Pull into the parking lot but not big by any means, there's a few spaces, not more than a handful though. We were fortunate that as we pulled in, someone had just started on their way out. Enter the building and it's quite inviting. To the right there was a sort of entertainment space where families are most definitely welcome. Making our way through the hall, you'll enter the main area where you'll find a fridge with cold ones ready for a grab and go. Just ahead is the counter where we were greeted by friendly staff. Grab a menu and place your order. They've got a nice range of food and of course beers. We decided to keep it simple and try some light finger foods to snack while we sipped on our brew. Cauliflower and beer battered fries were both perfect. Light, crisp and delicious. I'm definitely looking forward to another visit and bringing an appetite. Good beer, friendly staff, great tasting food and family friendly. I dig it.

Carrie hesitated and tried to talk me into the bar area. She said the dining room is usually for large parties. That is NOT true. I've been there with just my husband many times, as well as a small group (4). ALWAYS in the dining room, not the bar. She reluctantly seated me in the dining room and there were 2 booths that had only 2 people!!j Throughout our dinner, she commented "You guys are still here?!" "You guys have been here forever!" It was NOT busy or full and not near closing time. There were no "large parties". After I left for a few minutes, my friend told me that Carrie commented AGAIN about how long we were there (we had appetizers, dinner, dessert and tea!) And said it was slow that night but if it was busy as it normally is, she "would have had to kick us out"!!!! And she "just wanted us to know that". We also had breakfast here a few months ago to watch soccer and the food was greasy and over salted but I just thought it was a one off bad experience. Came in during a Dodger & Lakers Friday playoff game and the bar was nearly empty while nearby spots were packed as I stopped at Der Wolf before. Upon arrival the Manager was smoking in their back entrance smoking area - Staff was friendly as usual, but I was served a raw, bloody, mushy burger (photo attached). The bar was dark, so I didn't notice until after I started eating it then I bit into the completely raw cold center and was grossed out (see photo). Easy fix (typically) here is where it gets strange. Manager offered a 50% discount or recook another burger - almost like I felt he was thinking I was chasing a free meal. I wasn't worried about the money and didn't want to wait for another burger after already being grossed out by the undercooked rawness --I said to just microwave it or to make me something quick and simple like a kids burger or a few wings to replace the uneaten 2/3 of my raw burger but I was told that wasn't possible due to "health code" reasons. Wait ....you are smoking out back and serving raw burgers and you can't microwave the remainder of my raw burger and to fix it you are offering me 50% off my burger when 2/3 was raw? The server did their best and I still tipped 25% since it was not his fault, management later comped the check and removed the tip, which unfairly penalized the server. Again I don't care about the money but I was so surprised how much this manager really didn't get it or cared until I mentioned that people get sick from raw burgers and it's a health department violation to serve raw hamburger products. This used to be a gem. Disappointing decline in food quality and management. The crowds have been dwindling. Ownership may have changed but many of the sports crowds have moved to other nearby Pasadena pubs where the food and management are much better.

The beer pour isn't just a glass, it's larger-sized schooner. Specialty beers on tap are an extra $2. The burger doesn't come with a side, but a tasty burger and a large beer for under $11 is a great deal. The following week, I came back for the Tuesday night BBQ special. Their BBQ chicken and ribs dinners are 30% off, and come with two sides and a fresh dinner roll. I got the full slab of ribs which was only $21 after discount. They definitely do not skimp on the ribs, as the plate came with two large half slabs stacked on top of each other. The ribs were cooked well, and the BBQ sauce had a good mix of tang and sweetness. I had coleslaw and fries for my sides. The other options for sides are Beckett's beans, potato salad, macaroni salad, and pasta salad. A half slab and the fries filled me up, and I took the other half and the coleslaw home. This is also a great deal for only $21. Other special days include Wednesday $3.50 schooner night from 5pm to 7pm, Friday night $10.95 fish taco plate, and Saturday and Sunday breakfast specials from 10am to noon.
