My husband and I have both bought several pairs of glasses from them over the past few years and their service is stellar. The staff on the shop floor are wonderful. Helpful without being pushy. And they give honest opinions about how things look. I recently had to order replacement lenses for some Tom Ford glasses I bought from them and despite that they were a difficult prescription, they had them back and ready to go in 3 days! I'm handicapped, so before I travel anywhere far, I will call ahead to find out what obstacles I'm dealing with. The person who answered was the same person (I knew by the voice) who helped me the day I went up here, answered my questions fine, but I can't help but feel this annoyance in his voice and energy. Maybe he was busy at the store, so I didn't really think anything of it. Either way, I traveled an hour and a half from Cherry Hill, NJ to come here. The store is located on the second floor the Short Hills Mall and it's outside of the Bloomingdale department store. I use crutches and am an amputee, so knowing exactly where I am is important to me to gauge how much moving I will have to do. i get to the store and it's a small store with a few brands available on display. My mother came with me because she was interested in buying a pair of sunglasses (which she did) and didn't feel comfortable leaving me to travel alone too far. We're Korean and she was telling me how the people in the store were judging us because we looked "poor" or not what they would expect people who shop at their store to look like. I told her she was crazy and not to say anything because I just wanted my glasses and to leave. I had just walked a pretty good distance from the parking lot and I told them that I was the man that called about the Chrome Hearts. He kind of acknowledged me and was speaking about 10 feet from the counter to the Chrome Heart display. No offer to really help look or even sit. I didn't think anything of it. I asked to sit and started shopping. He brought a few pairs over and I started trying them on. I quickly found one I was interested in and selected the color for the transition lenses (I chose Amethyst). They actually told me that it would be about 2 weeks initially. I asked them to mail them because I wasn't going to come back (I own a business in Philadelphia and I usually cannot leave). I left and waited to hear back. I was anxious and was awaiting a call for any updates. A week and some change had passed, and I still hadn't heard anything back, so I called them. They picked up, but acted like they didn't know who I was initially. I even said that I was there buying the Chrome Hearts a week ago. I doubt there are few people coming in here dropping thousands on 1 pair of glasses. Especially that recently. Anyways, I keep giving them the pass that maybe they're dealing with shit and are too busy. I asked them what the status was, but no one could answer and they asked who sold me the glasses. I couldn't even answer the question because the guy didn't even introduce himself at all. But I remember his face and I never forget a face. He's a white boy with long hair and glasses. Either way, they said they would have someone call me back. I waited a couple hours and heard nothing, so I called back again. The people asked again who helped me and I said that I was supposed to get a call back but didn't hear anything. They put me on hold and FINALLY got a hold of the man. He had a very distinct voice and I immediately recognized it. He picks up and says, "HE is calling", when clearly I am the one on hold and am the one who called. I rolled my eyes and just bit my tongue. Only to find out that the lab was having issues with the tattoo that is imprinted on the lens, and that Amethyst may no longer be an option. He said he would call them and find out if it was possible in anyway, and he also asked if gray was a possibility if Amethyst was off the table. I said it was fine and awaited a call. I waited and heard nothing. SO I CALLED AGAIN. He then told me, "Oh yeah the Amethyst wasn't going to work, so I told them gray." I'm just appalled honestly. The amount of miscommunication, NO COMMUNICATION, and COMPLETE LACK of professionalism is enough to never come back. I then waited again for my call, only to have to call back AGAIN, but this time I was pissed so I let loose. I told them that I had seen better service at fast food places and expected MUCH MORE from an "upscale" retail store. I guess that lit a fire under their pompous and arrogant asses, because they ACTUALLY started calling me. I received daily updates about my glasses, and then they told me that it was going to take more time because the "LAB" fucked up the lens and it couldn't pass "quality testing". I'm over it at this point and felt compelled to write this in hopes of saving others from an absolutely HORRIBLE experience. This place did a revamp and name change and I see why now. Would never recommend and never go back. If you're looking for Chrome Hearts, then you are better going to NY and giving your money to people who actually care and appreciate it. 0/5 stars if I could.

One of the (many) curses of my life has been myopia. As a kid, it led to schoolyard bullies…read morehabitually calling me, "4 Eyes!" and challenging me to fight. I became a youthful "street fighter" (a bad one, let me hasten to add) because I basically had no choice but to fight or get knocked down (or, in my case, to fight and usually get knocked down, although I did win a few). As I got older, I contemplated contact lenses, but this seemed too much like a concession to vanity, as well as necessitating way too much effort and work (another curse in my life has been the curse of laziness, or...to wax Biblical..."sloth"). My optician during those years was Vincent Rizzo in Bernardsville. The last time I went to him was 20 years ago when my birth mother contacted me about meeting for the 1st time. The glasses I had at that point were outdated, unstylish, and...in my nervousness about not wanting to be perceived by the woman who had given me birth as a "dweeb," (vanity belatedly kicking in), I went to Rizzo's and bought myself a pair of glasses with a more modern, up-to-date style. However, I kept the older glasses to use when I was home by myself and watching TV. Well, fast forward...20 years later. Rizzo's in Bernardsville is gone, replaced by a psychic (as an aside, I've always maintained that if a psychic, a massage parlor or a "dollar store" opens in your neighborhood, your neighborhood is well into its swift decline. Just the other night, I had dinner with my oldest friend in Butler at a strip mall restaurant alongside a semi-rural stretch of Rt. 23. As we left, at about 10pm, a massage parlor 2 or 3 stores down was still open for business, it's orange neon light flashing "OPEN." I joked, "You think that's legitimate, or you think you can get a 'Happy Ending' there?" With a straight face, my friend replied, "No, I'm sure it's legitimate. There's always going to be somebody out here in the middle of nowhere who needs that crick in his neck or that pain in the lumbar region massaged out in the middle of the night by an experienced, professional masseuse." Yeah, sure. Anyway...) Recently, being typically careless (another curse in my life; my habitual carelessness), I was clearing out the remains of a lavish Italian meal I had treated myself to and inadvertently threw my spare pair of glasses out with the rest of the garbage (I had been watching TV while I ate and put the glasses down alongside the remnants of my meal when I was finished). Looking for those glasses the next day and realizing that they were gone for good (I wasn't about to go crawling through the dumpster looking for them), I was in a quandary. I do go semi-regularly to an ophthalmologist in South Orange for eye exams, but it has been decades since I've gotten a new pair of glasses (outside of an incipient cataract, my vision hasn't changed much, and the old prescription still works for me). Rizzo's in Bernardsville is long gone. What to do? I still have my primary pair of glasses, but I wanted to have an extra pair around, just in case. I called Gerald York, and they were very friendly and accommodating, answering all my questions. Yes, they could make a pair of glasses based solely on the pair I had now, without an eye examination or a copy of my last, decades-old prescription. So, the following day, I went to the store, which is located in the central (and quaint) shopping area of Basking Ridge. In a few minutes, they had the order in, and the glasses were ready a few days hence. I can't say the price of the glasses was cheap, but it wasn't as much as I thought it might be, and I feel more secure with this pair than I would with a pair from...say...Walmart. Parking in Basking Ridge can be hairy, but Gerald York has convenient parking in the back of the store. I've only had the 1 experience with them and am hoping I won't have need for any other glasses at least into the near future, but based on this 1 experience, I've found that they're friendly, efficient, and provide quick quality service. For your eyeglass needs, I can't think of anyone I could recommend more.
