GREAT place two pare of glasses for600 bucks! Nice sun glasses! Two ladies where nice had glasses guick!

Uptown Vision is the best. Years ago, I was part owner of optical stores in South Florida. Thus, I know the good from the bad. Uptown Vision is honest, corrects any lab errors (which is unbelievably common and the bane of every optical business), and offers better prices than the chain stores. In fact, Uptown Vision's prices beat almost everyone in the Twin Cities. Becca, the manager, is a fashion maven who knows what's in style and what fits your face. I am too particular, especially about tints, and Uptown Vision carefully reviews my color choices and shading percentages. Their frame selection is au courant, and they offer Blackfin, Masunaga, Andy Wolf, Maui Jim, and Dita, amongst others. Their optometrist is empathetic, listens, and thorough, plus Uptown Vision accepts most insurance policies. Trust me, it's the way to go in the Twin Cities. read more

I ordered new eyeglasses. Paid $600 plus 6 trips for adjustments. The adjustment doesn't hold for more than 3-4 hours. I requested a new pair or a refund. They refused Please Do not go there. They will rob your blind and then ignore your concerns. read more

Gave this place multiple chances, but not the way you do healthcare. My contacts where back ordered for four weeks and they didn't notify me and they seemed annoyed I was asking. I also had an appointment they said I canceled and made no effort to accommodate. Over all a lot of better places for eye care in mpls! read more

For months, I got headaches when spending any amount of time on the computer or my phone. Finally, after weeks of procrastination, I went to the eye doctor. Doctors of any kind have always made me nervous. The women working in this clinic were so friendly and kind! I was able to be seen within 20 minutes and was given all the information I needed. I got my prescription and was sent on my way. So great! read more

Not much to add which has not already been stated. Suffice to say if you are looking for an all-around exceptional eye clinic, this is definitely the place to go. My husband and I have been Dr. Swenson's patients' for the last three years. She is thorough, kind and listens to her patients. I can honestly say as someone who has worn glasses, contacts, and had laser vision correction, this is the most detailed, complete eye examination I have ever had. Hands down, the best ophthalmologist in the Twin Cities, period. Veronica and Jean are also wonderful. Patient and great at helping select new frames whether you are wanting conservative or trendy. Again, best all-around eye clinic. Enough said! read more

Pleasant exam, nice staff, beautiful clinic. We brought our daughter here for an exam today based on the great Yelp reviews. We had a very nice experience. POSITIVE: Dr. Swenson gave our daughter a super thorough exam. All of their equipment is state-of-the-art. The doctor was also very pleasant and patient, taking time to answer all of our questions. The rest of the staff were also nice. The clinic is very beautiful. The building itself has a cool original mid century design. It also features off-street parking...a nice feature for uptown. The inside of the clinic was also very beautiful. Everything and everyone has a definite hipster vibe. NEGATIVE: It took over two weeks to get an appointment. Also, it cost $172 for an exam. My last exam was at Sam's Club. Sam's got me an appointment in one day, only cost $76, the exam was just as thorough, and the doctor was just as nice. The decor wasn't as nice at Sam's Club though. Next time, we're going to take her to Sam's which is 5 minutes away (instead of 45 minutes), and costs 100 dollars less. We aren't snobby. Our eye place doesn't need to be cool. -Daddy Maxx Retro read more

I recently purchased some new prescription sunglasses here and I was extremely pleased with the stylists at Uptown Vision! They were kind and helpful from start to finish. Their expertise in fashion and fitting really came through! I had heard really good things about the frame brands they carried and I am so glad I decided to check them out! I am sure I will return for future eyewear needs! read more

A week after a cursory, NOT thorough exam by an eye doctor at Edina Eye Physicians, my right eye's vision went kaput a week later (that doctor sent me on my way telling me to buy over-the-counter drops). When my right eye went all blurry/filmy, instead of going back to Edina Eye, I went to Dr. Swenson (based on these reviews). She did a thorough exam, walked me through some bad news (she found what the Edina Eye doctor missed), and helped me find a treatment plan (which involved pulling in a cornea specialist). I can't say enough about how helpful, thorough, and kind Dr. Swenson was. And here is the kicker: when I got the bill for the Edina Eye exam (which was a 3 minute, cursory check), it was $260 ($134 my portion after insurance). When I got the bill for the Uptown exam (thorough, hour-long, every test done), it was $112 ($53 my portion after insurance). Excellent care at a fair, honest price. read more

I'm another glasses-wearer that had been putting off getting an exam for 8 years, and needed an updated prescription and specs. I've used Lenscrafters & Vision World in the past. The last go-round at Lenscrafters, I brought my prescription and they were 1-hour turn around. But I accepted compromises on my lenses (replaced Rayban-brand lenses with generics for my sunglasses), and the frame fit wasn't quite perfect (probably not the fault of the optician, just the natural rush in a busy location). So this time I resolved to go the extra mile and use a local independent clinic and wait for my specs to be properly produced. The staff was great, as was Dr. Swensen. My Vision Service Plan coverage was honored (and they'd pre-verified for me that I had functional coverage before I'd even booked the appt). I paid only a routine copay for the exam, but I did chose to pay $30 extra for a detailed exam & reading of my retina state. At my age, I found the discussion with Dr. Swensen during the extra retina exam to be valuable and informative. As to frame selection, they had a reasonable array of styles and price points. It wasn't 'huge' compared to some large mall stores, but it was more than suitable for my tastes and I _sincerely_ appreciated the personal service of the lady that helped me choose frames. She assisted extensively with helping me locate a style that suited my face and preferences. I was more than happy with her input. I'll admit that I opted for a more expensive glasses frame and sunglasses. But I knew that I was going to be paying a fair amount, and it was clear less expensive options were available. From my perspective, my eyes and ability to see are probably my most valuable sense; I'm willing to pay a fair amount for this niche. Esp. if I use these glasses for another x years. :D My glasses took approximately a week to complete - they tested and caught an issue with the as-delivered prescription on the sunglasses, and sent them back immediately to be corrected, before I was contacted to pick my glasses up. The sunglasses took approx. another 4 days as I recall. The optician that fitted both my glasses and sunglasses (separate days and a different staff member than the lady that assisted me with picking frames) did a thorough job and ensured that they fit great! I've had badly-fitted and/or badly-prescripted lenses in the past, and sincerely appreciated the attention to detail and verification that my new specs were working and fitting properly. I will absolutely be going Dr. Swensen and the Uptown Vision Clinic for my annual checkup next year! :) read more

I've been going to Dr. Swenson at Uptown Vision Clinic since I moved to Minneapolis a number of years ago, not having much to go off of I simply picked the place closest to where I live so I could minimize the chances of getting pulled over after getting my eyes dilated post eye exam. Okay, okay I was just being lazy. :) That said, Uptown Vision is fantastic. They've been great about answering all my questions and working with me to explore all the options available to me. They work directly with my insurance company, including ordering my contact lenses which are covered under my plan and I always leave my annual exam having learned something new about eye health and my vision. Highly recommended! read more

I've been wearing glasses since middle school and been to various of vision clinics ranging from hospitals, national chain, online retailers, to local stores. Uptown vision is simply the best place that I have been to. It's truly a tailored experience where the professionals there ensure that your fitment is perfect. Some glasses I had in the past from various other places caused me discomfort initially and takes me a while to get use to them, but I had zero break in periods from the two different pairs I got at Uptown Vision. They really make sure that the lenses are aligned with your eyes considering the frame you chose. read more

Had a great experience again at Uptown. Staff is professional and courteous and the doctors are knowledgable and helpful.

The best eye exam I've ever received. Very thorough. Dr Maffitt was friendly, didn't rush me and answered all my questions.

I had to move to Minneapolis to find my all-time favorite eye clinic, but I'm very glad that I did.

I highly recommend Uptown Vision. I have been going there for years (as does everyone in my bespectacled family) and we couldn't be happier with the great service and friendliness of the staff. They routinely go above and beyond my expectations. read more

I have been going to Uptown Vision Clinic for approximately ten years...so I have ten year's worth of COMPLIMENTS to share! I'll do it the easy way... 1.) The Staff ROCKS! They really, really care about your vision and if you are happy with your contacts or glasses. I guess that sums it up. They will know you by name and greet you when you arrive. The doctors are thorough and nice. They have always been great to me, and now my son is seeing them for his vision needs. When I come in with my son, Jean prints kids jokes off the computer and teaches them to him. (He still tells the one about Batman and Robin, Jean.) Once I purchased a pair of glasses thinking I had hit the nail on the head with style and design. Six months later when I went back for contact replenishment, they asked how the glasses were working. I said I never wore them ...for a variety of reasons pertaining to the color and cut of the frame....Jean said, give them to me. She put them away, I never saw them again...and started over and got something that worked!! Now that's when my impression of them skyrocketed. I am pretty sure I have purchased four pairs of glasses since then and many pairs of contacts. Get your prescription and go there...or better yet, make your next checkup with Dr. Sabre or Dr. Swenson...seriously, your eyes will thank you! read more

Amazing experience. Highly recommend Dr. Kari Maffitt--very thorough and friendly!

I have been a patient of Dr. Sabre for over 20 years. I first visited him when I moved to the Twin Cities from New York City and he was able to solve a problem I'd had when no one in New York could! Although I've moved out of state twice, I have always flown back for checkups with Dr. Sabre. And as if having great eye care isn't enough, check out the frames. Jean, (his wife) has exquisite taste and is really helpful about what works for you. If only every doctor experience could be like this....... Shelley S. read more

My family has been going to Uptown Vision Clinic since late 1980's. We feel like family more than patients. The eye exams are as thorough and gentle that you know they really care for you. Now picking out glasses are the best part of the process. They will let you know what works for you and what doesn't. If you want people to comment on how great your glasses look on you, this is the place to go. I have been Uptown Vision forever, and never heard a bad thing about them. read more

I have been a patient here for over 25 years. The service and professionalism is exceptional and would be hard to match. Dr. Sabre, Dr. Swenson, Dr. Maffitt, Jean, Veronica - every one of them is knowledgeable, helpful, kind, and go WAY above and beyond. I took a break and went somewhere else once over 10 years ago because it was closer to home and that provider took my insurance and at the time Uptown Vision didn't. I came right back the next year and paid out of pocket to see Dr. Sabre because it was that important to me to have someone good who I completely trusted. They listen, they care, they are well informed on the latest in eye health and the newest trends plus the tried and true. Honestly, I think Jean would do whatever it takes to make the patient/customer happy. I recommend Uptown Vision to people no matter where they live. It's worth the drive! read more

Dr. Sabre is simply an outstanding doc. He is thorough, attentive, and takes the time to get to know you and understand your particular situation and concerns in every exam. This clinic is great! I had been referred to Uptown Vision Clinic by a friend of mine and they did not disappoint. I had a very thorough eye exam with Dr. Kari Maffitt. She answered all of my questions and explained any suggestions she had. I thought their hours were really helpful as they are open later than 5:00 during the week. I thought the location was great (I don't live far away) and was very happy with my exam and the interactions with the staff at the front desk. Highly recommend! read more

Came here 2 years ago after a poor experience with a different Twin Cities eye clinic and haven't looked back since! The whole experience is great - easy to schedule, no long wait times to get an appointment, the clinic feels clean and homey, and the doctors and staff are friendly. Dr. Swenson is extremely thorough and addresses the eye holistically, which I really appreciate. I can honestly say I've had an improvement in eye health since my first visit! read more

Uptown is top notch when it comes to customer service. My most recent frames were destroyed by kids, and I brought them in to get fixed. 5 months after I dropped them off (was living off my emergency set) I stopped in to see if they had the replacement set, and as it turns out they had to send the replacement frames back to the manufacturing company because it had been so long. After stopping in and discussing the situation with Veronica they went to work to get my new frames scheduled again. Literally 24 hours later they had my glasses ready to pick up. That is service, and why I'll keep going back there even though it's not close to home. Thank you Veronica and Uptown Vision for your attention to detail and your top notch customer service!! read more

I love Uptown Vision, and have been a patient for over 30 years. The doctors are wonderful, and the extra care and service you get is beyond compare. Last Thanksgiving my son (who used to be a patient there until he moved) came home to visit and had forgotten his daily contacts. Uptown consistently provides excellent service and expert counsel for my eyes and optical needs, as they have for more than 15 years. Uptown Vision (Dr. Sabre) is as good as it gets--you will not find a better eye doctor who will work to get your vision to be as perfect as you hope it to be--and he has so much patience. He will spend as much time with you as needed and will not stop working until you are absolutely positive about loving your glasses/contacts/prescription, etc. This is coming from someone who has worn glasses/contacts for 31 years--he is THE BEST. Jean and Veronica are also superb in the eyeglass department. Double thumbs up!!! read more

I just went to Uptown Vision Clinic and I was so impressed! Dr. Swenson and Jean were amazing! Jean told me what looked good and I pretty much believed her. The next day after ordering my glasses I had second thoughts ( I have no idea why?) They told me to come in and we could look at the glasses I ordered and the other one's I was looking at. Jean was so gracious when I came back in. She got the glasses out that I had been looking at and the one's I ordered. No second thoughts this time, she was right. Thank you all! I had a wonderful experience and will be going back to get my sun glasses! Thanks again! read more

I had a great experience getting my eyes checked at Uptown Vision clinic. The staff was VERY helpful when I had to pick out glasses; which would have been a nightmare for me otherwise.
