Corporate Customer Service Nightmare!…read more I rented a storage space for around 3 years after a move. Access to the facility was limited; unlike other facilities, there was no access after 5 or 5:30pm, maybe an hour later on weekends. This is pretty frustrating for anyone with a regular full-time job And a family. Beware, when signing a contract, they will try to get you to pay for a $20 padlock, as well as for insurance. If you have homeowners or renters insurance, you should be covered- call your agent. As stated in the contract, Public Storage can raise the Rent of your storage space anytime, and they will. Once you are counting on that service, they will take advantage. If you downsize to another unit in the same facility, you will have to sign another contract, again with the same shady practice. I ended up paying insurance that I didn't need for 2 years. When I cleared out of the space on the 2nd of the month, I was charged for renting for the entire month. If someone rented the same space on the 3rd, they would have to pay a prorated amount For the rest of the month. Incredible that the amount of overpaid insurance was almost exactly what they expected me to pay for the whole month at the new, higher rate! I proposed that we just call it even, since I had received no benefit from the service( their insurance ) I'd been charged for. I talked to the property manager, who stonewalled, then gave me the customer service number. When I talked to someone in customer service, they wouldn't give me the regional managers full name, only Ben. However, I had already gotten a payment reminder email addressed to "Dear Valued Customer "from a BenJamin Seghers. After speaking with Mr. Segher, I thought we had some understanding when he ended the call saying he would see what he could do. However, the next communication I received regarding the matter was a letter from a 3rd party collections agent, Allied Interstate. I spoke to an Allied Interstate agent, making them aware that the bill was in dispute, and they gave me the number of Kathleen, in Public Storage's Corporate Office. When I finally talked to Kathleen, she said that the regional manager, Ben Seghers was the only one who could resolve the issue; she said the best she could do was cut the bill in half, but I would have to pay Allied Interstate, or a PS office manager on site, and then report back to her. I told her I had no confidence in Mr. Seghers ability to make an ethical decision, and that I wanted to resolve this and put it behind me. I called PS Corporate Office again to find a facility with an on-site manager ( site of my storage unit required an appointment ) I went to the facility closest to my work, that PS Corporate Office said had an office manager, but no one was there. I called Allied Interstate to try to pay, but my account had not reflected the change Kathleen said she would make, neither did my account on the PS website. I am now awaiting my call to Kathleen to be returned. Last time it took over a week; I guess I'll also try Mr. Seghers again...

My two daughters ( age 35+) live like most people in small rental apartments, so I still store furniture etc for them too. I was in three (!) 30 ft deep X 13 ft high X 10 ft wide units with public storage. $$$.... Now it is down to two. This took (3) four week trips from FL. In 1.5 years. Donated everything to Salvation Army St Paul. Husband became extremely ill eleven years ago. We are in a lovely FL. condo he inherited. MISS Minnesota... people, culture, weather - - LOVE the cold!!!! I now have two brand newly built extra large units at Forest Lake - - grabbed them quickly for they rented out super fast. Great price. New wood pallets on entire floor. Never have water in these units, very high airy ceilings with great ventilation. Yes no heat no air conditioning so no fragile furniture, vinyl, wood, etc, but I put clothing etc in tight giant contractor extra thick plastic bags into tight big Costco ( yellow black) plastic storage boxes ( the Best/ shut very tight). I will be out of a second 30 ft unit at public storage after 1-2 more four week trips. Back breaking work - - am creating a new industry of folk buying my things at Salvation Army then flipping them online! We always expected to be in Mn but the condo's living costs are better than renting today. Goal is to find a solid 1 bedroom in MN, build out to be able to remain until I pass on, rent out FL condo. Reverend Jim the manager is the best, the kindest man you could ever ever find and work with. No bugs no rodents all these years. Immaculate rest room at office, safe secure, no crazies renting ' next door'. Women working there solo feel 100 % safe. High fence with barbed wire surround the large rural country property. Nice relaxing 30 minute drive up from the twin cities. Highly highly highly recommend!!

It was dirty, full of feathers, bird poop, spiders and stunk like motor oil. The door came off the hinges and they had limited access hours. We needed an additional storage unit and found Tim at FL Mini Storage to be super helpful. We ended up liking it so much we talked to Tim about getting a bigger unit. He came through and we moved all our belongings from the other storage facility. Tim was terrific to work with and the units are clean, secure and they offer 24-hour access. We always feel safe, and we appreciated the location is easy to get to. If you need storage for the short, or long term, we highly recommend FL Mini Storage.

Minneapolis moving services are some of the most expensive anywhere I've experienced. I hope that simply means that MN companies pay their labor well. We paid $1365 + $180 tip (optional, but come on) for a 3-man crew at $260/hr (2-hour minimum), and we obviously also provided snacks and drinks (they declined breakfast). For comparison, in San Francisco it was $250/hr for 5 men. The rate was with both the weekday discount and winter pricing. Weekend would have been $285/hr for 3 men, and $345 for 4 men. There was no trip fee. Robert, in particular was incredible; he moved a 6 drawer dresser down a tight stairwell alone. They needed to remove the front door at one point, but did so without issue. They also were happy to use our own furniture pads and plastic wrap (leftover from a cross-country move). At one point, they had to back the huge truck through the alley on icy ground, and had no problems. Also, it was easy to provide them inventory by email, and easy to reach them by phone. Lots of moving companies were annoying to contact, which is partly why we chose this one. One a few minor issues: one piece of furniture was shedding pieces of wood. I think they were reinforcements put on by previous owners. I didn't even know they were there, and it doesn't seem to have affected the furniture. They also forgot a couple of items in the yard, including a big smoker we had to move on our own. It's partly my fault, I told them we were good to go. Also, we were made to sign a lot of paperwork, and at various points it was for things like "you confirm that nothing is broken and everything has arrived" and, like, it's weeks later and I'm still unpacking, there is no way I would have known for sure. It's fine, because so far we have had no issues, but if someone did have issues it might feel like being strong-armed via contract. The guys in the truck were just doing their jobs, so it's the process that is problematic more than anything. We would use these guys again!

There is no direct number to the office and they refuse to offer any type of compensation for holding your inaccessible unit hostage. No one can give any answers as to why it is still broken or when it will be fixed. I have seen hand written notes left on the gate voicing the same frustrations. Not a good look around the holidays especially. Rude women in the office flat out told me "NO" when I asked about a reduction. Instead, I got charged late and lein fees when I was attempting to find anyone who would fix the issue. Extremely frustrating.

I was disappointed with what an employee or someone of authority had done to the stuff in this unit. They took the time and individually wrapped the empty boxes of trash for resale. It was clearly Staged by someone that had been in there already. The unit was already opened with the lock and a load of trash was left wrapped as if it was actual items. No one is going to rent a unit for empty boxes of things and wrap them with garbage black bags. Dead give away was a male worker in the office that mentioned to me when I got there to pick up this unit "how someone would pay so much for this kind of unit." He knew something I didn't. Anyways I lost on this unit and they lost a customer. I would not bid on any units at this place again. I felt scammed.
