The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. I feel confident I'm getting the best care for my eyes! I see Dr. VanMeter for my regular eye exams. She takes the time to listen to me and makes sure I'm happy with my prescription. She always manages to dig up some samples for me, despite my not-too-common prescription. The exam rooms are spotless. It's a nice, quiet setting that's perfect for folks who experience appointment anxiety. This past year was my first time ordering glasses from the store, and I'd definitely order again. The staff were extremely helpful with my indecisiveness about the frames. They had great suggestions, and I ended up with a pair I love. I initially had some issues with the fit, and they encouraged me to return as many times as necessary to ensure I was comfortable with them. Their selection of frames are on the expensive side, but they seem to be worth the price. Things to note: There's a parking garage in the same building. You can access it through the alley to the left of the clinic. They have convenient online scheduling. They also offer an online contact ordering system, but it's a little confusing to use. I typically ask staff to order my contacts for me after my appointments.

In fact, Uptown Vision's prices beat almost everyone in the Twin Cities. Becca, the manager, is a fashion maven who knows what's in style and what fits your face. I am too particular, especially about tints, and Uptown Vision carefully reviews my color choices and shading percentages. Their frame selection is au courant, and they offer Blackfin, Masunaga, Andy Wolf, Maui Jim, and Dita, amongst others. Their optometrist is empathetic, listens, and thorough, plus Uptown Vision accepts most insurance policies. Trust me, it's the way to go in the Twin Cities.

Note: I'm not having any issues but scheduled my annual & routine eye check up. At the appointment they start by doing some standard tests and then the DR does their normal and routine tests. If they don't find any eye issues, I only pay the $10.00 co-pay. However, (little did I know) if they find an eye condition they automatically change this to a medical appointment which now costs $65.23. Here is my complaint. The only thing different is them telling me about the condition of my eyes. So instead of saying your eyes are perfect and come back in a year they tell you about an eye condition, they'll keep an eye on it and come back in a year. Is this not the purpose of a check up is to find out the condition of your eyes. Let me repeat: Nothing (no tests, eye checks) was done different from it being a $10.00 visit to a $65.23 visit except they TOLD me about a situation with my eye. There was absolutely no additional work done during that appointment. When I have my dental check-ups they tell me the condition of my teeth. If they find work that needs to be done they don't go back and charge me for the check up. We move forward with my treatment plan. United Health Care said they pay according to the code the doctor's use. The Eye Care Clinic changing this to medical billing generates more money for them and more out of pocket for the customer. Started by talking with an optician about my insurance info and she brought me back to get me started. Went through health hx, etc... Checked my Rx, did the poof of air in the eye (which was way better this time than I remember?), and she gave me the option for dilation drops or the pictures-- I chose the pictures partially because I didn't want to deal with blurry vision for the next few hours, but also I love looking at the pics! She was extremely kind, and comforting through all the tests! Cool to see the back of my eye, with arteries and the fovea, etc! After I had the initial tests completed, I waited for the Dr. He brought me back and was super nice and really good about explaining everything in detail. I love learning so it was great! He explained in detail was astigmatism was, how HTN and diabetes look on the pics (luckily mine looked healthy), and he went through anatomy of the eye, explaining the macula, fovea, optic nerve, etc! We went through the letters, dots, which is sharper, etc per eye and then we proceeded to try in contacts and do the tests again. Once this was complete he walked me out front and I saw another optician who was eager and excited to help me pick out some new frames! She was helping me pick frames that fitted my face and was honest with her opinion on a variety of frames-- SUPER helpful! We also talked about similar interests of working out and strength training, so friendly and relatable! We decided on a pair and they are super bright and colorful! I can't wait to get them! Overall, amazing customer service! That Dr is lucky to have such an awesome staff, who are down to earth and positive! Everyone was sweet, and really good vibes from this place! Recommend 100%!! Come back about 3 weeks later to pick up my glasses. Everything all good. Than about a month later I get a bill for 1100 saying my insurance wasn't active at the time but now it is. I went there to talk to the manager to try to come up with a solution. They were extremely unhelpful and borderline rude. They told me either pay now or we're sending it to collections. STAY FAR AWAY FROM HERE!!!

I came in just looking for frames because I really wanted a specific feature, and after calling around I learned that Spectacle Shoppe is one of very few that carries what I wanted. They have a very wide range of options for frames. I came in with a printed prescription and no appointment, and my glasses were ready 16 days later. Parking is challenging. I think the parking spaces behind the building are just for employees, and all the other nearby spots are reserved for others. If you find a street spot you're fine, but it's not likely to be close.
