We were happy to discover Huxley Optical yesterday while shopping. It has a different look and feel than most optical places. They offer unique eye wear at straightforward pricing. The male and female frames are mixed together. One part of the store had progressive bifocals available for $249; the other side had them for $349, depending on the frames. The gentleman in the store was very friendly and helpful, but not pushy. He brought over several mirrors as we were trying on glasses. We liked the frame selection. They had many frames I could see myself ordering. The frames are just sitting willy nilly on shelves, which makes trying them on easy. They could use a few more mirrors in the place. While we didn't order a pair, I could see myself returning to Huxley and giving them a try. We were pleased with our first experience in the store. read more

Wow, these folks have stellar customer service! I went window shopping with my best friend, who bought two pairs of glasses (for the price she normally paid for one pair at her doctor's office) for an incredible deal the store was offering. Of course, I couldn't keep my hands off the cute designer frames, though I'm normally a committed contact lens wearer. Much to my chagrin, I get the lecture each time from my eye doctor to have a back up pair of frames. I will definitely be back to browse once I get my prescription after my annual exam. read more

I stopped at a few places before Huxley and decided to buy here because of the amazing customer service, local ownership, and reasonable prices. I ended up buying a pair of Rx glasses and Rx sunglasses and love both! I don't have the easiest prescription so always appreciate a lower frame cost and Huxley offers many stylish options at reasonable prices. I always rely on the staff to know their inventory and guide me to the styles that I like and what they think will look good since they see more glasses on people than I do. The two working there when I stopped in were so helpful, offering many options for me to try on and adjusting suggestions based on what I dis/liked. I love this store - they have the best selection of glasses, great pricing and a great staff. My family has bought multiple pairs of glasses there and I continues to be impressed. I have searched high and low at big box stores, warehouse stores, optical chains and specialty optical shops and have not found anything close to the selection at Huxley. Awesome local eyewear business! You can instantly tell Tj and Ryan are passionate about their work. I got a pair of glasses back in the summer of 2013 and have been wearing them EVERY SINGLE DAY since then. I love them so much I've been putting on replacing them. I live in California now, but I won't shop anywhere else for frames - I'm waiting until I go back to get a new pair. They have such a wide selection of frames - there's something for everyone. Both of their stores are well laid out and have some awesome artwork! Tj is superb at picking out the right frames for your face too - he actually picked out a pair of sunglasses, sent them to me without any other reference and I was shocked at how well they looked (I'm picky). First off - love the small local feel of Huxley. I sought this spot out because of the awesome yelp reviews and it didn't disappoint! The customer service is stellar - helpful, friendly and honest. I must have tried on half the glasses in the store and TJ hung in there til I found my pair! I got a pair of Huxley Optical glasses about 6 months ago and I love them. There was a lot of selection and the guys in there helped me find a pair I really liked. It was cool because once I narrowed it down they went and found some similar ones to make sure I had found the exact frames I wanted. Overall- really helpful people and nice selection. Huxley is a fantastic place to get your glasses from. Me and my stepmom came into Huxley at the rosedale mall since I was prescribed a new glasses prescription. I didn't like the idea of getting new glasses because I wasn't able to find a pair I liked. The owner was there and helped us pick a few pairs and I found a pair I actually really liked. They have great customer service and really do anything to make sure you're satisfied. Unfortunately the person who prescribed me got the prescription completely wrong and broke my original glasses (not at all related to Huxley), and I got a new prescription (hoping it's the correct one since it came from the place that originally prescribed my glasses) and went back to see what could be done about fixing the glasses lense I was now in love with what I had gotten at Huxley. The owner was beyond helpful and I'm hoping when I get my glasses back, they'll be the right prescription and I can be on my merry way. I was getting daily complements on the glasses I got here before I knew the prescription was wrong and wasn't my eyes just adjusting and I seriously cannot wait to get my glasses back. I know you're reading this review (and other reviews) right now, trying to figure out if these guys are legit or not and if you should get your new glasses from them...easy answer. You should. Huxley has amazing customer service. They know what they're talking about, and they won't stop helping you until you've found what you want (which you WILL find at Huxley). They almost always offer you some sort of deal on the glasses as well, but even if they don't, there prices are still VERY reasonable. They are polite, up-to-date on trends, and know how to run a business. Go support them so they can keep running this amazing store! This place has a nice selection of glasses and friendly but incompetent service. Ordered glasses here in summer 2015. By fall one of the lenses was beginning to pop out. Took them in before thanksgiving, they offered to order a brand new pair to replace. Great! Never heard from them again. Followed up before Christmas, they couldn't find the new pair in their jumbled box, and had lost any record of their offer to re-order. Guy said he would place order again and blamed a computer problem. Estimated they would arrive before the new year. Called on New Year's and the guy didn't know where the order was but "thought" they were at the lab. Still trying to get the glasses since they were promised but never shopping here again. read more

Went to Huxley for the first time today. I can safely say this is my new go-to place for glasses. There were a ton of different options to pick from and the customer service was great as I usually need help picking out a frame to fit my face, eyebrows, skin color, etc. The employee was great at selecting options for me to try on. I ended up buying two pairs of glasses, with lenses, for less than I paid for 1 pair at VisionWorks - even w/ insurance. The layout is bare bones, but the frames are stylish and the service is excellent. Prices are listed on signs placed throughout the store. I've been in situations at other shops where I have no idea what the total will be until it feels too late to change my mind. That doesn't happen at Huxley. I stumbled across this place looking for an alternative to my eye dr's selection for Rx sunglasses.. My experience here was so awesome: - Their pricing structure here is different than some places, easier to understand, and reasonable. -The guy working, who I later found out is the owner, helped me try on different sunglasses styles for an hour if not longer--who has that kind of patience?! Being a stubborn woman, I brushed off his color suggestion and explored a few other combos, only to settle on what he had suggested in the end because it really was the best choice. This guy knows his stuff! -They offer custom tints and have a great selection. I was also really impressed that they carry Proof brand eyewear, a company focused on creating stylish sustainable glasses. I purchased a pair of these and am very impressed with them. -My glasses arrived about a week earlier than quoted -The layout is unisex (wish that was the norm everywhere) I recommend this small business to everyone !!! read more

I had a really great experience here. The store is minimalist, which is actually really nice. When my husband and I walked in we were greeted right away and the person working (Ryan, I think) helped me find a pair of glasses. He asked what I was looking for and after I told him he went around the store pulling frames based on what I liked and didn't like. I ended up loving the fourth pair I tried on (tortoise-shell). But the clerk had me try on a few more pairs to make sure the pair I liked was the best pair. I was also given the benefit of a deal I saw on Amazon Local even though I hadn't purchased it. These guys are great! I purchased my frames a while ago and meant to write them a review at that time but hadn't gotten around to it. They were extremely helpful at deciding the right pair of glasses for me. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming as well. I saw the glasses I bought at several locations and Huxley Optical was sold me them for a third of the price others were asking for. My first experience with Huxley was great, TJ was wonderful and helped me pick out glasses that I love! However 5 days later I went to just check to see when they would be ready... I first called and the lady on the other line was very short, wouldn't let me finish a single sentence. I was already headed to the mall to return something else (after the phone call) and so I stopped by to see in person what day my glasses would be available. And the first thing she said to me was "I promise I was going to call you back but I guess you couldn't wait for that." I understand she was busy but it was the consistent rudeness that it was my fault I came in only a week later when it takes a lot longer than that. And it was my fault that I came in when she promised she'd call me back. I wasn't mad or anything but now I am and I will never buy Huxley glasses again. I don't put up with someone telling me it's my fault for just checking in, repeatedly. read more
