They fixed my glasses (which I didn't buy here) for free. Plus the Optometrist had a cool dinosaur shirt.

Karla returned from a scheduled break & was EXTREMELY helpful & patient when helping me pick out glasses. She gave me so many options & went through every detail & price. I probably tried on every pair of glasses in there. I will say it was a bit pricey, but maybe that's because the price bracket my glasses came & the add ons that Karla convinced me to get. All in all though. I got what I WANTED & need fur that matter!

The first pair of glasses I bought from them had the completely wrong prescription in them. Then the first time I ordered contacts I got a notification to review my contacts when I hadn't even been told they were ready so I called to verify and they said they weren't in, I stopped by about a week later as I found it odd they weren't in yet and was told by the manager that they were stuck overseas, then two days later got a call that if I didn't come get my contacts right away they were no longer willing to hold them for me. Second time I ordered contacts I decided to have them shipped to maybe avoid confusion, but then got a call that they were waiting for me in store, so I went in and then they proceeded to not be able to find the contacts, an employee and the manager confused looking around and yelling back and forth for about 10 minutes as I waited awkwardly. Then the last time I called to order contacts the manager took my call and when I asked for 6 months worth she proceeded to give me attitude saying last time I ordered contacts she'd explained to me to get a years worth and if I'd just done that instead of 6 months I wouldn't need to be calling again right now. Excuse me? I knew my insurance would re-up and cover more contacts in 6 months when I'd originally called - but I also should not feel like I need to explain that to someone, especially not a manager. Throughout all of this time, any experience in store has been incredibly unprofessional. Employees loudly having personal conversations across the store and ignoring patients. Consistently having difficulties verifying insurance and making it seem like it's the patient's fault. When an employee doesn't know something they just yell back and forth instead of pausing a personal conversation, getting up and coming over to help one another. Unsure if it's lack of training, but it is incredibly frustrating and I've officially given up and won't be returning.

In a word: SUPERB!!…read more Some background: for many years I saw an optometrist in downtown Minneapolis on Marquette Avenue - and an old but wise eye doctor! He used old lenses that he pulled from a case to check vision, but had new equipment to check for eye pressure too - the best of both worlds. More than anything else, he was friendly and genuinely concerned about my vision and me as a patient and I was saddened when he retired. The past several years I've opted for the corporate giants for exams, but this year I decided to look for a real private practice and found one right down the street! I'm adding all of this because I was so surprised by how much Dr Tyler reminded me of that optometrist! Dr. Tyler did a great job with his exam and he spent a chunk of time with me. His effort to answer questions and explain what he found in the exam was way over and above what I've gotten used to the past years - like I said: Superb!! I'd recommend him to anyone that wants a better and more thorough experience, who appreciates quality care, and who enjoys a great "bedside" (chair-side) manner!

Upon speaking with the eye shop connected to them, I said I wanted to keep my silhouette frames and asked what it would cost for high-index, progressives lenses with transitions and blue-light blocking. I was told it would be upward of $700, to which I asked, for "just the lenses?" She responded yes. I'm a senior who cannot afford that so I began looking online. I needed a PD number. I called Southdale Optical to see if I could come in and get it since they already charged my insurance for an exam and didn't put it on my prescription. I was told the doctors at Southdale Optical do not measure for PD, that I would have to go to their optical shop for that. I informed her I couldn't afford to get my glasses at their shop and was ordering online. She then informed me I'd have to pay to have it measured if I chose to buy my glasses online. Research informed me there are only three states that require eye doctors to give a PD measurement, Alaska, Massachusetts and New Mexico. In the future, I will be inquiring about a PD number before I make an appointment. Meanwhile, I guess I will get new frames (that I don't like near as much as my Silhouettes) and high-index, progressive, blu-blocking lenses from Costco, (who unfortunately won't replace lenses in frameless silhoutte frames) for about $250. Lesson learned.

The new technician was very nice; she did a whole bunch of tests, photos, took pressure in my eyes, etc. Then Dr. Vang comes in, and he is also very nice and thorough. He dilates and examined my eyes. After the appointment, I was checking out, when another front desk person (NOBODY at the clinic wears name tags) told me that my balance is $39.62. When I asked him why I am being charged for a "free annual eye exam", he said that "we took a photo of your eyes so you don't have to be dilated". I said that I WAS dilated by 2 sets of eye drops. That person, Brad (I had to ask for his name as he was VERY rude and frustrated, for some reason), throws the papers, goes back to speak with the doctor, and comes back, saying that "he needed to do both photos and dilation". When I asked for a reason for that, he said that he does not know, he will check, and that he is not going "to fight with you". Then he reverses the charges because of their mistake, and, without any apologies, hands the papers back to me. NO EXPLANATIONS, NO APOLOGIES, NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. I would have given this place a 1 star, but because of the rest of the staff that were nice, I am giving a 3/5. I am not going to that place again: Brad, don't be a Brat; even if you have a bad day, do not take it out on patients. Maybe, this job is stressful for him.
