I love their frames with fun colors and fashion. Unfortunately, after two years of wearing a pair I loved I couldn't clean the lenses. I brought them in and they told me that it was delaminating of the tinting and could not be repaired and I would have to replace the lenses at a cost to me of $300. I tried to ask them to cover the defective product and they said it was two years old, which is beyond their warranty. I understand one year thing for normal issues, but I consider this a sub quality product if their lenses can't last more than two years without needing to be replaced because of their product and not an eye vision change. I've had many other pairs over my 60 years from many other companies and never had this issue. I will never buy eyeballs again, nor should you. read more

While the styles and colors are unique and attractive, I find the quality of the glasses to be lacking as evidenced by a pair snapping at the bridge after only a few weeks. When I complained, the company told me that though they broke while being stored in my pocketbook, it was my fault.. that clearly an external force had been responsible. . I assure you, that did not happen. I don't use the bag as a battering ram or weapon nor did I use it to shield myself when being hit by a truck or other massive vehicle. The glasses broke because they were made of inferior materials and Eyebobs won't own it. I've bought my last pair. read more

After returning my last pair of Eyebobs, a customer service representative called and asked if they could make it right by replacing the defective returned frame with a new one at no cost. While it's too late to salvage my most recent eye exam and frames, I will use them in the future, and now feel much better about the Eyebobs customer service department for following up. Eyebobs gone bad. This is what happens when Private Equity owns a once good business. Long time customer that was rudely dismissed by "Customer Service"! Among my purchases I had purchased two of the same style just in case they discontinued the style I would have a second pair for down the road. Time came to use the second pair and one temple came off - slide right off. Just very poor construction. I called and said they would be able to tell glasses were never used - not a mark or smudge on them. Call to "Customer Service" - mailing and repair costs ALL On Me because of my date of purchase for this pair. "But certainly it is obvious the glasses were defective from the start?" Still All My Problem. I now see a lot of "1 star" ratings and understand why. I do not suspect I will hear from the company. read more

There are no better readers on the market than eye bobs! I can honestly say I have lost count of how many I own. I think they need a punch card system. Buy three get the fourth free. The store is beautifully designed and just the right size so you aren't overwhelmed. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable about the designs available. Fun fact; if you go to another store to buy a pair and they don't have the right prescription you can bring them here and they will make it in the right one for a small fee. read more

I have several pairs of Eyebobs. In the last year, I switched to EyeBuyDirect because all of my Eyebob glasses developed significant scratches in the middle of the lens which made wearing them impossible. Yes, I probably wasn't handling them delicately enough, but even after almost a year, my EyeBuyDirect glasses have zero scratches on the lenses and I'm doing nothing differently. And the prices are better. And they're recommended by the New York Times. It has to be the type of lens material. All I know is I won't be buying any more Eyebobs. read more

Some optical stores carry eyebobs but if you want an endless selection of glasses to choose from take the time and make a trip to the eyebobs warehouse.Trust me you won't regret it and there's a good chance you'll come home with more than just one pair of glasses. Whenever you are in need of a funky, high quality pair of reading glasses call the warehouse and set up an appointment. That will assure that an optician will be there when you arrive. They will help you with the fit and selection of your new lenses. I've worked with Jason on several occasions and he's outstanding and extremely knowledgeable. Moral of the story... if you, your mother or bestie are looking for that new pair of reading glasses... don't look any further than eyebobs. read more

Summary: Still a "five" It was a sad day when I broke my most-excellent black Ornery reading glasses. :-( I was about to order another pair from Eyebobs, when I noticed on their site that they might be able to repair the wreckage, so I carefully packaged the remains up and sent them off. Two days later, I got a new pair (I said new as in brand-spankin' NEW) delivered to my doorstep! Needless to say, I was blown away. Eyebobs went *way* beyond my expectations - so much so, that I'm going to get another pair of readers (something different, funky and cool) to leave in the car so that I'll never be sightless. Okay, full disclosure: eyebobs is a client of mine. That being said, I was a loyal eyebobs wearer long before they became my client, so I feel very comfortable giving them a review. I was introduced to eyebobs years ago by a co-worker, who alerted me to them as inexpensive, yet incredibly high quality frames -- she popped out the reader lenses and put her prescription in them. It was so brilliant, that I followed suit and I couldn't be happier. I still have my original pair of Co-conspirators (which are 6 years old now!)...along with many, many other pairs. I think I might be up to 8 frames at this point, including two pairs of sunglasses. (Prescription sunglasses changed my life.) I've also recommended them to my parents and tons of other people in my life who wanted/needed readers but wanted them to be more stylish than what you'd find at the drugstore. Wanted to add a quick message. I love eyebobs. I bought my first pair in 2003 on a trip to Minneapolis and have purchased at least 15 pairs over the last oh so many years (I've lost a few sadly and have had to retire a few. I'm no longer 40 so I'm no longer 1.0). Every single pair is the highest of quality. I even use eyebobs for my 'regular' glasses (Katie Couric's Close Up). I buy all of my glasses on the Eyebobs website. You get a case, a glass cloth and they ship really quickly. Customer service is extremely responsive if you ever have questions. Wish every on-line store was as responsive and eager to serve. Love my red "torte reform" I bought on sale this year. So did a woman who saw them on me at the Norstrom today. She offered to buy them from me. RIGHT OFF OF MY FACE!! I declined. Can't get a better endorsement than that... read more

Eyebobs- Love the style hate the quality! Have numerous pairs. They stretch out, fade, melt and say they are prescription quality. Not true! When contacted customer service made excuses and blamed opticians and wearers not themselves. Sent in 1 pair that was faded and stretched out of shape. Sent back a little tighter and said that was all they can do. Another pair melted at a reputable optician. They DO NOT STAND BEHIND THE QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCT! Cannot comment on their product but, my sister gave me a gift certificate for Christmas. I cannot use it as I cannot buy glasses over the internet and none of their frames were of a style I would wear. Not putting down their styles, they are just not to my taste. I called and asked that they cancel the gift card and refund my sister and was told the people who could do that were away for the Holidays. Have since sent numerous e-mails and included all of the information they needed (order number, gift card number) but have never received the courtesy of a response. They may have a wonderful product but I have seen no sign of any customer service and think it would be responsible business practice to confirm they have issued a refund. They have never issued any product so it is not as if they had to take anything back in return. They simply have to reverse a credit card charge and confirm they have done so. An update on 1/22. I was fortunate enough to reach Katie at Eyebobs who was extremely helpful and got things taken care of so my review goes to 4 stars due to her involvement which I would give 5 stars to her alone. read more

Nicole at Eyebobs is fantastic. I brought in my year old eyebobs readers with a broken hinge (large dog caused it). She couldn't fix it, so put my lenses in a brand new frame at no cost! I was blown away. She's the best. My wife got a new prescription pair, and I got new sunnies too. Highly recommend eyebobs for readers or prescription glasses. Called Eyebob's to set up an eye exam, they told me to come in for my appointment at 5:30. I called when I was on my way to ask where they were located in Mall of America. Then the nice lady on the phone tells me they close their eye exams after 6...even though they gave me the time of 5:30 for my appointment. Then after its all set and done, I got charged for the eye exam even though I was buying my glasses through Eyebob's. It was very frustrating because I got the name of the lady who set up my appointment and she was in the store watching me argue with the front desk person and wouldn't admit she told me that information. Luckily, I love my glasses I purchased and will plan on buying another from there in the future, but just not a great first impression. read more

Have been buying and wearing eyebobs for years. I recently lost my favorite pair, and repurchased them. Within a month, I noticed there appeared to be wearing around the inside of the frames, and around the nose area, and some on the arms. Having them less than a month, I returned them. They said it was makeup and did the best they could to fix them. In the meantime, I found the pair I misplaced, and realized after having this pair for several years, they were not marked up in those areas. They insisted it was makeup. Even it is was makeup, my original pair was not marked up, and feel there must have been something wrong with the new pair...perhaps a finish was missing...or something was wrong. When I got the "fixed" pair back, I did not feel they were "fixed". I am very disappointed in eyebobs. I thought you were bigger and better than that. read more

I received an eyebobs catalog last summer and liked one of their reading glass styles. I thought they were very expensive compared to ones I'd bought at the "drugstore," but I gave them a try. When the right temple fell off soon after I received them, I returned the glasses and waited (7-10 working days, standard) for them to be repaired. The temple was re-attached, but drooping, so I took it to my local LensCrafters to get it corrected. Several months later, the right temple fell off again. I contacted eyebobs about this, telling them I was dissatisfied with their product and service, and asked for a refund. They said the warranty period has passed (30 days?). I told them I'd never had such a problem with "drugstore " glasses for which I'd paid 1/3 as much. They said they didn't care. Would I like the glasses returned to me? No. I suppose if you have five pairs stashed away, as they suggest while you're on hold for customer service, you wouldn't care, but I don't have $70+ a piece for that. read more

Ive bought eyeglasses from eye bobs via a local optician who sells them in her shop. first i want to say that i love the styles of frames they offer, very funky and cool, and reasonably priced for the good quality. my most recent purchase was a pair that has bamboo temples. i looked at them and read the details on eye bobs website, and no where did it say anything about them needing any special care etc. It turns out that these bamboo temples can not be adjusted, and they can not get wet. not getting them wet i could deal with, although its definitely an inconvenience, but the temples are very tight and adjusting just the front of the glasses did not loosen them enough. So i realized i had bought a pair of glasses that i could not use. at least i realized this before i got the rx in them! i contacted eye bobs via email and was told that i could not return them to eye bobs, i would have to check with the optician i bought them from and see if they take them back. i was very nice in my email and had fully explained that i had no idea these frames could not be adjusted or get wet since there is no mention on the site. the person who emailed me back did not care at all. she sent me a link to the return policy on the website, as if I'm an idiot and didn't bother to read it even though i was clearly on their website since thats how i contacted them. I was aware of the return policy and that they don't typically take returns that weren't bought from them directly, i just felt that it was eye bobs fault for not providing the information about these frames, and i was hoping they would take them back and at least credit me to another pair i could adjust right. even after speaking to a supervisor, i got nowhere and zero concern was shown for their unhappy customer. I am so disappointed that a company with such amazing style and reasonable prices has such poor customer service. its not like i just decided i don't like the frames, i love them actually and hate to not be able to wear them. but how was i supposed to know they couldn't be sized if the info isn't on the website? luckily the optician will take them back, its just a bit of a hassle for me since i don't live all that close to the shop i purchased them in. it would have been much easier just to send them back to eye bobs. i get several compliments a week on my eye bobs and i was recommending the company to a lot of people, but i won't do that anymore. the frames are great looking, and my first pair is working very well, so i can see why there are positive reviews. unfortunately once i needed customer service and they were not helpful, i felt differently. read more

I have had 3 pairs of glasses made by Eyebobs and they are the best. The plethora of very unique designs ensures that they have something for everyone. It's refreshing to see a company who doesn't churn out products that are "safe" but focus on products that are interesting and different. I recently scratched a lens on my glasses and ordered a new pair. I decided to get the old pair repaired to act as my secondary glasses. Michael Macias has been corresponding with me via email and he is super responsive. So many companies today try to automate everything and make you go through some series of forms on their website or they send you canned emails that obviously came from a robot. It's been really great to get some good old fashioned support from someone who really cares about their customers. Keep up the good work you plucky Minnesotans. read more

They used to be fun looking, but not anymore. So disappointed to see lack of selection for many of their styles. I have always bought "Adult Supervision" as they are the only frames that look good on me. Used to have fun color choices, but now, no choice - just boring tortoise with black sides. I am in love with my Eyebob's. I've had my "Old Money" Tortoiseshell reading glasses for a couple of years now. I am bad and often wear them on top of my head when not in use. Unlike every other pair of reading glasses I've owned these do not stretch out. They hold their shape, don't get tweaked sideways even when used every day. The styles they offer are fun and different and the optical quality is great. I get compliments at least once a week and often more than that on these glasses. The customer service is fantastic, always so helpful and nice. Just lost one pair while on a hike when I fell and didn't realize it till much later, I came right home and ordered a replacement pair. Get a pair, or two, you will be so glad you did!!! read more

After buying 5 pair of glasses for my self and 1 for my wife (she is not a fan of the Eyebob styles). Without writing a book the main problem is customer service. Very rude when I questioned them about returning a Lanyard that simply came apart after about three month's of occasional use. Short story WE are done. read more

I bought my glasses at the Mall of America. About 2 weeks after I picked them up I was not real happy with the glasses, they were a little narrow for my face. I contacted them about it, they told me to bring them back and they will make it right. I went on line and made a list of other frames I liked. They were so very helpful when I walked in. They knew where each frame I asked for was. I found one that fit me great. They re-took my eye measurements and I was on my way. Zero hassle. They could not have been nicer! My new glasses were ready about 5 days ahead of schedule. Both my wife and daughter need new glasses - no question they will be getting them from Eyebobs. read more

Horrific customer service. I have been a long time customer, but after a recent experience with customer service (Matthew) I will stay away. Had a problem with a new pair right after purchase..they agreed to repair as long as I paid to pay for shipping. Waited 5 weeks for the repair to be done. After receiving the repaired glasses I noticed, that they were different magnification. I was told that he (Matthew) spoke with the technician and assured me that they replaced the lenses. However...now they claim that when my package was received it was already open and that they built me a pair from "scratch"...If the package was indeed empty why wasn't I told. All previous communication was by email. Sad but true. Personally, I think this is less a reflection on the company and more on the ineptness of the people who handled the claim. read more
