RATS, RATS, AND MORE RATS! NO KIDDING! I would love to give minus stars... if these were rats instead of stars, I'd give 50..... rats? Well... yes... CONSIDERING RATS HAD INVADED MY STORAGE UNIT! I have been paying for that unit for 2 years. It is supposed to be climate controlled... I guess for Florida, 90 degrees is the climate... because that's how hot it was in there the day I went to empty my space. In addition, and to my horror, when we opened the space (that has no interior light), and the movers began pulling out my belongs, we saw OVERWHELMING evidence that there had been rats in my unit for some time... feces and urine covered everything. And when they brought the pieces home, and took the blankets off that had been covering my furniture, more rat feces... but now it had been brought into my home. Not only was there feces and urine, but the rats had chewed into some of my boxes, but worse, INTO MY SOLID WOOD FURNITURE! Wait... it gets worse, when I went to the front office to tell them... THEY TOLD ME THEY KNEW ABOUT THE RATS. The manager was busy doing an inventory of the empty units to see where there was evidence of rat activity - and they had already put out traps for them - so they KNEW there were rats in the facility for AT LEAST a week or two and did NOTHING to notify their customers who had belongings in locked units! So for two years, I paid for climate control that did not exist - and provided a lovely living space for rats that ruined so much. The manager even admitted to me that the place needed to be shut down... I'M NOT KIDDING "This place needs to be completely shut down"... WHAAATTT? And none of your existing customers were notified?! One smaller note is that I actually had 2 units - one at this location and one at another about a mile away. The second location was kept up nicely... HOWEVER... both places put out that their offices open at 9:30... We waited at the decent location until almost noon - I called the corporate number and the local number numerous times and was never able to reach anyone to help us. Overall, this storage facility does the job. I have used Public Storage twice now for short term storage with little to complain about. I am giving a 4/5 to the one I am currently using for two reasons: 1. I was charged $20 for a lock. In the receipt, it says if you already have an approved lock, to bring that lock and get a refund. We brought the lock I purchased from Public Storage the first time. It says "Public Storage" on it. It was not approved. You now have to use a special type of lock, not a regular padlock. 2. No one is ever in the office? I've tried to buy boxes a few times, during the posted working hours, but the door is locked and no one is there. Even when I call, no one answers the phone. Other than these two minor issues, I have no complaints. The pricing is fair and it's month-to-month. And in spite of not being able to speak to a human, I was able to rent my unit entirely online without any hiccups. read more

If your planning on a short rental(1-3 months) they are priced well. If your there more than a few months they will continue to raise your rent ever 3-4 months. We originally started paying $100/mo last year, our rent has now increased to $155/mo. I would shop around before storing with them, also review there long term rental agreements, a 50% increase in a year is more than excessive. read more

When I moved my stuff in more than a year ago, Theresa was more than helpful. I was sad to see her go. Steve became the new manager and I needed to get bigger storage space or add another space. I booked online another larger space only to be told by Steve that space was no longer available and there was no spaces available until the next day as prices were going up. So I looked online to find more spaces for the lower prices to which Steve refused to give me. I needed a space as my remainder of stuff was to be delivered the next day so reluctantly I paid the bigger price. I never felt comfortable or trusted Steve so I got another storage space elsewhere only to have Theresa return to this facility the day I moved out. Now I'm bummed I moved. I can now completely recommended this storage to anyone. read more

The ladies at this location are great, very helpful, nice working with them. The facility is neat and clean. It took me a while to find my unit the first time. it would be nice if they hang unit numbers on the corners (i.e 700-750) , other than that, I was offered several options and received outstanding customer service. read more

We wouldn't consider storing our stuff anywhere else after the unbelievably awesome service we received from Teresa (manager) here! She looked out for us as if it were her own stuff and account! In addition, the facility is very clean and we felt our things were as safe as they could possibly be. I was just about to go to a different storage facility/company when I read the positive reviews on Yelp for Public Storage at 4221 Park Blvd. I based my choice specifically on past reviews about Teresa, the Property Manager. She was so kind and helpful! Plus, I got a great price on the perfect sized unit. OH - and I got the first month for $1. Can you beat that? Teresa was cheerful, helpful, and went out of her way to ensure my expectations were exceeded at every step (including vacating the unit). Kudos to her and to this well-run property. read more

This is a very bad, snaky, unethical business. Note: I recently sold my house and had all items I was keeping moved into storage. I researched most storage companies and chose PS. I had a one year contract with them. This is why I didn't move things out. Teresa, the manager/grounds-keeper is very strong with her attitude. She smiles on one side and is very aggressive on the other. This didn't allow for negotiations on fixing problems. 1) PS promotes $1 for the first month with a contract. I went in to ask and received "Nothing's available". Why are you promoting it if you don't have anything available? "That's our marketing." I was irritated. All of a sudden "Oh, yes, this person [client] hasn't called back for this unit. I'll give you that one." I was REQUIRED to purchase insurance. 2) Next time I was in the unit the insulation was falling from the ceiling and was on all the items stored. Her response "We have nothing to do with this. The previous person sprayed wet cardboard on the ceiling for insulation." I asked when they're cleaning it up. "We're not, we can't do this. You signed the contract." 3) Another time: the wall boards between my unit and the unit in back were falling down on the OTHER side. I asked them to put them back up and nail them, her response "We can't go into the unit." At least put up boards on my side of the unit. "We can't do that." I asked what if he comes in mine? "That's why you have insurance and he won't come in unless he wants something." Duh, this is the most un-business-like, un-ethical response I've ever received. 4) I filled out a survey [with an ethical business that would have been ok; with PS this was a BIG mistake on my part] explaining the situation. The month after the contract expired the rent increased 15%. I asked if it increased across the board for everyone" "We don't know that, we just increase the rents as they tell us." "I'll rent a smaller unit." I said. "Oh no, they're all rented, even the smaller units are more expensive now so you're getting a good deal." 5) As I was moving my items out I smelled an AWFUL odor. I spoke with the manager about it. "Must be coming in from another unit. We keep everything under control." At the back of the unit was a LARGE dead rat decomposing. There were at least 3 holes, 2+" wide, on the back and side of the couch. The company it was donated to saw the holes and wouldn't take it. Boots [2 pair], shoes [2-pair], a leather coat, wooden legs of a table, other furniture, boxes and items in them had been chewed. Everything was destroyed. The shoes and jacket were unwearable. There was a hole in the wall between my unit the unit on the right. "We can't do anything about it, that's why you have insurance." I will NEVER use this company again.... and I'll spread the word. This is a fabulous facility, and the staff is great! The facility is modern, clean, and had lots of space for a big truck to turn around. The staff was very helpful - going out of their way to make sure moving into their facility was as easy as it could be. read more

While I'm fine with the actual facility. It's clean and climate controlled. Gated. BUT. I've been there for 5 years. Never late with payments. And my rent has gone up from $79 a month all in to $150 a month in 5 YEARS. When I call to see about getting some help with lowering the rate all I hear is "nothing we can do. Corporate makes the rules." So I call corporate. I get "nothing we can do." In 5 years my rent has doubled. So don't be fooled by the move in special if you think you're going to need storage long term. You're going to end up paying through the nose. And they don't care. They have your stuff. They have your money. It's a real pain to move to another facility. So it's a big "screw you". So ya know what? I'm gonna go elsewhere that has a move in special. Use the savings to hire someone to move my stuff out. And pay a REASONABLE rental rate. Public Storage can pound salt. read more
