This is for the location at 1927 Scott Street in Houston TX. The Manager their is very rude and seems annoyed to help anyone. This place smells terrible, that had flooding after Hurricane Beryl and smells like mildew. The 2nd and 3rd floors have carpeting as well as the elevators and those are filthy, smells like pee in the elevators. The 2nd and 3rd floor hardly have any lighting, there are bulbs missing in some of the light brackets. I found rat droppings in my unit. It's not cheap to rent there, but it was close to me. read more

Oh where to begin! First off the on-site manager Greg S. is simply unprofessional, period. I called to speak with him regarding my account last week and he was extremely rude and discourteous! I just started a new job last month after being unemployed for over 2 months and I have been doing my best to keep up with my bills. I tried to get some relief with speaking to the manager about my situation and he would hear none of it! Have called their corporate line twice now to complain, still no call back from the district manager! I've been in the customer and food related industries for over 16 years; if I ever spoke to a customer the way this Greg guy did to me, I'd be fired. Found this place fast and got a unit, I've only had the unit for 3-4 days......the day I put my stuff in there I had movers, the code wouldn't work and I tried calling them multiple times. Someone let us in, then I walked into the office; there were 2 people just talkin. I told them I couldn't get in because my code didn't work so they gave me a new one..... the new one only worked to get into the doors and not the elevators so the whole day we had to keep asking the guy to let us in the elevator. I came back today to get a couple thing, I called and got a temporary code because the last 2 didn't work. I can't get that stupid elevator to work. I follow the instructions, it opens and then it doesn't let me go up. The lady working today has been in a meeting since I got here so no luck with her. I just thought I would be able to get to my belongings when needed! This sucks...... also the ballroom is so nasty. read more

By far the worst storage unit I've ever had. I'll go ahead and number the issues because this is going to be a long one. 1. Building is advertised as climate control, but the A/C is "broken". The whole reason that I got the unit was because it was advertised online as climate control. No warning that the AC was not working, even when I showed up for my lock. When I went up to my unit, it was so hot I had to go back downstairs to ask what was going on if I could be moved to a lower floor because of course I was placed on the top floor. That's when she told me that the AC was actually broken but it would be fixed soon but there are no more 10x10 units available to move me. Offered me a $50 credit. It's been a WHOLE MONTH AC still isn't fixed. Every time I come here, I'm dripping in sweat. Of course the office has AC though so they're not worried about it. Fast forward to my bill coming and they applied $40 instead of $50. Why? I don't know. I spoke with a different manager, she said the one I originally talked to was off and she would reach out and get back with me. No one did. Apparently the part they need to fix the air is on back order which is crazy that a CLIMATE CONTROLLED UNIT wouldn't be better prepared for this. 2. Side gate is never locked. Anyone can walk in and out of the parking lot. Defeats the purpose of a gate. 3. Not sure if this is normal but when the office closes, they lock the restroom. Never had this issue at my last storages. Also the restroom is dirty and it stinks when it is open so I guess they're saving us the trouble. 4. Parking sucks. 5. The sliding doors and elevators will literally close on you. They close is SECONDS so you better be quick with whatever you're doing! 6. On a random day my gate code wasn't working. I had to put it in literally 4 times for the gate to finally open. 7. Corporate also doesn't care so I guess it's beyond this location. When they reached out to me because of a tweet, they said someone would call me in 1-2 business days. A week later, no call. I followed up with them and someone called two days later and basically said if I wanted to move out, I could. Lol nice 8. I've had a few items in my storage melt together, it's THAT hot. In summary, if you're considering this building don't even do it. Not worth the money or the headache. read more

I had a large 10 X 15 storage unit at the 4245 Richmond Ave location where we kept all our work papers and supplies. Without any much notice we were told we had to vacate the premises by the end of the month as they were closing the facility down. I was told we could move to the downtown location and they would give me credit for my moving costs. Unfortunately that location is 6.2 miles away, in downtown Houston, and too far from our business. Since it was too far I signed a contract with Public Storage around the corner. I asked Extra Space if they could pay for our movers or credit that months rent since I had to move though no fault of my own and with not even 30 days notice but the reply was no. Be warned, they are not a fair based business nor care about their customers. I will never rent from this company again. read more

Had a great experience with the staff, who explained things very professionally. When I booked online an extremely nice lady called to confirmed from the actual location and when I called to make sure my unit would be large enough, Kevin was very helpful, up to making sure a larger unit would be ready if needed. This place is clean (including the bathrooms), and well organized. It is very secure, so it makes me feel like my property is in good hands. ** The only thing that made things a bit off was that ever time you need the elevator you have to enter your code.** I believe that is a great feature and love it, except if you have a large moving company, they should have a disable button. Great staff and very clean and well kept. I didn't have a single problem. It was easy to sign up and get a good deal. The call center didn't tell me about the insurance but they explained it on site and told me about options I had. They called with friendly reminders about payments which worked great for me. Pros: 1. Clean, well-lit, safe-feeling 2. Staff generally courteous 3. Easy loading/unloading 4. Staff lives on-site for major emergencies Cons: 1. RATES INCREASED 10% IN 4 MONTHS - this is a bait-and-switch operation. See Alfredo's review below. The onsite "managers" hide under the corporate boogeyman umbrella. I am positive that rates only go up, not down, although I was told they fluctuate with "the market". It only makes them look silly, honestly, that "they have no control". This knocked every star off of their rating (and they beg you to fill our their ratings). No call back from the manager to review this, just a discussion with Asst. manager who did the 'arms up in the air' dance. 2. Staff turned over in the last few months.
