I ordered my storage unit online so had never talked to a person. I was so relieved to find the facility was easy to find, my password actually worked, the unit was located in a super convenient location to unload and there were nice carts ready to use. The unit was clean and there was a new storage lock unwrapped laying just inside the unit door. I really needed something to go right that day and Extra Space Storage did not disappoint. Later that week I did go in and meet and thank the staff. Misty was super nice and helpful. Great place. : )

It appears the goal is to get you in the door and then continually raise the rent. In addition, the facilities are not the best compared to their immediate in proximity competition. The climate-controlled section that my unit was in was a modified office space to storage units. The had what appeared to be reclaimed interior house doors and very basic latches from the local hardware store. I was only storing decorations so I was "ok" with it until they out priced the competion. There are 4 storage facilities on Walsingham in around a mile stretch of road. Do yourself a favor and shop around. The last storage facility Would at least only increase the rate annually if they increased it. The reason I left is a needed a smaller unit and they were all booked.

So much for loyalty. For years Indian Rocks didn't raise rates at all and we came here because we were tired of the constant rate increases over at another "chain" storage, Storage Spot. Well, here I am now with a letter about my third price increase since they took over 2 years ago. Some reasons not to choose this (or any corporate chain storage if possible): 1.Their business thrives on getting you in and raising rates -- I have had 3 rate increases, two this year, most recent a $15/mo increase. 2. They REQUIRE you to insure. I have Christmas decorations and a few other holiday items I am keeping out of my garage I don't need to insure them but they require it now. Reasons not to choose this Compass Storage money grab location: 1. I have asked for over a year to replace the gasket/trim on the bottom of my door since the lawn people blow dirt and debris in the storage unit I end up having to clean/sweep out. I have left my key in the office for months at a time. Never done. They blame Covid now (I asked way before Covid and they didn't do it then either, nice try). 2. Roaches - Since new ownership - 2 live roaches in the unit when we went to get our Christmas stuff out. Our Christmas tree train got home, took out of box and it was completely filled with roach droppings. Not a few.. tons of them. Enough that I threw the train out and replaced it. We complained to the office and they said they sent their pest control there and found nothing. 3. Insult your intelligence by the rate increase letter saying during challenging times we are giving more notice. The letter is dated October 30 and rate increase December 1. Thanks for the whole 30 day notice! Do yourself a favor look for a nice locally owned NON corporate storage who hopefully wont sell to a large chain and give them your business. The business model of places like this make me sick.
