When I went to file a rodent damage claim, was told the storage policy does not cover pest damage! Also, lights go out after 17 min and you have to go back down the corridor to turn them on if you need more time. Why no motion sensors? Elevator down button broken for at least three weeks and counting. Office often closed during regular hours. Prices go up substantially every six months. Bait and switch with initial pricing. Avoid.

When I came to get my stuff, I found that my boxes were damaged by rodents, and there were numerous rodent droppings in my storage unit. They chewed through the boxes and my items, and they left droppings everywhere. I had to throw away a lot of my items and throughly inspect and clean my remaining items, which was a monumental chore. When I contacted CubeSmart, they offered no resolution. They said that I would have to go through my insurance to get compensation even though insurance does not cover pest damage, and they refused to refund my rent. This is not a clean place to safely store your items!!

From the loading dock I could read the sign for the closest elevator that says it's broken (2-3 weeks now). However, it was only after I had fully loaded a cart and pushed it down the hallway that I discovered the state of the second elevator. We could clearly see an employee was present in the office, but he was not proactive with informing us of the inaccessible state of the building. I could have been spared from loading and reloading the car with 150+ lbs of items. The employee said the second elevator just broke down recently, which could have been fine if it weren't for the fact that the first elevator was not serviced in a timely manner. To add insult to injury, he said one of the elevators was supposed to get fixed today "in the next couple hours" and that he'd call us once it got resolved. Well, it's past 10pm and that didn't happen. Without the elevators, we (and even the employee) are unable to access the second floor. There was a deconstructed couch just sitting by the loading dock, which seemed, potentially, like evidence of another customer who had an issue accessing their unit. Public Storage should notify customers if there are any issues that may impact accessibility to their products and services. To people considering this place, I highly advise taking your business elsewhere. Sure, it seems clean--but at what cost? Would I recommend this business to my enemy? I'm not that cruel.

Their response so far is that I should claim it in insurance. Since the stuff can not be replaced they need to focus on fixing their roof not telling people to claim the loss on insurance. I signed up for a unit for $33.00 per month in November. There was no disclosure that this was an introductory, limited time, or teaser rate. Extra Space sent a notice doubling the per-month charge in February. Did they increase the rate by 5% - no, 10% - no, 20% - no, 50% - no. They increased it 100%!!! On February 9th, I called Ryan at the phone number listed on the rate increase notice to discuss the rate change. He said that he would look into the rate change. He called me on February 12th when he told me that the rate would remain $33. Based on this conversation, I wrote my earlier review. Guess what - in March, I received a notice increasing the rate by over 71%! I called, questioned the rate increase, and told them about my February conversations with Ryan. The representative first denied that they employed someone named Ryan. In mid-April, a 3/5/26 Yelp review by Monica G. mentioned Ryan's name and referred to him as the manager. Yet Extra Space did not know who Ryan was?) After I told her what I discussed with Ryan, she then said she would have to review them and call me back. She did not. I received a call from a different Extra Space representative. He was abrupt and said the new rate was the new rate. He said to check the local rates. So, in April 2026, I checked this company's website for local rates. The Extra Space Storage location is currently offering the same size unit, with the same features, climate-controlled, elevator access, for $26.00 per month for four months. Nothing on their website indicates that the $26.00 monthly rate is an introductory, limited time, or teaser rate. In my opinion, the way this business treats its customers is abhorrent. When you rent the unit, you must pay an administrative fee of $29.00. You cannot use a padlock on their rental units; instead, you have to buy their lock for $19.95. You then invest your time in putting your goods into the rental unit. After investing both your money and your time, you see a significant rate increase! It reeks of bait-and-switch tactics.

Special shout out to Herisha who was incredible at their job and made renting a new space easy and quick. Remember, as a general rule, storage rental facilities are largely unregulated which means they can raise your rent with 30 days notice to pretty much any amount they want and they know they have you on the hook because you won't want to relocate your stuff. If you get a quoted price online, lock it in for six month or a year by pre-paying if you can. ALSO remember - you can get your own rental unit insurance from any number of companies for half what the rental unit companies will charge you and bring in proof of insurance at the time you rent (but you MUST do it in person). ALSO ALSO remember - you can also bring your own secure lock and not pay $20 for one of their locks. Do all of the above and any smart reasonable manager or employee is going to make your rental process smooth and painless.
