I explained this and said it's possible I'm a couple minutes late, in which the woman on the phone asked, and she used the word EXACTLY how many minutes late...I don't know? She tells me if I'm 10 minutes late I have to reschedule. No friendliness, no concern or empathy. I should have turned around then. I understand policy, but a little friendly customer service would have gone a long way. During my appt I said I didn't want my eyes dilated, I don't know the driving conditions, this doctor turns on the sales pitch. Says there's a machine to use instead but doesn't disclose that there's an additional fee until I ask. I decline, he tells me I can drive with my eyes dilated (eyes are already sensitive dilated, let's throw a thunderstorm in the mix). I decline, I don't feel I need this as I had them dilated under a year ago and all was good, he then says he'll use a "light" solution to dilate them. At this point, I just gave in. At the end as I'm in the parking lot, a front desk woman comes out yelling my name to call me back. She said I had a copay I still owe, when I asked why they wouldn't tell me this at the start of the appt or collect it then, she just said it's not how it's done...so embarrass the customer is how it's done, okay, got it. This place is a joke.

"The Doctor" and a reception lady greeted me very rudely! I was told "You have NO insurance!" This was NOT TRUE and I gave this information to the scheduler on the phone the day prior. Apparently, I was scheduled after this " billing person " had left for the day and the scheduler didn't enter the information. I was told I had to reschedule and I decline. I told them both my insurance was given prior and I was delayed 3 minutes due to the construction and the rain storm. VERY RUDE ANGRY DOCTOR and this was my 1st impression.

I tried to wear it the night I got it to Slander but not even a mile outside, I saw streaks of lights or rays coming out of every light sources. From lamps and car lights. Today 12/3 between 12-1pm, I brought it back and Tom accused me of taking my glasses home the first time around when it was him who I gave my glasses to to replace the frame. Then he said he couldn't replicate my problem. I also heard him and an eye tech laughing about my problem behind the counter. I told them it was AT NIGHT. NIGHT. Geez. They don't listen at all and WAS MAKING FUN OF ME. This Tom guy gave me an attitude the first second he saw me. I don't understand why. It is not my fault for having to visit this place this many times. On 10/09, I ordered 2 pair of glasses. One was to be ordered because they didn't have it in stock. The lady told me it'll come in a week. Within 2 days, 10/11, they texted me that my glasses were ready. For some odd reason, my phone received it but I don't remembered seeing it. For a whole month not a single person bothered to text or call me again to pick up glasses. The whole time I thought it they were just busy. That's why I waited a whole month. I eventually picked it up. But here comes the sus part. After I got home from picking it up, I noticed that one of the frame was all scratched up on the front. I immediately brought it back the next day. The dude told me they did not have it in stock and it will take at least a week. I then realized that they MUST'VE used the DISPLAY FRAME instead of ordering the new frame a month ago. That's how they got my glasses done in 2 days. Now, it's all just speculation but everything kinda adds up. Hopefully my new frame will be scratch free!

It was that time of year again.. time to get an eye and contacts exam and buy new everything. I…read morealways dread this because my prescription is so awful and changes every year, so I always need a new contact prescription and new glasses. On top of that, I hate wearing glasses because even after paying extra for the thinner lens, my lenses are so thick that I look ridiculous wearing them. This year was different. My insurance changed so I looked for a new eye care place near our home in Maplewood. I came across this location and chose it because they had Saturday hours and good deals through my insurance. My eye exam was quick and painless, and I came out with a new glasses and contacts prescription. I went to pick our glasses. Instead of searching through a ton of mediocre frames and waiting in line for what seems forever to get someone to assist you, I was helped quickly by someone that understands my style and need for a frame that goes well with my thick lenses. She walked me through all of my options and got me the cheapest set of the best glasses possible (anti reflective, thinner lenses, the whole 9 yards). After ordering them, I was led to the counter where I also ordered contacts and was given a rebate form to send in once I received them. A week later, my contacts arrived at my home and less than two weeks later, my glasses arrived. They are amazing! For literally years, probably 15 to give perspective, I've only worn glasses at night because I hate how I couldn't see as well with them and how bad they looked on me. Now I wear them whenever my eyes are tired or just for fun! It's so nice to be able to give my eyes a break, especially when I work overnights or long hours in the hospital. I highly recommend this place. They have a huge selection of awesome glasses, service is quick and painful, and the staff are all super nice and eager to help. So glad I came here!

So it took a lot of research to find a SKILLED optician with full medical training. I wanted to AVOID at all cost going to a MASS MERCHANT like Pearle Vision, etc etc. I was shocked to find Dr Alan Lee's shop and practice so close to 94 East on White Bear Lake Road, and it was SPACIOUS modern with a carefully planned broad selection of glass frames from designer to moderate. (They also carry contact lenses.) I have a background years ago in fashion merchandising ( BloomingdalesNYC right out of college), and i found the selection surprisingly very good. Dr Lee majored in biology and neurobiology at U of Wisconsin Madison Med School and received his Doctor of Optometry in Boston at the highly respected New England College of Optometry. He was relaxed, friendly, not rushed and carefully checked all details of my prescription and exact placement of the various complex components of my special lenses. He has an assistant to help and appointments are advised. They accept all insurance and i had zero problems with this process. I received my new frames and lenses in less than 2 weeks. This is a rare find.
