I found this place online because I wanted a pair of Chrome Hearts and after searching, found that they were more of a niche brand and not so widely available. I'm handicapped, so before I travel anywhere far, I will call ahead to find out what obstacles I'm dealing with. The person who answered was the same person (I knew by the voice) who helped me the day I went up here, answered my questions fine, but I can't help but feel this annoyance in his voice and energy. Maybe he was busy at the store, so I didn't really think anything of it. Either way, I traveled an hour and a half from Cherry Hill, NJ to come here. The store is located on the second floor the Short Hills Mall and it's outside of the Bloomingdale department store. I use crutches and am an amputee, so knowing exactly where I am is important to me to gauge how much moving I will have to do. i get to the store and it's a small store with a few brands available on display. My mother came with me because she was interested in buying a pair of sunglasses (which she did) and didn't feel comfortable leaving me to travel alone too far. We're Korean and she was telling me how the people in the store were judging us because we looked "poor" or not what they would expect people who shop at their store to look like. I told her she was crazy and not to say anything because I just wanted my glasses and to leave. I had just walked a pretty good distance from the parking lot and I told them that I was the man that called about the Chrome Hearts. He kind of acknowledged me and was speaking about 10 feet from the counter to the Chrome Heart display. No offer to really help look or even sit. I didn't think anything of it. I asked to sit and started shopping. He brought a few pairs over and I started trying them on. I quickly found one I was interested in and selected the color for the transition lenses (I chose Amethyst). They actually told me that it would be about 2 weeks initially. I asked them to mail them because I wasn't going to come back (I own a business in Philadelphia and I usually cannot leave). I left and waited to hear back. I was anxious and was awaiting a call for any updates. A week and some change had passed, and I still hadn't heard anything back, so I called them. They picked up, but acted like they didn't know who I was initially. I even said that I was there buying the Chrome Hearts a week ago. I doubt there are few people coming in here dropping thousands on 1 pair of glasses. Especially that recently. Anyways, I keep giving them the pass that maybe they're dealing with shit and are too busy. I asked them what the status was, but no one could answer and they asked who sold me the glasses. I couldn't even answer the question because the guy didn't even introduce himself at all. But I remember his face and I never forget a face. He's a white boy with long hair and glasses. Either way, they said they would have someone call me back. I waited a couple hours and heard nothing, so I called back again. The people asked again who helped me and I said that I was supposed to get a call back but didn't hear anything. They put me on hold and FINALLY got a hold of the man. He had a very distinct voice and I immediately recognized it. He picks up and says, "HE is calling", when clearly I am the one on hold and am the one who called. I rolled my eyes and just bit my tongue. Only to find out that the lab was having issues with the tattoo that is imprinted on the lens, and that Amethyst may no longer be an option. He said he would call them and find out if it was possible in anyway, and he also asked if gray was a possibility if Amethyst was off the table. I said it was fine and awaited a call. I waited and heard nothing. SO I CALLED AGAIN. He then told me, "Oh yeah the Amethyst wasn't going to work, so I told them gray." I'm just appalled honestly. The amount of miscommunication, NO COMMUNICATION, and COMPLETE LACK of professionalism is enough to never come back. I then waited again for my call, only to have to call back AGAIN, but this time I was pissed so I let loose. I told them that I had seen better service at fast food places and expected MUCH MORE from an "upscale" retail store. I guess that lit a fire under their pompous and arrogant asses, because they ACTUALLY started calling me. I received daily updates about my glasses, and then they told me that it was going to take more time because the "LAB" fucked up the lens and it couldn't pass "quality testing". I'm over it at this point and felt compelled to write this in hopes of saving others from an absolutely HORRIBLE experience. This place did a revamp and name change and I see why now. Would never recommend and never go back. If you're looking for Chrome Hearts, then you are better going to NY and giving your money to people who actually care and appreciate it. 0/5 stars if I could. read more

Very high end eyewear. I've been browsing here more often as my eyesight may lead me to wear glasses sooner rather than later. If I am going that route then this is where I want my glasses from. Smart and friendly people working there is a plus. Located near Bloomies on upper level. read more

Super high-end place, great service and fast lens production. They got it right the first time. I got a pair of regular glasses and prescription sunglasses and the salesperson was super patient with me. In the end, both sales associates helped me decide between 6 choices (I'm terrible at making decisions.) I am super happy in the end! I do wish they had some basic brands like Ray Ban but that's not this kind of place. They have the fancy handmade French and Italian frames and that's cool with me. read more

Their lifetime policy of taking care of you is pretty awesome. Although this warranty doesn't cover things like lens scratches or if your eyeglasses are truly broken, they will do their best to put your eyeglasses back together at no charge. I have frameless lens and when the screws came loose and the glasses fell apart, I brought the glasses in. Even though it was 3-4 years after I bought the glasses, they put it back together at no charge. Pretty good experience! read more

I am shocked that Pildes has only 3 stars (And Revolution Eyes in TriBeCa has 5!) when they are the best optical shop I have ever experienced. My husband and I have both bought several pairs of glasses from them over the past few years and their service is stellar. The staff on the shop floor are wonderful. Helpful without being pushy. And they give honest opinions about how things look. I recently had to order replacement lenses for some Tom Ford glasses I bought from them and despite that they were a difficult prescription, they had them back and ready to go in 3 days! After years of using Costco for my glasses and contacts, I was tempted into trying on frames here while shopping. It is now our number one place for frames. They have awesome frames and the staff has been helpful in suggesting styles. Every time I have bought glasses here, I have ended up with one of their picks rather than my own. Turned out they were scratched, the guy tried selling them to me for only 10% discount without even providing new lenses(non brand), while the other moron stood there laughing at me for trying to negotiate an adequate price! Their quality, their advice on taste, and their follow-up has been excellent. I have been a satisfied customer for more than a decade.

I will start by saying that they do have a great selection of high end frames, but that's where I feel the good news stops. I found the staff to be snotty, pretentious, and rude. They made me feel as if I was bothering them to look at different frame styles. Also, their prices are way out of line and overpriced. I was recently quoted over $1000 for frames and lenses, which seemed incredibly high to me. After shopping around found other local stores which offered the same high end products, but was able to order the same items for only $650. I know its a lot of money, but when you are as blind as me, lenses are pricey and I want to get a frame I like since I wear them all the time. The difference in cost lost me as a customer. read more

I went into the store and bought Dita Sungalsses for my daughter they fit her perfect and she keeps getting stopped people think shes Kim Kardashian. I now would like a chanel pair of sunglasses and the options are amazing at that store. The sales people are very honest not too aggressive and I would recommend them. I've been a customer of Pildes in the Short Hills mall for 15 years, maybe longer. Their selection is amazing, and the customer service and knowledge can not be beat. They are so wonderful that even though I moved to Rumson a few years ago, I still only shop for my eye wear with them. The quality of their products and service is what you expect from the area, top notch! I now have 2 children both under 5 and have had to bring them with me shopping at Pildes and the staff couldn't have been more engaging and wonderful with them while I shopped. I feel they consistently go above and beyond in their care and understanding, and excellent recommendations. As for prices, I have shopped around because I like to get the best price and Pildes never disappoints. Many times I have checked a price just to see that I wasn't paying too much, not to be cheap but I don't want to waste money either and Pildes has always be lower for the same frame. read more

I am so shocked to see Pildes Optical doesn't have 5 stars across the board! I have had the same sunglasses for over a decade - shocking, I know! I love them and can't find anything like them that makes me feel like I look great in them. I have others that I use, but nothing I love! SO, as you can imagine, I take really great care and I get the lenses changed as needed! So, I found myself in the SH Mall 2 years ago and my lense fell out. I was trying to fix them and I dropped the glasses. The frame broke! I ran to Pildes (ONLY because it was there). I TOO would have thought an eyewear store in the mall would be overpriced because of the cost to them for rent! NOT SO! They changed my lenses to some polar things that feels and looks great and COST LESS than my previous "go to place for eyewear". SO off I went and 6 months later the lense popped out, fell and scratched! I ran back to them and Kevin (who sold them to me) cleaned them up (which magically removed the scratch) and fixed them. Kevin could have easily let me believe there was a scratch on the lense and the lense needed to be replaced, but he DIDN'T!! When I took out my credit card to pay, the owner quickly said no problem, no charge! I am sure Kevin would have said the same but the owner seemed to be waiting to let me know. Probably because he noticed my strange attachment to them :) Anyway, yesterday, the screw popped out and opened the frame (this is now the year after I bought them from Pildes). Of course the lense fell again! Ran to the mall and my new best friend Kevin fixed, cleaned and gave them back to me with NO CHARGE!! SO, If the previous unhappy posters feel the store is expensive, take into account that they most likely won't charge you to come back for adjustments or a quick fix!! Kevin was polite, attentive, kind and really honest with me when I purchased my reading glasses from them! Maybe the employees have switched since previous unhappy posts were made because I just don't get anything short of feeling welcomed and helped by the people there now! I have 3 pairs of reading glasses from Alain Mikli (downstairs level in mall) LOVED them when I got them, but they are no longer "in" and it is hard to hide such a bold pair of glasses!
