I decided to cancel my gym membership - the gym by my house is atrocious. On top of my hatred for the gym and the disdain for the number on the scale I was getting frustrated with my lack of femininity and sexiness. Deep down inside, girliness and sex-kitten live in me and they were clawing their way out. I did some research and found some shady pole dancing classes that I'm pretty sure are attended by the girls that work at places that have neon signs reading GIRLS - GIRLS - GIRLS and ALL NUDE. I want to feel sexy, I don't want to feel itchy. I found the perfect place for me. It's a dance studio and fitness center called Express MiE. This place is geared toward helping women find their inner sexiness. Exactly what I wanted. I was a bit intimidated to take the class on my own so I recruited some girlfriends to attend the Pole~ah~Tease intro class with me. We hit up a restaurant beforehand to get some carbs to burn off in the class. The intro class is 1.5 hours long and only cost $30. It was better than you can even expect. The teacher was funny and was sensitive to the fact that some girls were nervous and some totally comfortable. I had such a great time that I signed up for the full class and continued for 3 6-week sessions. I also got a membership to participate in their other classes including Zumba, Yoga Booty Ballet, Burn by Candlelight and TONS more. Consider going. I've been taking various dance classes like Bollywood, Salsa, and the Pole Dance courses here for about 6 months now and can't stop raving about how much fun they are! I hate to exercise - period - but Express MiE really makes it so much fun that I keep coming back for more and have really toned up a lot because of it. Last night in the pole class I learned how to flip myself up on the pole upside down and slide down. Tell me that's not way more fun then a stair master! It's a major arm and abs workout - that's for sure. The girls at the classes are a great bunch and I've made some nice friends through the studio. And for the record, I'm married, work full time, and have a two year old daughter and love taking the time out for myself to do these classes. I'm not pursuing a new "career" as a pole dancer. :) I'm really excited about the upcoming partner salsa and swing dance classes they're going to have coming up in the next few weeks and will update more after I go to those. read more

The instructor Jasmin was very nice and connected with the students very well. She explained each step very clearly and it was easy to understand for a beginner like me. The pace of the class was very gradual and slow which might help beginners. I wish there were one pole per person, but it helps to watch other group doing the routine before your turn. I had expected from their website that it's feminine oriented pole dance. I'm looking for pure fitness and not quite interested in sexy nature but it was a great experience and fun! read more

Everything about this place was awesome! My friends and I went for my best friends bachelorette party and they were so accommodating! Our group had 10 people in it. They made the scheduling easy, responded promptly to my emails, confirmed my reservation, and on top of all that we had so much fun! April is a very talented dancer and an ah-mazing teacher! Our group chose the pole-ah-tease and lap dance sampler party. She did a wonderful job demonstrating each move and breaking down each routine into simple steps. Always super helpful! There was a class that i signed for that was cancelled and it made me super sad as it was the only time I could take it... Chastity was super sweet! They found one that would work in place of it and followed up with me to make sure everything was alright! Expressmie is a home away from home. I love that I get to disengage from the world for an hour and a half and enjoy myself while at the same time I get to connect with so many wonderful and strong women. Jessica is an upbeat patient instructor who really breaks things down on each movement. I appreciated how she also watched and would help make the corrections to form so as to get things right without injury. She shows excitement and passion and is encouraging. I loved her class so much I'm taking the next one with her at a later time just so I can have her as my instructor. I would have raved about this place up until recently.. All of the amazing staff members have left all at once, which makes you go "hmmm". And with each staff change, the owner seems to get a little more visibly frazzled as she posts weekly newsletters practically detailing these ex-employees' personal business and calling them out...lawsuit, anyone? I love going to my pole class every week, we stretch, meditate and dance I like to think that meditation heals my mind and Dancing heals my soul.
