They were open and straight forward. However they refused to repair my Acer Laptop when I advised them (and they confirmed) that the power supply port would require some soldering. We had an issue with my son's computer. He downloaded a "safe" site from school and it wiped his computer. We had to buy a new operating system and memory. No one would touch it because they all wanted to charge us to put theirs in. After market parts apparently are bad. So another place recommend ES. I took it in. The guy looked it over. Wrote out a work slip and in two days they fixed it! Works great, "knock on wood". Their cost isn't bad either. Highly recommend this place if you just can't seem to get your computer to behave. Extreme Systems is not simply a computer store located in Killeen, Texas and near Fort Hood--IT IS THE COMPUTER STORE!!!! I am not someone who usually writes reviews for local merchants, but in this case I had too. You see, Greg the owner and Mike, his partner, are not simply two guys who decided to open a computer store--these are two gents really love to build desktop computers and laptops to your personal specifications (computers gamers--hint, hint!!!) and will do some at a reasonable price. There is no glitch they cannot diagnose and fix. There is no computer resurrections they cannot perform with their electronic magic. If you are older than 50, have no fear--they love talking computer/laptop tech. If you are not Mr. Spock or Data off Star Trek (Lord, knows I am not) they will break exactly what they will do and comparison shop with you right there in the store. The tragic event has caused me to write this review? I recently returned from a business trip and allowed the airline to check my padded backpack with my laptop inside. When I go home, I discovered that not only was the glass screen cracked, but the screen/lid was bent all to hell. "Were you involved in a car accident?" Greg asked me when he saw my deceased laptop. I told him what happened and that I needed a new laptop as I had a project due. He took me down the line and sold me a used laptop (fully upgraded and still under manufacture's warrantee!!) at a reasonable price. Then he performed a 20-gig file transfer from my old system to my new one--wait for it--for free!!! So that is why I am writing this review to tell everyone in the Central Texas that there is actually one computer store that (1) treats their customers with respect, (2) guarantees their work, and (3) will not gouge your wallet with inflated prices. In my particular situation, I was in a bind and they were did not take advantage--this is a store where they treat computers with respect and their customers with the same respect. My daughter has broken her charger port on her laptop twice and both times repair was done within a day and extremely affordable. Second time was done on the spot and I was gone twenty minutes later without a charge. Will always use them for my computer repairs. Best buy would have just told me to buy a new computer and charged me hundreds of dollars. Also have lots of affordable and great PC parts and hardware for sale. Nope. A week after getting it home, the glue they used to hold the screen to my computer came apart and the screen separated from the computer. Not only did they not have the INTEGRITY to stand behind their workmanship, but they actually had the nerve to insinuate it was somehow MY FAULT. (like for real, I've my own deadlines. I had called because i needed to find out the issue with my PC, was told they do free diagnostics so I went ahead and brought my PC in. told the Person helping me that I had recently built my PC with newer parts and the only part that was old but still worked was the Motherboard, processor and Cooler, and was moving everything from my old tower to my new tower and was having issues turning my PC on and that I had to wiggle the power cables at the base of the motherboard to get it to cut on, I've moved my equipment multiple times from a different tower to a new tower so I know it worked before hand and I know I didn't break anything considering it was turning on you just needed to wiggle the cords while it's connected to the motherboard, he proceeds to take out my Entire processor cooler and the Processor itself, which really isn't recommended to make matters worse when he was putting everything back he didn't even clean off the old Thermal paste and replace it and proceeded to put everything back together, he struggled putting the cooler back in, He didn't even look like he knew how to put it back after taking it out. after putting everything back he told me he needed to take everything apart and test each equipment individually and was going to be $40 an hour. AFTER I was told diagnostic was FREE! I also had a Basic build and not some fancyschmancy build and said it was going to take no more then 2 hours To check everything. read more

I got an all in one water cooling pump for my PC. I decided to install it myself. Once I was done, I went to boot but my PC didn't POST. I tried everything I could to get it to boot but it wouldn't work. In my moment of panic, I happened to come across Extreme Systems on google. I called them and was greeted by Greg. I told him my problem and he encouraged me to bring it in for them to look at. So I packed up my PC and drove 30 min to Killeen. When I walked in I was greeted immediately and asked what they could do for me. I told them what was going on. I left my PC there. About 4 hours later they called me and told me that figured out what was wrong and that they got it working again. When I got there Greg explained to me everything that was wrong with it and also what they did to fix it. But these guys went above and beyond. They cleaned up my PC and zip tied all the wires. They cleaned the PC. And they reconfigured some settings in my BIOS to make my PC run much more efficient. They only charged me for the hourly and zip ties! Overall, this might be the single best experience I've ever had in business. I will be a lifelong customer with Extreme Systems. If I could give it infinity stars I would! I brought my computer in to be serviced because it ran slow, the tech took about 5 minutes to check and diagnose the problem. I left my lap top there early in the afternoon and they were finished repairing before they closed (SAME DAY)! I found them to be professional and my laptop is running much quicker, they even cleaned the keypad of the food and dust (I didn't ask them to but I'm glad they did). My visit did not start off well but it turned around real fast. I purchased a heat sync and fan that was recommended. When I got home I attempted to install it and was unsuccessful. I came back to ask for refund and was denied. I was never told and there were no signs saying no refunds. I was upset but he offered to install it for me so I dropped my PC off and got it back the next day. They did not just install the heat sync and fan but completely cable managed and cleaned it out and did not charge me a penny. I will be back to this shop for any of my PC needs. read more

I have brought my computer twice to be fixed by Extreme Systems and I have had an excellent experience both times. First, the competitor down the road with the big yellow sign offered to fix my computer for 3x the money and told me that everything I had saved would be gone. The first time Extreme Systems fixed my computer it had crashed and I received it back in like knew working order with all my files still saved to my computer in 24 hours. The second time they fixed it two years later they replaced the hard drive and fixed viruses etc for the same same low price and let me tell you my computer was so bad off it was almost dead literally and I still received it in about a day in a half and again I had all my files still saved. Greg and his crew have always been there for our computer issues. They do FREE diagnostics if you bring in your computer. This lets you know if it's a comp or network issue. If they can't help, you don't pay anything but they'll try to help any way they can. They built a custom computer for us with high end graphic card, I bought a new laptop, and we've purchased other products. They sell (new and refurbished) computers of all kinds, install, service, even have an awesome virus protection and maintenance package. Their website has current comp threat info to stay up on the latest schemes. They also buy and recycle electronics if you're ready to get rid of the old stuff. I like using an established local business where you can deal with the same people and get great customer service. A lot of my friends use them exclusively. I have used Extreme Systems for years. I have had all my upgrades done there along with having a few gaming computers built for me and my children. I had always been happy as the owner never made you feel like you wouldn't understand when explaining things. He would talk you out of things not needed instead of padding the bill. Fast forward to a couple of days ago. I had given my desktop to my son and daughter-in-law and wanted to get a gaming laptop. I went to Extreme Systems and was greeted rather rudely by the technician while he was leaning on the counter. My first question was do you build custom laptops for gaming. His reply after looking me over was, well they are kind of expensive, as though I didn't have that kind of money. Next I asked what laptops they carry and he showed me a refurbished one and when I said that was not what I was looking for he turned and went back to leaning on the counter. I ended up buying a $2900 MSI gaming laptop from IBuyPower. I will not do business with them again. I still think the world of the owner personally but you lost a $2900 sale and all future business because the face of your business that your customers interact with does not live up to what we have come to expect from Extreme Systems. read more
