off-the-shelf contact prescription. I offered to pay any cancellation fee, still they said they can't. Interestingly, they were able to cancel the order with the manufacturer but then had to keep the money as a credit on my account instead of refunding it. So, clearly, cancelling the order wasn't the real problem, they just didn't want to let go of my money. read more

I called to check if I can go to the store and get a new pair of glasses, Thuy picked the call and told me I can "walk-in" now, when I went there, she has already made a list to compare the glasses options for me based on my prescription (my udpated prescription was from them and in their system), I was amazed by the efficiency and professionalisim of her work right away. Then she expressed her warm-hearted personalities in helping me selecting frames with great patient. She was more than a friend than one working from the optomitry store-- she gave me her opinion and advice standing on my shoes. It was extremely happy talking with her. I strongly recommend this store, for their great professional skills as well as their way to treat their patients. read more

I had a wonderful experience with the doctor but the receptionist refused to accept our secondary insurance so I'm forced to take our prescriptions to be filled at another location. She is the only person that has told me that I cannot use my primary and secondary insurance together which I know is untrue because my family has always used both insurances. I've asked her nicely 3 times to please give me the prescriptions for myself and my son but she refuses to do so. I also asked for itemized receipts for me to bill my secondary insurance so that I can get reimbursed and she won't give me those receipts either. She has taken my email down all 3 times that I have asked and told me that she would email everything but she doesn't. The eye doctor was great one of the best. She diagnosed 2 eye conditions that my son and I have. My son will be ordering the night time contact lenses which those I know are not covered under any insurance and they will require several visits to the eye doctor so I am disappointed that the receptionist has given such terrible service otherwise I would purchase the contact lenses from them. I shouldn't need to beg for my son's eye prescriptions. Her choice to refuse to give them is only hurting the child. Let me start by saying 'I really miss Dr Lin Hoang'...my family and I have been going to him for over 20 years,,, I decided I would give the new owners a go and I should have trusted my instinct... not only do they not tell you what exactly you are paying for but they assume you are gong to get whatever they tell you. Long story short, they have a lot of new hi~tech machines, which is great but these are all added costs to US...we have really good insurance plan for eye sight and I still ended up paying almost $700!... they are very pushy and tried to sell me prescription sunglasses which I repeatedly kept saying I don't want/need them, she still proceeded to give me a quote on $800, this was on top of my regular glasses, to top it off I did not get my glasses at the timeline they said (2 weeks)......... after multiple calls from me chasing them and finally telling them I want cancel my order and want a refund , I got them the very next day ( after over 4 weeks). Also I got charged $230 for a contact fitting!... this is unheard of and absolutely ridiculous when I questioned this I was told that it's up to the owners to charge what they want!... I only paid $45 with Dr Lin, this mark up is outrageous, needless to say I will not be returning here as they are a complete rip off and nor will any of my family members.... sorry for the rant but I do t want anyone else to be taken advantage of specially if you are/were a loyal client to Dr Lin and Myra....definitely not a warm family practice read more

This is a great neighborhood optometry. I wish I can say I caught the name of the woman who helped me, but I can't remember. Either way, I bought the blue light blocking glasses online and the instructions said to get them fitted by a local optometrist. When I first got them they were pinching on the side of my head. I brought them here and asked if I had the right size frame for my face and if they could help with the fitting. The woman re-shaped them perfectly! She explained as they naturally stretched out over the next few months, I'd have to come back and do it again. She was informative and helpful and I didn't even buy them there. So grateful! Will definitely be back and would refer a friend who needed some real eye care. read more

Dr. Hong was enthusiastic about finding the correct pair of frames for me. I wanted my glasses to double as my sports glasses, and he recommended a bunch-- from Oakleys to Nikes. Myra was helpful in making sure that I chose the correct pair so it didn't end up looking like a date-repellant. I initially chose an Oakley, thinking that after the transition wore off, I could still wear it indoors and look cool. She gave me a funny look, punched out the Oakley's dark lenses and asked me to wear it. She asked, 'would you wear that in a club to meet women?'; after looking into the mirror and I finding me looking back looking like aquaman, I said, "No, unless I want my gene pool to stop". This can make a huge difference, and they do that with a friendly smile! Secondly, things go wrong, you know, I dropped my glasses, and they still totally fixed them! Thirdly, and most importantly, is the service. Dr Lin Hong is friendly (I already said like family, right?), and knows his stuff! Let me start by saying that I *HATE* shopping for frames. I do not have a good face for eyeglasses. Big nose, tiny and close set eyes, and an unfortunately heavy jaw. I put on glasses and they almost always accentuate everything I do not like about my features. Nobody thinks I look good in glasses. So I put off getting frames until the day my prescription expired after having gone 5 YEARS after having got my last pair. Needless to say, I needed new glasses and I needed them TODAY. I dragged my husband with me to help me with this ordeal and Luis greeted us pleasantly when we came in. I dropped my purse on the counter and started franticly skimming the racks to see if anything looked promising. Since the current fashion is for dark, dramatic, square frames - exactly what I *don't* need - I wasn't optimistic. Luis was great about listening to what my preferences were, and why, and pulling out frames for me to look at and showing me other places to look. I don't like overly "helpful" (pushy) salespeople, and Luis was perfect. He made quiet suggestions that were actually helpful, listened to what I said, mostly stayed out of my way, but was right there when I had a question. My husband and I narrowed it down to just a couple of pairs and then asked the opinion of which pair was best. Everyone in the shop agreed with my husband as to which pair of frames was most attractive, and that they were better than the frames I came in with! So a big score there. Mayra was very efficient, pleasant and professional getting me checked out with all the extras I needed/wanted for my frames and made it very clear exactly what the standard cost for everything was, how much my insurance would cover, and how much was for me to pay. And while we were doing this, Luis replaced the bridge pads and adjusted the glasses I came in wearing - they had never been adjusted correctly since the day I bought them 5 years ago, they were painful and always slipping - and now they fit great! He even adjusted my prescription sunglass frames which I had sprung out so they kept slipping off and now they fit like new also! I can't comment about Dr. Hong since I haven't met him, but I can say that Luis and Mayra treated me to the most pleasant eyeglass shopping experience I have ever had and I can't say enough about how pleasant, competent, and helpful they both were! My husband and I were both very impressed! read more
