They now have an amazing room dedicated to treating dry eyes using some sort of pulsed light machine on our lids. I can't wait to set up an appointment for that. Just didn't have enough time, but I will be back. Time to get my dry sore eyes some treatment. We got to take care of our eyes since we use it all the time. She is also very passionate on helping myopia treatment for the young kids. It's hard to find a doctor that can do it all and this one is the one. Stopped in on a whim with a friend. Ended up both being able to be seen right away. Dr. Tran was very friendly. She asked a lot more questions than most about your daily routine to make sure that she gave the best recommendations for your eye health. I was impressed. Overall the glasses selection left a decent amount for me to desire. The costs of each had to be looked up which would be hard if there had been more in there. I'd go back for another eye exam. I've worn glasses for over thirty years - since I was in the 7th grade - and I don't think I've had a better experience with a prescription than the one I received at Eye Society. I've got nearsightedness - which is improving due to my advancing age - and a very mild astigmatism. Getting progressive lenses that address all of these issues over the last few years has been a real pain in the rear! I was so pleased that this year is different! My prescription is perfect, it doesn't cause headaches (unlike some I've had) and the reading glasses portion works well for me, especially when I'm in choir and have to look both at the director and my sheet music. Dr. Nguyen used to be at Master Eye Associates Memorial City (went by Dr. Tran) and she recently opened up this new practice on her own. I preferred not to switch eye doctors, and my family and I have been patients of hers for as long as I can remember. I recently found out that she opened Eye Society, and I have no regrets driving the extra distance because Dr. Nguyen is amazing. When I walked into E/S, I fell in love with almost every pair of frames they offered. It was hard to choose the perfect pair because they all looked so good! The collection of designer eyewear they offer is far from what you can buy at any other optical brick and mortar. With the friendly associates and Dr. Nguyen's help, I finally decided on a pair (even though I'd love to have a few other pairs to switch out daily). What a pleasant experience I had! Thorough, friendly, and detailed from the moment I checked in - to getting my eyes examined and picking out my frames. They also offer sunglasses which I came back to purchase. I returned my Ray Bans that everyone else wears and bought a pair of Illesteva's. Never heard of this brand but they are true quality! I found Dr. Nguyen in the midst of a terrible eyelid infection thanks to my barely-functioning MGD glands. (It turns out they are actually fine, but I needed to add some omegas to my diet.) She was able to give me some great tips to get through it, prescribe an antibiotic and alleviate some pain. I later returned to renew my contact lens prescription, and she recommended I try a new type of lens that allows for more oxygen to reach my eye. Sounded good, but I let her know I'd been in the same brand for years without real issues. She has since put up with my picky eyes and ordered several samples of the new ones for me to try, and I really appreciate her patience! This is a cute, convenient location in The Heights, and Dr. Nguyen really cares about your eye health -- not always something I've found when getting glasses or contacts. read more

I would not reccomend this Optometrist to anyone. Main Points: (TL;DR) (-) If you want a doctor who takes their time with your vision appointments, shop elsewhere; This doctor gives rushed and unclear explainations. (-) If you use VSP as your vision insurance provider (or any other provider that offers frame allowance and discounts), shop elsewhere. They'll take advantage of your insurance which is otherwise there to help you. (-) If you plan to purchase frames from them, shop elsewhere; They are way overpriced here. (-) If you want a thorough and detailed explaination of your options and insurance coverage to make an informed decision, shop elsewhere; Staff didn't present us with options of lens materials, customization options for frames, and also didn't go over what our insurance covers until after we paid to get fitted for contacts. (-) They'll make false promises and then go back on their word with no explaination, then the doctor will make themselves unavailable to answer futher questions. (-) They don't provide you with a copy of your prescription or tell you what it is until you specificially ask for it. (+) Great lighting to try on the limited selection of overpriced premium eyewear. (+) Friendly until you have a problem. (+) Clean, aesthetic office and restroom. In depth review: My appointment witht the Optometrist felt rushed, and it felt like every question I asked was never answered thoroughly. They didn't clarify that our VSP coverage only allows credit towards glasses or contacts, not both, until after we've committed to trying on contacts for $20. I had clearly stated I intended to purchase glasses with blue light filtering at the start of my appointment, so this was frustrating as I wouldn't have tried contacts on if I was informed that my coverage only covers glasses or the contacts. The staff admitted to increasing the pricing on their frames to account for patients using their vision insurance frame allowance and 20% discount on frames as a way to increase their profit. Insurance should benefit the person it's covering, not the doctor. They then provided an excuse that other dealers charge more for lenses. A low co-pay for the patient doesn't mean the doctor isn't billing the insurance for the lenses. Lindberg frames are priced much higher here. The frames I chose at Eye Society were priced at $849.00 before vision insurance benefits were applied. The same frames can be found for $599.00 or lower at other local Lindberg dealers before any insurance discounts (VSP insurance is accepted at most other Lindberg dealers). There was no mention of Lindbergs being customizable when trying them on. Once I discovered the options at another Lindberg dealer, I realized not only how limited the inventory at Eye Society was, but that they were unwilling and illequipped to assist in the customized options. The staff there doesn't seem to know how to properly fit someone for frames, as the original ones I placed an order for were too large for my face (as numerous other Optmometrists pointed out once I tried the same frames at other Lindberg dealers). When I spoke to the doctor directly about all of this, they provided a number of roundabout excuses and then offered the following resolution: * An additional 15% off my frames (which would have brought them to $485.00, still higher than other dealers accounting for my vision insurance). * To be schedueld with the local Lindberg rep to try on various frames and get properly fitted. The following week, I received a call stating they couldn't provide the try on service with the rep, but they could offer a full refund (excluding the initial eye exam and contacts try on), with no futher explainations as to why. When I asked for a proof of refund via phone, I was told they had no way of doing so. Needless to say I will not be returning to Eye Society, and don't even trust the vision prescription I was emailed at the end of the entire negative experience, despite having asked for it numerous times. read more

On my recent visit with her she mentioned that she opened up her own practice in the heights, so I had to check it out. Dr. Tran has been my optometrist for years and I love her, her exams are very detailed. Eye society is located in the Heights Mercantile (upstairs). Eye Society carries high end glasses and sunglasses. Definitely brands that you don't see at other opticals. Time to throw away my peasant frames and invest in some eye catching ones. I picked out some Andy Wolf sunglasses. LOVE them, I already got so many compliments on them! Did I also mention her whole entire office is so aesthetically pleasing and instagram worthy! The location is on a little building strip with other businesses (it was located on the second floor). There was plenty of parking, which is always a plus for me. My vision insurance lead me to this office near my place. Turns out Eye Society opened only a few weeks ago! The office space is very clean and modern! The staff & Dr. Nguyen are very pleasant, thorough and professional. And the frames are super trendy and stylish! I love how the eye exams were non-invasive using the latest equipment. I stopped by eye society today and was very pleased with my experience. A very nice gentleman named Pablo helped me find frames to fit my face. Although they couldn't accept my insurance, I was pleased with the frames we chose in the end, they had a variety of styles and shapes offered by different brand lines which made it much easier to find the perfect colored frames. I've been to other stores and tried searching for glasses online but my experience with walking into a store to try on glasses made it easier to narrow my choices. Pablo was personal and went over and beyond to get my prescription details immediately and suggested frames I wouldn't have tried on before.
