I rented a unit at Security Public in Redwood City from March 2023 to September 2025, and the move-out process was a nightmare. Twice I was locked out with a red lock even during office hours, with no staff available for nearly an hour. On top of that, they refused to provide a simple prorated refund after charging me extra days -- terrible customer service and policies. I chose this storage facility because of the wonderful reviews. I had been talking to Steve the manager, and he had been super kind to even agree to let fedex sent my 7 boxes which somehow were sent back to Atlanta. Let's just say Fedex screwed up big time. They supposed to deliver all my boxes but claimed the recipient (me ie) refused the delivery so they would all return back to sender (me) in Atlanta. The fact was they did not even attempt to deliver those boxes. After dozens of phone calls, most were intercepted from leaving CA. However 7 boxes left and are now back in Georgia. Fedex said they would route them back next week. Great!! I would be in Singapore by then. In the end, my niece's friend is going to help receiving these 7 boxes next week. Glad I don't have to trouble the staffs at Security Public Storage. I rented a 5' by 5'. The entire storage looked clean. Granted I have nothing valuable to steal in the storage unit, still I do not want anyone to break in and steal some childhood keepsakes. If I have to complain one thing, that would be the elevator. Thanks Art! Made the process for getting a storage unit simple and at a low cost compared to the nearby storage units in my area. But, there is a but! This place is hella more secure with your unit having security alarm in case an intruder comes in and tries to open your unit! Never heard of a neat feature that it comes with! It alerts the workers that a break in is going on and will immediate ask them for ID to make sure it's not a thief. Sick! Showed him the discounted price I was offered online and he matched it even though it said online only! My daughter has a storage locker here and all the times that I have had interactions with the manager, Steve, he has always been pleasant, accommodating, personable and very easy to work with. It is a gated and coded facility in a very secure area. There is a donation box if you have gently used or new clothing items you no longer need. There is plenty of space for a moving truck or van to park. Possibly, if you need to store your vehicle here, please inquire within. I would highly recommend this facility. I've been storing my things here for almost two years. I keep trying to downsize, then find another reason to keep my space. It's been a fun ride, working with the manager, Steve, at this location. He always has a very positive "can-do" attitude no matter how many times I've told him, I'll be moving out or downgrading or passing on my space to a friend and/or anything else.
