But they are the only people that get my prescription correctly done on the glasses. Just go, you won't regret it for a second and you'll never go to another optical shop again - I know I haven't! For years, I searched the area for a great optical shop. I've tried nearly all the well known and many of the lesser known ones. Then about 10 years ago, I found Owl Optical and I've never had to look anywhere else again. The staff is amazing - extremely knowledgeable, super helpful, and friendly as can be. I feel more like an old friend or family when I'm there and I 100% believe that they want long term customers with whom they can build real relationships - not just to sell you something like so many other shops in the area. They've really helped guide me to frames that I would not have picked on my own, but which I've been the happiest with that I've ever been with how my frames look, feel, and perform. Then there's their selection which IMO is far above anywhere else I've gone in terms of uniqueness, quality, and style. They even have special "asian-fit" frames (I'm not asian, so I can't really speak about those in detail) and are super accommodating of whatever special needs or issues you might have. They have frames that are locally made as well as frames from smaller, more boutique vendors, and some of the most prestigious global brands as well. Their expertise on lens selection is one of the other things that won me over as a loyal client. They introduced me to the various types of progressive lenses and when I found "digital" progressives I've never gone back to the old kind that all the other shops in town sold me. Prices at Owl Optical are also really competitive, but I would happily pay more for their service, knowledge, and simply knowing that I'm going to be happy as heck with whatever I get. It might also be worth mentioning that they have on on-site optometrist and my prescriptions have been super accurate. No issues like I've had elsewhere in the past. What else can I say? I went in to check out some Moscot Lemtosh frames since Owl seems to be the only store in the area that carries them. The vibe was super chill, with no upselling or added pressure. I had a mask on and Chris, the co-owner, asked if I would be more comfortable if he put on one as well (I really appreciated that). I ended up buying more "adventurous" frames than I ever have before and I think it's because I felt so comfortable throughout the experience. Highly recommend. read more

Fabulous concept store and products. I don't think I've found as many unique and eclectic options for eye wear anywhere else in Minneapolis. All of the frames they carry at Owl are beautiful works of art, most of them handcrafted from unique and exotic materials. I found the customer service to be fantastic. The original frames I got never fit properly. I requested multiple times to have them adjusted and they literally never worked. Ended up Breaking them trying to get them to fit. Got a second pair of the exact same frames (different color) that fit perfectly fine which really makes me question what was going on with that original pair. I genuinely like my frames and just about everything about this place but when you're paying over $900 for glasses I they should be perfect and not have to purchase a second pair of the same frame. Not only is this the cutest optical shop ever, they have great customer service as well! The frames were a little pricey for our small budget, but we went ahead and got them due to just how perfect they were. Another plus, we were able to get a same day appointment AND they were ready for pick up in 4 days! One more small note. Do NOT use Owl Optical for eye exam! They told me the optometrist took my insurance, but then refused to submit to my insurance and do not provide documentation for me to submit myself. Blue Cross intervened on my behalf and said they had not encountered such lack of awareness in a provider for a long time. Ultimately Owl Optical and Dr. Haggemo have ignored my requests for proper documentation and I am out the money for exam!! Should have been a 100% covered exam. Owls have also been one of my most beloved birds, so when my wise old eye doctor told me that it was time for prescription lenses, I spread my wings and flew over to Owl Optical. Wide eyed, I walked into Owl Optical, and one of the owners, Chris Hansen, greeted me with a jovial smile, and immediately put me at ease. Not only did his sharp expertise help me understand which frames complimented my facial features, he asked me several questions to determine what frame would work best with my personality and lifestyle. I was thrilled with the frames that we found, and when I returned to pick up my progressive spectacles, I met his amazing wife Julie, (the other owner) and I was equally impressed. Very interesting selection of frames you won't find anywhere else in the Twin Cities. Large selection of Moscot, probably the whole line, in many colors and sizes. They definitely have a designer's eye and will help find something special just for you. There are quality choices available in moderately priced to very high end frames. It's a family owned shop so you may have to wait a bit while they're helping others but it's worth it because of the amazing attention to detail they provide. read more

I went to Owl Optical two weeks ago with a friend. My friend received full attention and great customer service. I, on the other hand, was completely ignored. While my friend was handed pair after pair to try on, I was left wandering around and trying on frames alone. I understand wanting to make a sale, but it is bad business to ignore any customer. I am a new customer to this store and I have been very happy with the glasses I have purchased, and especially, the customer service. I have purchased several pair of expensive frames and lenses and Julie and Chris have taken deliberate interest in making sure I am pleased with the outcomes. Unfortunately, one frame ended up not fitting well, but no problem!! They exchanged it for another pair, no questions asked and no argument. Whew! When I needed new glasses, I went to Owl Optical on the strength of an article I found in the Southwest Journal. They recommended lenses that provided better reading and peripheral vision than my old ones, and had a wide variety of frames, in a range of prices, to fit a small face. They know their optics and their aesthetics--I see better, and the new frames are fun! They also worked to find me a discount, which I appreciated.
