My experience with Katie at Extra Space Storage in Costa Mesa was beyond disappointing. From day one, it felt like she had an issue with me for reasons I still don't understand. Her behavior was unprofessional, petty, and frankly, not what you'd expect from someone managing a customer-facing business. The final straw was when she told me to pack up and leave because I was draining only water -- nothing harmful, nothing dangerous -- just water. She claimed it was against policy, yet when I asked to see where that was stated in the lease agreement, she couldn't provide any clear documentation. Nothing in what she showed me outlined that I was in violation. It felt completely arbitrary and personal. She even made a point to say she's on-site and has seen burglaries and more. Hearing that from a manager actually made me feel less secure about storing my belongings there. Between that and her attitude, I knew this wasn't a place I wanted to leave my property. Katie's handling of the situation showed a serious lack of professionalism and understanding of the actual lease terms. If she's going to enforce rules, they should be clearly written and consistent -- not based on her mood or personal bias. At the very least, she should be trained on how to interpret and communicate policies properly. I would not recommend this location to anyone until there's a serious review of management. After how I was treated, I didn't feel safe or respected, and that's a non-negotiable when choosing a storage facility. read more

I usually don't do reviews to begin with; however the extraordinary services provided by Jazmine and Ronnie at this location was beyond exceptional. not only I was able to select and secure the ideal unit, for the right price.it was all done contactless. I was driving across country, and upon arriving at the location everything was ready as promised. This is a clean and secure storage location. John was very helpful and informative when I called on the phone. I needed a drive-up unit. Convenience was key. I was able to get what I needed at a good price. John shared with me the specials that were running at the time. There was a storage unit price that I could work with given the time frame that I had. Bait and Switch! Be careful if you want to rent for more than 4 months, they will increase your rent by as much as 50% if you sign up online. They do not advertise this. You will receive a postcard in the mail stating "Your promotional rate will be expiring. Starting in one month your rate will increase. Our rates are reviewed and adjusted depending on current market conditions. These adjustments help maintain the Extra Safe, Extra Clean standards and excellent customer service experiences that you expect." If you try to chat with customer service about this matter they will tell you to call your local number. If you try to call the "excellent customer service" they won't answer or return your calls. I wish I would have researched this more. Just became a new customer this past Dec when ExtraSpace took over, and I have to say that Jasmine/Jazmine at the front desk is an absolute pleasure to work with. She's friendly, courteous and helpful, and Exceptionally professional. She's very knowledgable with what the company has to offer their clients and I'm so glad that ExtraSpace took over this location. The previous owner and facility was long overdue for the makeover the ExtraSpace did. As I've been a customer for over 10 years with the previous company it's now such a sight for sore eyes and the facility looks so great now with all the new (working) sliding doors. Thorough, ethical and kind customer service. Our items were moved out in same shape as when arrived. I was proactively contacted to cancel my monthly rent payment. We planned to condense our items in another unit we have with a competitor (so not ESS to be clear) and that turned out to be water damaged with some items having mold. Wish I had planned to condense back to here. In future will use Extra Storage based particularly on how professional the manager deals with customers and the on site security.
