Update: As you can see from the response below, they don't actually have a desire to correct the problem or be customer-focused. Just excuses. Original Review: My bill just doubled without notice and this location has refused to adjust this month's auto-bill in ANY way. FULL REVIEW: I have been with the Extra Space location in Bedford for over a year, and have been a prior customer over the years. Today is 7/15, upon receiving my credit card bill I noticed my storage bill literally DOUBLED on 7/1. I immediately called. They claim they mailed a single rate increase notice via USPS. The location has refused to adjust my bill for this month in any way. They have my email address and phone number. I frequently recieve texts and emails from them, but they only send a single postcard to notify customers of rate increases. This is a horrible business practice, it's shameful, and I believe intentional. They have so many ways to notify customers yet they choose the method that is the least reliable and least trackable. As this was a rate increase and I contacted them immediately you'd think they would/could work with me and make a single adjustment for one month. read more

Renting a storage place for little miscellaneous things around the house. Corey made it so easy and hassle free! I was able to rent the storage unit from the comfort of my own home and I'm able to drive up to my storage unit. This is super convenient right now since COVID is rampant. She offered a lock for purchase in case I didn't have one available, went to check the unit to make sure which lock I could purchase on my own and remained on the phone to make sure my access code was working! I'd say outstanding customer service! read more

Another Update: Management says they will allow a transfer to another unit on another review site. My issue isn't the fact they raised my rate. My issue is the percentage amounts they were raised. Everyone has different rates. If it was a straight 20% increase to everyone, that would be fair. That's not what they did. My rate was raised by a total of approximately 70% in a year. That's ridiculous and excessive. Also, by their own admission, they will raise rates every 3 and 9 months. That's excessive as well. Apartments don't even do that. I joined with a special "web only" rate. It WAS NOT a temporary rate and said as much on the website. They didn't honor it long. They eliminated my price break in three months. The local management on site is great. The company stinks. Find another storage company. You may have a good deal initially, but they won't honor it and will raise your rates too frequently and by too much. I'm proof of that. My daughter has been with a different storage company for four years and her rate increases have been modest and infrequent. If you took the time to read this, save yourself all the grief I am getting and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! Don't believe me? Go to the Extra Space storage website and click on the BBB link. It will take you to the BBB site where you can see all the reviews saying the same thing I did. This company is price gouging! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! Update : It is now just under a year that I first got a unit here, and they are raising my rates AGAIN! this time even worse. About a 50% increase! I'm going from $108 a month to $155. That's insane! I tried 3 other places closer to where I live. All offices were closed during posted open hours. Nobody answered phones either and all lights off. One had sign said back at 10:00. I waited 15 mins after and thank goodness Extra space was my next stop. I called ahead and Tora answered right away. Confirmed she had the size I needed and I headed out. Nobody in office on arrival but sign explaining on property with phone number to call and let her know I was there. She was back in office within minutes. Facility is limited access with security cameras throughout. I felt very comfortable leaving my stuff there. It will be $40 less per month than the other places I tried. Insurance also available very reasonabl. Can pay online or set up autopay. Tora was so patient and professional. I feel if I did have a problem there would be help available unlike the other places I tried. read more

Wow this place is amazing, the ladies in the office really go out of there way to make you feel comfortable. If your forgetful and accidentally leave your storage unit unlocked, they within a hour notice and let you know. This is amazing, and I think they should given raises for there attention to detail. I reserved a unit online and did not hear back from anyone. So, I called and a pleasant lady assisted me with the process. Years ago I rented units but it was always in person. Personally I prefer that method but in time I believe online will be the wave of the future. When I went to the location Marie assisted me. She was super. My climate controlled spot was very clean. Reading the other reviews I am concerned about rates so time will tell. read more

Extra space storage was easy fast and reliable. I did everything online the only thing I had to do was pick up my keys. Any changes that have been made to the storage or any important information they have always called and kept me up-to-date. I highly recommend. read more

If I could give these rude people less than one star I would! The lady at the front counter is the rudest, worst costumer service person. She yelled at me within walking five feet in the door. Yelling over the customers who were at her counter. The other manager who was not very helpful in getting his employee under control, she even ran off two customers. I had to called the main head corporation to get the district manger to reprimand her. Once we got into the unit, after they cut off the locks they changed without our permission and didn't not give us the keys to......we found items broken and missing. There was bad water damage and rodents had gotten in as well. please do not use these people! read more

We've now been with Extra Space storage for 2 1/2 years. When we first got our 10X10 unit 2 1/2 years ago, our rate was 85$ a month. As of 04/19/2014, we will be paying 115$. Time to find another storage facility. read more

Moved form public storage to here because PS is really a terrible company. I was very happy with the service Debbie gave me and the ease of doing it onsite. The unit was a 10 x 20 and in a great area at 112 a month, this is like 40 dollars less than other units around the area, I could of got one for 90 in a bad area but overall very pleased. Remember though when you rent a storage go to wallmart and buy your disc lock and take your renters insurance or home owners cause they try to sell you theres, Lots cheaper off site. read more

Great place for storage! The process was easy, was convenient to where I lived and the place is very, very clean! I do recommend this place!

They have constant rate increases, new managers come and go every few months and if you are late on rent and get locked out, WATCH OUT! They cut the lock on your unit and replace it with theirs instead of just adding their lock onto it. When this happened to me, I had stuff stolen. I told the manager and he said it wasn't possible because he had someone with him when he cut the locks. It was not only possible, but it DID happen. I had 3 boxes and a few loose items stolen. managers come and go so fast it's hard to keep up with them. read more
