Meh. Pros: Enjoy the fact that you can obtain an eye exam fairly easy with either online scheduling or calling ahead and that they accept most insurances. Dr. Wallerich is awesome, friendly, knows his stuff, etc. Always willing to adjust glasses, the space is clean, variety of glasses to pick from, allow glasses and contacts to ship to store or home, etc. Cons: Inconsistent team members / staff and weird hidden hours. For example, I obtained a fresh eye exam and new prescription with the trial contacts. When I went to order the new prescription via phone, I could tell something was off. The staff member had ordered my old prescription which was annoying as I had to go back in, explain the situation, get a re-order, etc. It was also disappointing to learn that the internal system doesn't sync with eye exams showing me that an extra check and balance must happen for every order. Furthermore, I rushed here today to pick up my correct contact prescription and arrived to a gated environment reading, "We'll Be Back at 2:30 pm". It is 1:30 pm and I have to wait 1-hour or leave and come back. Overall, to get in here is convenient. Contrary, this place will cost you time which 100% plays a factor into my future of visiting here. Please tighten these flaws up. There is such potential and I'm losing faith. read more

Target Optical - Annoying. August 2024 - Eyewear & Opticians Near Me - St Paul, Minnesota

This clinic showed up as in-network with my vision insurance. When I called to make my appointment I tried to provide my insurance information to verify this and was told she couldn't take it over the phone and to bring it with. When I checked in I was told that they weren't in-network for contact lens exams and that I'd have to pay out of pocket. The location is convenient and I had a good experience with the doctor previously but I won't be going back after this. Staff was apologetic but didn't really do anything to fix a frustrating situation. read more

I scheduled an eye exam for the 6th and the girl taking appointments is rude and unfriendly. You need to work on your phone etiquette and customer service! She didn't even say hold on let me check my schedule she just hung the phone up and I had to call again and same girl pick up and didn't even apologize. Very very rude! read more

I have a handful of eye issues that required meds, treatments, and surgery. One issue is my pre-glucoma pressure levels, and the Dr. went above and beyond (seriously!) to make sure I had the information needed to bring to my glaucoma Dr. By doing this, he saved me a lot of pain, discomfort, headaches, etc. My glaucoma Dr. was able to get my pressures under control quickly because of this info. Brought my almost 11-year old daughter for contact lenses fitting. She is super squeamish and nervous with anything medical/eyeball related. Mariah helped her and dedicated two appointments and well over an hour of time helping her. She is absolutely amazing and so patient. If she was at all frustrated, we saw me evidence of it. I was given all of the information about the glasses and pricing. Walked out and bought some at an online retailer because it was way cheaper. read more

standing in this target right now after 15 min of waiting for them to open and the women who finally opened the shop doesn't apologize but chastises me instead. "it happens it happens" no excuse for why she's late and no apology. I work in customer service and i would never treat a customer like that. I found this Doctor and office to be absolutely fantastic. I live in another state but visit St. Paul on a regular basis and have seen this Doctor on more than one occasion. She has always been professional and never tried to "poke" my eyes to make contacts "stick". She certainly never tried to pressure me to buy contacts that I didn't need. Furthermore, she is not unhygienic in any sense, nor did I feel threatened that I would obtain an infection - the office is sterile as any other Target Optical. Finally, I've never bought contacts from her office that gave me difficulties as she regularly allows me to try different brands of contacts to see which I find the most comfortable. In sum, I recommend Doctor Judy to anyone that needs to see a friendly, professional optometrist. read more

I went here based on the fairly good reviews on Yelp. But this has been probably the worst optometrist experience I've ever had. The doctor seemed tired and distant. My appointment was at 5pm so maybe she was jaded and just wanted to go home. After the exam the receptionist took my money for the eye test and didn't give me a copy of my results - when I requested it he reluctantly wrote it out and gave it to me. My wife had an even worse experience when she went there a few days before me - they wrote out the eye glass but not the contact lenses part of the prescription. And when she called them they said they couldn't find any records of her visit and that they'd call her back. That was two weeks ago and we've heard nothing from them. Overall this place is a bit of a joke. read more

I've shadowed Dr. Judy on many occasions and she was great! She was really informative and genuinely cared for her patients. She answered every question and was very thorough with her exams. Overall, my experience here at the clinic was great. The staff greeted me upon my arrival and Dr. Judy showed care towards all patients. read more

Dr. Judy is probably one of the most thorough, understanding, and kind doctors I've been to. She is very informative and patient. I was able to find the right contacts with her that fit my budget. She didn't make me feel rushed or anything (which many doctors from all fields have made me feel like). The contacts I have now are super comfortable, and because of her knowledge, I've been taking better care of my eyes. I doubt I'll see a different eye doctor again, and will definitely head back to see her. read more

Dr Judy is fantastic! She's on time and knowledgeable. I rate two stars because the customer service that has recently been hired is terrible. They used to have a fantastic clinic and now every time I go in there they are rude and unwilling to help. If I could give a zero star I would. I brought my non English speaking dad to this place to get an eye exam. Immediately we were rushed by Dr. Louis Lee to finish up the paperwork and get into the exam. During the exam, Dr. Lee continued to rush my dad and especially during the section where the doctor is asking you to choose between lens one or two, Dr. Lee flipped through them so fast, I couldn't even finish my interpretation. I had to tell him to slow down twice. By the end my dad (with the lens supposedly corrected ) was seeing the letters worst than when he started. Even Dr. Lee commented on this. But the worst part was as he was rushing us to end our questions, he began aggressively selling us some vitamin supplements for my dad's eye dryness. He even said the dryness was a disease and it will get worse and did I want to endanger my dad. He even asked if we wanted to leave our credit card number since he was out of the supply at that store. When I asked him if he was officially prescribing the vitamins to my dad, Dr. Lee revealed that he was selling the vitamins not the store. I told him that I thought that was a huge conflict of interest and I thought it was unethical. He said a lot of doctors sell glasses and contacts when the patient didn't really need them and I said at least the sale went to the store, but when it came to the herbal supplements it was directly for him. We went back and forth and he continued to push me to buy the supplements even after I told him I was going to report him. Wow! Stay away from Dr. Lee!!! read more

I went to this location on the strength of the recommendation here of Dr. Judy. The whole experience was really quick and easy; they kept me informed and asked me questions about optional procedures (dilation) and what options I had for glasses and contacts with my insurance. On top of that, Dr. Judy caught a very small astigmatism in my left eye. It's not going to be corrected for with my contacts, because it's too small, but it was really good to know I had it, because for the last 7 years or so I've had eye doctors ignore me when I say my left eye is still a little blurry, or lowkey call me a princess. So getting clarification that there actually was something going on was great. Also, Heidi is the person who helped me at the front desk, and she was fast and knowledgeable as well. Fraud Alert! The eye exam portion of my visit went very well. The optometrist was friendly and on time. However, the clerk tried to overbill my insurance. The Target sign says the most expensive lens is $375 and they were running a sale that gave $100 discount on lenses when frames are purchased. The clerk tried to bill my insurance $400. When I asked for the reason, she got angry and said the $100 discount doesn't apply to people with insurance. As for charging the insurance $400 for lenses advertised as $375, she said "That's just the way we do it." She never offered the less-expensive lenses and refused to order them for me even after I asked for them. I don't want any part of insurance fraud, no matter how much I need a new pair of glasses. Went to dr. Judy for the first time and it was great! She was the first doctor to tell me that my eyes were flat rather than round. Which changed the type of contacts that I used prior to the appointment. Now my new contacts don't bother me at all and I can pretty much wear them all day without it irritating my eyes. read more

I gave it 1 star b/c zero is not an option. This optometrist, Judy, was horrible. She was more concerned about selling different vision contacts than examining my eyes - I had to ask her to do this. At one point, I had 2 different brand contacts - 1 in each eye. One was blurry and instead of putting the good brand in both eyes, she started poking my eye to get the bad contact "to stick." I had to tell her to stop. Three hours later my eye is swollen, painful, and blurry. I'm headed to the ER to make sure she didn't do permanent damage. Also, be prepared to stick your neck out. She doesn't move the machines close to you so you can be comfortable. And in the Ebola Era, be concerned about infection. She didn't wash her hands, didn't wipe down equipment, and didn't have tissue for where your forehead or chin touched the equipment. Honestly, I think I should see a psychiatrist because I was crazy to stay there and allow myself to be subjected to her. I'm also scheduling an eye appointment elsewhere because I don't trust she even did the exam correctly. Finally, she told me the cleaning of the new contacts is the same as my old. I got home to discover the kit she gave me was totally different so I have no idea if my current system is safe with those contacts. read more
