I just ordered glasses from here after having a negative experience purchasing glasses at a large discount eyeglasses chain store. I happened to walk by this store while running errands in the shopping center and took a quick peek to see if they have any styles of frames that I liked. I noticed right away that they had a lot of styles that fit what I was looking for. I was surprised to find out the $69 eyeglass deal was not a gimmick. The prices for the styles I like are better than the discount chain stores and they had a better selection of the trendy styles. The man who assisted me was very helpful and the atmosphere was no pressure. I appreciate that once I picked out the frames there was not a bunch of sales tactics to up sell me and no unexpected costs like I have found at pretty much every other eyeglasses store. I explained to him the issue I was having with the new pair of glasses I just got at the chain store and he was able to guide me in choosing frames that would work well with the type of lenses I wanted to avoid having the same problem. Took my ray bans which were only 16 months old with original prescription to get my new prescription put in them. He broke my frames and blamed the person who made the original prescription. Thought it was ok at just super glue in two spots. I asked for new frames which he charged me for and a month later, I still did not have glasses. I saw multiple lenses in my box which tells me he remade the lenses after they did not fit. I can't live at the beach and go a month in summer with no glasses, so I had to ask for a refund. This did not solve the problem of my frames being broken, but I advise everyone to stay away. read more

I haven't gotten my glasses yet but my first experience was pretty great. I came in because the nosepads on my glasses that I've had for like 10 years finally gave out HAHA He said it would be a $10 cost which I was like OK I really need this so I'll do it. I asked just to see how much lenses were going to cost because I had two of my own frames that I bought from Asia (Asian frames fit Asian faces) and he originally quoted $65 for the plastic lenses. I told him nevermind and that I was going to go to Costco since they charge $60 and he happily offered to match their price and also let me know that Costco often charges $20 extra per frame for bringing in your own. Awesome. Talked to the owner when I walked in and he was helpful and informative and didn't mind me asking questions. My six year old son recently had to get glasses, so when we took his prescription over to Eye Glasses Galore (because it's minutes from our front door), the gentleman graciously helped us out and we found 2 pairs for less than $100. I knew I was going to need 2 pairs, he's six and he's never had to wear glasses before. After about 3 weeks my son managed to break not one, but both pairs of his glasses within days of each other. We took them back in, fully expecting to have to buy replacements (which was fine, he broke them), but both pairs were replaced free of charge. I definitely recommend this place for eyewear! Too bad yelp doesn't give you an option for 0 stars. I don't like to bad mouth small businesses bc I want to support them but I wouldn't be a Good Samaritan if I didn't share my horrific experiences. I don't have time to go into details of my ordeal. I basically want to say this place is a big scam. The owner lies through his teeth. My daughter had to wait over 2months to get her glasses...over priced lens. I paid $265 just for the lens. Weeks after weeks, I kept getting pushed off and waited. After many attempts contacting them including dropping by the store, I had no solid answer of when I'm going to get the glasses. (I saw documents fm small claims ct on the table when I was there. I guess I'm not the only one he has issues with.) Over 2 months later, I called n called n finally the glasses are back. I told him how disappointed I was with the service n he apologized and blamed the lab. Then he offered me $50 off with any frame I purchase in his store! Wtf?? Are you kidding me? Why would I want to spend more $ at your store?? Her nose piece broke after a few weeks. I called and again, getting pushed to speak with the owner who is never available. I took it back yesterday thinking I need to face them despite of how much frustration I will have to go through again. They claim they are the only place that is contracted with T1 lab so I am stuck. I called T1 but they are closed...as in no longer in business. I came back and asked for a For a copy of the lab order. The order form was not T1. I called "the lab" n They wouldn't speak to me n told Me to call the retailer. He says it will cost $50 for the bridge n it will take 1 week. No thanks! I bought the my favorite pair of glasses here 3 years ago and they went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. So naturally when they broke, I knew where I was headed. So I stopped in today to get lenses from my favorite pair of glasses (which broke) put into a new frame (same model). The owner took a look at them and instead of forcing me to buy new lenses, he put the old lenses in for free. I went in expecting to have to buy new glasses and left with the ability to see and it only cost me a $20 tip. The owner was incredibly nice and helpful and my glasses were fixed in about ten minutes. Hard to beat their prices or how fast they are. They do a lot of things in house, so the service is super quick. Gotta appreciate the friendly service you only seem to find at local shops like this. Just purchased second pair sunglasses here and I'm really pleased with this business. First pair was Ray Bans for my wife last summer. Second pair was Ray Bans for me this summer. I convinced my wife to try the brown lenses (she has the dark bluish lenses that make everything gloomy). He hooked us up with brown lenses for my wife for almost half off and I purchased the pair of Ray Bans I wanted. The ones on the shelf had Polarized lenses. I wanted those frames with regular lenses. He quickly swapped them out for me. We asked him about adjusting her prescription glasses and he said they prefer not to because it's common ford tames to break and they have to replace the glasses if that happens. The reality is that people(like us) often purchase cheap prescription glasses and the frames are cheap brittle plastic and breaks easily. With that said he said since we are his customers he would do it as long as we understood they could break. Over we walked out with the sunglasses that I wanted and the lenses my wife wanted for $140. Pretty awesome if you ask me. read more

This place is a joke. I recently moved here from the east coast and the screw within the hinge of my glasses broke. I shop at the nearby CVS and Vons so decided to stop in to see how much it would cost to get them fixed here. I walked in and no one was there, after calling several times, a man walked to the front. I explained my problem and he immediately told me he wasn't "allowed" to fix them. He said "you can only fix glasses where you buy them from". First of all, that's a lie! After I gave a confused look, I told him I was from the east coast and that wasn't going to be possible, he simply said too bad. As I turned around to leave, he said it's because someone sued me once for breaking their glasses from another place! Well, that's good to know, I guess he helped me avoid his horrible services. read more

DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! I had previously done business with the owner of this store, Swavek Zmijewski (telephone 858-270-9320), to have an expensive eye glass frame repaired. He did a good job, so I then ordered custom glass lenses from him as well. I was satisfied enough with the previous work that when deciding to get new sunglass glass lenses, I brought the frames to him and paid to have the lenses ordered. Those lenses alone costs me more than $300 (not including the frames), and I pre-paid understanding they would be completed within two weeks. The two week period went by and I received a call that my sunglasses were ready to be picked up or alternatively Swavek offered to mail them to me. Being out of town for the summer I called and asked him to mail the glasses. That was on Aug. 24th, 2018. As of Sept. 7th the glasses had yet to arrive. Calling Swavek on Sept. 8th, he stated the glasses were not mailed until Aug. 31st, and I should patiently wait for their arrival. Given the time lapsed, I did not agree the glasses should take this long to arrive. When I asked him how he intended to resolve this matter if the glasses are not to me by Sept. 10th, 2018, he stated they were insured. Now I find myself having to force him to make claim on this supposed insurance and wait even longer for the money to go out and purchase new frames plus lenses. Swavek's attitude expressed to me is that of someone who couldn't care less; he's been paid and I should simply be patient. I doubt my glasses were ever mailed, don't believe they were insured, and plan on suing him. read more

Well, I had ordered glasses from Costco but they said 10 day wait and I didn't want to wait so long. The cost of glasses with lenses and anti reflective coating was $133 total from there. Went to Lenscrafters, and they had a special on lenses, 1/2 off, which is a great deal if you want progressive or photochromatic lenses. But the overall cost for similar glasses was $229 with the discount, and this is for standard plastic, no anti reflective coating. Luckily I found Eye Glasses Galore, and went in there. The gentleman was helpful and soon found a frame I liked that fit me, and my nose bridge is very wide, so there aren't too many frames that fit me. The cost was about the same for the frames and lenses as the frames alone from Lenscrafters. I need the anti reflective coating and he matched the Costco price of $30, and also upgraded me to polycarbonate lenses from standard plastic. All this for $199 plus tax, and they will be ready tomorrow afternoon. I am really glad to come in here it is a more positive experience than lenscrafters or costco, I feel like I will get better glases and have them fit better, and they have a year guarantee with them. I recommend this store, they are friendly and knowledgeable, competitive, and fast. And your money will stay here in town and help our local economy. read more

I'm only giving this place 1 star cuz yelp won't allow a big fat ZERO!! I purchased 3 prescription glasses, one being a pair of sunglasses. The tint on the sungalsses were soooo cheaply tinted it looked red!! I was very unhappy but seeing it was summer time, I decided to tolerate it for a few months. I went back to have them re-tinted, and the manager said it faded over time and it wasn't his fault. Not only did he take NO fault in his mistake he kept my glasses for over 2 weeks after saying the re-tint would only take a few days!! After all this, my sunglasses went from a red to a sky clear blue!!! If you want expensive prescription glasses and cheaply made sunglasses, shop here!! Never again will I go back nor will I recommend anyone to shop at this business again! read more

This place has the best prices for budget glasses, as well as very competitive prices for fashionable premium brands. I bought a pair for $69 dollars and they have held up to tons of abuse. That is until I put them in my ski jacket and they bent in ways that no glasses should. I went in to finally bite the bullet and buy a nice pair. The owner stayed after hours to help me decide all while completely fixing my old pair for free! I am now wearing my budget pair awaiting my new Kenneth Cole glasses. When I took them the blonde working said it would take a week. A MONTH AND A HALF LATER I FINALLY went in to get my money back. Everytime I called, they said they'd "call me back" and never did. I got a voicemail from the owner saying they had a new pair for me ready and when I went in the same blonde had no idea what I was talking about and offered to send them out again. The guy was a huge help. I've been to three different eyeglass stores, looking for glasses. I've never had them so it's been a challenge for me to find what will fit my face and style. I walked in the guy picked out 3 pairs cheapest, cheap, and mid range. They all where PERFECT for my face!!! The guy helping me was the nicest guy, not pushy, just a straight up great guy. Both the owner and a very nice lady have helped me the times I've visited (both were very polite and treated me like an important customer). The quality of the work was excellent and the repairs were done properly. I even prepaid for a repair on sunglasses that were beyond repair (and not worth the price) after being evaluated. I recently noticed a change in my eyes and happened to be walking into the nearby Starbuck's when I saw this Eyeglasses Galore; it was late on a Saturday and the owner was very nice, but explained the optometrist who gives the eye exams had left for the day. Before I could leave, telling him I'd come back Monday, he said 'wait a second, let me see if I can catch him before he gets home.' He called and the doctor was kind enough to drive back just for me; he gave me an exam and I ordered a pair of frames; they both really went out of their way- very professional, very helpful. Four days later, my glasses were ready; they called promptly and the fit on the frames was amazing! Although they had all the top designer frames, I tend to go a little more 'exotic' and their range of choices was outstanding. I absolutely could not be happier with their service and the final product and the fact that they went out of their way for me just to be nice was really appreciated. I heard about this place and decided to go down there to talk to them about getting prescription lenses for a pair of Electric sunglasses that I own. I've never had RX sunglasses before. They said it wouldn't be a problem. I called Walmart and they faxed over my prescription release form within a couple of minutes. I paid a fair price for the new non-polarized lenses and left my sunglasses with them (this all took about ten minutes). Three days later I went and picked up my old shades with the new RX lenses. This weekend was my second time at Eye Glasses Galore. The first time was about a year ago. All I wanted was a new screw to fasten my sunglasses. The woman (i think it was the owner) cracked the lens and never said a word. I did not see it until I got home that afternoon. This Saturday, after a very long day. I needed the exact same thing. A new screw for a pair of sunglasses that I really wanted to wear the next day. I was pleased that the owner was not there. The gentlemen that was in the shop said it would take him 10 minutes to put the new screw in so I went to Von's to do some shopping. I returned 15 minutes later. Not only were the glasses not done (as promised) he said he could not fix my eyewear because he got too busy. What kind of business are people running over there? I cannot believe that shop is still in business! Because you know if I have had two bad experiences within a year...others have too! I work in several private homes in La Jolla and I am in PB four times a week. Your reputation has been tarnished (by me) to four people already. I will continue to bad-talk this establishment to anyone that will listen for weeks. In the restaurant business, it is a proven fact that when you have a great experience a person will tell at least 10 people. When a person has a negative experience they will tell 40 people. I intend to double that! In this day and age where "service" is the only thing that separates one business from another, you should be ashamed of yourselves!!!!!! read more

Really a hit and miss store. the younger girl working there now is very nice and helpful, but the owner seems very distracted and must be overworked because he has had two pairs of new glasses that I ordered for over a month, and keeps saying he will get them for me. Last year I took a pair of glasses in to get new stems and he said he would send them to the factory. Three weeks later I walked in, and there they are sitting in the same box, never went out, and I never got a call. I have had some good experiences there too, so I had to give them two stars, and I really like supporting local businesses, but they need to step up the service a BIG notch. read more
