They are manipulative crooks. They gave me a good monthly rate and then 3 months later literally doubled my rent. On top of that the entire facility is full of unhoused people living in the units. Added 7/21/26 In just 12 months, they raised my rates 230% stay far away! This was probably backlash for posting a negative review! Beware, this the kind of people you are dealing with! I rented a 10 x 20 unit from extra space storage for about a year. I started the process over the phone and was told the rent was 79$ a month plus 20$ for a lock that you have to buy from them plus 11$ insurance fee and a 29$ administration fee. I asked if 79$pluse insurance a month was a special rate and they said no, thats what the monthly rate is. After 4 months they raised the rate to 158$ plus insurance and after 6 months they raised the rate to 238$ plus insurance they said it could still go up from there. I was pretty upset that they can get way with charging you what ever they want. It took me 2 months to be able to move my stuff out of the storage at a ridiculous rate from when I started. Renters beware of this shady business they have been getting away with this far too long . read more

I have not engaged in business with ExtraSpaceStorage, however, William Reed, Store Manager, made himself available when he saw that I pulled into his parking lot with my damaged vehicle. He came out to check on me while I waited for AAA to arrive. He also brought water out to me and offered me a cool place to sit inside (110° Las Vegas, Nevada). "They" say most vehicle accidents happen within a few miles of your home and today, I became a part of that static and I am thankful for the down-home hospitality that William afforded to me eventough I was not his customer. Under the circumstances,William's display of care and compassion made my day a little less stressful, and I am appreciative that he was in the right place at the right time to be of assistance to me in my time of need. Visited the Grand Teton location yesterday in Las Vegas. Renting a storage unit was exceptionally easy. Prior to physically going to the location my wife had spoken to Jenny and was impressed with how nice and professional she was. When I arrived Jenny went out of her way to explain the layout of the business, actually accompanying me to our actual rental unit. This is a state of the art storage property. I have never seen such a security conscious business! Having the app really makes navigating the property effortless. The use of Bluetooth technology to open sliding doors, elevators, entry and exit gates is nothing short of remarkable. It makes me want to go there just to use the app! The management and local workers are great. Unfortunately, many of these buildings have design flaws which make certain units accessible to thieves. Ownership and corporate are well aware of this design flaw, yet they take no action to fix the problem. In fact, even newer facilities are built with the same design flaw. I had 2 different units broken into. There have been countless other units broken into. The problem is twofold, 1) the climate control units have slots on top that are wide enough for a human being to crawl over, and 2) there are only cameras at the elevators. This allows easy access to your unit, especially an inside job. The thieves simply climb over the top and unscrew the nut on the back of the required cylinder lock. I had one unit that had a padlock and cylinder lock, and the thieves simply cut the padlock, then climbed over the top and removed the cylinder lock. There is absolutely nothing done to deter them. Trying to get in touch with anyone at the corporate or ownership level that actually has the financial or legal ability to remedy this situation is basically impossible. Again, the local managers and district managers are fabulous, unfortunately their hands are tied. Finally, the tenants renting these faulty units are stuck with the costs they incur from these break-ins, including moving costs, and any other associated costs. read more

Storage unit is good. Staff is helpful and friendly. Pricing.. eh, not so much. We've been with this storage company for a year and a half and have moved from one unit to another just trying to avoid the price hikes that happen every couple of months. You get a promotional rate and then a couple of months later they significantly increase the cost monthly. Finally decided to move out today as we were paying almost $200/ month for a 9x10 unit. Renting was easy when they have a unit empty they need to fill. After they get your money, attitude changes. Ive rented 3 times from Extra Space, the last two at Buffalo/ Cheyenne. I even referred dozens. After this no more. We told the manager it was 45 days until our home was ready for move in. After 30 days, filled out online notice of move out 3 days before next months bill. They happily withdrew a full month. We cleaned and cleared out 3 days before actual notice to vacate m, a full 15 full days before next bill. We asked for a credit but answer was "unless you verbally give us notice it's not the same". I guaranteed they rent it out next 15 days and laugh all the way to the bank. Managers don't know the word loyalty to repeat customers. Bad business to be greedy and not recognize good customer service. good luck!!! read more

These people are dishonest, belligerent and unwilling to address their issues. We had a terrible experience with Carmen at the Oakey location as well as with her manager (if you can call her that). I would never feel comfortable storing my belongings at a facility that employed such a clearly unhinged person. After we asked to speak with her manager, Carmen gave us a fake name and called us to harass us. Creepy. We let Extra Space Storage corporate know but they were callous and irritating to talk to. Additionally, we found out that they lie to you about the rate and can change it to whatever rate they choose after the intro rate. I do not recommend this storage facility. I have been a customer for 5 years, and I am a military retiree living off of my pension. They raise your rates every 9 months by a lot. They do not even have the decency to give you a year like an apartment. There is no loyalty even though I am considered a long-term renter. My latest rate hike will take me to $608 a month. To give you an idea of how bad that is, my rent is 975 a month. in another 2 years, this unit will be as expensive as my rent!. Vulnerable to theft, felt unsafe. Pros: The place is fairly clean and the pads worked. Cons: I signed up on a Saturday so that my partner and I could go in my Sunday off because the website said the lock would be ready inside, but when we went to drop a few things off there was no lock, and no employee was there to help (office hours are closed on Sundays). The website didn't specify any exceptions on Sundays it just said things would be ready and they weren't. The worst part was that there were about 15 people sitting around outside scouting for renters and getting in by slipping in behind them. One guy that was inside saw us trying to go to the office for help and asked us repeatedly what unit number we had like he could help us and he followed us out of the gate. I kept asking if he worked there and he clearly didn't so he had no business asking which unit was ours, he wouldn't give us space. The people outside the gate gathered like zombies around us from behind it and started minding our business. Really bad first impression I am not putting my things where they are clearly vulnerable to theft. They need to hire guards, it was insane. read more

So I have had my unit for a year now (not by choice) first off I should not be paying $175 for a unit as small as it is plus they just went up to $200 while the 175 was overpriced af already they are entirely overpriced and I will be moving storage companies as soon as possible. This is a reasonably priced storage place. I wish their hours of operation were longer but given the location I can understand as to why this is not an option. There is always someone on site and they have carts available to carry your items to and from they only ask that you leave your ID. Reasonable. Their is a lot of homeless and transients in the area. So be aware of your surroundings but the gates are always locked and you must use your code to come in and out. For the price it's a good option. read more

My husband and i stored all our belongings here for two months while our house was on the market. We moved out today. Customer service was 5 stars. Everyone that helped us was great. There was however, one very disgusting big problem. Cockroaches. Everywhere. On everything. Our boxes filled with papers were crawling with them. When we told the front desk, the response was "we spray the property monthly, but can't go into the units." Ok. Fair enough. Be advised, if you store anything here, put it in sealed plastic. Now my husband and I will have to bug bomb all our possessions before moving into our new house. This was not how we wanted to start our cross-country move. read more

Rent is "reviewed" (aka raised) every few months. My monthly rent has gone from $70 to $120 in less than a year. I understand that fees aren't going to stay the same forever, but raising the price twice within 11 months and almost doubling what was originally agreed on is just ridiculous. read more

Do NOT trust the BBB rating for this company. They have 70% negative reviews and 30% positive but somehow are rated as A+ by BBB. What a joke! We lived in a downtown highrise and had limited storage space so against my better judgment I rented a storage unit at this location. When we first rented the space in person, I found the same size unit online for $20/month less but when I mentioned that, nobody cared to respond. Late last year, the rent increased again and they added insurance to the monthly rate (I have plenty of my own insurance thank you). Calling the office at the facility is useless as no one ever answers the phone and on the occasions I went to the facility there was no one in the office. We vacated the storage unit on 10/28 and I gave notice to vacate on 10/27. Unfortunately, the payment for November had already been debited from my checking account. I requested a refund of the prorated unused balance and was told that if I had given notice ONE day earlier, we would have either not been charged or would have received a refund. I understand that is their policy but it's a very poor business practice and a complete lack of customer service. Life is so busy it can be difficult to remember the policies and rules all of the time. This company clearly just takes advantage of their customers. Find a better place, or just get rid of your extra belongings. It's not worth the hassle. read more
