Our damaged lock on our unit with a dummy lock attached.
    Jenny H.

Our storage unit at Extra Space Storage (345 Industrial Blvd Minneapolis) was broken in sometime between May 2023-June 2023 along with other storage units. The staff has done their best to be accommodating, however, I would not choose to rent here considering multiple units have been broken into here. A police report has been filed. If you currently rent a unit here, please check your storage unit to confirm all of your things are in there. Up to $5000 worth of items was stolen from ours. With the current ongoing police investigation, if your items were stolen, you could potentially get on the same police case as we are along with the other tenants. Attached is our damaged lock. You can see it was tampered with and damaged. They attempted to make it look like nothing was touched but you can see where the scrapes were of their tool.

Extra Space Storage rate hike after 4 months of rental.

Once all the boxes were unpacked, Joe came out the next day and picked up all the boxes. It's great not having to worry about disposing of all the boxes I needed. Highly recommended!

The owner (Joe) came and delivered the boxes and even brought them all the way up to my apartment. They seem more durable than the average one's you purchase from your local retailer. After I was done with the move I gave his service a call and they promptly set up a time to come pick up the boxes. I would definitely recommend this service to anyone facing an upcoming move. This service is a cheaper alternative to purchasing boxes outright while also being environmentally friendly as the boxes are re-used. Bottom Line - Great Experience!!

I'm writing to share my experience with this moving company in hopes of helping others avoid the…read moresame situation. My move from La Crosse, Wisconsin to Woodbury, Minnesota should have been a relatively straightforward studio apartment move -- no beds, no appliances, no large furniture. Just boxes, books, a small couch, and a coffee table. What I ended up with was one of the most frustrating and disappointing service experiences I've encountered -- marked by poor communication, hidden charges, concerning employee behavior, and zero accountability from management. The movers were scheduled to arrive between 8:00 and 10:00 AM. We received no communication until 10:30 AM, and they didn't show up until 10:50. Work didn't begin until about 11:10. Yet at the end of the job, they claimed they arrived at 10:30 and billed us accordingly. Despite the clear discrepancy, no time adjustments were made. To make matters worse, the movers took an extended stop at Kwik trip during the move -- over 20 minutes -- which they also charged as part of their service time. That stop, along with bathroom breaks and idle time, were fully billed as if they were actively moving items. Before the move, I received a written estimate of 2 to 4 hours of service. What wasn't clearly explained was that this "service time" included the entire 2.5-hour drive from La Crosse to the Twin Cities -- leaving only 45 minutes for loading and 45 minutes for unloading. That is completely unrealistic. I was quoted approximately $2,000, which aligned with their original $1,800-$2,300 estimate, and I signed off on that in good faith. But at the end of the move, I was stunned to receive a final bill of $3,150 -- well above the quoted range and over $1,000 more than what I was told to expect. When I asked how the charges had escalated so much, I was told, "This happens all the time." The movers blamed the company's estimators, saying they never ask the right questions and regularly misquote the scale of the job. They even gave examples of jobs where people claimed to have four rooms of items but actually had a full house, requiring multiple trucks and additional days of labor. From their perspective, this disconnect is standard -- and it's customers who pay the price for that broken process. Beyond the billing issues, the conduct of one of the movers was extremely concerning. He was visibly angry throughout the move, often disengaged, throwing boxes, slamming equipment, and taking frequent phone calls. At one point he asked to use our restroom and took a 15-minute break. He wasn't consistently moving items, and his energy was tense and off-putting. At one point, I asked, "Are you okay?" and his answer was: "I hate my job. I have to do this all the time to people. They never have a good experience. We get no support. We're the ones stuck disappointing customers all day. I want to find something else." That behavior made me feel uncomfortable in my own home. His frustration was clearly real, but it should never spill over into a customer's experience. The second mover was much more composed and professional -- doing his best to move things forward -- but it was obvious he was also caught in the tension of a job that had gone off track. When I asked to speak with a manager, the movers called two people. One finally called back -- but refused to speak with me directly and only communicated through the movers. I was told someone would follow up on Monday. Mangers at this location must not work on weekends? Very concerning with, I'm guessing, most moves are completed during the weekend. Why wouldn't you want to discuss with me this process in the moment? Again leaving a hard job to your movers even harder when not given support. I'm sharing this not out of bitterness, but to give a clear and honest account of what happened. The lack of transparency around pricing, the miscommunication between departments, and the emotional volatility from one of the movers created an experience I wouldn't wish on anyone. Moving is already stressful -- what you don't need is an inflated final bill, unsafe energy in your home, and a company that ghosts you once you've paid. If the company is willing to reach out and resolve this, I'm open to that. But more than anything, I want others to know what to expect. Based on what I witnessed and what the movers themselves shared, this is not a one-time issue. It's a systemic problem. And that's exactly why it needs to be shared.

They got my address wrong but I kept bugging the guy until he changed it. I like to see things in writing. Keeps everyone honest. The week before the move i contacted them online again via email. I got rid of my mattress and didn't need a mattress pad. They said they would remove it from the final bill. The day before the move, I called them to confirm my move date, time and location. They told me noon Saturday. I woke up early and told my husband to go to the new place to wait for new furniture delivery. Unfortunately they scheduled for the same time as the movers. Can you imagine my freak out? At 12:00 no one arrived at the old place for the move. I called the main dispatch number from google. The guy told me he would call back once he reached the team who was to move me. At 1:30 he calls and says they have delayed. He told the team leader to call me when they had a time. He apologized for the lack of communication. He said if the team lead didn't call by 2pm to call him back. At 2pm, the phone still didn't ring so I called back in again. He apologized again and said he would call the team lead. By this time, I was hangry and irritated but I understand moving rarely goes according to plan. Finally at 3pm the team lead calls. He is audibly tired and flustered. Their current client was I'll prepared and they ended up taking extra time to adapt to get the job done. I told him that was fine but they needed to communicate better. I told him to just call me when he was on his way to my place. By this time my husband and I were reunited at the old house and hangry. We went to grab lunch. 5 minutes into lunch, I get a call that they are on the way.. ETA 15 minutes. We cram food down our gullet and get back home just in time to get another call. The team wasn't sure where to park. I told them I'd meet them upfront and I did. I instructed them to take the elevator up to the 3rd floor and turn right. Our apt door was open. The two 20 yr old were my team of movers. They looked exhausted by the time they arrived to my house. I could never imagine doing this for a living. They haul out gigantic rolling carts, dollys and padding. They take it all upstairs in several trips. We had very large heavy furniture, a tiny elevator and narrow doors. The boys disassembled and moved all the most complicated items in my house. I did go around gathering screws and assembly items as they disassembled it. I made sure to have my tool box as well as a ziploc bag for every piece of furniture. I tried to help but they did a better job. Girl fail lol I told them specific directions on where to park at the new place. It was the first floor, thank god. They got there and followed my directions perfectly. When we arrived they put down protective runners to protect my carpets. Yasss I was so happy! My husband and the 2 boys now started to all work together and got everything unloaded and reassembled within an hour! I directed the boys as they brought items in and reminded them about the color codes for each room. They followed that color code like it was the law! Eventually they memorized the colors and rooms. Way to go boys! One boy ended up assembling while the other continued to bring in boxes. My husband moved the boxes away from the main paths and stacked them. Way to go team! The quote was $625.00 The final rate was $675.00 Not bad. We went overtime but not by much. If my husband and I didn't work with the boys, it could have easily been another hour. We moved from a 2 bedroom to a 3 bedroom. We were in Roseville, MN and went to Woodbury,MN. First apt was on 3rd floor and we needed an elevator. Elevators and upper floors just take more time. That's a fact. My second apt was on the first floor with a parking lot as my backyard, which meant they could back up the truck up to my patio door and we were flying! My expensive heavy furniture arrived safely but just a little dusty. They helped us put everything heavy where it was supposed to be. They had great attitudes and did not slack. We gave them each a hundred bucks for a tip. They deserved more but I needed buffet money for later. ;) Just know that you being active in your move and being prepared will help you save money. You will make everyone's lives easier including yours. Other than the lack of communication initially and the timing which couldn't be helped. We loved those boys! Wish we could have them at all our moves. In the past we have always used friends and family. Nevermore!!!
