I have never needed a storage unit before, and now that I do, the process here was so easy. I signed up for a unit online, on a Saturday. That same day, I received communication with specific instructions and my passcode. I felt totally safe going there solo, on a Sunday, for my first trip. It is clean, easy to use and safe. Then, two weeks later, I couldn't find the keys to my lock for my storage unit. I called them, spoke to Walter, and he said bring your ID and we'll break the lock and you'll be all set. That gave me comfort. Walter has been so helpful answering all my newbie questions and I am so glad that I am renting their space. read more

Three months after I signed up for a unit at $75/mo. they sent me a notice in the mail saying they were doubling my rent to $150! Don't be fooled by their "web rate", which actually means "move all your stuff in and then we'll double your rent" rate. read more

I strongly caution anyone NOT to use Extra Space. One is initially quoted a monthly rent which increases every few months to an increase of more than nearly $100 at the 12-month anniversary of moving in. One is reportedly sent a postcard without proof of mailing or certified return-receipt that is received in the mail several days after the mailing date which does not enable one to make other arrangements and one's automatic payment has already been charged. Two of the postcards reporting of an increase that Extra Space claims were sent were never received. Interesting that when one is signed up for e-statements and billing, one never receives such notices electronically and when one asks to see the "proof" of Extra Space's mailings via certified mail or return receipt that the notice has been received, SURPRISE, SURPRISE, it does not exist! When one notifies them through their website that they will be moving out, and their website reads that rent will be pro-rated, guess what ISN'T pro-rated. One calls corporate several times to be told they will receive a call from the local office which does not happen. After multiple rounds of calling corporate, one receives a call from "Nina" who appears grossly lacking in the Customer Service Department! I can not encourage potential customers enough to carefully evaluate their decision to rent with Extra Space Storage!!! read more

Clean facility, but they show absolutely NO courtesy to our country's veterans, police or fire! They claim the units are climate controlled (55-80 degrees) yet my unit is consistently 80 degrees...not too fun when you're moving two bedrooms onto the third floor of an 80 degree room in absolute pitch darkness (because there is not a single light in the unit)! Can't wait to move my belongings out of here. Almost $300/month for a dark, hot, L-shaped corner room on the third floor. Would NOT recommend! read more

I've been storing all of my possessions in the Montville location for just about 2 years and while I've had no problems with the facility itself I do have a problem with the way they conduct business. When I first rented at the facility and signed my paperwork for the agreed upon prices I knew there may be some sort of increase throughout the years . I never in a million years would've guessed that over 2 years time my rental price would go up almost double of what I signed!?! It's absolutely insane. What have you done to the facility or to my unit over the span of time that warrants $70 increase each year? It's more than my apartment complex charged me year over year and they actually made improvements to the grounds that would warrant such an increase. I feel totally taken advantage of and I don't care if I was provided 30 days notice- removing an entire house worth of items out before that increase takes affect is not feasible. I chose to store my things to save money not to be making payments that equal a new car or half of what I would spend on living somewhere. Thanks for nothing Montville.
