My partner and I could not be more satisfied with the care we received at LNY Optometry! Firstly, if you are someone who is still invested in taking covid-19 precautions they are incredibly accommodating. They booked our appointments back-to-back and no one else entered the building during that time. They were also happy to mask and perform our examinations while we were wearing our masks. The office was so peaceful and I could see it being a good place for people who get nervous at the optometrist, a child, or even someone who may have sensory sensitivities. Aside from all that, they were extremely thorough and efficient. Even though we whizzed through all the eye diagnostics, I never felt at all rushed. Dr. Yonemasu has an amazing "bedside manner" and explained everything as we did it. He was so receptive to any questions I had and very knowledgeable as he guided me through the whole appointment. He was also very sensitive to my partner who had been experiencing eye irritation and performed a treatment while we were in the office. Additionally there was no pressure from them at all to make any glasses purchases, but I did end up with a different prescription than the one I thought I had and I was happy to be able to support their office with my purchase. Ok, pretty much like the best Optometrist in the history of all Optometrist. I have been seeing Dr. Yosuke for at least six years. He is so wonderful, patient and knowledgeable. He takes his time answering your questions and he also listens to your concerns . And, if you want, he will break down the science of your eyeball. I truly appreciate his vision, haha. I did an eye exam and purchased glasses and contact lenses from Dr. Yonemasu. I had a very unlucky and bad experience with my contact lenses at no fault to Dr. Yonemasu. But bottom line, I had to go to a medical Dr because of a defective contact lens. So for the last 3 weeks my eye was too damaged to wear my contact lenses. I attempted to wear my trial contact lenses today for the first time since the ordeal and had an issue. I am extremely paranoid about this eye after my last experience, so I called Dr. Yonemasu to see if he could sneak me in for 30 seconds and make sure that I didn't have a contact lens still in my eye. I assumed since I spent $1,000 in his office and experienced such an unlucky and terrible experience my first visit that he would be willing to help me out. No such luck. Dr. Yonemasu would not see me without a $150 charge. I said I just need 1 minute of his time. He recommended I go to urgent care. Then he played the COVID card. If he sees me, then he can't see a paying customer. So I would be taking money out of his pocket. I am extremely disappointed in the service that I received considering how much money I spent in his office. read more

I have been coming to this optometry for the past 2 years. Both Optometrists were knowledgeable, professional and friendly. I ordered 2 cases of contacts that got shipped to my house. USPS misplaced by package, but I got a tracking order that said it was delivered. Since I was so busy traveling for work and vacation I didnt notice until almost 3 weeks later. I contacted USPS to report it but it was very doubtful they would find it because it had been so long. So I emailed Dr. Y back and let him know my order got lost. I knew it was not there fault either, but I asked if they could re-order my contacts. Dr. Y said he would reorder them, I just had to pick them up at his office instead. In the end USPS found my package and I told Dr. Y and that I didn't need them anymore. The entire email communication I had with the doc was very quick response. 5 stars because they tried helping me with a reorder free of charge. read more

Operated by a husband and wife, both doctors are not only nice people, they are patient and also very accommodating. I call in my contact orders and Dr. Pham is quick to place my order and would either mail my order to my home or I'd pick it up. During my eye exam, Dr. Yonemasu is thorough and would explain everything to me. He listens to my concerns and tries to make sure that the contacts he gives me works well with my eyes. Another thing I appreciate is that the doctor is clear (but nice) when a service I've asked about would be additional cost. I cannot speak highly enough of LYN Optometry. I've been wearing glasses since I was in second grade and began wearing contacts around the age of 13. Needless to say, I've seen my fair share of optometrists. Dr. Yosuke Yonemasu was the very first doctor to take the time to sit down with me and explain which type of contacts work best for my eyes (i.e., dependent on how long I wear my contacts daily, daily v. monthly v. two week lenses, etc.). Every other doctor has always recommended a certain brand or type of lens without really explaining why, but Dr. Yonemasu was the first to really explain all my options to me. Also, he took photos of my eyes so that I could see how my current lenses are affecting my eyes which was SUPER interesting and helpful in making the decision to discontinue wearing my current brand of lenses and making a change to a more breathable lens. The office was also really clean, well-kept, and intimate. Additionally, the office is located in a plaza in Pacific Beach, so there is parking (always a bonus in San Diego). read more

After my apt I realized I wanted a different pair of contacts and they were so kind to have me come back for another consultation free of charge. Dr. Yonemasu MISPRESCRIBED ME!!! TRIED TO LIE HIS WAY OUT OF ACCEPTING FAULT, THEN REFUSED TO RE-DO THE CONTACT EXAM, WAS DISHONEST and refused to refund the USELESS contacts his office ordered me. On 1/8/2012 I went in for my appointment and had a great experience. He had told**me that sadly my vision dropped a little ( from -2.50 to -2.75) and gave me sample contacts ( in -2.75). Within a little over a week assuming the order matched the new prescription I went to pick up my two boxes of contacts. I continued to use/ the sample lenses for the next 3 weeks and everything was great. Within a little over a month my boyfriend ( who has 20/20 vision)noticed that I can not see too well and began to test my ability to read far away when we watched TV. He became concerned because I could not read things VERY close to me and started to test how well I could read ROAD SIGNS! ( Not very well at all) I told him this can not be as I had only had and my exam a month or so ago. I continued to brush it off until 5+ months after the appointment when I moved and discovered that the prescription on the lenses I have been using were -2.27!!!!! (INSTEAD OF -2.75) I had been put in a dangerous driving situation my my doctors error FOR 5+ MONTHS! As soon as I discovered this error I went into the office on the next day they were open. ALL I ASKED FOR WAS TO BE RE-TESTED ( as they used up the 1ce a year test allowed by my insurance). The doctor refused- even though he had no other clients at the time, tried to claim that the prescription was correct ( I have not been so low since high school! there is NO way my vision magically improved). FURTHERMORE HE TRIED TO BLAME ME, THE PATIENT FOR THIS ERROR. I understand that it had been a while since the initial error but I TRUSTED MY DOCTOR that the order was correct. He took my glasses I was wearing ( a -2.50 prescription I got TWO YEARS ago) to prove that he had made no error then when he saw that my TWO YEAR OLD GLASSES were stronger than the prescription he gave me he quietly handed them back to me. Seeing that I was correct and looking very uncomfortable HE TRIED TO LIE stating "I TOLD HIM my prescription "was -2 pointing to a piece of paper you fill out while you wait ( while turning to his assistant and in a hushed tone asking if it was my handwriting or his- IT WAS CLEARLY HIS. A copy of this document I now have*****). Ok even if I had told him such a low prescription ( no way would I have)I AM THE PATIENT- What DO I KNOW? IF I had been a patient of a surgeon and "told" that surgeon to amputate my left leg instead of my right would that surgen blindly amputate my healthy left leg without running medical tests? He finally offered to re-test me right then and there IF I PAID THE AMOUNT OF THE EXAM. Well I still needed a correct prescription but there was NO WAY I would give this deceiving scoundrel more of my money so i scheduled an appointment with a new doctor. So I made an appointment on 6/12/2013 with a new doctor ( stated my case to an VSP insurance agent that helped me get a free re-test for glasses... still paid $90 out of pocket for a contact exam I'm hoping to get re-funded for as well) AND SURE ENOUGH MY VISION WAS -2.75 ( and -2.50 in the other eye) But NOT-2.25 as the contacts Dr. Yonemasu ordered me! Furthermore when my enraged father ( under who'se insurance I am) called the office Dr. Yonemasu just kept stating "but... but.. SHE TOLD ME* her prescription was -2.00). Can a doctor have a lamer excuse? Then DR Pham. told him that they have a "no refunds after one month policy." BUT MY TRIAL LENSES ( the correct -2.75) LASTED FOR A MONTH. IT'S THE ONES GIVEN FOR AFTER THAT 1 MONTH THAT WERE INCORRECT. IF THE SITUATION DOES NOT CHANGE/ I RECEIVE A FULL REFUND FOR THOSE CONTACTS(once I notify the office of my intent) I WILL BE REPORTING HIM TO VSP AS WELL AS SEEKING LEGAL COUNCIL/ACTION. read more

Dr. Yonemasu is a really cool dude. I have a little eye irritation going on and came in to get it examined. I'm a total wuss with any kind of medical office and nearly blacked out halfway through the exam. But Dr. Yonemasu is terrific at his profession as well as keeping his patients calm with some water and cool cloths for the back of the neck. We moved far from PB, so I visited another eye doctor near my new home. (at Sharp) It took months to get an appointment. The prescriptions were off. I couldn't get in for a re-exam. On 2nd visit the Sharp optometrist was with me about 8 minutes and seemed annoyed she'd made mistakes. A disaster. I hightailed it back to Dr Yo. He took the time to find out what the problem was with my new glasses, and when he did he explained it all carefully to me. I'll return to Sharp with his corrections to fix what they did wrong. But in the future, I won't go to anyone else for my eye exams and contact lenses, Dr Pham and Dr Yo are professional, accessible, and knowledgable. The best! I first came into LNY when I accompanied my husband for his appointment. As I waited for him to finish, "L" offered to have my eyes examined as well. While Dr. Yo was finishing up with my husband's exam, "L" started me off with some preliminary tests. Afterwards, "Y" proceeded to do a thorough exam. He answered all of my questions and was the first optometrist ever to address my complaint of itchy eyes. He prescribed some eye drops and gave me a coupon since prescription eye drops can be quite pricey. By the time I was done with my exam, "L" had helped my husband pick out some new frames and ordered them. I highly recommend LNY to others. I love how they are able to schedule our appointments so that my husband and I can come in together, they have a great selection of frames, and they even offer to ship my husbands's glasses to our house. read more

I've recently relocated from Los Angeles to San Diego, and luckily stumbled across LNY Optometry since it was close to my office. I've been wearing glasses since a young age, and have never had the opportunity to experience an eye appointment that I actually enjoyed... until I walked into LNY Optometry! For the quality of service, I got an excellent deal considering the "best bang for the buck" mentality. I received a thorough examination with multiple methods of diagnosing the health of my eyes. I'm impressed with the check up since these methods are new to me compared to the other optometrists I went to in the past. They are more tech savvy than most places since I got my receipts (correctly itemized for FSA) emailed and the eye checkup faxed to my NVision (annual requirement) office in Irvine. I need a contact lens exam very last minutes. I called the office and Dr. Pham was able to schedule the same day appointment for me. Surprisingly. there was no waiting time after I arrived. Dr. Pham explained their practice philosophy that both Dr. Pham and Dr. Yonemasu want their patients to have full attention, one on one doctor-patient time. Dr. Yonemasu did a very thorough exam. He took his time to explain and answer my questions. The office is full with high tech equipments with utilized during the exam. I was able to try on the contact lens that Dr. Yonemasu recommended after the exam. As I walked out, Dr. Pham was happy to help me pick out a frame. I highly recommend this optometrist office, I have never experience this thorough and friendly services in others offices before. And most of the places I went, I always had to wait for a long time.
