Good storage but after I only thought I'd stay a month I ended up staying 3 thru wouldn't allow me to switch to the 3 month new member price. Fair, they're right but moving is expensive enough. They'll draw you in and double your rent almost immediately. As you can see they don't want to acknowledge their con. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. UNITS FLOOD. RENTS GET DOUBLED IMMEDIATELY. Have rented a space here since 2021. Rent kept increasing although there was discernible appreciation in storage facility or equipment or maintenance. First raised rent was 28%, and continued from there. This is how all storage space companies work. You get a great rate to begin and each year they up the rate. One could understand the increase if it was as modest as the improvement of the facility, but alas no. It is a necessary evil when you must store things and have no space to do so. read more

Just moved here in Seaside from Las Vegas. Got into the town around 3pm, Extra Space Storage was first listed on yelp as a higher quality site. So me and my husband went here and checked it out, WE ARE NOT DISAPPOINTED at all. So glad we came here, Liz the beautiful very friendly personnel who helped us are very very helpful. She is great at her job. Explain to us what is what. Recommend is the special they have going on. Also she told us that after the 3 months special they got it might go up the price. So she warned us. Last November I moved from San Jose to Monterey. I put the majority of my furnishings in an " Extra Space Storage" located in San Jose and pay $222 for a 100 sq' ground floor space. Upon learning my couch would not fit in the elevator in my new Apt I was forced to put in storage here in Monterey. I found This location to be close to home so I drove there to inquire. I settled on a 50 sq' upstairs unit at $177. Which I thought was a little high. Fast forward to February where I get a post card claiming the rate is going up to $214 I immediately made arrangements to get out of this over priced unit. The one, and only employee made a big effort to try and negotiate this 20% increase to try and get me to stay, but I refused. I am now convinced she somehow works on commission.... They will increase your rent between 60-100% 3 months after you move in. An incredibly predatory practice to squeeze every cent from you they can. They know that most people will not want to bother with finding another storage unit and moving all of their stuff again. They'll post a comment on this about "market values" blah blah blah, nonsense. This is pure greed. I wish they didn't operate like this because everything else is great. Marion the on site manager delivered the best customer experience. She went above and beyond, was super prompt, and you can tell she is a genuinely great person! There was a mix up with the extra space corporate who I made my reservation through (apparently there in Ohio) and they told me the wrong access time. Marion exceeded my expectations handling the confusion and was so kind and helpful! She made me believe there still are amazing people out there In this world. I'm So beyond pleased with my experience! The unit was clean ready for move in and easy loading, as well as free dolly carts to move your belongings. I needed to get some extra storage to help me move and did my signing and leasing online. When I went in to get my keys and show my ID a few days ago and I got a lot of help from Marion in the office, she walked me through to my space and helped me get in and out while my code was getting into their system and was one of the nicest people I have met. I did not interact much with the other Lady on shift that day but they were amazing and were very friendly. TL;DR, this location has good facilities and also has wonderful friendly people on staff. read more

This place is a maximum security site! I love it. 177 a month for a second story 10 by something room.. fantastic. The bathrooms are clean and the staff here is courteous. My husband and I needed a storage unit to put our entire apartment in. All over the internet said 10x10 is big enough so we called and got a 10x10. Over the phone Liz kept telling me it was a 10x10 as well but once I showed up at the unit it's missing a good 2+by2+ ft in the corner of the room and then against another wall it's angled so we got less than what we paid for. This place was the most expensive out of all the units I looked up but needed to book it due to distance and amount of time we had to move bc of a last minute PCS. I think we talked to Marion about the problem but she just said in the lease it says size varies ( but why would someone over the phone at the facility not tell me that while booking) and she only wanted to make us pay for a different unit at a higher price when our price was already significantly high for this area. Over all I'm upset over the pricing but there's nothing there willing to do to help. read more

So a few days before Christmas 2017 a guy was able to get into the facility and broke into several people's units, including mine. Paid $200+ every month for my shit to get stolen. The employees told me they reported it to the police, and that they knew who the suspect is and where he lives, but so far no arrest was made and this thief is still at large. That was a year and a half ago. I'm not sure if there has been any updates since. STORE YOUR THINGS ELSEWHERE. This place is not safe. Money can't replace some of the things that were stolen from me. The only reason it has 1 star from me is because Yelp won't let you give zero. read more

I was very disappointed with the staff at this storage facility. I was going to be storing my things with them up until the first place I had called told me there was a mixup with my reservation, and that I was still able to store with them. When I reserved with this place, I was charged a holding fee that was never reimbursed back to me. I called several times, as well as left several messages with hopes of being reimbursed from them. Once someone finally got back to me, I was told that there was just simply nothing they could do for me, nor did they try. I am very pleased that I chose not to store with these people after all. Public Storage in Del Rey Oaks is much better! They are very friendly and helpful. They are also very reasonably priced, have great security, clean units, and great business hours! read more

My move was extremely difficult and emotional (selling my dream home) and then the movers really screwed up by leaving some furniture behind in my house on move out day - Marian stayed late, with a smile and kind words, and helped me fix the situation. Both she and Liz were there for me when I was getting nowhere with the moving company. I needed help figuring out how to fix the situation and they totally came through, above and beyond - always with empathy and a great attitude, despite the fact that I'm sure my situation was a pain for them. This is a wonderful place to store you extra stuff, or to help you in making a transition to a new home or apartment in the Monterey Bay area. Close to Hwy. 1 (Casa Verde exit) and just off Del Monte Ave. (so easy to find) they provide a very safe and secure facility that is well kept up and has an automated gate system where you can come and go quickly and easily once you've rented a unit with your own personalized entry code. I found the staff always helpful and courteous and the units were large, clean, lit and had electricity available in them. This is very helpful if you're living in a temp place or moving in or out of the area, or just need space over the summer or whatever.
