I called the storage and the lady that answered was so rude. The call kept cutting off and so I told her I would call back. I don't think it's the regular girl who works there but I had to call back 5 times and she ignored all my calls. I then had to call corporate to get the store direct number. I've had my stuff in here for almost 10 years. It was fine until a year or two ago. The rate has gone up 200%+ in that time from $120 a month to over $350 a month. I was sold on it because it was climate controlled, cameras, and had security systems. All smoke and mirrors. For the longest time, transients were loitering inside during off hours inside the stair wells. Door locks broken, graffiti, cameras broken, elevator buttons broken. Why am I paying so much rent for a run down facility. I recently found that my unit upstairs was broken into via the cheap a$$ chicken wire that covers the top of the units. My advice is to get a downstairs unit and keep your stuff here short term. I'm actively looking for a new storage unit and would not recommend any Extra Space Storage facility. They have great customer service. I have bad phone service and the call kept dropping but she was patient and explained all the details needed. She also ensured I understood every form I had to sign. I only wished I had gotten her name, I was in such a rush I forgot it. She saved me this Friday 9/16/22 since I called at 5:45pm and I was worried she wouldn't be able to help since they close at 6pm but she was able to help me finish everything on time. Be AWARE! This place will rent you a space and in 4 months you get a nice 60-70 percent increase on your bill. No advance notification. Nothing. Just more money straight from the checking account. When I asked about it I was told it was normal in the industry to receive 2-3 increases a year. The owners probably complain about inflation then they proliferate it with their business practices. Eric and Ed are the best customer service people on the west coast. When I was living in my car Eric signed me up and was completely transparent about pricing. They were cool and never judged me. Finally I saved up enough to buy a house and Ed signed me out of my last payment. I bought a lock but messed up the code- Ed had an extra laying around and let me have it for free. I'm convinced that Eric and Ed actually care about the customer and will treat you with respect and as human beings. Moving is not always a great thing and having my things in storage was not something I was looking forward to. However, when I finally settled in at Extra Space Sylmar I felt like I made the right choice. Every single one of the staff members was absolutely amazing to me. After a two year stay I had to have a 28ft. trailer dropped off and was forced to have to leave the trailer parked on the property longer than I was allowed. The staff never charged me and took into consideration that my sorry helpers were the reason for the delay. I would highly recommend Extra Space Sylmar my unit was clean, accessible and I felt safe while on the property. Thanks again guys for making my stay there, my move and even taking the time out to check on me on my move out day. I wish you all much success and a life full of happiness.
