Wow! I kid you not I called this place at 5:05 inquiring about any availability and I walked away with my keys to a well priced unit that I was escorted to by the manager, Alex. He was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions and addressed any of my concerns. The facility seems well kept and maintained. The friendly lady working in the office Jeanette worked efficiently fast in getting all my information and paperwork done. This facility was the cheapest in the area, the closest to my house and had a lot better reviews. I plan to move out of my Public Storage unit as soon as possible, because I feel so much better about this facility holding my personal items than them. Would definitely recommend!! read more

They give you a good rate in first 6 months then they start increasing it. that was my first question i the rate will increase? they said no we didn't increase it from a long time but this is not true. it went from less than $50 a month to 90 in 3 years only. read more

I first used them in 1993 to store business paperwork. Over the years I've had the opportunity to rent large and small spaces, short term and extended periods of time. I especially appreciate the way Pat and the rest of her staff take the time to call me. I was traveling a lot the past few years, and might have missed a mailed letter - but they ALWAYS took the time to phone - and easily manage my payment info over the phone. I feel that my "stuff" is stored in a safe dry place - with friends keeping an eye on it. Over the years I've referred people to this place, and continue to do so. I love using this storage unit, it is so easy because they automatically charge me every month via credit card, and I just come and go as I please whenever I need something or to put something away. They also have the most reasonable prices out of all the storage places in the area (I checked every single one ahead of time!). I definitely recommend this unit and will continue to use it for a very long time. read more

The front desk workers and managers have been consistently rude and unprofessional on numerous occasions. I recently called to ask a few basic questions and I was blown away at how disrespectful and uncooperative the lady was. The actual facility is average. Nice to have a loading dock. read more

The large women who sits or should I say "plops herself on the chair" at the desk in the main lobby where you check in was so rude and such a b*©#h that we left without renting a storage unit. These people are LIARS and crocks. First they pull you in with the promise of a FREE use of a truck or $20 credit. My friend referred me to this place since she rented a space there, she never got her "Referral bonus". Rented a 10X15 & I got to use the truck for few hrs. Needed a second 10X15 3 days later, I was charged a higher price than the first time & the truck was not available. I asked about the $20 credit which is stated clearly in their brochure, Pat the Manager (who never smiles), gave me some excuse as to why I could not get the $20. I was worn out from moving I didn't want to argue with her. So I was renting 2 (10X15) units from these people & paying them almost $400 a month. It was a constant struggle dealing with Pat, even though I asked her to charge my card she was always trying to charge me a late fee. Sara (her daughter I think) was much nicer & would remove the "late" fee. Her employees are afraid of her, one of them told me that she has been doing this for 10 years and you can't tell her anything. Which was true. Everytime I came over, these people (Pat especially) was unfriendly, never smiled. Acted like she was doing you a favor. When I questioned a charge on my card which I wasn't told about, Pat gave me an eviction notice. Never returned my calls. Then discovered that my unit was leaking water & some of my things were damaged. Filed a complaint with the District Manager and never got a reply. Store your stuff somewhere else, even burn it, give it away but don't give your money to these assholes. They don't know the first thing about customer service. One guy is standing outside smoking half the time, the other half he is watching you like you are about to commit a crime. And Pat is this sour old lady who would be better off getting another job not interacting with people. Companies like this SHOULD go out of business. In comparison, moved my stuff to another storage space. It is clean, well lit, modern, the people there smile at you, greet you with your name, they have bathrooms you can use after office hours and they don't try to screw you. Well, my wish has come - they read this review and then served me a 10 day termination notice. How do I know? Because they said so. Seems to validate all the points I was making, doesn't it? Storage units are so plentiful that I will have no problem taking my business elsewhere. I have been a customer at this location for more than two years and never had a problem until today. Over the years I've used a number of storage facilities in the area. About 4 years ago I moved everything from another facility to Extra Storage in Redwood City. I got tired of dirty (and wet) conditions and high prices. I was looking for, and finally found, a facility that is clean, dry and friendly. I see that most reviewers have the same impression that I do about Extra Storage. With one notable exception. I must say...i am annoyed with these folks. Yesterday I spent many hours planning our upcoming move of our belongings to storage for the end of Feb. After finally settling on a mover we chose Extra Storage via Self Storage Rental Site. Well, they let me sign up. I booked the space. Gave them all my personal information....you name it. We were set I THOUGHT. Well I received a note today telling me that they 'only accept reservations 7 days in advance.' well, this sure makes a move impossible. What the heck. They mislead me by allowing me to book it in the first place. We offered to pay for a year in advance but, they are so greedy that they prefer to get the daily and weekly user until that magic 7 DAY date. What a joke. We went with Door to Door Storage/Containment. The location of the storage is just the same difference. But, the folks were nice and professional and they were straight and to the point. read more

I have rented a storage space here for a few years. I have recommeded it to others..Love It. Clean, and secure. and Pat couldn't be any nicer very friendly and a true asset as to why I recommend this site. It doesn't have that insensitive corporate feel. Yes there are cheeper storage location in RWC but they dont seem to be as nice. Yes you will get reminders when you are late in the mail and the rates do go up rather quickly. Perhaps they could send out a reminder email out to all customers when their rents is due, it would be helpful. In addition perhaps an online paypal account would be useful for those customers who go on vacation or live in another area. Autopay is not appealing. read more

Pat took my reservation 7 days before and kept it. I showed up on the morning of the 7th day and had the storage room rented. The trolley's are very helpful in transporting the stuff. read more

I priced other storage companies before deciding on Extra Storage. Their free move-in truck use and initial discount were a big factor, as well as the hours that they are open. They have always treated me fairly and politely and been helpful by sending email reminders of time to pay rent. In fact, the pleasant behavior of Pat, the manager, was a factor in renting here and she has made every effort to accommodate any requests. Finally, I like that it is well maintained and clean. I have been renting a storage unit from here 8 months now. I have no point of comparison (have never rented storage from anywhere else), but I have had a good experience so far. Pat, Sarah and the rest of the crew have always been courteous and helpful. On the day I was moving all my stuff in, it ended up I needed a bigger space. They had one and were quick to accommodate me. The rates are reasonable. The free use of the truck on move-in made the price even more reasonable. It's easy to pay the bill online each month--there are no reminders when payment is due, but I have my own (I prefer not to have this charge auto-debited from my account, but there is that option). This is a low-key, no-frills place and that's just the way I like it. I don't need the extras (or to have to pay for them). As long as the place is clean and dry and my stuff is secure, I'm good...and it is here. I come and go as needed and have never had any issues. I would definitely recommend this place. read more
